It sounds like you're tracking your food. I'm at 5 months out at I'm eating between 800-1200 calories a day, and still losing weight, but not every day. Maybe try going up to 1200 for a day every few days? Sometimes that can "shock" your system into more weight loss, but not sure if that really works. Also, working out isn't really for weight loss; it's for general health and also to reduce muscle loss. it's also good to help keep weight from coming back. You don't have to do too much, but it's good to do something most days of the week. Finally, the closer you are to a "healthy" weight, the harder weight loss gets. Good luck!

Hey it’s me back with questions lol. im at my 6 month mark. I went from 253 before surgery to 184 but I’m at 190 for the last week with no budge or change. I’m not sure if I’m not eating enough or eating too much. I eat around 800-900 calories a day some days a little over 900 i stopped working out because I wasn’t seeing a difference but idk . My goal was 180 and I was so close but I’m back up 6 pounds and it won’t go away. Any advice ?

Has anyone on here had a revision from Sleeve to SIPS ? I have an appointment next week with a surgeon about it.. Just wondering to they make your stomach smaller again or they just do the rest of the surgery? How long to recover from this surgery? Have you lost any weight since the surgery?

Any So Cal Kaiser members starting the journey?
Orinskye replied to Angel_Mom21's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yeah I do have extra skin but it’s easy to hide under clothes. Maybe someday I will get the extra skin removed. i am still actually losing weight… I haven’t stabilized yet. My goal weight was 195 but I just kept losing. My intake that I can do seems to be more in line with the limited quantities of bypass patients rather than sleeve. But everyone is different, so who knows. i am told it is impossible to lose “too much” and that the weight loss will eventually Peter off and stop. I revised my goal weight down to 165 pounds which would put me at ten pounds more to go. the way my body seems to work is I stall for a long time, then drop a ton of weight quickly (ten pounds) …. Then stall again for a while… then drop more…. i have sensitive skin and the excess skin does cause rashes to occur. I get them under my breasts, in my midline area by my belly button and with the skin overhang in the pelvic region. They say that if you have documented skin conditions like I do then they will take care of the extra skin… but it’s recommended to wait a couple years. I think it also has to be overhanging by a certain amount. (I think I remember my pcp saying it has to hang lower than the pelvis bone) -
Hi, I had VSG 2/10/2020.. since then I have been on the journey alone.. SW 228 CW 169. I have no clue how to eat, what to eat, how many calories etc... My surgeons office is no help, Saw him Feb 1 2022, sent a message to the dietician Feb 2 2022, still no response. I will be having my 3rd CT scan tomorrow the 15th as I had some massive pains at the largest incision that started July last yr 2021.. The pain feels like hernia but was told there isn't one there.. will see what this CT shows if anything. When I asked my surgeon about the constipation *coffee 1st thing in the AM has helped A LOT* My surgeon told me not his specialty and to talk to my PCP! Thankfully she has had the same surgery and told me to do Collace, did that for a week but it upset my intestines, Miralax gave me horrible cramps after 1 year of use.. Maybe I will figure out what I am supposed to do one day lol. I haven't regained but maybe 4ish lbs.. I dislike food, it consists of eggs, deli turkey or chicken, spinach.. veggies.. sugar free everything & fat free as well.. thank you all for listening

Food Tastes/When back to normal
Arabesque replied to Lela Clark's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Experiencing a change in your tastebuds &/or sense of smell (the smell of certain foods turns your tummy) is usually temporary. When I first started eating vegetables again my old favourites tasted disgusting but after a few weeks I could eat them without issue. Any prolonged change in your tastebuds usually occurs because you have reduced or removed certain foods/flavours from your diet & when you have them you don’t enjoy them as much. I still find some foods really sweet but that’s because I cut a lot of sugar & sweeteners out of my diet so it’s a good thing for me. Generally the first couple of months can be challenging & cause a bit of an emotional roller coaster as you’re trying to sort out your eating choices, routines, etc. it does get easier. Because we eat such small quantities to begin it can make us weak, tired, or just blah if we miss meals & don’t hit our fluid & protein goals. You’ll work out ways to compensate for busy days that throw your routine too. I always took an electrolyte drink with me when I was going to be busy for an energy boost or you could take a protein shake. Zip lock bags with foods you can tolerate can be helpful too like nuts or jerky as you’re allowed. For a while after goal I kept a protein bar in my bag. Maybe keep a small insulated bag in your car with some cheese, deli meat, etc. I also made sure I took a break - sat & had a cup of tea for 20-30mins. It’s just all new, different, strange, … . Before you know it, you’ll be out & about, socialising, dining, getting on with life & you’ll look back & think that time I struggled was only for a short time really & now life is great. All the best. -
Fallen off the wagon at 3 months post op
MandoGetsSleeved replied to ac0181's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure your feelings on therapy, so here's what I do/did when falling of the wagon early on - First, forgive yourself - Each day is a new day and you damn sure can't change the past. Tomorrow morning, get up. weigh, track, measure - Hell, skip the weigh part, it's probably screwing with your head since you're losing weight. Track and measure. Track EVERYTHING. You're going to fail a few more times, make the next day a new day, don't let it last a week or a month. - If it were easy, we wouldn't need the surgery to help us. -

