  1. No worries! What you are going through is COMPLETELY NORMAL. You just had major surgery, your body is in shock and adjusting. Like you said, you know you aren't eating enough (it's physically impossible) for you to gain. It's a combination of Water, shock from the surgery, the dreaded 3 week stall (search the forum for "The Dreaded 3 Week Stall" and it will give you an idea of why this happens. One thing I will say is stay off the scale right now. You have more important things to worry about right now like getting your liquids and Protein. Try really hard to not weigh yourself every day, it just causes undo anxiety that you don't need. Hop on in a couple more weeks and you will be pleasantly surprised. I promise! Hang in there!
  2. Whew! I was gonna be really mad at myself if I had already screwed this up! I have a Protein shake in the morning, then some cream of wheat for lunch, and either a scrambled egg or some refried Beans w/cheese for dinner. Last night I just started on some tuna. Im eating around 700-800 calories a day. I'm getting my protein & Water goal, but I also did have a 3 week stall. Basically, the only week I've lost is the week of my surgery. The nurse practitioner kinda got on to me for not losing any more (15 lbs post-op) and for eating too much. ???? I've only had pain a couple of times and then it was one bite I was fine, then the next bite just put me over the edge. I don't know if I've encountered any slider foods yet, I'm not sure I'd recognize it if I did! Thanks for the reassurance y'all!
  3. I have been stalled / fluctuation the same 3 lbs for the past MONTH ! I am not even 3 months post op. I had surgery on Oct 14th. I stopped losing right after thanksgiving and have been fluctuating since. It's now a new year and I want to get back to losing. How common is a month long stall? I was reading that stalls happen at 3 months. I was early with my 3 week stall and got it at 2 weeks. Maybe I got a month long stall at 2 months instead of 3? I thought about doing the 5 day sleeve test to get my system back on track. As far as inches, I did lose, but as of lately (past several weeks) I haven't lose any inches. I'm just super frustrated and need to know how common this is or if I need to call my DR ? Here's my month chart .. Frustrating !! Thanks for letting me vent !

    november sleevers.

@@Aranks, it's good to hear that you are doing fairly well, i had my surgery on Nov 6 th, I've lost about 34 lbs, but now I'm at a 3 week stall so that's a bummer.anyways i go back to work on Monday, let's see how that goes. I'm feeling pretty good lots of energy.
  5. I Finally ended a 3 week stall & broke the 230 mark!

  6. I have been reading these forums for a little while and read all about the 3 week stall. Well, clearly my body couldn't wait 3 weeks and I have been stalled since 7 days post op. What gives???!!!! I had lost 6 kilos post op, 9.6 kilos all up and was feeling good! Then bam. Stalled. I know its not going to last but it makes me feel crappy and like I am not doing the right thing! And yes, I know I have to stop replying on the scales as a measure. I have just been so big for so long, it felt so good seeing the scale go down and down. I was 146.6 kilos at the start of all this and now I am 137 kilos. Leaving the 140 kilos was a massive achievement as I never thought I would get out! Now I'm in the 130s ans want to be in the 120s. I just need to chill and let my body do its thing! Just needed to vent

    Honeymoon phase?

Post op the weight just seemed to fall off daily. The. I hit the "3 week stall" it's true where things got real. I even gained which freaked me out! However post op the focus shouldn't be on the scale. The focus should be on getting in protein and liquid and following dr orders. All else will fall into place. The closer you get to goal the slower the weight loss will become.... I'm only 7wks out but have a long journey ahead of myself. Just don't view the surgery as the "easy" way because it is far from that... It is difficult and you must learn your new sleeve.
  8. I think I've hit another stall. I'm still losing but only about a pound a week. I have been trying to get over 1200 calories a day and its hard. I'm eating high calorie foods and not gaining but not losing as much. I passed the 3 week stall. Now I guess I'm in a new stall. Any tips ? I'm so close to my goal.
  9. I understand why and I'm okay with it (besides, I lost another 1/2 inch off my waist this week). Just grousing about it, though - I want to see the numbers move again! Also, for those of you who didn't tell anyone, maybe you were right. Everyone around me is so nice about things, but they all keep asking me how much I've lost now, and I really don't want to give them the same number I did a week ago!!

    Question for the Men...

I started losing 2 weeks before surgery as they had me on the optifast liquid shakes, that was honestly the hardest part of all this for me. I gagged every time I had a chocolate one lol. It's been a pretty steady decline since day one. I have had a few 3 week stalls but it started to fall off without changing anything. I have been steady now for a few months but would have lost more if I weren't gained muscle back. I'm happy with 220-230 and am concentrating on strength training. I suspect ill trade some fat for muscle over the next year. I have my eating habits down to second nature, and this working out thing is becoming habit forming as well. I found that losing became expected after a while and stalls would take the wind out of my sail, but the stalls are I now believe a healthily way of our bodies resetting and getting use to the changes, kind of a recouping period.

    Should I be proud or?

I've lost 31lbs in 12 weeks so I'm right there with you. Once I got past my 3 week stall, I have consistently lost 1-3 pounds a week so I've made peace with it. It really bothered me at first but it's not doing me any good to be constantly frustrated. My doctor said they expect me to lose 4-6 pounds a month and I'm exceeding that goal right now.

