YAY---I took Pamela's quiz and scored 11 out of 11---it says I am genius, and my love life should follow. I know better....no genius here, or I would learn to shut my mouth! Laura, way to go on the NSV! How did Mom take it??? You looked great, no one would know you were having the trip from hell. I have done ok eating--skipped breakfast, my stomach was too tore up. Had half a tuna salad sandwich for lunch---was going to just eat the salad, but wanted Kinsey to eat a sandwich, so it was easier! Then we had some watermelon----but before I ate the watermelon, I was picking up around the house, and grabbed my bag of chocolate/toffee covered pecans I brought home from TX---and I sat down here to munch and eat, and saw a post saying something about CTCD--and went Oh yeah!!! So put them away and got the watermelon---we each had a small piece and I am stuffed. Even with no fill it is a slow eating, small amount food. I love it too!!! But I avoided the candy. I drank a bottle of water and a bottle of cherry limeade crystal light wannabee. So far so good. Dinner will not be diet, but I won't gorge myself, and since it is food, not junk, will consider it ok! Tracy the Sonic no longer has the MJC---it went away when the month changed. NO? Well, I tried!!!! LOL Kat

I got my 2nd fill today with Dr. Miller and Missy at MCW with fluro. Dr. Miller actually did the fill and he hit it within less than 30 seconds of trying. Very painless 2nd fill. He said I can do my next fill in the office, no fluro needed. I have a NSV too -- Missy walked up to my tummy and started to feel for my port and she had this big smile and said I can feel your port!! :behindsofa: just like that.. so I guess the 9 lbs I lost in the 6 weeks from 1st fill on April 29 to June 10 (today) is melting away some of that abdominal area fat! According to my home scale this puts me about 35 lbs since my pre-op weight about March 10 when I started a voluntary pre-op diet and lost some before surgery. 2nd Fill done 6 weeks after 1st fill and they added 1.5cc's to my 4.5cc's from first fill so I'm at 6 cc's total in my 14 cc's band. Actually Missy said that if I have any issues and had to go into an ER for help while on vacation that I was to tell them 6 ml's. Do cc's and ml's equal each other? Actually I'm now anticipating getting on the airplane this Friday a.m. and seeing how close I come to buckling the seat belt without having to then still get the extender. I can't wait until I no longer have to go through that embarrassment. -
Sounds like you're all doing good today!! I have had my energy pill, a bottle of water.. and sipping on coffee w/sweet-n-low. I am craving a salad (thank goodness??) so I am debating where to go get one. Yes, my family makes them TALL (and big)! Wish I had a good pic of my brother standing up, at nearly 7'0 everyone looks so small next to him. I love going in public with him simply because it makes me look normal height. NSV on the NY trip, forgot to mention this too.. I did not pack ANY pants. I don't know why. I brought capris & shorts, but no jeans. I had them in my hands to pack, not sure where I put them. But I didn't want to only wear shorts to walk around, so one day I was complaining and mom told me to try her pants. I've told ya'll before I've never been able to wear her clothes, and I have always wanted to.. well, I put on her size 12 jeans and OMG they fit!! They were low rise, so they only came up to bellow my belly button which I think was part of it, but I could button, zip, sit, walk, etc. in them. I wore them all day, I was just preening!! I also wore her XL sweater comfortably (was cold and I had no warm clothes). I was just beaming that night. I'm wearing the sheer black shirt you gave me Haydee, but I wore it with a black tank top this time!! I've had 5 people comment on how cute I look today and someone asked if I had an interview or something lol.