February 2022 Surgery Buddies
AB2B replied to MeganMyers's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a few days away and so excited and nervous all at the same time. Thank you all for sharing and keeping us updated. It helps so much for us who are waiting and have questions. My surgery is a revision from sleeve to bypass due to Hiatal Hernia which my surgeon will repair, GERD and never getting to goal with some weight gain. 2017 HW 284 I’m 5’3 LW after sleeve 194 after I juiced for three days to break the 200’s. Then two years ago I gained up to 224 and I turned vegetarian. Got down to 187. Then COVID hit. I have gained and lost the same 30 lbs for the last few years. Now my current weight is 225. My revision is set for Thursday, 2/17. I am hopeful all my efforts will get me to goal this time. I’m scared to end up the same. Wish me luck. -

Any So Cal Kaiser members starting the journey?
Angel_Mom21 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hey BariPals! I'm a So Cal Kaiser member and just started the process of exploring VSG. I'm convinced so far that this is the right move for me and I'm excited to be taking the steps to be the best version of myself that I've ever been. I was referred by my PCP already and have had a phone visit with the Metabolic doctor/surgeon. I have an in-person visit scheduled this week! I also have a video class which I believe is an Options class next week. Has anyone had bariatric surgery at Panorama City Kaiser? The doctor I have an appointment with is Dr. Alskaf. Any advice or experiences you'd like to share regarding the process, the hospital or the doctor would be greatly appreciated! -
Hello! I’m 31 days post op from my rny and have been struggling with food for awhile. I never really cooked at home pre-op and so I’m having a hard time finding things to eat during the soft food stage. I’ve gotten snacks that my programs suggests but I’m craving a meal. I rarely eat more than 1-2 times a day. Typically a meal and a snack, so I’m way below on my protein. My first NUT appointment is the 18th so I’m interested to hear her suggestions. I’ve been eating this way for about 2 weeks now and it’s really wearing on my energy levels. I eat less, workout less and lose less. It’s becoming disheartening. I’m hoping by the 3 month mark when I can have more variety it’ll be a lot easier. I’ve avoided things like chicken noodle soup and chili thus far. Has anyone tried this at this stage and if so how’d the noodles go? I’m open to any low to no prep food options either from a restaurant or grocery store! So far I’ve lost about 22lbs since surgery. Thank you everyone!

What are you treating yourself with?
Spinoza replied to Summermoose's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I haven't done anything yet, and in fact am still wearing my old clothes, which s getting a bit ridiculous now. You have inspired me - firstly I will rummage out my smaller clothing from the loft (very dusty I suspect!!) and if there's nothing suitable there, buy at least one pair of jeans and one top I can wear outside the house without embarrassment. I have a short vacation in a few weeks that I would have done anyway, but I cannot WAIT to see how much spare there is in the seat belt on the plane. Woop! -
I did pureed and I think it depends on your taste and whether the texture suits you. My faves were honestly just my family's dinner pureed. Best thing I ever tasted in my life was roast lamb with veg and gravy but blended to a babyfood consistency. Soup is good because you can just use a blender for any lumps - if you make your own add lentils or potatoes to thicken them up. Thin porridge with apple sauce. Well done on getting to two weeks - that's the hardest part done for most of us. 😍

I don't remember doing pureed. I think I did liquids for 3 weeks then to soft foods and regular foods. I still drink protein shakes.

I had sleeve to by-pass surgery two weeks ago today. Although I feel good overall, I’m extremely cold most of the time. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it go away?

