I don't have to LIE anymore!
ThinkThin78 replied to Scared@#@#less!'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great post! And congratulations! When I moved to WA, I decided to be more "honest" and only fudged my weight by 50lbs (300) the lady at the counter said "oh honey, no one ever tells the truth on their DL, we'll put 250". When I got under the 300 mark I was thrilled to weigh less than my DL, then I looked at it and remembered that the lady "adjusted" it for me. She got 50lbs worth of cursing for my missed NSV :-). Happy to say I have now surpassed that number by 10lbs and can officially say I weigh less than my DL claims!!! Yay! -
Today I weigh 132, which was exactly my goal for the month. Yay! I would like to drop another 7 lbs, but it won't be next month. My 1/2 marathon is at the end of May, so I am going in next week to get a slight unfill, as I need to make sure I can get in enough hydration and good calories to combat fatigue during training and the race. I so love hearing how everyone is doing and about everyone's NSVs as well, so I'll definitely be following along with you all in May, and hopefully I can make my final goal in June.

I just hit a 50 lb loss a few days ago and NO ONE has said a word about it! My mom notices and congratulates me, but not one of my friends has said a word!! 50 effing pounds and NOTHING?? I feel so selfish and vain for needing the support and encouragement, but really! (my mom says it's because your friends see you so often, they don't see the gradual change) You're doing great!!! don't let this small stuff get you down; enjoy those NSVs!!!:tongue_smilie:

Major NSV time! I had to get a pair of Khakis for my trip to NY this weekend. I was told "brown khakis" which don't really exsist... Anyway, I digress. I tried on a pair of 22, thinking they might fit. Nope, too baggy. I tried on a pair of 20s! They were on the baggy side! I got a pair of 18s, and they fit! I fit into a size 18 today!!!!! Okay, I didn't buy them because they were not pretty, but I could put them on! Oh my gawd, oh my gawd, oh my gawd! A size 18! I haven't been able to squeeze my pretty little self into a size 18 since my baby was small! Oh sure, my jeans aren't a size 20, but still! It looks like I'll be bringing some clothes to the Las Vegas Bash after all!

October List of Surgery's

I had an NSV I had to share with you. Yesterday after work I got in the car and realized how much room was between me and the steering wheel. Before I could not turn the wheel around with one hand because my belly would get in the way. There used to be no room between my belly and the steering wheel. Now I have a LOT of room between me and the steering wheel. -

Great job everyone! I lost 1 lb. this week. Things are definitely slowing down and my hunger is returning. Its tough to stay below 1000 cals...other than yesterday (1097 cals) I'm managing. I don't like having my old friend hunger hanging around as much. NSV - I've worn 2 suits to work this week that haven't fit me since 2004!!!! :tongue2: -
All of my December sleevers...
cygnusatratus replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So to me I still look as fat as ever in the mirror but last night I had an almost scary NSV! Almost 1am as I was getting ready for bed I remembered it was garbage night. I was already stripped down and I'm pretty sure in my sedate neighborhood I'm the only one still up and about so I took the garbage to the curb in my boxers. As I was hurrying to get back in out of the cold before a car drove past I saw the shadow of a man against my house, cast by the streetlight directly across. For a split moment I was freaked out until I realized it was in fact my own shadow and I didn't recognize it immediately. The shadow had love handles but was no where near round like it used to be. I actually stopped to gawk at it in disbelief for a while. So I guess much of my weight is still hanging off the front and is still offensive to me in 3D, but my 2 dimensional profile isn't looking half bad! If you are struggling to notice your progress, take a page from a groundhog and see if your bare shadow scares you. What's the worst than can happen? Six more weeks of winter? -
Congratulations! I love reading everyones NSV's!

I LOVE MY SLEEVE! Tonight I completed a 5K in 39 minutes! This is a major accomplishment for me. Before being sleeved it hurt to walk across campus at my school. This evening I ran a good 2.5 miles without walking or stopping AND I was chatting. My pace wasn't anything to brag about, but I DID IT! I have lost 62 pounds and I have quite more to go, but my body is capable of so much more than I ever believed. I registered for two 5Ks and I plan on running the tinkerbell half marathon in January. I can't believe that these events are even possible. Thank you to those who have offered guidance and answered my questions recently. My sleeve and the VST community are awesome. I'm in week two of a stall and that has gotten me down, but HOLY COW I did an awesome job this evening!

Hi Karen! First of all congrats on your weight loss! We have to remember we didn't gain the weight over night and its not going to come off that way either. I say that with the admission that I was weighing myself almost 5 times a day at first! My poor scale I ONLY weigh myself in the morning now in just bra/underwear. Also, I was stuck for a few days, teetering up and down a pound or two then it came off all of the sudden. You have to look at NSV's too. How are your clothes fitting? How are you feeling? In regards to protein shakes, my surgeon agrees with your PCP- most of the protein should be derived from solid foods. I maybe have 1-2 protein shakes per week and I find it is more at late afternoon right when I get home from work I'm starving! So I'll just do a protein shake instead. You should also notice a difference with each fill. I got my second fill 3/8 and notice a difference already. Just to warn you though, after each fill it seems like its a miracle, but then as I'm "needing" another fill (around 4 weeks) I've noticed I could eat a horse. My surgeon said that once we hit "the sweet spot" with fills, I shouldn't feel like that anymore. Mags

I’m three months since surgery now. And in the last two days, I’ve had two Non Scale Victories! One, I went to a grocery store and two of the checker women hadn’t seen me in a couple months, and were so nice to me, and fussing over me, and telling me how good I look! Have I lost weight?? So I told them I’d had the sleeve in July, and yes, I am losing some weight. Finally people are noticing! Here is a small but very meaningful non scale victory: the other night I took my child to the movies, and I did something I couldn’t believe. I crossed my legs. What? They actually fit! Not forming the letter 4 shape perpendicular to each other. Crossed over each other, nearly parallel. What a trip! I remember being able to do that once! Cheering all the little victories along the way.

