Thank you, Yes I am stable in my weight and have been since the surgery BUT I want to lose about 20lbs more I just want to know the caloric intake and how many oz to eat, how many meals a day? etc I am so frustrated that I have no help... I had an eating schedule 10 am breakfast 1 pm lunch 5 pm dinner with 7am yogurt and 8 pm yogurt *but then i was told by a family member in the medical field, they have never seen anyone with this surgery have a "schedule"* So I stopped the schedule and gained 5lbs, so back on it i went Thank you so much for your reply

I am almost 3 months out and struggle to eat anything resembling a meal because my stomach only allows tiny meals. I buy tiny pots of stuff from the supermarket. I got really fed up of the leftovers I had to throw away. For breakfast I might have a boiled egg or plain yogurt with home made apple sauce { frozen in a ice cube mould } or a passion fruit. Or a banana and peanut butter milkshake Lunch might be some kind of pate on 2 or 3 tiny melba toasts or some seafood in a sauce with steamed veg from a frozen packet. Or a tuna mayo salad, a small baked potato with cheese and a few baked beans, Dinner, chilli, chicken mince curry, Chinese minced chicken in lettuce cups, smoked salmon and scrambled egg, 1/2 Avocado with prawn mayo I try for 2 snacks a day. cream cheese with mini bread sticks, ham rolled with cream cheese, homemade soup made with milk and extra milk powder, mozzerella and tomato, jerky, chicken wings, however you have them, a sausage. Hope I have given you some ideas.

I would agree that chicken noodle soup isn't a great idea at first - the chicken breast can be hard to eat and the noodles are just empty carbs, but why are you avoiding chili? I eat that a lot! It's a great source of protein, complex carbs/fiber (the beans) and veggies. Make sure you're getting your protein in. When I have chili I add FF greek yogurt in place of sour cream and some shredded cheese. I also use those on top of refried beans (really easy to eat in the soft food stage) and taco meat. I still eat a lot of FF sugar free greek yogurt, like Light and Fit brand, plus the plain unflavored to add to foods. I don't like the protein drinks, but I still have one every days or I can't get my protein in. You can get chili at lots of restaurants, and it's easy to make your own. I like going to Chipotle to get a "bowl" with no rice or lettuce, with some sort of meat, cheese, hot sauce, sour cream, and beans and that's enough for a few meals. I also like Barber chicken breasts that you can cook in a toaster or regular oven. I eat half of one of those plus some mashed cauliflower. You can also make "ground turkey stroganoff" (recipe can be googled) and freeze it in individual portions (I do the same with my chili) so you can have it ready in two minutes. 20 oz of ground turkey plus a lb of mushrooms is 8 servings for me. I find that ground meat is easier to chew and digest. Eggs are hard for some people to digest, but that's an easy thing to cook. Something else I make is a Joseph's low carb tortilla stuffed with Goya Chorizo flavor refried beans and shredded cheese, cooked in a pan, then served with FF greek yogurt. One tortilla (made like a quesadilla) makes two meals for me.

Fallen off the wagon at 3 months post op
lizonaplane replied to ac0181's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with trying to see a therapist, but that can be very hard to find if you didn't do your surgery with a big surgery center in the US or where you live. I've heard that places outside the US (especially Mexico, Turkey, etc) don't provide much support after surgery, and I know from experience that finding a therapist trained in weight issues can be very hard. I would try to work on things like figuring out what you are feeling when you decide to order take out. Are you tired, bored, sad, angry, lonely? If any of these things are the problem, eating take out is not the solution. If you wait until you are over tired or way too hungry to eat, you are more likely to make bad choices with what to eat. It's not hard to keep better choices on hand. Try keeping low sugar flavored Greek yogurt, tuna, protein shakes, cheese, fruit, etc on hand. I travel a lot so I eat out, but I try to choose the best possible option (high protein, low carb) and when I'm home, I make something with ground turkey or chicken like chili, taco meat, ground turkey stroganoff, etc and divide it in portions to freeze so I always have something that takes two minutes to heat up. It takes much less time than ordering take out. I don't wait after drinking to eat (my surgery center said we didn't have to) but I definitely don't drink after eating - it's painful to me, plus we were told it would just flush the food down our stomach and we'd be hungry sooner. Try to get yourself to track, even if it's only every other day. You said you've been working since May 2021 on getting this surgery. There's no second chance after this. Even if you have a revision surgery, you may not lose much weight. It's now or never. -
Loving Protein-Packed Kodiak Bear Bites