Revision from VSG to RNY with hernia repair
wdbass replied to shriner37's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had sleeve to by-pass surgery two weeks ago today, as well as repairing a hiatal hernia. My doctor told me that, without the by-pass, the hernia would reappear, possibly within 6 months. It’s been wonderful to wake up each day without all of the problems related to the hernia. The weight loss is a happy side benefit! -
I am so glad I found this group/forum! I have already searched and answered most of my questions. That being said, Thursday is my 2 week appointment and I am hoping I am cleared to move from liquids to the puree stage. Any favorite recipes out there that helped you get through this stage? Thanks in advance

I am about 6weeks out with my Gastric Sleeve. I had the surgery Dec 29,2021. This past week it seems nothing tastes good or right. I’ll get so hungry and ready to eat, take a bite and it just isn’t good and don’t want to eat it. How long does this last? Also, how long till you get over the regret of having the surgery? I will admit it is getting better it isn’t everyday. I went on errands with the family this weekend and totally got off my schedule and so didn’t feel good that evening. So the rest of the weekend totally depressed that I would not be normal again and not be happy again. How long till you feel normal again or even your new normal? Please no negative comments as I don’t need that right now. Thank you for any advice

What are you treating yourself with?
lizonaplane replied to Summermoose's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have not treated myself with anything in particular, because I never held back from doing what I wanted before. I actually did a month of buying nothing but food in January, and that was great. I realized I had enough clothes from the last time I had lost weight plus some things I had bought in the last few months, so I didn't buy clothes. Unfortunately, this month I've gone back to buying things, although the only clothes I bought were swimsuits (my old one was way too big and I'm going on two trips where I will need them) and some things from a thrift store. I already travel whenever I want; even when I was at my heaviest and needed a seatbelt extender I still traveled for work and pleasure. I haven't figured out what would be a good "treat". I would like it to be something that doesn't end up in a landfill, something more like services. I like getting massages, but I never seem to plan far enough in advance. I'm actually getting one this week when I go to LA for work, because I have a friend there who is a massage therapist. Actually, I just reached a milestone of 100 lbs lost, so I'd like to figure out some way to celebrate that... -
After surgery am I doomed to a life of throwing up???
huskymama replied to Jersey Girl in Tampa's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I will be 8 weeks out tomorrow and I have not thrown up yet other than right after surgery. But i have eaten a bite or two to many and it hurts like hell but im still learning my new tummy {I had the sleeve) and its limits. I didnt eat much red meat before surgery so no biggie for me but i honestly tolerate tuna or other fish better than any meat. Again Im still a newbie post op. I wish i could have done this weight loss with diet and exercise but once you get a certain overweight exercise is hard especially since I have severe arthritis. Since post op Im moving better - been grumpy the past few days I have no idea why - but honestly Id take never eating meat over being obese any day of the week. Its a big change for sure! But its worth it. I am down 35 pounds as of today! i threw up the first 3 days post op but this is pretty common but not everyone does this. My sister is 25 years out bypass and her daughter is out 2-3 years bypass they never throw up. SW: 227 Todays weight: 192 VS surgery: 12/22/2022 Total Loss 35 pounds -
Hi just starting, surgery is scheduled for 4/21. Very nervous wondering if I can stick to the pre requirements mostly the 2 week liquid diet. However I really want this surgery. I an 64 been overweight my whole life. Of course I have lost and gained but never able to keep it off. This surgery feels right but still very nervous! Having sugar free chocolate daily?
SleeverSk replied to DaisyAndSunshine's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Yes I am the same. Honestly if you are only having a small amount I can't see the harm, personally I have a coke every other day and the same with chocolate. I am still loosing but half a kilo a week -
So, I have been having some sugar free chocolates (about 35 calories, 5 carbs and 2 fat) or sugar free chocolate ice cream (about 1 tbsp and similar macros) may be few times a week. Would it be too much to do either sugar free chocolate OR 1tbsp of ice cream once a day everyday? I think somewhere they help getting away from same old food schedule. Ofc I also make sure not to go beyond those limits.

I'm not sure why the nausea would still be with you 4 weeks post-op. Maybe call the surgeon's office to ask and maybe get a prescription for nausea medication. It also seems odd that you haven't lost any pounds in 4 weeks. It usually falls off like crazy immediately after surgery. Maybe mention that to your doctor as well. Are you going to the bathroom okay?
