    Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Tskelli. You helped me to focus on some NSVs instead of the 2 pounds I gained. Pretty sure it's water since I made really salty carnitas and drank a ton last night. Anyway, I too have been heartburn free since my surgery. Really nice to live without that. And I can no longer use my stomach to steer while I open a straw or whatever. It just won't reach the steering wheel no matter how hard I push it out. Yay!

I hear ya, Little Miss Band-Aid! Why is it the boobs and butt go first? NSVS: I've gone from a 26/28 to a 22 in jeans. Some 22's are even loose. Can't wait to get into a 20. I can't remember the last time I wore that size! My stomach doesn't touch the steering wheel in the car anymore. I finally put the sleep apnea machine in the closet. Don't think I'll be needing it anymore! Before surgery, I had heartburn almost daily. I ate Zantac or Tums like candy. I don't remember the last time I had heartburn! I'm so glad to be rid of that!!

Excellent NSV´s. Maybe no one has had this problem before but...I've not been able to pop the trunk from the inside. But arm wouldn't reach, but lo and behold! I can now!

    Share your NSV's!!!!!!!!!!

Well, we haven't posted in this thread in awhile. I'll like to share a few recent NSV's I've had. Anyone else? I went to the Dentist's Office, no not the NSV - I do actually go out once in awhile... anyway as I'm instructed to sit down and wait for the dental hygienist to call me back, I turn around and immediately size up the chairs. For anyone who has been as large as me, that is one of the first things I do. I guess this will be something that will stick with me for a long time. Anyway, I notice the chairs are actually rather small, with the thin arm rests even - way small for me at 330 lbs! I would have immediately not even wanted to try. Well, I figure, OK, I can do this. So, I sit down and find that I fit rather nicely. My legs barely touch the arm rests. WHOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Smilin' all day from that one! My other one is, well bitter sweet to say the least. So, I have to go to LB's because they are the only store with a bra that works for me. My bras right now are a 40D. They are big, period. My cups are like open invitations for peeping toms too. I knew I probably needed to get a downsize in the cups as well. So, I go in and the nice young lady asks if I want to be sized for a bra. I say sure, since I'm not sure of my size anymore. She measures me as a 38C. My boobs have deflated: bitter. I have finally gotten out of the 40's: SWEET! I am in the smallest size now that LB's carries as far as bras: bitter and SWEET! Now I just need to find out where I'm going to get my bras after I shrink out of those.

    I shouldn't have told people.....

This is why I'm not telling anyone at work. I was on Nutri/system back in the 80s. I was trying to lose weight for my wedding. I told everyone -- they could see me eating the N/s food and see the weight coming off and people were very supportive. But they also started to DRIVE ME CRAZY. They'd say "are you sure you should be eating that" and ask me how much weight I'd lost all the time and say things like "you're going to look so great in a bikini" which would bug because I knew it wasn't true and was an unrealistic goal. It's not that they were mean. They definitely thought they were being supportive. But their support drove me up the walls at times. At other times, the support was nice though. So it's a double-edged sword. I think the ones who ask how much you've lost can be made to shut up if you never tell them. Say something like, I don't weigh myself that much any more or I'm not concentrating on the pounds but on my health/what size clothes I wear/getting small enough to [insert NSV here]. Another good answer is "a lot!". If you don't give a specific answer, they get tired of answering. For the food police, it's going to be harder. Some people won't stop that crap even if you ask them. But some will if you ask them. Just tell them that you are an adult and that having a lap band doesn't mean being on a diet for the rest of your life, but making healthy choices overall. Also tell them that you are following your doctor's recommendations as to what you can and can't eat. If you have to, lie about it! "My doctor says I should eat cake once in a while so I don't binge." The other thing that will help is time. Someone else will do something to feed the gossip mill or you will get to goal and they'll get used to you at your new size and won't remember to police you.
  6. Wow Nikki, thanks. I didn't even think about nekkid like that as a NSV. You are so right! What a boost. =)
  7. I too find myself "holding my port" sometimes if I've got my legs up a little too far and stuffs a jigglin'. I have found that a good way to be on top both pre-op and post op is to just do squats. I think much like mrusso was describing. I just squat down with the bottoms of my feet on the mattress and my knees horizontal, instead of on the mattress. Once you get in that position its really versatile. If you want to work out your thighs you can move yourself up and down with your legs (Its a really good workout!). If you want to be lazy you can bring your knees toward his chest, get him to bring his legs up behind you and then pull/push you back and forth. I don't know if I'm making any sense. Maybe you can figure it out. I'm 6 feet tall, my highest weight was about 275. My sex NSV is now when I'm on top I can be completely nekkid. I always wore a gown or tshirt before, because I was so self-concious.
  8. I have had a few NSV's too: 1. Wearing clothes that I haven't worn in the past 5 years!!!! 2. Fitting into the seats in the auditorium at my kids school!!! 3. My 16 year old son noticed my arms are getting smaller, he said " Hey, I guess that band really works!" 4. My co-workers call me "baggy pants"!!!