To me, those are cookies. It has 5g of added sugar for only 30 grams of food. That's a lot of sugar!!! Sure, they have some protein, but so does yogurt, cheese, protein drinks, beans, meat, tofu, ... It might be nice for a treat, but only if I could stop myself at one serving. -

So happy to hear you are rescheduled!! I just started to look at food/shake combinations that will keep me below 50 gm of carbs per day. I am allowed either shakes or lean meat and veggies for my 4 meal per day. I think I am going to do shakes for breakfast and lunch. A protein water and yogurt for a snack and then meat and veggies for dinner. Most of the days I planned out came to 750 calories, 40 g carbs, 95 g protein, and 20 g fat. My diet is to be high protein, low fat, low carb, low calorie for 2 weeks. Since I could just drink shakes 4 times per day for 2 weeks if I wanted (which I don't), I used that as a guide for my macros and calories goals (max 1000 calories, 80-120 g protein, 50 g carbs, 24 g fat). Its going to be tough and monotonous but its only for 2 weeks...right? -
Food Before and After Photos

Ground turkey stroganoff for lunch today. I used 20oz of lean ground turkey and 16 oz of baby bella mushrooms. It made 8 servings. On the left is the serving, to which I added FF greek yogurt. I could only eat about half today. Usually I can eat the full serving (about a half cup plus about 1.5 oz of yogurt). I was trying to also eat some roasted fennel I made, but I didn't make much progress. -
I don't have any suggestions for you for pre-op, since I mostly ate lean meat (I've never been good at cooking tofu!). However, my stomach is fine with cheese, so I eat a lot of high fat dairy. Some people DO become lactose intolerant, but not all cheese has lactose. Also, kefir is more sour than bitter. It's also not necessarily high fat. I add a lot of fat free greek yogurt to my meals to add protein and flavor. It's great with chili, which can be done vegetarian post surgery when you can have beans again (I was permitted beans on pre-op).

Started my pre-op liquid diet today and it has been hard. I got lots of sample packs of different protein shakes and waters to try. My pre-op diet is 2 shakes and 1 can of broth based soup and 1-2 Sf jello, yogurt or cottage cheese. I have a water jug for bariatric peeps that holds 64 ounces. It has times on the side so you can keep up with getting it all in. It has little encouraging phrases along the way. Im having trouble finishing it all now. Im scared of how difficult it’s going to be post surgery. I guess practice makes perfect. I had my last pre surgery appt with nutritionist this morning. I am trying to keep myself busy to stop thinking about food. -

The yogurt and creamy broths I was able to start 4 days post. I’m now waiting to move to phase 3 where I can start incorporating ground beef, Turkey, sauce and other things. -

Everything I've seen is that it's the exact same surgery. My surgery was on Wednesday, I ended up in the 2% complication club and just got home today but wasn't having problems in hospital with yogurt, dutch pudding, broth and things like that. They had offered pureed meat and veg a couple of times but I ended up back in the OR and then slept the next day recovering. It's interesting to see the differences and outside the complications so far I'm really happy. I don't know what the complications will mean for my progress early but I'm hoping it isn't too big a problem. -

