Hummm. Never heard of that. I don’t recall how many weeks I was when I was on purées though. Could’ve been around the same time frame.

I can’t have the sauce until week 8 🙄 the dietician won’t approve Alfredo substitute either. So I wait. It’s literally saved in my phone for when I can have it 👌
  3. I had gastric bypass in Oct 2019, within the last 6 months (or so), I have been vaping THC pretty regularly. Slowly, I've had nausea feelings everyday. Some days worse than others (like today). At first I thought I'll just vape some more and this will take care of my nausea (like cancer patients will do for pain and nausea). Well, the nausea seems to be getting worse and I think there is a connection (duh). Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know if THC is NOT a good thing for bariatric patients? I'm going to stop for a week and see what happens. I'll keep you updated. Stewy56
  4. Hello! i am new here I had gastric sleeve surgery on May 3. I started my journey in December. My first scan at my appointment I weighed 264 pounds, yesterday at my checkup i weighed 234. I am struggling because my stomach feels so large. I can’t even wear my exercise pants from when I was 264 pounds, they feel like they put so much pressure on my abdomen which in turn puts pressure in my chest making me very uncomfortable. My belly feels bigger than it did 30 pounds ago. I don’t understand what’s happening. I would assume that I’m losing weight in other parts of my body. Could this be some sort of post op bloating? Even taking a deep breath is uncomfortable, it reminds me of when I was super pregnant I'm really bummed. im hoping someone might have some insight. Thank you guys

I’m on work leave and I am bored too 🤣 today I moved into the mushy stage. My diet expanded to being able to have: fat free refried beans, low fat ricotta or cottage cheese, and eggs 🍳 I had 2tbs of beans for breakfast and it was way better than it should have been 🤣 I was so tired of yogurt. Days 3-6 my options were yogurt, hot cereal. I hate hot cereal. So I ate yogurt and was over it. Moving on up!

I only like mahi too. Funny thing is I used to have to make myself eat it once a week but post surgery I like it a lot more. Sorta makes me wonder if I should try other fish again.

    Help!

Hi Everyone [emoji3059] I really need some help and reassurance please. I had surgery March 24th and have since struggled. Foods taste and smell awful, I now hate meat because the smell is so revolting. I'm struggling to eat anything. Will this change? Why does everything smell so repulsive? Will my taste return to normal? I'm now 7 weeks out and feeling quite low. Hope you can help x Sent from my SM-G980F using BariatricPal mobile app

    May 2022 surgery?

Wasn’t the first bite of beans the best thing ever? My surgery was 5/2 and now I’m having dreams of the purée stage, which comes next week. Lol
  9. When i first started, i said I wouldn’t buy any new clothes until i was done with weight loss. It helped that I am/was a low-key-hoarder of clothes so i had a whole closet full of “skinny” clothes I could shrink into. BUT…when those clothes ran out (or just looked dated to me), i was all, eff this, im buying some new clothes that dont hang of me cuz i wanna look good. Yes, i spent on items that I would only wear for 2-3 weeks, but I looked GOOOOOD those 2-3 weeks wearing it! Lol My one really big ticket item i splurged on was plastic surgery (which i got about 14 months post op). BEST. PRESENT. EVER. If i may be so bold to suggest, if you are gonna spend enough to purchase leather goods at the price tag of a small car anyway, maybe considering plastics instead. Its the gift that keeps on giving! (or do both!)

Its nice but BOORRRRINNGGGG! lmao. Its been like 3 weeks now without me having anything to do. before surgery i would spend most of my day out on the water on my jetski to keep busy. but still waiting for my incisions to fully heal before i go out in that water. Its not the cleanest water out there lol
  11. I chose sleeve because: 1) the idea of rearranging my plumbing turned me off 2) i wanted to continue using NSAIDS with no issue (but surprise, surprise, i ended up no longer needing them) 3) i was afraid of dumping (again, surprise, surprise, i dump with the sleeve anyway) For what its worth, my surgeon said either surgery (sleeve or bypass) would, under normal circumstances, more or less produce the same results with the same person. And that unless there is pre-existing condition that would dictate a specific surgey (i.e., GERD, which i did not have) then it just boils down to personal choice. He was equally comfortable doing either surgery and advised me to choose the one *I* felt more comfortable with. There is alot of literature out there about average weight losses for the different types of WLS’s. But averages are just that: averages. They are NOT pre-determined stats that YOUR body will adhere to. Basically, results are significantly more tied to the person (and their actions/habits/physiology) than the specific surgery. Doc said that statistically, based on my starting weight, I could expect to lose 60 lbs in a year. Eff that, I lost 120 in 7 months. I’ve read of others on here who lost 50 in a year, still others who lost 200 over 2 years, and even one who lost 150+ in less than six months (all self-identified sleevers). So yeah…their results are quite spread out. In any case, whichever surgery you choose (pre-existing conditions excluded), your results will depend on YOU. Good Luck!

    Hunger hormones

I would call. If you haven’t had any struggles on the liquid phase perhaps they will add a purée phase between the two. Most of us have a purée phase anyways. Or, like I suggested before maybe they will at least let you have another protein shake. The extra protein shake should help without technically advancing your diet. They do fill you up for a good 3-5 hours. I know because even at a year out I still have one everyday for breakfast and depending on when I wake up it keeps me full till noon. I would choose food instead if it didn’t keep me full. But just three a day it may not keep you full long enough. If that makes sense.