Oh congratulations Alex...what a wonderful NSV!!! Reading your story, makes me determined that I am going to get out on the skating rink the next time I take the kids skating. I love skating and didn't do it the last time, because I was just too afraid. Never again...I am going to do it!!! Life is not going to pass me by!

December post ops
Getting-used-to-new-me replied to Greenize42's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'd like to add my own NSV's. In my loss so far of almost the equivalent of seven, ten pound bags of taters, (70 pounds), I've gone from an extra extra large (2XL) shirt/coat to a large (L), and from a forty inch waist to a thirty-three! I'm still losing. I don't know where I'll end up. But I'm sticking with the plan my surgeon's group has given me. I'm also making good use of the thrift stores in the area. Don't want to spend too much on these transition clothes. -
Hi All!! I'm alive. They just made me work all darned day and then I had a hot date for the gym with my Beloved. Betty, Eileen & Cindy - big hugs to you! I worry about my folks all the time. I can't imagine what I will do when that day comes. Hey Sara - I have a love-hate relationship with the gym, right now. On the one hand, I know that it is extremely good for me to get the exercise and shift my metabolism and all like that - but on the other hand, I get all STIFF when I sit for any length of time. I feel like a little old woman! I am just hoping that with time and repetition, the whole stiffness thing will go away. Patty, you Disney Chick, you! I think you and Cindy & Eileen should form a band. Maybe Country & Western? Disney Chicks sounds very C&W... Nana-Pat - Whatcha Doin? Is it hard to be back in the real world after your lovely beach trip? Zan - I would consider it an NSV that you had a Manicure & Pedicure instead of going to get something good to eat! That is what I would do between apointments, today! And any Voo Doo rituals would be helpful, at this point! Perhaps some sort of charm? I would accept any help available. I have applied and been approved for financing - the problem is that I really can't afford to make the payments in real life. It's a back-up plan. DH is very much against adding another bill to our budget - and I don't have a leg to stand on in an argument.... We really can't afford it. I am going to go ahead and submit to the State Insurance Board - without the benefit of an obesity lawyer - unless Eileen's friend will work super cheap... and super quick! I was advised that this might me a complete waste of time - but it's a shot. It would take 45 days for Walter at Obesity Law.com to get a letter done for $450. If I want it sooner, the price jumps to $800 and if I want him to follow up on any responses to the letter, it jumps again, to $1200. AND there is zero guarantee that it will work - and no refunds. If I wait the 45 days, my insurance policy may no longer cover the surgery at all. The coverage I have now is no longer available after the first of the year and I am not sure how to go about finding out what the future may bring. If I pay $1200 then I am short that much to pay the amount insurance won't cover... and that is assuming it works. Plus, convincing DH to spend money with little guarantee of return is more than a monumental task. He is apparently only half way on board with this whole surgery thing - and he is NOT willing to go to the same lengths that I am to make it happen. *SIGH* In the old days, I would have gone straight to the Bank of Jay - Daddy would have given me a nice easy long-term loan. My credit is good - but my folks are getting older - and Mom just had knee surgery - and the money just isn't there. So, submitting to the State Insurance Board does seem like the best option - but doing on my own is super-scary. I am going to have to do some further research and go into my comorbidities some more - add to and expand on the letter I already wrote. I am somewhat despondent at this point and more than a little daunted. The good news is that I have two weeks vacation for the end of November - and I am going to visit my parents. That always makes me feel better. I hope everybody has a great day!

How are my March Bandsters!!
willowbas replied to Vegaswildflower's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How is your weight loss? I have lost 44 lbs. since the a.m. of my surgery; 60 all together! :clap2: Have you had your first fill? I had my first fill on July 12; it was 1cc; seven sticks and finally the doc hit the port. :nervous Has any one noticed your shrinking? EVERYONE notices when they see me! My next-door neighbor kept me out talking to her about it for over an hour the other day! :tea: Complications or issues your having? When I don't chew chew chew or eat slowly enough or take small enough bites, I PB or slime. :frusty: I am hit and miss with exercise which makes me very disappointed in myself! I've used a zillion excuses...being on vacation, staying with my mother who is ill, etc. Stupid excuses! I recently bought 2 Richard Simmons Sweatin' to the ___________ and I must say...the 30 minutes zoom by! I just have to make myself do them! As for NSVs...I've had so many!! Wearing a size 14/16 and buying new clothes, sitting in the movie theatre with room to spare in my seat, being able to say NO and mean it, buying new rings because my old ones are too big (as in flying off my hands when I talk), seeing people who haven't seen me in a while and having them rave about how much better I look; being told that I look AT LEAST 10 years younger, feeling like I want to do something other than stay in bed all day! :target: This restrictive device has given me the freedom from the prison that held me captive for so many years: food. :sun:
