  3. WOW what a great weight loss!! I'm a month out too, but have only lost 6kgs (which is just over 13lbs) but I lost a fair bit before surgery so am actually about halfway to my goal. It fascinates me as well to see how things have changed - the volume of food I could pack in before surgery was pretty piggy really (well I didn't get overweight by having a delicate appetite!) and I'm so happy to be full on a small portion. One egg and I'm stuffed full...... from someone who could eat a 3 egg cheese and vege omelette and be lining up for toast as well! I've never been a fast loser, but at least it seems achievable now without feeling deprived and "on a diet" - roll on (or off!) the next 20kgs
  4. I have no suggestion for the hair loss..I've been losing mine since 3 months out. But if you are stalling that long, I'd try shaking things up a bit. Change your caloric intake or Lilmissdiva's bootcamp might be a good place to start,,it's worth a try. Cutting carbs helped me shed 6 pounds in 1 week and I always felt full. Slowly adding back healthy carbs this week and the weightloss slowed down but I'm still losing. Logging what you eat in a journal or at myfitnesspal.com helps you see exactly what you are taking in. Increase exercise might be another avenue you can take. I'm so sorry things aren't working out for you this far out.

I got a bill from my Dr. for 10.00 so I dunno lol I'll take that bill in tomorrow (I had to reschudle) because I overslept and its a 3 hr drive Ins lady at Dr office said that even so people have had that letter, Aetna only paid 25.00 of the fill...So that leaves me with 150.00 fills I guess dunno we'll see what happens tomorrow!
  6. Me too but I expected to have to eat every few hours. My advice would be to eat something (nutritious) if you are hungry. I plan for 3 meals and 2-3 snacks a day (as recommended by my dietician), so I usually don't go more than 3 hours without eating.

    Staples

I did. Were removed about 2 weeks later, but if they start getting red and angry like this picture, get them out right away. This was right after I had them removed. I developed what is called contact dermatitis. I was told by my doctor that I should have called as soon as they started looking angry like that
  8. My new stomach has been going crazy the past two days! It's like gas is constantly trapped and I belch all the time. It was not like this before AT ALL! Could it be reflux, a leak, gallstones? It makes me not want to eat because then it goes nuts sounding. I'm not really uncomfortable besides the belching all the time. Opinions?

    incorperating new foods

Every carb has the potential to be 'bad carb' unless it comes from certain fruits and legumes. Heavy starches such as bread and Pasta can cause weight loss to abate. Btw, I recommend that you use Ketostix to assure your body is in state of Ketosis at all times. Many folks who post here about stalls may actually have created the stall by consuming too many carbs, even if keeping calories in check. -RC-

New to Gainesville Florida, Need Fill Doctor

Hello fellow lapbanders. Just a warning. I had my lapband in for 5 years. Last January my port area started to become inflamed with a red area around it. It eventually looked like an half of an egg raised up. It was so painful. My Doctor finally did a scope down my throat and found that the lapband was growing right into my stomach. After a 4 1/2 hour surgery, they finally got it out. I was in the hospital 3 weeks. I ended up in ICU for 3 days. I almost died. I'm not saying don't do it. Just have your Dr. do a scope down your our throat every 6 months. It worked for me. I lost my weight in about 1 and 1/2 years. I'm at a comfortable weight now. I just think if you do not monitor the banding, our bodies will try to incorporate the band into our bodies. Good luck everyone.

Can you stall with not getting enough calories and protein??

I joind the site WWW.fitday.com So i could log all my food so i could find how just how much i am getting in, well after logging my foods for breakfast and lunch, protein did not add up to much and the calories for the two meals was only 455 calories. Thats probably why i have not lost much weight, i don't think i am eating enough. can anybody tell me, if that plays a big part in stalling, if your not eating enough calories?? I will continue to work on the calories and the protein and just see if it makes a difference, i will blog my results.

    a change of period?

Oh let me tell you I had surgery March 18th 2013 and I was due for my period and it did not come, so by May 18th I had light spotting and then nothing until July 25th. I was soaking through super plus tampons every 1-2 hours I even had to add an overnight pad. This went on for two whole days and now my flow is back to normal. I did some research and apparently when you don't shed the lining it overgrows and builds up and it has to come out some time. I have even read on here where some women have there period continuously for 3 or more weeks after surgery.
  15. I am on purees again right now since I had a fill last week. I do cottage cheese and hummus. Cottage cheese has a decent amount of protein. I also do fat free refried beans warmed up and then I put them in a mini belnder with some fat free shredded cheddar and puree real good. I put that in a bowl and top with fat free sour cream, salsa, and guacomole. It is really good, I call it a burrito in a bowl. Oatmeal is quick and easy, and I have actually been eating baked potatoes(chew REALLY well and take small bites, TRUST ME!!!) with basically the same stuff on it as the beans minus the guacomole. Make sure you do your protein shakes. If you make them using Skim Plus you get like an extra 10 grams of protein on top of what the powder delivers.

    Hey! Hey!!!