Congrats. on the NSV's!!! Most people don't seem to understand the importance of that "ego boost" thing, I guess because they get it more often than heavy people. I reached a point that if I heard one more time about how "cute your face is" I was going to scream. I wore a dress to work the other day and one of the male inspectors I work with eased up close to me and said, "you might think about wearing dresses more often." I told my husband that night and he said he always thought I was cute but my new confidence has made me sexy!!! I'M SEXY!! WOO HOO!!! -
Semi-Embarrassing Question For The Ladies... (Sex-Related)
MrsFlipFlops replied to Angelyco's topic in The Gals' Room
froggi- I totally know how you feel. It's getting better now a days... but I count it as a workout too. I'm 330, 5'7" and I can straddle my hubby. He's pretty skinny around the waist though. Actually, had a NSV the other day... hope this isn't tmi- but there's not as much fat in the nether-regions now- actually "scored" without my hubby having to work his fingers! That's NEVER happened for me. -
Hey Everyone! Today is my 2 year band anniversary. It was 2 years ago that Barb12 and I sat in the waiting room anxiously awaiting our procedure. I am so glad to have had you on this journey with me as well as each and everyone of you. I could not and would not be where I am today without each and everyone of you. Today my weight on my 2 year anniversary is 185#. Right before Memorial Day weekend I was at 183# but managed to gain 4 pounds over that one weekend. I think every now and then it is alright to endulge. But now I am back on the losing side. For the NSV I am in a very comfortable size 14 pant and some 12's, tops are 16's but regular sizes. I have actaully been able to go into "normal" sized clothing stores and people wait on me without judgement and are excited to help me. Also, I am trying to exercise more, I have more energy than I had 2 years ago, and most of all, I like the way that I am starting to look and trying very hard to be more comfortable in this body God has given me (and will give me after a nip/tuck in the future). I hope that everyone is doing well and will check in on their anniversary date. We are still here for each other. And for those of us, like myself, that haven't quite made it to goal ....let year 3 be the one we celebrate our goal . Love ya! Melissa

Hey Fanny..great NSV. Cannot wait to have one like that!

Whoohoo!! Twelve months ago, when I started my new job at a new mine, I had the horrible experience of having to go up yet another size in men's work pants and had to tell the guys in the store what size to order - which they didn't even have in stock! There was a whole embarrassing kerfuffle that went on for months as they had to order my size (127cm). When the pants finally arrived months later, they just fit and in the weeks before my surgery, they were really uncomfortably tight. Three months ago, they were falling off me and I went back to the 122cm pants I was wearing at my previous job. These have been getting looser and looser and this morning when I got up off the bus seat, I almost left them behind, so I thought "Right! Time to change!" It was a wonderful feeling to walk into the stores and announce in a loud voice "I NEED SMALLER PANTS PLEASE!!" What was even better was, after I tried them on, I didn't just go down one size to the 117cms, I fit into the 112cms and THEY'RE NOT EVEN TIGHT!!:wink_smile: WOOOHOOOOO!!! PS: I would have put this in the NSV thread but I couldn't find that. I went back 4 pages on the index too - where did it go????

Don't give up on it yet!! If you read through other posts I've put out here, you'll see I've struggled with losing weight at the same pace as the others on here. I started at 304 and have lost only about 45 pounds since December. It's slow, far slower than when I did Weight Watchers...but this time is the last time! I'm finally at a place on the scale that I haven't seen since 1996. Remember that you don't want to start working out for longer than you can maintain through the rest of your life.....I, too, was doing an hour and a half a day and wasn't losing weight. (I do gain muscle mass easily...) With that said, I met with my nutritionist and she told me to 1) increase my Protein and Water intake and 2) workout LESS!!! I'm now doing about 45 minutes a day, sometimes a little less, depending on my week. I lost inches and went from a size 22 to a snug 18 in my first 3 months, only losing about 15-20 pounds. Then, the scale started to finally work with me.... Remember that without the band tightened, you are doing this on your own. Give yourself time and keep at it. Watch the negative self talk. You didn't eat this on overnight, and it certainly won't fall off over night. Celebrate the NSV's (the non-scale victories) You'll get there if you're willing to put in the time. It's clear that you're willing to put in the energy. Don't give up and keep in touch with people on here. They've been a tremendous influence on keeping me on track. We all lose at our own pace.....but, if when all is said and done, I get down under 200, I don't care if it takes me 4 years to lose all the weight!!! Good luck. Be well.

Missy Congratulations. I'm so happy for you. I'm glad to see that someone else thinks people are looking at them. I was beginning to think I was paranoid. I think it was because I was so uncomfortable with myself before I "knew" everyone was looking and talking about me. Now I think it is because I've gotten a bit more daring in the clothes I wear and I'm still huge on top. I too can buy clothes from the regular department now but still find myself in the woman's department looking. Then if I try it on, it is too big. Good feeling. Best compliment I've gotten was from my mom who was looking for me in a croud at Disney and said I just blend in now. She said she used to be able to spot me in a croud and now she can't. :biggrin2: I don't know if I'm going to make my goal of under 200 pounds by Wednesday. I've had kindof a rough weekend and didn't excercise my butt off like I wanted to. If not be Wednesday, I'm sure I will soon. I've been kindof on a plateau and realize excercise is the only way off. It is so hard for me to find time with my son. I need to just set aside time for me and do it. The band has been such a blessing for me. I want so bad to get one for my sister. I keep hoping I'll come into some money and be able to give it to her as a gift. She has let her health deteriorate over the last few years and is in crisis right now. She is even talking about quitting her job to get health care. She said it is either that or die. Wow what is this world coming too. It is so good to see all the success everyone is having and to hear about all the NSVs.