I'm in pre-op still. I don't officially start pre-op until 6/1, but have essentially been eating similar to the post-op meal plan for the last two weeks. I'm down about 17lbs. I'd love to lose another 20-30 before surgery, but it's hot as snot here and makes working out miserable. (Florida) How are you doing?

    May Surgeries - check in!

ONE YEAR LATER… my surgery for gastric sleeve was on May 26, 2021… I have lost 90 pounds and still hope to lose about 20 pounds but I feel great. I started at 268 and wearing 2xl and size 20 pants and XL tops. They were all snug. I am now wearing 12-14 (size L) bottoms and M tops. I carry most of my weight from the waist down. My surgery and recovery was not bad at all. I immediately began walking and am back up to walking/jogging 3-4 miles several times a week. I also do reformer Pilates four times a week. That has been a game changer for me. I have had NO reflux and no other issues since surgery. For that I am most thankful. I don’t get hungry and minimal cravings. I don’t really eat a lot of dairy since surgery. It may be the only adverse outcome from surgery. I am looking forward to the warmer months so I can benefit from the fresh fruit and veggies that are available. This surgery was a game changer for me. I am so glad I did it and am thankful for my surgical team and my husband for his amazing support. I am considering doing some skin removal but maybe not for another year to see where we are then. The first photo is from the first day of my two week liquid diet before surgery and a photo taken last month. The other four are a series of photos one of my coworkers took over the past year - date stamped. Wishing all of you a happy 1 year anniversary! Hope we can all continue to give as many success stories a year from now!!!

I just never learned how to cook one portion, plus I'm traveling most days for work, so I'd have to go buy groceries every week for the one day a week I'm home, and it's hard to do that. Buying and cooking once a month is much easier.

    May Surgery Buddies

Fingers crossed for you, Merill. I hope the numbers stay low or go away altogether and you get the procedure. You made me laugh 😂🤣😂🤣…I go to the beach for two hours and I bring the same amount of stuff as if I was going for a week. My stuff is my stuff. Keep me posted!

    So I did a thing...

I called my surgeon's office today and asked if it was ok to try a little bit of mushy food, just to see how my stomach handles it. They said yes, but to go slow. So I did tonight when I started to really feel hungry. I had 1 tsp of classic hummus and it was GLORIOUS!!!!!!! The taste was amazing (more intense than I remember) and best of all, NO PAIN!!!!! I stopped at 1 tsp because I didn't want to push it. And I was actually full!!!! From a teaspoon of hummus!!!! It was so cool!!!!! My head immediately went to "omg that tastes soooo goood, eat more more more!!!" but I didn't. I recognized that for what it was, and I got to have a taste and feel full, and such a small amount was all I needed. I happily put it down, and now I'm here sated, very comfortably not hungry, and so excited that my stomach isn't going to give me trouble with this next step. I'm going to stick with my shake in the morning, my protein waters in the afternoon, but I'm definitely having hummus at night (which is when I'm the most hungry). I'll bump it up once I officially hit the 2 week mark. I want to go slow with my stomach and not push it. I just can't believe it went so well!!!!! And took such a small amount of food!!!!!!! This is so cool

    Vitamin patches

Do you have other pills you have to take? I take my multi vitamin with my other pills in the morning (after a protein shake) then I take one calcium with lunch at noon and another at 3. I still have alarms for the 12 and 3 ones but the morning ones I remember because the bottle is with my other pills. Eventually it becomes pretty much habit and I remember for the most part but If I am doing anything out of schedule I still forget so I still use the alarms. Oh and I say all this because my team also said no patches. They say there is no proof that they work yet.
  21. Was just thinking since I have my 3 month post op follow up tomorrow, dreaming of my 1 year post op and the weight I'll lose. I've had, since the beginning of this whole journey, the idea to reward myself with a designer trench coat when I reach my goal weight. I'd ideally like to be 195 lbs but I'm starting with 220 for now because of my doctor's suggestions and recommendations. I think if I'm between 215 and 195 I'd give myself the reward. Anyway, I'm soooo dreaming of buying a designer coat when I reach that weight. Having one of those "imagine" nights. So I wanna know, do you or did you have a big item or thing in mind you wanna (or did) reward yourself with once you achieve your goal weight? What was it? Vitamin patches

I did for the first 2 weeks after surgery. Every doctor, nutritionist i have spoken to say they dont work. Even my own nutritionist was against me doing it but i did for a couple weeks until i was on soft foods. If you cant remember. Set a alarm on your phone. There are free apps that are pill reminders. need to get use to it because the vitamins are life long.

    Sinus/cold before surgery May 16th

Lol! I’m lucky! Thanks everyone! 3 more days!!!!! I’m so nervous!
  24. “Poolside” pork dumplings. Someone posted “poolside nachos” a while back and i’ve been waiting for weeks to follow suit! (The weather has finally co-operated!) I started off with 2, but ended up eating 4 (plus 2 espresso martinis) by the end of the afternoon. 364 calories.
  25. I had the same thing. Well I had a two week reduced carb/sugar diet and then one day of liquids. I didn’t realize till I got talking on here how lucky I was cause I thought mine was tough enough. I still say it was the worst part of the whole process for me.