    Checking In

Hey Guys! I know it has been a while, and I apologize for staying away so long. I popped back in to update my ticker, and I've been trying to get through all the posts I've missed. I will write more later, but I just wanted to say hi and let you all know I'm still here. I've had some ups and downs since I was here last. I lost a lot right after surgery, then plateaued for an eternity it seemed. I just got fill number 3, and I can finally feel good restriction. (Almost too good) I sometimes have a hard time even getting soft stuff to go down, especially in the morning. Since I got this last fill, I finally started losing again. I have so many NSV's and other things to share, but I'll read everyone else's posts first. I hope you all are doing well! I've missed you all!!

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!

I LOVE this thread! NSV! I have had a few - - The airplane seat belt fits just fine now - with about an inch to spare! I fly nearly every week and prior to surgery I had to push myself back in the seat and suck it in as much as I could to get it fastened! - I no longer pee my pants when I laugh, sneeze or cough! Life is so good! - The other day, I caught myself crossing my legs! I love to sit with my legs crossed, but haven't been able to for a few years now! I'm going to be on the look out for my next NVS!!! I can hardly wait!

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

I put on my work pants the other day and looked in the mirror and said to myself "i look like crap! why?" and i realized it was because my pants were too big! I could pull out the hip part like 5" and my pants were super baggy and hanging in the croch. So i pulled out a smaller pair of work pants that i havn't been able to wear for a while and they didn't just fit, they were even a little big! I put them on and looked in the mirror and I felt that I acutally looked cute!! My other NSV is that i've been trying on some old dresses cus I'm going to vegas in a few weeks, and I found 5 that fit now and look hot! woo hoo!

    Where is Txarcher?

Good to hear from you! You should NOT feel down. You have just joined the ranks of the many of us who are slow losers. However, I am sure you will soon be back to your rapid loser sttus. Your body is just fighting back a bit. You have put it through quite a lot over the last 7 months. Relax. If you stay the course, the weight will start to drop again. Just remember all you have accomplished and all the many, many NSVs you have (in addition to the SVs).

    Non Scale Victories!

I think we already have a thread going on NSV's...it hasn't been posted to in a while, but this will do nicely too! 1. I painted my toenails yesterday, all by myself 2. I am now wearing the smallest clothes in my closet 3. I wore two SKIRTS to work this week. I forgot what my legs looked like! LOL 4. Sitting down and seeing a waistline. Used to be rolls of fat I'd call my "shelf" 5. Crossing my legs - BIG ONE!!!