So, it is Africa hot here in NJ. I had a scheduled 5k race I was not going to miss because of a little warm temperature. I ran the Mountain Top 5k, which by its name I should have realize had hills, not matter the fact the race website said it was a nice flat course. It was 94 degrees at 10:30, when the race started, and the humidity was so high, I think I saw fish swimming through the air. I ran the first mile in 8:26 and was feeling pretty good, but I bonked because of the heat and ended up at 32:16. This was only slightly better than my last 5k time of 32:38, but the diference was I noticed I was finishing with people who looked like runners, rather than the casual or first time runners. I ended up 48th out of 104, which made me happy, then when I got home and checked the web I found out I placed 2nd in my age group for men! This euphoria was short-lived, because I found out there were only 3 men in my age group, but placing is placing baby! :tongue2: I waited until 6:50 p.m. to do my long Sunday bike run, for both heat and rest and did 15 miles in 75 minutes. I got home, downed some water, went to the scale, and yep, down 7 pounds for the day. Of course, this will mostly all come back, but it felt good to see that needle dip. Only a little over a month left until my triathlon, and I can't wait.

You are all doing so awesome! It does make it a bit harder to drive without the aid of our belly :tongue2: I think we can deal with that. I have two awesome NSV's We went to visit my uncle, whom I haven't seen in about a year, we had a lovely visit and came on home. The phone was ringing when we walked in the door. It was my uncle. He said,"I forgot to tell you that you have lost a lot of weight and look terrific. I'm proud of you" That made my day! On Saturday I went shopping, walked into OLD NAVY, a store I have never even been in, and found a top that almost fit. It will fit in another 5 lbs or so. I was so excited that I bought it. It's been a great week!

Thank you Tskelli. You helped me to focus on some NSVs instead of the 2 pounds I gained. Pretty sure it's water since I made really salty carnitas and drank a ton last night. Anyway, I too have been heartburn free since my surgery. Really nice to live without that. And I can no longer use my stomach to steer while I open a straw or whatever. It just won't reach the steering wheel no matter how hard I push it out. Yay!

I hear ya, Little Miss Band-Aid! Why is it the boobs and butt go first? NSVS: I've gone from a 26/28 to a 22 in jeans. Some 22's are even loose. Can't wait to get into a 20. I can't remember the last time I wore that size! My stomach doesn't touch the steering wheel in the car anymore. I finally put the sleep apnea machine in the closet. Don't think I'll be needing it anymore! Before surgery, I had heartburn almost daily. I ate Zantac or Tums like candy. I don't remember the last time I had heartburn! I'm so glad to be rid of that!!

Excellent NSV´s. Maybe no one has had this problem before but...I've not been able to pop the trunk from the inside. But arm wouldn't reach, but lo and behold! I can now!

Well, we haven't posted in this thread in awhile. I'll like to share a few recent NSV's I've had. Anyone else? I went to the Dentist's Office, no not the NSV - I do actually go out once in awhile... anyway as I'm instructed to sit down and wait for the dental hygienist to call me back, I turn around and immediately size up the chairs. For anyone who has been as large as me, that is one of the first things I do. I guess this will be something that will stick with me for a long time. Anyway, I notice the chairs are actually rather small, with the thin arm rests even - way small for me at 330 lbs! I would have immediately not even wanted to try. Well, I figure, OK, I can do this. So, I sit down and find that I fit rather nicely. My legs barely touch the arm rests. WHOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Smilin' all day from that one! My other one is, well bitter sweet to say the least. So, I have to go to LB's because they are the only store with a bra that works for me. My bras right now are a 40D. They are big, period. My cups are like open invitations for peeping toms too. I knew I probably needed to get a downsize in the cups as well. So, I go in and the nice young lady asks if I want to be sized for a bra. I say sure, since I'm not sure of my size anymore. She measures me as a 38C. My boobs have deflated: bitter. I have finally gotten out of the 40's: SWEET! I am in the smallest size now that LB's carries as far as bras: bitter and SWEET! Now I just need to find out where I'm going to get my bras after I shrink out of those.

