I am about 4 months out and have lost52 lbs. more than half way to goal. I just worked up the courage to apply for two really great jobs. One as a nursing school instructor and one as a charge nurse in labor and delivery. I'm not sure I will qualify because it has been 10 years since I last worked. I felt to bad about myself to even think about re-entering the work force But today I got two calls. One was an invitation to send in my résumé. The second call is for an interview for Friday!! Never would I have had the guts to even apply before the surgery. I am hopeful for the first time in a long time. Hit 'like' to give me a boost and some encouragement Are you feeling better about yourself? What kind of chances have you been taking with the new you? Please share!

I had a similar experience with TWO bites of BBQ sandwhich. It was my first PB and slime experience and an educational one to be sure. I felt that bite go up and down my esophagus maybe 10 times. I think I have a sort of road rash from it. I'm still very sore. That was Saturday and I have had only mushies or liquids since then and I am still tight and sore. How are you feeling?

This week, the police in my home town, have been stopping women on the street to warn them about three big mistakes that the women are making, which are leaving them open to criminal activity. #1. When purchasing gas at self-service gas stations, many women leave their pocketbooks on the seat of their cars, leave their car doors unlocked and take the $20 or $30 into the convenience store section to pay. When they come back to their car, their purse or its contents are missing. Because the thieves take the contents, but leave the pocketbook, many women do not know their credit cards and driver's license are missing for hours or days. #2. Many women walk between their cars and the stores in the mall (or strip mall) holding the pocketbook by the long strap. A purse-snatcher can easily grab the pocketbook and the strap will break right off. #3. (And this is the worst) Many women, put their pocketbook into the top section of their shopping cart (and leave it open quite often) and then turn their back on their shopping cart while reaching for products on the shelves. Some women comparison shop with their back turned from their cart and wide open pocketbook. Some walk 5 or 10 feet away from their carts. Thieves will very seldom take the pocketbook, but will reach in and take the purse or wallet with the money, credit cards, driver's license and other personal data. It is not until checkout time, which in a Super-Wal-Mart could be an hour or more later, that the unsuspecting women finds out the awful truth; “I've been robbed”.

Hi Sonja! I am 48 yo and 7 weeks post-op from my tummy tuck. I am AMAZED at how great I look already! I feel sexier and more confident than I have in years! I just passed my 2 year bandiversary, and I'm still 10-15 pounds from my goal weight. But there wasn't anymore belly fat to lose, so I went for it. One thing I'm excited about is my low-profile port doesn't even show and I have FLAT abs now! I WILL be wearing a bikini next Summer!!!! My advice to you would be to make an appointment with more than one PS, and ask them what result you can expect. Some of them will even do a complimentary consultation. But, even if they don't, it's worth it to find the right surgeon...and you will know which is right! Good luck to you.

Did any of you have Gall Bladder issues prior to wls? I have had 2 really bad bouts and several not so bad bouts of Gall Bladder "attacks". I am preop (10/1/19) and after reading some info online, I decided to let the doctor rip it out on 5/9/19. The article I read stated it was better to have it out prior to wls. But, then again....you can find exactly what "you" want to read or hear on the internet.

Seriously Think I'm Failing At This..
Wheetsin replied to hrtgoeson's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You simply cannot hold yourself to a standard of what other people are doing. It will mean failure almost always, because you will never be the same. I've been sleeved going on 13 weeks. I haven't lost anything (neither pounds nor inches) in about 10 weeks. I haven't seen anyone else that stalled, that soon, with still needing to lose > 100 lbs. But that doesn't mean I can look at everyone else around me who's posting losses on a daily basis and think that I, personally, am somehow failing. It just cannot work that way. Even if you lose nothing else for a bit, you've still lost (post-op) 6 pounds in a month, which is well above an average. (I'm not sure what you mean by you've gone up 1.5 weeks? Given up, maybe? Or gone up 1.5 lbs?) If your weight did not fluctuate, that's when you'd need to be concerned because it would mean your body was not working properly. -
Stalled And Don't Care!
Katie713 replied to ShannonK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly Carey....think about where we were last year. I have donated most of my old big clothes over this year, but hadn't touched my coats. When the weather cooled down, I was trying them on to see what might fit and they were so big, I could tuck the edges under my armpits from both sides. They were huge and LONG too. I had to run out and get a few sweaters but no jacket yet, I am between a 14 and 16 on top because I am still busty. I am on a hunt during the Christmas sales to try and get a 14 that will take me through next Spring. Eventually I hope to hit goal at a size 8-10. I feel so much better this year!! Hope you do too, so go ahead and enjoy Thanksgiving and then pick up right where you left off.. -
I was saved at the last minute by remembering the Protein shakes I took to TJ at the last minute. It was late and the cafeteria was closed and the ped fridge is packed with ice cream. Not to worry, I just drank my Protein shake at 9 1/2 days instead if 10. I will say a prayer for all the sleevers who can't stand Protein Shakes. It was my first feeling of fullness. I love, love the Dr Mercola grass fed, artificial sweetener free chocolate protein shakes. Tastes like chocolate milk even when made with Water. 160 cals per 20 mg protein 2 scoops. Yum!

