    Happy Bandiversary Jessiebear

Yep Vines, that's a great idea! What a better way to honor my 1 year Bandiversary than with my top ten NSVs! So, here it goes...... 1. Sex has never been better! & it just keeps getting better! 2. I can paint my own toenails again! 3. I can wear jeans again! 4. When I look in the mirror, I look different to myself (I just noticed this today)! 5.I have cut my BP meds in half. I need to get in to see my doc cause I think I could probably come off of them now. (I promise I am monitoring it myself. I won't let it get too low!) 6. When we took a trip to Branson before Christmas, I was the only one who was able to climb all the stairs at the Branson Belle without stopping & without getting out of breath! 7. At Christmas my little cousin proclaimed that "Jessie now has a lap" cause she was sitting on it! 8. When I went for my last fill, I had room on both sides of me on the gurney! 9. When I take a bath, I now have Water all the way around me! 10. I have lost 12.25 inches from head to toes since January 5, 2006. I really wish I had been keeping track of this since the very beginning. I'm gonna have to dig around cause I think I took some measurements before the surgery.

    BIGGEST NSV yet!

Holy cow am I excited! I didn't intend to buy a pair of pants today but I just wanted to try on a couple to see where I was at. I went into a local Farm and Ranch store and spoke to the gal there. I showed her what I was dealing with I'm told her what size I was and that I was tired of looking like I was wearing a diaper on my ass everywhere that I went. She suggested based upon my current size that I go to 35x30. This lady is absolutely insane was my freaking thought! Imagine my surprise when they were actually too loose! I needed a 34x30! Several weeks ago I got out of my van at a customer's place and my shorts fell off my butt. I really didn't think that I was quite this far along. I will officially be 6 weeks out tomorrow and I've lost 7 pounds since Monday! I'm down 47 pounds since starting my pre op diet on 8/29. I'm officially the lowest weight that I've been in mt ENTIRE adult life at 265 pounds! It was such an adrenaline rush that I actually bought the dang pants even though I wasn't intending to. Last weekend with my diaper ass Levis. Today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(perhaps to many exclamation points? Heck no!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Suggested Mini-goals

My first very mini goal is to get under 200lbs - that should be soon I hope. 2nd mini goal is to get under 90 kilos which is around 196 lbs. That one will make me very happy. My first big NSV is to finally have my regular clothes too big. I have lost 10 kilos or over 20 lbs and my clothes still fit Why didn't anyone tell me they were sooo tight...

    Hiatal hernia repair

Hi. I'm new to this site but had my VSG 8/14/14. With the liquids, you are doing the right thing with trying different temperatures. You may want to take smaller sips. At one point my sips were just getting the tip of my tongue wet. What really helped me was walking while I drank my Water. I don't mean a stroll. I was moving my legs! The moving helped the water pass without feeling like someone kicked me in my chest. May I suggest that you put the scale away. You are three days out from surgery. Standing on the scale every day will do nothing but drive you batty. I still don't have a scale in my house because I am compulsive. I would weigh several times a day if it was right there in my home. In the beginning I just waited until my surgeon visits to find my weight. I was never disappointed. I didn't have that dreaded 3 week stall everyone gripes about. I weighed in the doctor's office during the week 1 visit and weighed again during the week 3 visit. Guess what....the weight was down. No stall. After a few weeks, I picked Monday as my official weigh in and just plot my weight once a week on a graph. Some people plot their weight once a month. This way I don't get caught up in the day to day fluctuations your body will make. Before surgery I wrote a list of NSVs I wanted to achieve. This way I could Celebrate something in the event the scale doesn't move from one week to another. Who cares that I didn't lose 1 pound this week because I was able to button a pair of pants that I haven't worn in yearssssss!!!! Just find other ways to celebrate.

    Hiatal hernia repair

NSV stands for non-scale victory. I do weigh myself every day (along with journaling every thing I eat and all my exercise) and i notice that my body goes through stages of losing... i'll hit a new low number, fluctuate around that number bouncing back up a few pounds, back down some, then hit another new low or stall for a week or so before it starts moving again. I'm ok with this. What helps is also measuring yourself every once in a while because usually when the scale isnt moving my body is busy changing shape or working on muscle or something else. one recent NSV I can claim is losing 2 dress sizes. So, my 40 lb weight loss in 3 months may not be as much weight loss as lots of others can claim, but I'm happy with it. I also have picked Friday as my weekly day to evaluate how well i'm losing and it seems my rate of loss is 1-2 lbs per week which I think is pretty healthy and I'm happy with that, too. Anyway good luck to you and I hope the burning when you drink stops soon. It may just be some wounded tissue from the hiatal hernia repair and when it heals that will hopefully stop.