This is why I'm not telling anyone at work. I was on Nutri/system back in the 80s. I was trying to lose weight for my wedding. I told everyone -- they could see me eating the N/s food and see the weight coming off and people were very supportive. But they also started to DRIVE ME CRAZY. They'd say "are you sure you should be eating that" and ask me how much weight I'd lost all the time and say things like "you're going to look so great in a bikini" which would bug because I knew it wasn't true and was an unrealistic goal. It's not that they were mean. They definitely thought they were being supportive. But their support drove me up the walls at times. At other times, the support was nice though. So it's a double-edged sword. I think the ones who ask how much you've lost can be made to shut up if you never tell them. Say something like, I don't weigh myself that much any more or I'm not concentrating on the pounds but on my health/what size clothes I wear/getting small enough to [insert NSV here]. Another good answer is "a lot!". If you don't give a specific answer, they get tired of answering. For the food police, it's going to be harder. Some people won't stop that crap even if you ask them. But some will if you ask them. Just tell them that you are an adult and that having a lap band doesn't mean being on a diet for the rest of your life, but making healthy choices overall. Also tell them that you are following your doctor's recommendations as to what you can and can't eat. If you have to, lie about it! "My doctor says I should eat cake once in a while so I don't binge." The other thing that will help is time. Someone else will do something to feed the gossip mill or you will get to goal and they'll get used to you at your new size and won't remember to police you.

Semi-Embarrassing Question For The Ladies... (Sex-Related)
NukeChik replied to Angelyco's topic in The Gals' Room
I too find myself "holding my port" sometimes if I've got my legs up a little too far and stuffs a jigglin'. I have found that a good way to be on top both pre-op and post op is to just do squats. I think much like mrusso was describing. I just squat down with the bottoms of my feet on the mattress and my knees horizontal, instead of on the mattress. Once you get in that position its really versatile. If you want to work out your thighs you can move yourself up and down with your legs (Its a really good workout!). If you want to be lazy you can bring your knees toward his chest, get him to bring his legs up behind you and then pull/push you back and forth. I don't know if I'm making any sense. Maybe you can figure it out. I'm 6 feet tall, my highest weight was about 275. My sex NSV is now when I'm on top I can be completely nekkid. I always wore a gown or tshirt before, because I was so self-concious. -

I have had a few NSV's too: 1. Wearing clothes that I haven't worn in the past 5 years!!!! 2. Fitting into the seats in the auditorium at my kids school!!! 3. My 16 year old son noticed my arms are getting smaller, he said " Hey, I guess that band really works!" 4. My co-workers call me "baggy pants"!!! -
Hey Guys! I know it has been a while, and I apologize for staying away so long. I popped back in to update my ticker, and I've been trying to get through all the posts I've missed. I will write more later, but I just wanted to say hi and let you all know I'm still here. I've had some ups and downs since I was here last. I lost a lot right after surgery, then plateaued for an eternity it seemed. I just got fill number 3, and I can finally feel good restriction. (Almost too good) I sometimes have a hard time even getting soft stuff to go down, especially in the morning. Since I got this last fill, I finally started losing again. I have so many NSV's and other things to share, but I'll read everyone else's posts first. I hope you all are doing well! I've missed you all!!

I LOVE this thread! NSV! I have had a few - - The airplane seat belt fits just fine now - with about an inch to spare! I fly nearly every week and prior to surgery I had to push myself back in the seat and suck it in as much as I could to get it fastened! - I no longer pee my pants when I laugh, sneeze or cough! Life is so good! - The other day, I caught myself crossing my legs! I love to sit with my legs crossed, but haven't been able to for a few years now! I'm going to be on the look out for my next NVS!!! I can hardly wait! -

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!
marineliebe replied to pinkdots410's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I put on my work pants the other day and looked in the mirror and said to myself "i look like crap! why?" and i realized it was because my pants were too big! I could pull out the hip part like 5" and my pants were super baggy and hanging in the croch. So i pulled out a smaller pair of work pants that i havn't been able to wear for a while and they didn't just fit, they were even a little big! I put them on and looked in the mirror and I felt that I acutally looked cute!! My other NSV is that i've been trying on some old dresses cus I'm going to vegas in a few weeks, and I found 5 that fit now and look hot! woo hoo!