Wow insub...you gave me goosebumps reading your NSV'S!!!! Please keep in touch when you travel. if you have no kids this is the time to do it!! suzzzie You are to funny! I don't do those short term goals, or at least don't publically because I feel to much pressure which then results in a gain. I did not know about the 40% or 50% in a year expectation that wombat is talking about until I went for my anniversary fill Tuesday. So, I will accept the 49lb weight loss and move on!! My goal would be to be at my 169/165 weight loss by December! that will be another half a year! Of course I would love it if I was there earlier. I to am tall. I hate hearing people say, "are you at goal?" I still weigh 190! bandaversary!!!!!!! :cool:I took this afternoon off and I am meeting two ladies I met on this site for lunch. We try to get together when we can. We email and chat on line. Both are doing well too. Then on Monday I am meeting another band friend for dinner! it is funny because we have to plan to go somewhere we can at least eat something. I was hoping to buy a new wedding band and reset another ring, but that will be when I meet my goal weight! Have a great weekend!! STay cool, VERY HOT here in VA.
  16. Shelbi, I love you too Sweetpea! "A drive by post" that made me laugh! When I worked in the Ped's clinic doing triage, I used to have the parents bring their rash covered kids to the parking lot and I'd run out and check to see if they had anything contagious! We had a kid walk into a very busy clinic and play in the waiting room and he had the measles! After that we called it "Drive By Rashes" Fun huh? I'm glad you moved that appt up and they figured out what was wrong with hubby! I am sorry to hear it was an MI and there is a block! But I'm glad you have a Cardiac Cath scheduled! Things will get better now and you can get him on the road to being a healthy guy! I hope you enjoy the beach! I'm jealous! Brandy, I'll take you up on that plan -- visit a male stripper at his place of employment AND then we'll find me a man! I hope I didn't offend anyone with my post! I was actually asked out on a blind date for tonight, BUT I got really scared! He's someone I met online! I actually come off pretty well online and on the phone... it's the in person meeting that causes men to suddenly forget their wallets and have to go and get them -- then strangely enough, they never return! It's funny how men can get a picture of me in their minds, even if I've told them that I am overweight. They get this fantasy imagine in their heads from my voice. I've been told I have a nice phone voice. One of my parent's Moms has a 1-900 number and she makes a lot of money... she called the NICU once to see how her grandbaby was doing and I answered. She told me, I could make more money working her 1-900 number than I made working as a nurse. She said, I just had one of those voices. (I have other stories, but it's best not to share them online.):wink2: Mini, I'm going to get a sports car after I'm smaller! Another NSV is that I can now get behind the wheel of my daughter's car EVEN when she has the seat pulled way up for her short little stature! She's 5-3, I'm 5-10. Big difference and previously, if I didn't put the seat back before getting behind the wheel, I'd be stuck and not in a good way! Eek! See ya! dee~
  17. Lap Dancer, Very well put! We do have to just take that leap of faith and do what we have to do! Paying for my surgery meant I lost my house. They were building it for me and it was the perfect home. But I spent part of my downpayment on my surgery. I do not think about it negatively! Because I wouldn't have enjoyed my new home if I continued to weigh what I did and feel as bad as I did. I feel like Fatwidow too, I hate to be left with no money in case of an emergency, but I know the quality of my life sucked. I'm so sad I don't get to meet you at the picnic! BUT I totally understand! Waiting for that new Grandbaby Girl is where I'd be too, if I were you! AND BEST OF all is your weight loss this week! Congrats! I hope I lose! Fatwidow, I know what it's like to be lonely. I had men look through me and past me for many years. But yesterday at work, this guy whom I think is just the cutest on earth, saw me and he smiled really big and said, "what's up Trouble?" he called me "Trouble." I replied, "Nothing much, what's up with you Trouble to the second power?" I know that was a nerdy thing to say, but I didn't know whatelse to say, besides, "You're hot! I'm hotter! Your place or mine?" Every head turned at the nurses' station and they looked to see who he was flirting with. When they looked, he said, "Did you see every one had to look to see who you were?" I replied in my sexiest, come and get me voice, "Yes Sir, I did!" Oh My Goodness, I needed a cigarette after that! Lap, Can I borrow your velvet handcuffs? Wait, I might have a pair of my own! Sorry! Seriously, I know lonely! But I also know that I have a long way to go before any man would enjoy being with me! BUT I'm on my way and closer than I was 4 months ago! Also know that I haven't felt this good in 20 years. I have so much energy and I can do things I haven't done forever! I'm so happy I got my band! Mini! Great news for your Son! That is wonderful news for all of you. Your Son will benefit from his new surroundings and you and Dad will too. Being able to work 3 - 12's and not be totally exhausted afterwards is the best NSV yet! I can't wait til you have your NSV's! Brandy! You're a Mom and Mom's make the best multi-taskers! I'm so glad you're going to be at Red Robin's! I can't wait to see everyone again! Bahotmamma! I'll stay off the road only because I know you're daughter is going to be so excited driving that new vehicle - she might not pay attention! We got my daughter a new car for Christmas after high school graduation. I was so excited, I couldn't wait for Christmas to give it to her! I had to drive to her friends' house at 10pm the night I got to town to give her the car. The sad thing is we had it parked in some friends' garage and they have two teen-age boys and the poor guys thought it was for them! AND I have to say, you're lucky to have that man of your's chasing you! Enjoy being caught Girlie! Munchkin! You pretty lady, You! I have to tell everyone here, I think you're adorable! I hope I get to see you again sometime! AFTER you get your feeties fixed! Mal! I got to buy new undies last night in a size 20!!! Wow! Can you believe that? did you really want to know that? Probably not! But I had to share! Well Guys, I figured out how many minutes I worked out in the Month of May and it totaled 1207.18 mins! Can you believe that? Me? Working out? NO WAY! Not Ms D. Slowsky! The Slug of Littleton! The Slouth of Colorado! NO WAY Jose! YES WAY!!! AND I rode 207 miles! I could have gone from Littleton to Vail and back again! AMAZING! FREAKING AMAZING! OKay, I gotta go now and dream of Mr. Dreamy! Hugs! dee~
  18. Well, what a great day on this forum!! DEE!! A huge NSV. You must be so happy about the positive changes in your health and stamina. You've come such a long way. LAP!! Congrats on your weight loss. Bitch-slappin' that head hunger made a big difference! Munchkin - I don't know you, but I'm so happy that you can fit into a size large. Someday, someday . . . Too bad about your PF. I have it bad in both feet and I am really hoping it will clear up without surgery. And, yes, do tell us about your dogs. Bahot - That's so awesome that your husband is chasing you around the house. I told my hubby that I'll buy some lingerie when I lose weight. He hasn't seen me in anything but sweats and t-shirts in bed for a loooonnng time. Deb - I don't feel that the rate I got at Holiday Inn was all that great. Dee suggested that I call and talk to a manager, so I may give that a try tomorrow. I'll be curious to see what they quote you. I had a good (non-weight related) thing today. I have a 26 year old son with paranoid schizophrenia who has also battled addiction for several years. He's sober now and stabilized on his meds. We met with his case manager today and he is going to try moving into a supported living apartment. This is a huge step for him and I just wanted to share because I'm very excited for him to take this step.