    New Inspiration to Exercise

What a beautiful picture, that actually bought tears to my eyes when I thought about how utterly fantastic you must feel. I eye workout clothes enviously too. Did you know you're an inspiration to me? Similar start weight, similar goal weight, same surgeon and even NSV's that I covet, lol. You have done a really really remarkable job, you should be darn proud of yourself.

Envious of friend that has had GB

There's an old saying, the grass is always greener on the other side. It's only human nature that you envy her for her rapid weight loss as you are in the process of losing weight yourself, albeit slower. I doubt very seriously that there are very many banded people who haven't at one time or another questioned our original decision and thought about what if. It's human nature. If we could take a pill and wake up thin tomorrow, there would be a line wrapping around the globe itself to get that pill. I'd be in it, I know. Stating that she eats anything and everything isn't possible without her suffering some really adverse side effects. We all know that, but if you are basing this on her word alone, don't be so easily taken in by her. If you have witnessed her yourself eating things that she shouldn't be able to, I doubt if you get to see her bodies reaction to it. Besides, what is she learning, how to continue her unhealthy habits, resulting in the usual outcome eventually? Instead of putting down your own accomplishment, which is wonderful BTW, try giving yourself credit and be proud. You are doing what you felt was best for you at the time you made the decision. Try to remember those reasons why you opted to be banded vs GB. Those reasons were important to you then and still should be. You are losing at a perfectly normal healthy rate. You are also learning to make better food choices and living a healthier lifestyle. You cannot tell me that after all of the weight you have lost, you haven't noticed any changes, it would be impossible. Think NSV, write them down and remind yourself of what has changed for you. Do you not have more energy? Are you not wearing a smaller size? Are you sincerely not happier than you were before you lost this weight? Sorry to go on like this, but I think you are selling yourself short. You do not deserve to be treated like that, even by yourself. You are better than that, recognize it and respond to the positive thinking rather than the negative. Take care of yourself, please. I personally think you are doing a wonderful job and I know I am not alone here in thinking that. Cindy
  17. Well im down to 200 . If I get naked. Do I dare to try to fit in my smaller pants. YES I have dropped a pants size too. I am now out of my fat pants.Kackies with a strech band.Strech slacks. They were getting saggy in the front belly area.So under the bed I have a box of blue jeans size 40 and I have not been able to where them in two years. I had at least 7 pairs. They still look new so I put them away in hope I would get back in then.I DID. Back in the jeans and boots again. The old new me.Out of the strechy grandma stuff. Even though I am a grandma now does not mean I have to look like one.It was getting to the point that was all I could find in the bigger sizes looked like my mother would wear.Cant wait till I get in a 14 and can find some really cute stuff. Hey im only 42.LOL

    My Very 1st NSV !!!

Well has many of you know I threw my back out two weeks before surgery & was completly not walking for most of that time. So the Hidden blessing was that all my neighbors/friends/family knew this & had seen me taking 15 mins to get into cars for doctor appts & stuff. I am a closet bandster. Many have helped out cutting the grass or walking the dog. So when I had my surgery I just continued to tell them how bad my back was & that it wasn't any better & the Docs said at least 2 more weeks. In reality my back has been much better BUT having 5 NEW HOLES in my gut have made walking & moving difficult. OK so here is the Nsv - it a small one but still made me so happy. A neighbor saw me outside & came over to see how I had been doing. She said that she could see I wasn't feeling well because I look like I had lost weight.LOL She said my face looked skinner. I said really- I haven't been eating that much because of the drugs for my back.LOL LOL I am down 15pds. total--8 pds since surgery, only 9 days ago. WHOO HOO!!!

    Cold

Me too! That is the strangest but nicest NSV so far for me. I sweat in the winter, spring, summer, and fall. Now I am chilly all of the time and freezing at work. They look at me at work and say with disbelief "you are cold"?. I love it!! Vines and all you other ladies remember this you are not having Hot flashes! Just your own private summers!!! LOL
  23. Ok.. this is funny so be ready to giggle.. Katerzz's NSV of the day: When your nurse whos giving you an unfill tells you its time to retire my pants. She tells me, "they are wayyyy to big on you i cant believe you can keep them up" (btw.. the pants.. i love them they are black silky pants that ive had for years Granted, almost 70 lbs later.. well ya you get the picture) HAHAHAHA I'm loving it... (i think the fresh water is going to my head after that unfill)

Corrine, Great going!!!!! There's not a worse feeling in the world to try on a new outfit and it doesn't fit, but then there's no better feeling than trying on something that didn't fit and have it be too big or fit juuuusst riiiight!!! I am so very happy for you and thank you for sharing your inspiring NSV. It has made my day and I will think of you whenever I choose anything to eat in the future. Way to go!!!!! The band works!!!!!!! Cindy