4 weeks out and haven't lost in two weeks!
Deactivatedfatgal replied to Jnette1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I hit the stall also! I was 235 before surgery and lost 19 pds in two weeks! I'm now down to 210.5 but I'm being patient and focusing on strength training and cardio. I personally want a slow and steady weight loss but I'm happy either way. This is part of the process. My teacher told me you may not see the scale move for a month sometimes but you are losing inches! -
4 weeks out and haven't lost in two weeks!
biginjapan replied to Jnette1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree - don't freak out (I know that's easier said than done). You've hit the dreaded 3-week stall! Just keep to your plan, whatever it is. I was sleeved on Feb. 9 and have 3 stalls since then (I had a 3 week stall beginning at the end of the 2nd week post-op). Then I dropped 5 pounds overnight and the weight kept coming off. Then I had another stall before heading to Germany (one month post-op). I didn't weigh myself during that 10 day trip, but when I came back home I was down 12 pounds. Now I've been stalled for almost 2 weeks, but I know the weight will drop again. My stats are similar to @SalZ - I've lost almost 30 pounds in 2 months post-op, and 50 pounds since I started the pre-op diet. It's working, and it'll work for you. -
So sorry for your child's hurt. Please seek therapy for the family. This is going to sound a little odd, but when you relive it over and over in your mind and try to take blame you are just causing that pain to yourself. The original pain has already happened and you cannot change the incident; while it takes healing and dealing with that when you revisit it you yourself are continuing it. I know it is new information and takes time to absorb. Don't give it power by hurting yourself with food, then you become a victim and it wins again. if you can't do therapy for whatever reason, go to the library and look up books by Byron Katie, one I found useful was 'Loving What Is'. There are others and other authors that help with trauma. At your desk, bring snack bags of 20 almonds, a couple string cheese, and maybe a greek yogurt. I know you say you don't move around much at work, but I worked a desk job and I know you are allowed breaks - so especially at the break after lunch I insist you take it and you walk for 10 minutes, and don't eat lunch at your desk. You are actually more productive if you take those breaks. You are already a success with your weight loss. Honor that now by continuing. Good luck.

15 is not very many at all. I'd also ask him why he has moved from state-to-state, that is unusual for a barriatric surgeon. I'd also inquire as to how many medical malpractice cases he has had against him. (Generally that is why doctors/surgeons tend to move around alot.) I know he has been in 3 states in less than 10 years. I would DEFINITELY do a lot of research before making your final decision.

Dr. Umbach in Las Vegas?
LuvMeBunches replied to youknowit's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had my VSG surgery on 1/27/10 with Ms. Mini-Me, and I can only resonate what she said....Dr. Umbach was AWESOME! But, everyone needs to do their own research and find a surgeon that they themselves feel comfortable with. Dr. Umbach had 4 surgeries that day -- 3 VSG and 1 band. And, he has a ton of experience with gastric bypass and the deodondal switch, which are far more complicated, and which sometimes require similar procedures as VSG as prerequistes for the final bypass. I do not regret my decision to have Dr. Umbach do my surgery. He did nothing but make us feel comfortable, and took time to share with us the risks. -
Half way point. 151lbs down in 133 days.
fd319 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My highest weight was 445 in January 2016, my surgery date was 09/20/16 and my weight was 407 day of surgery. As of today, 01/31/17, 133 days since surgery I have lost 151 lbs. I never thought "what I had lost" would surpass "what I needed to loose" so quickly. Only 149 lbs to goal. It seems so much more possible now. I take it one day at a time, one meal, one choice. I don't think about what I need to do tomorrow or that I need to loose "x" amount of weight by "y" date. I'm just thankful I'm alive and I'm moving forward. How tall are you and what is your goal dress/pant size?
Ava324 replied to Butterflyhigh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 5'6.5" and hippie. Even at 150, I'm in size 10 pants and 8 dresses. I'm 10 lbs from my goal, and I don't see me ever getting under a size 8 in pants. Started at 26/28. -

I was swallowing pills hours out of surgery it was fine but a tad sore. \ Although I can't tolerate Multivitamin pills for some reason within 5-10 minute of having one i vomit. So been having chewables but just ordered some official bariatric chewables which should be of better quality than the ones I've been having.

I'm scheduled for surgery on Monday Oct 19. I spoke to my NUT today about vitamins. She explained that your body need certain vitamins. She approved me taking Centrum adult chewable (no gummies). That's a little chalky but edible.

I had my surgery on July 18th. My doctor did not have office hours on the day of my one week post op. I had to wait until the monday pm, which was 10 days later. While it was annoying to have the drain that long, it was not painful and it had stopped draining around the 8th day. If it's painful you should call the office and let them know.

I was ready to roll and my lab work came back that I had H pylori. Stupid bacteria. At least iron pills are itty bitty. I had to take 3 horse pill antibiotics and a prilosec in the morning and at night. Trust me, the two months will go by fast. I got my band two weeks ago and Im still wondering where the time went. __________________ Jill Banded on August 15th:clap2: Dr Bauman, NC 297/283/170 Let the loss begin! Christmas Goal 275