That is very different. I’m in Iowa, USA and my instructions for the first two weeks is strictly liquid. Items that can fit through a straw and only 2 ounces at a time. So all day sipping either water or a protein drink is what I’m doing. This is for both the bypass and sleeve. It could be they do surgery a bit different and so it allows more to go through at a time. My list I was given says protein drinks, unsweetened applesauce, sugar free pudding or jello after protein goal for the day is met, light yogurt or light Greek yogurt, broth or cream soup, plain cream of wheat or V8 tomato juice. Again, only a quarter of a cup/2 ounces at a time. This will be for two weeks which I’m on day four post surgery. Wishing you all of the very best, I’m everything from excited to nervous, 😂, but will use this amazing tool for the rest of my life and my eating habits. -
I didn't bake for probably a year after surgery. My husband was on board because he really wanted to be as helpful as he could with helping me on my weight loss journey. If he wanted a baked good, he went out somewhere and bought it. I do bake sometimes now (I'm almost seven years out) - but I use artificial sweeteners, use Greek yogurt or unsweetened applesauce to replace the fat, and use something like bran to replace part of the flour. And I usually add unflavored or vanilla protein powder, too.

Crying over granola
OutdoorsGirl replied to suzannethemom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could you try making your own granola with whole grains? After surgery, I wouldn’t try it until you can move to solid food. I sometimes mix a tablespoon of seeds/nuts with a few ounces of 0 fat plain Greek yogurt and it tastes pretty good. You could probably toast some whole grain oatmeal flakes with nuts and seeds to give you the crunch of granola. After surgery, you’ll probably be satisfied with a small amount, so it won’t be a big deal. -

you said it! Prior to surgery, I would have eaten a bowlful of it. Now I have to limit it to a couple of tablespoons on top of Greek yogurt. This far out, eating it doesn't bother my stomach - but the calories - YIKES! -

I also love Greek yogurt and granola. Where I would have eaten it every day before surgery, I now eat it just occasionally. I eat Nature's Path Love Crunch because the sugar, fat and calories are lower than the type I used to eat. I also switched to high protein/zero sugar Greek yogurt. I eat pretty much everything I used to eat, but in healthier versions and a lot smaller portions. Find what works for you to avoid feeling deprived and sad that you need to "give up" certain foods. Good luck!! -
Crying over granola
GreenTealael replied to suzannethemom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it seems like such a little thing but giving up foods is hard. Did the dietitian have suggestions or substitutes? (And for what it’s worth I *could* eat granola in my yogurt at this point but I choose nuts instead for the crunchy texture) -
Yesterday I met with the dietitian. I don’t have a surgery date yet, but she is having me start a 1,300 calorie diet with 45% carbs, 30% protein and 25% fat. No refined carbs. I was writing down healthy snack ideas like Greek yogurt with granola (my favorite). Then I saw that granola is not allowed because it is a refined carb. I started crying! I think I was crying more about the idea of a diet than the actual granola. It’s been an emotional week for me as I launch forward on my WLS journey. All my tests are done. Two appointments left (follow up with psychologist and dietician). It finally feels like this is really happening.

Surgeon's advice after vomiting
summerseeker replied to lizonaplane's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have random bouts of vomiting every week. Not like the last 10 weeks though. 1 meal will be fine and the day after its a no no. I vomit saliva, not froth. I dont understand it at all. I dont do liquids the day after, I need nutrients badly so I start on things I know are ok with my tummy. Yogurt is a big soother. The gummy vitamins went straight in the trash as soon as I could swallow ordinary multivitamins and iron from the supermarket. I do morning and before bed with these. Thats working fine. I was given soluble Calcium but I can not stomach it and as I am seeing my dietician tomorrow, I will ask about alternates for this. I was told to book a Vitamin B12 injection every 12 weeks for life so have this in 10 days time. Does anyone else get this ? -