    3 Week Stall

What is this 3 week stall I've been reading other's posts about? How long does it last? I'm going into week 3 and just wanna know what to expect
  13. I don't know if I had the dreaded 3 week stall. I only weigh myself once a month unless I go to the doctors. The scale makes me crazy and I tend to lose focus. You do need to try and get your Water in or at least increase your water intake. Your body needs it for weight loss. Try adding maybe a ¼ cup to your Protein shakes or pouring them over a cup full of ice. Most importantly step away from the scale a focus on eating right and exercising. One month out your body is still adjusting and healing. Just continue doing the right things and the weight will come off.
  14. If you read a lot on this forum, you will learn about the dreaded 3 week stall. I am one of the fortunate ones that did not experience it, but many here have. I've read that it can last up to 2-3 weeks.

    3 weeks post op

I stalled for a few weeks!! It was frustrating. But it passes. Just keep doing what u are supposed to do. This week 5 pounds just disappeared but in my 3 week stall I lost like 1-2. Lol it's your body adjusting, all normal.

    Holiday Challenge!

    229 this week...damn 3 week stall!!
  17. Hi Everyone, So I'm 3 weeks post op tomorrow and for the past 6 days I haven't shed even half a pound. Before everyone chimes in let me give you the info 1) Yes, I know the 3 week stall is perfectly normal and everyone goes through it. 2) Yes, I know you shouldn't weigh yourself every day and I'm not. I'm talking about a span of 6 days here. 3) Yes, I'm wearing the same thing every time I weigh myself. All that being said, I would like to hear from others about how long your stalls lasted. I thought it would only be 3-4 days but no luck. Am I looking at closer to two weeks or should the scale be moving any day now? I'd like to get an idea so I know when I should start worrying that it may not be the normal 3 weeks stall, but possibly something I'm doing wrong. I'm still struggling to get all my fluids in a day. I get them, but it's a struggle. And I'm getting about 40 g of protien and I can eat about 1/3 of food at a time. Thanks for any input!
  18. I am 5.5 weeks out and have lost 16 lbs since surgery. I too started at a low BMI. But I also lost 10 lbs the two weeks prior on the low carb diet. Of course I would love to be lower but I am over half way to my goal and I know it's going to be slower the closer I get. I am doing cardio and yoga 6 days a week as the doctor hasn't cleared me for weights yet. If you ever want to email or chat since we're so close on dates let me know. I also know that around 3 weeks I only lost 1 lbs that week so I was pretty bummed but I came on here and read about the 3 week stall and it made me feel sooooo much better. Happy Holiday you got this!! LA

how much weight did you lose each month?

I use my fitness pal, and an actual weight tracker app i down loaded. U are supposed to weigh daily with that... Well that got a bit frustrating. Lol I'm 6 weeks out of surgery and had a 3 week stall. I'm down 33 pounds total now.
  20. So what is an average calorie intake for u guys? I am struggling. I have cut out sugars, carbs, and starches. and I am finding it very difficult to hit calorie goals. For the most part I am hitting protein goals. I still struggle with my water intake. I pushed myself to hit 700 calories yesterday. And I was down a pound today. But normal days I'm lucky to hit 500. Since my 3 week stall, I'm only down 2 pounds. Putting my total loss at 31 pounds. (Which I'm very pleased with) I just feel like I'm missing something! I want to do this the right way!

    Diet

Yes I heard of the 3 week stall I've been in the same weight for 2 weeks I just don't want to eat the wrong things or take it to fast I guess I was a bit discouraged because the scale won't go down and I thought maybe it's because of what I'm eating

@@mishelcrz88, I've read a lot on here about the dreaded 3-week stall. That might be what you're experiencing right now, too.

5 months out...tortoise or the hare?

I'm a slow loser too. Right now I am losing about 2 pounds a week. I have only had one stall, and that was the 3 week stall everyone mentions. Pre-gastric sleeve, I had to practically starve myself to lose one pound a week (I lost 70 pounds as a teenager). So the slow loss doesn't surprise me, but it is frustrating because you DO wonder, what if it slows down even more the closer I get to one year out? My nutritionist and the nurse both said that the closer you get to one year, the more likely it is that weight loss will slow down. They were telling me that because I had not lost the amount they believe I should have lost at my two month checkup and they wanted to warn me it may get harder in the future to lose weight. I don't need it to slow down at all - that would be hard to deal with but I would have to learn to deal with it. I've still got 100 pounds to lose. They are wanting me to lose 70 pounds (total, so another 30 pounds for me by February) by my six month mark, which is what I have been striving for. I go to the gym 3-4 times per week (should be 5-6 times a week but life gets in the way) and try to be active outside of the gym. I eat 1000-1100 calories per day. But I can do more - like walking during lunchtime. I am wondering if there are people out there that were slow losers throughout the whole process and still met their goal. I am wondering if people like us will just lose at this rate the entire time or if they slowed down even more as time went on.
  24. @mnmlst I was sleeved on October 28th, 2014 and I have lost a total of 17lbs since surgery. I have hit the dreaded 3 week stall. I have loast any weight since November 9th. I am trying to be happy but I keep feeling like I am going to fail. I wish I knew when this stupid stall was going to be over. Other than that, no complications. I am back at work and working out.