    Non Scale Victories!

Hi all! I saw a thread like this in the January 2008 Bandsters and thought it would be a nice idea for us avengers to try, I know it hasn't been that long but I bet (like me) there are lots of people who havn't lost a huge amount of weight but something has happened to them lately that made them think YES! My NSV's: 1. Having my dad say a pair of shorts I had never been able to wear before looked good- He had (he's had WLS too) a weight problem himself and I always felt he was critical of my weight, so the compliment felt a million times better then anything anyone else could have said. 2. Trying on a skirt I bought and was previously unable to do up, only to find it fits PERFECTLY now- not only that but it's GORGEOUS! Subsequently trying on everything in my wardrobe (I mean EVERYTHING!) and not having to squeeze my way into anything  I look forward to sharing in some of your NSV's!
  20. Hey! Does anyone think those pink peeps are Band Friendly? I just wondered! I actually hate those things, but I called you all "Peeps" so I wondered if you are all Band Friendly! Finally, the end of my long day! An extra shift is a BIG NSV for me! Previously, I would never work 3 - 12's in a row and if we were extra busy and I had to go in on call, I made sure it was not backed up against my long stretch on! I would have died! WELL, I just finished working my 3rd - 12 and I'm going back on Saturday to do a 4th this week. It may not sound like much, but last night I was there til 9pm and tonight til 8pm. I get there at 620am. After work tonight, I went to Lane Bryant to get some new undies! A smaller size! Yeah BABY! Hi Fatwidow! I remember you really well! Nice to see you're back. I remember we talked previously about having the Band when your BMI is high? Mine was over 60 when I had my surgery. I have done very well and haven't regretted my choice once. The thing that made me choose the band is because there is no cutting of the stomach. RNY aka Gastric Bypass and the Vertical Gastric Sleeve both have to cut the stomach. IF my band failed, I would try to do it without another surgery. IF I found I couldn't make it on my own, I'd get the sleeve. BUT I would be very afraid of it because of the cutting of the stomach. The risks are higher when your stomach is cut. That is just my opinion. My insurance insisted that the Band wouldn't be a good choice because the weight loss is too slow and I have so much to lose. I have had several friends get RNY. One is totally disabled in a nursing home due to problems related to her surgery. She's 38 years old. Another weighed almost 500lbs and she had her surgery last June. Almost a year ago and she's only lost 90lbs. I can't say that's bad, but it's not necessarily quick! The band is slower, that is usually true, but it's not the case with everyone. Every person is different, regardless of the surgery they choose. It has to be your decision. Go to Obesity Help and read some of the posts on each forum. Ask them questions about their surgery... read about each procedure and the pros and cons. Good Luck! Mini! I think my fill is good. I'll be ready by the 19th of June for my next one, but for now, this one is doing it's job! I don't like to be too tight, I try to listen carefully to my body and stop when I get my runny nose (my soft sign). Mini, did you call and get a good rate at the Holiday Inn Select? Deb! I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Select in Parker several times. I stayed there 3 nights in a row during a blizzard 12/06. I work at the hospital in Parker and they couldn't get nurses in and we couldn't get home, so the hospital paid for us to stay there for 3 nights. They drove us there each evening and picked us up each morning. The beds are ultra comfy and the rooms are lovely and very clean. I then stayed there again during a spring storm and things were just as comfy and nice. I read on here where someone, I am sorry, I can't remember who, stayed at the hotel and they went out of their way to treat her nice. She had lost her pre and post-op meds and needed the enema for the night before surgery and her pain meds for after the surgery. She didn't have a car since she flew in and came by taxi. Someone from the hotel went to Walgreens and got the meds for her. I thought that was so nice! Mal! How's it going Sweety? Anita! Are you going to be at Red Robin's next week? Michelle! Lovegirl! How's life? Don't forget Peeps, Red Robin June 11th, Wednesday @ 7pm at the Red Robin's at Arapahoe and I-25. Hugs to all! dee~