So exited about finally having a food I can chew for the first time in 5 weeks!!!! Best scrambled egg of my life lol
  17. I will be 4 weeks post-op tomorrow and the pain has been pretty manageable for a week or two. Last night I started with pretty intense, left sided abdominal pain near my ribs. I feel a little bit of a knot and assume it's normal healing, but am wondering if anyone else had this. I've been glued to the heating pad most of the day today because of the pain. It's bad enough that I'm nauseous and I don't have any pain meds left. I've been taking Tylenol with little relief. I do have my 1 month follow up on Monday, so I'm trying to hold out until then. Is this normal?
  18. Have a great week everyone! Had lapband surgery 10/12/16
  19. I'm 7 months out and just look ridiculous with the amount of hair I've lost, my hairdresser even suggested I get a pixie crop last week and this may well be my only option. As I have an appointment on Monday with my surgeon I'm holding on to see whether I am missing something from my diet that may help. I discovered through research that I was not getting enough protein in me I need 100 grams to help me lose weight I'd be lucky if I was getting 20 grams so I have added protein shakes and so far today I have managed to get 64 grams of protein in. I also take zinc and biotin to strengthen the hair when it does grow. I know nothing I've told you will help with your hair loss but your not alone if that is of any comfort.
  20. Hi all, I was just thinking we could connect and walk through the next few days together??? In a few hours I will leave the house and head to the hospital for surgery. It has been such a stressful few days that I haven't even been able to think about surgery, or packing, or the hospital. That's proably a good thing. I'm kind of sad that no one can stay at the hospital with me. My husband has to basically drop me off becuase our kids will need him and the hospital is over an hour away. Since no one knows yet that I am having the surgery we don't have anyone to help us out. I know God is with me so I will not be alone, but I'm still a little worried and sad. Other than that, I'm ready to do this thing!
  21. I'm 5 weeks postop and have been just a tad bit hungry. Nothing unmanageable but I did feel the difference in between meals, and even more right before a meal my stomach would growl like crazy! It's quite embarassing sometimes. LOL Like I said though, it's nothing I can't manage but it was a little uncomfortable. I've also continued to walk every night for 45 minutes or more. On weekends, Imake it a point to get out of the house and just keep moving. My girlfriends were visiting last weekend and we went EVERYWHERE! We sunbathed, walked, shopped, sight seeing, etc. I think I burned at least 500 - 800 calories with just walking last weekend. Fun and tiring but am very proud to keep moving like that! BTW, I took my friends to Katsuya in LA and ran into McDream himself - Patrick Dempsey. So dreamy for sure! I've kept my meals at under 1200 calories per day and even though I get hungry sometimes, I've been able to control myself and not snack. I'm very proud to be able to eat 3-good portioned, healthy meals per day. VERY proud of that. The greatest part of this month is how some people react to my transformation so far. It's a slight change, at least I think so, but for some people that don't see me everyday they think it's a major change. They commented on how small my face and neck are getting. I just wish my lower half would get even smaller though. I feel like my lower half needs to catch up! My boobs are shrinking but not my thighs.. In time... I saw my doctor yesterday for my post-op visit and he said I'm right on track. Nothing seem to bothering me right now, so it was a short visit. But, he did give me my first fill. What a weird sensation! When he injected the saline, it felt like butterflies were in my tummy. So strange! Anyway, I was to be on liquids for 12 hours and I can start eating normally again, but even smaller bites for a day or two, making sure I chew even longer than normal. I feel great today. My stomach didn't growl as loud as usual, so that's a good change. I'll be scheduling another appointment for next month, and I bet I will need a fill then too.

    Hi!

I like you are a couple of weeks post op and starving. I get my fill 1/14 and I can't wait. I am trying to keep my portions small and my protein up. My family too is great cooks and love to eat. I have really noticed since being banded how much my family uses food for everything! Good luck to you too!
  23. Hi All- My name is Brittany and I'm 25 years old. I'm currently trying to decide if Bariatric Surgery is the right route for me, given my circumstances. Basically, if I decide to go through with it all, I'd like to try to get the surgery done before I turn 26 in October. Until that point I'll have two insurances (through work and my dad-- thanks Obamacare!) and I figured that would be the cheapest way to get it done. I have my first Doctor's consultation in a couple of weeks and I've been researching the options. Right now, sleeve or bypass seem best for me, but I just don't know. I think once I meet my doctor he will be able to give me his professional opinion on the matter. I guess where I'm struggling right now is deciding if it's actually something I actually want to do. I've been overweight my entire life and have grown quite comfortable with my appearance. I'm very proportional for my size- and I've always thought of myself as attractive. I actually worry, very vainly, that I'll be less attractive if I lose weight. I'm dating someone who loves my curves and wouldn't change me for the world and I worry that if I lost weight he might look at me differently. (Although I think that's more of a personal concern, because I know he would support and encourage me if it meant I was being healthy). I have infertility issues and my doctors have told me repeatedly that losing weight will only increase my chances at getting pregnant. I also know that losing my excess fat will make me healthier in the long run. But I'm so comfortable the way I am now. Was anyone else afraid to take that leap?
  24. What she said! Stalls are frustrating and a little scary. You are definitely not alone.
  25. I am ready to pull my hair out. SW 266 i lost 16 lbs on pre op diet so before VSG I was 251. I am 16 days post op and I was down to 241 but I started puréed and now the scale will not move from 243.5, it has been five days and I’m going crazy. I thought two weeks post op that I would lose more weight than this. Is it normal to have a stall this early? Thanks