Today is first day I didn’t have a loss on the scale. Actually put 1/2 lb on 252!!!! As I’m reading this, I’m getting ready to go walk at gym. I had my 11.5 oz fairlife chocolate protein shake for breakfast. Water while walking. 1 cup of tomatoe vegetable(strained of course) soup for lunch . More water, Okios pro yogurt for dinner. Hot tea and jello cup for dessert. I still have 4 week before I head back to work. Loving the process so far, looking forward to phase 3 next week with purée veggies and chopped meat!! -

Hello all! I definitely am protecting the pouch! The most strenuous thing I’ve had is 2 tablespoons of Greek yogurt! :) I broke my stall today! I’m now 244.6 with a 2 pound weight loss!! I’m so happy! Definitely thinking the fact that I hit my liquid goal yesterday had to do with the loss. Staying hydrated is super important! My meals yesterday… 20 oz coffee Protein Drink (fairlife coffee flavor with Starbucks blonde cold brew black coffee) 2 tablespoons of Greek yogurt About 4 oz of a creamy puréed chicken bacon potato Soup. And lots of water! Today I’ll be taking my Christmas tree down. Well- everything but the actual tree due to the weight restriction. Then I’ll go walk at the gym. Only today and tomorrow left of my medical leave. Back to work on Saturday night. :) -
2 weeks post op - not feeling full
Dcsjoc replied to ianc74's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Im 8 days post op and I never feel hungry. But I think I get restless which is my body saying to eat., I drink my fairlife protein shake around 8:30am and then every 2-3 hours and eat yogurt. Or 1 cup of creamy soup(tomatoe/vegetable) I drink water in between the 2-3 hour meals. By the time dinner comes around I might have 2 soft boiled eggs or another shake. I have a cup of tea with Splenda to end my night. I’m hoping this stays the course as I start introducing solid foods. -
18 days post-op. Left side pain, can't drink shakes
summerseeker replied to CowboyKurt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had problems like you from the get go. Its quite difficult to get to all your protein and water in. At 9 weeks out, I have not, ever reached my goals. I cant do the shakes or drinks either. I have tried all the ones available in the Uk. My dietician says just eat what you can. I still aim for 6 small snack meals a day. Every week I try something different, mostly its a fail but some times I am surprised by a win. Tuna mayo on 2 small crackers went down a treat. Win win. Yesterday I made Mussels in a Thai broth. The 8 small, well chewed mussels went down fine but the broth had to wait to be eaten separately later. Animal meats, no matter how well cooked are still a no no. Bread of any kind - not on your nelly. Vegetables other than in a soup form and in place of a snack meal - no room at the inn. A typical days eating is Breakfast - 75gms yogurt or 30 gms porridge. Lunch - Surimi sticks or a egg mayo. Snack 1 - mushroom soup. Dinner - pate or tuna mayo and crackers. Snack 2 Cheese. Snack 3- fruit ice lolly. I drink milky coffee [ because I am allowed] I have given up on the gummy vitamins and soluble calcium, both give me nausea. I replaced them with tablet form ones. On the plus side, I am less wobbly and able to do more everyday. on the down side I haven't lost any weight for a month. I see my dietician this week so I will see what she says -
I like the premier shakes and at 9 months out still have 1 almost every day because I just prefer to knock half my protein out without thinking about it. My tastes did not change after surgery. P3 snack packs are great to have on hand for a quick lunch, I always have deli turkey in the fridge too, eggs, turkey jerky and jerky sticks, greek yogurt, eggwich's are a good breakfast option. Wasa bread thin cracker things, good thin crackers, rice cakes. I drink a ton of gatorade zero, body armour lyte, and diet iced tea as well. Even though my tastes didn't change after surgery I still wouldn't recommend stocking up too much on anything. Even if you like something you may get sick of it. Variety helps keep things interesting.

When did you start eating fruits? (Carbs content)
DaisyAndSunshine replied to DaisyAndSunshine's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Currently at my stage, I use refried bean for a taco bowl of a type - Refried beans with some taco spice, cheese, salsa and skyr yogurt (which replaces sour cream and is high in protein). My favorite meal of the day 😂