    Checking in

Hi Michelle! I know what you mean about the four months. It seems like just a few weeks ago we were sweating out waiting for surgery! I'm with you on not being too tight. I definitely know I have restriction this morning. I was drinking my shake and gurgled a bit so I know I was tweaked good. The true test will be tomorrow when I get back on real food. Congrats on the shorts NSV!!!! I love those! I'm not ready for shorts yet but it seems I have to go buy a new pair of jeans every couple of weeks! It's really hard to try and figure out what size I am as I am making the transition from plus size to misses! Yeah! It's a pain but one I will gladly bear! I cut my hair short once. I really liked it. It was so easy to take care of. But everyone else said I looked like Sharon Osborne (Ozzy's wife) so I decided to grow it back out (not that she looks bad or anything!) I've now gone completely off the deep end and bleached the underneath sections of my hair while keeping the top black. It's a really cool rock and roll effect especially with the shag hair style but my family thinks I've gone off the deep end. My 16 year old daughter thinks it's cool though! LOL The one nice thing about hair is that it will always grow out! Keep up the great work!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hi, Shamrocks! I'm checking back in again after lurking a little. It seems we're all making progress (some faster than others), and that's great. Don't get discouraged if you feel like you're backsliding -- we can do this together! Okay, enough cheerleading for a second. (Boy, if you knew me, you'd never think cheerleader!) Here's my NSV: I survived a weeklong trip to Canada for a training course where I'd be with people all day and part of each evening. It was me plus 5 guys, and they made me eat and drink like a man (and yes, Fenton, I enjoyed it). Steaks, Bloody Caesars (like a Bloody Mary but with Clamato juice :frown:), scotch, and even cheesecake one night. I truly don't think I've eaten so much meat in one week ever! Beef every single day. I did my drinking before dinner (or much later), focused on my Protein, small bites, and chewing. I ate much slower than everyone, but they attributed that to my gender. (They don't know about the band.) Only one minor PB incident when I tried to eat an early morning bite of quiche -- I must not have been awake enough to realize I hadn't chewed it fully, but at least I wasn't with people at the time. My SV: I went in for a fill today and found out that I'm now merely 'Obese'. YAY! :biggrin2:

    One Month Anniversary Check In

Hi all! i hit my one month on the 29th. I've been feeling great the last 2 weeks and I've lost a total of 15 lbs, although I have been at the same weight for the past 10-12 days. i'm hoping that my plateau will end soon, i've been experimenting with different foods to see what I can tolerate. I had a problem at 2 1/2 weeks with a piece of "stuck" food, something I never want to go through again, and it has made me very cautious eating anything that might swell up in my little stomach. my NSV of the month: i've lost most of my "butt shelf"!!

    Nymphs Weight Loss To Date

Foofy! I would kill for this last pound but for goodness sake it just won't drop off my body. How can 90lbs be so freaking easy and this last 10lbs take over 2 months. It is alright though because I have come along way. I just started water aerobics about 3 weeks ago and I love it. I am feeling it in my clothes. I am also lifting weights 2 days per week and water aerobics 3 days a week. I take the weekends off because I work at my store. I have found that eating is more difficult since my last fill. I have to be very careful or I am in major pain. This band is very finnicky and when I think I have figured it out it throws me another curve ball. The batteries went dead on my scale yesterday so I haven't been able to weigh myself. I am getting one tomorrow so I hope this dang pound is gone. I just want to hit 100lbs and be done with it. After that I have only one more goal to get to my wedding weight of 220lbs. At the rate that I am going it will be freaking next year before that happens but you know this is a lifestyle change and I have the rest of my life to lose it. By the way, you doing great. I love seeing you slow losers losing...you may surpass Archer and me at anytime now. By the way, the size 22's fit. I haven't seen size 22 in 14 years; since prior to my oldest son's birth. Wow that is a really long time. I just keep focusing on the NSV's that I am having with this 99lb loss so far and it really helps. Keep up the great work and thanks for asking. Cindy
