  1. I just wanted to let anyone out there know if you are even thinking about counseling or therapy DO IT!!! If you have done it and it didnt feel comfortable it's okay try a different counselor or therapist. Don't give up. Its can be like finding the right pair of jeans. You have to find the right brand and size. The counselor/therapist just needs to have the right insight and personality for you. I will happily share my story. I couldn't see my weight loss and I've lost over 10 pant sizes!!! In counseling I have learned I look in the mirror and don't see my physical self. I see my mental self. Now I'm working on my difficulties and learned to look at my physical self. I see my weight loss!!! I feel more positive about everything!!! I have learned a lot about myself and how to cope. I am becoming a more happy, optimistic person. My weight will no longer be my escape route or defense mechanism!!! Again please go to counceling even if you have the slightest feeling or doubt in yourself in this WLS journey. We weren't born with a BMI of 30+. There are reasons and sometimes talking it out is EYE OPENING!!! Remember: You mental health is just as important as you physical health. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Jan 2019 bypass buddies

Hi, I have been looking for the January 2019 group, finally found it. I had my surgery on 1/27/2019. My Highest weight was 253, I think my surgery weight was 248 a week after surgery I was 235. Now, a week later I am still 235 and the scale is not moving. I feeling frustrated about that. How can I be consuming so little and the scale does not move? I've heard about stall's but I was hoping they wouldn't happen to me...j/k

  6. I am 10 weeks out of RNY surgery, I am down 44 pounds. I am taking in about 60 grams of protien a day, and 64oz of water. How many calories is every on at this point? I have been calculating mine and I am always between 500-600 calories. Is this too little? Too much?

    July Sleeve

Hi fellow July sleevers. I haven’t weighed myself in about a month because my scale broke-scheduled for visit for weigh in and check up with surgeon on Monday. Last I checked I was down about 60 pounds. Just had labwork done-b12 high but everything else good. Losing hair in clumps. Haven’t been exercising as much lately because it’s been so cold out (I usually walk around the neighborhood) - but they’re building a new gym near my home that’s only $10 per month so I’ll be joining. Can’t wait. It’s tough sometimes to stick with the diet-tried a Mac Donald’s cheeseburger last week and puked it up. I still have to pace myself and slow my eating down and still can’t tolerate plain water. Going on a trip to Disney in a few weeks so hoping I don’t have any problems with finding the right foods to eat.
  12. Have any revisionists had trouble getting motivation to lose more weight? I am going from lapband to sleeve on 2/20/19 and I feel like even though I have plenty to lose, I’m not feeling like I am going to, or that I am not as motivated to. Maybe it’s a defense mechanism? I am hoping it’s like when a woman has a baby and their “maternal instincts” kick in that I will feel more motivated after surgury to make weight loss a goal rather than just getting my lapband out... any one else struggle with this and if so, did that change after surgery? Thanks ahead of time.
  13. Update! Made it through the cardiovascular, nutrition & chest x-ray appointments today and then right back to work!! Needless to say it’s been a busy, long day! 1 more appointment left for the psychiatrist on 2/6/19 and then to submit to insurance. Omg I so pray this goes through! My out of pocket has already been crazy!

    Gastric sleeve and fibromyalgia

Yes it was a relatively low weight to start with but I am an extremely petite individual, not just in height. My bone structure is small and both my primary doctor and the surgeon felt it was a good option for me. My thighs are the biggest part on me and it was getting hard just to walk and the pain in my legs was keeping me up at night. Not to mention a whole lot of other ailments that many people at much higher weights experience. The doctors and I all knew that I would never lose the weight on my own. I was gaining in excess of 10 lbs a year and had gained 50 pounds from 2015 until 2018. So I decided to try to mitigate the weight gain. I can't tolerate the protein shakes, they make me sick and then I get too full and can't get in any regular food which the doctor would prefer I eat.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Oh psyched - How exciting! Have a fabulous time in the BIG EASY with you and yours... Enjoying a well deserved getaway after surgery! Love the garden district (my background is design + architecture) and like you - there's nothing better than the local flavors and cuisine. Do take a few bites for me. :] Still struggling with the vitamin regime - needing to add to an already ridiculous amount of pills according to nutritionist today iron + zinc/vitamin C tablet? I thought I was covered in 2 multi's per day (never took anything but a levothyroxine pill before) along with B12melt, B-1, Calcium. I really dislike this aspect and am still very confused. What is your vitamin routine? Do they leave you queasy or nauseated? Other than that - savoring our cooler climes given that we are hot 10 months out of the year or more with an increase of severe tropical storms and hurricanes come May. Oh boy.

Who is sick of purees? Some fresh ideas...

Slightly gutted. Your ideas all sound fab on paper and will keep.an eye on the thread, but I'm ruled by texture and whizzed up lunch has me mentally done before I begin. Never say never though! Started purees today (10 days post sleeve) with porridge cos I loved it. Puree 'safe space'. Fine milled porridge with lots milk powder added to 1%. Had idea I was meant to eat until I'm 'full', or for 20 minutes. Whichever is sooner. Though my stomach didn't totally rebel, eating was really unpleasant. Didn't like texture. Stopped when it ticked to more like nausea...10-15 TSP and approx 5g protein in. Huge win that it stayed down and I got that far, but sad the easy end of the puree scale was so tough. Usual 'Am I normal/am I doing it wrong?' questions Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
  23. I stopped my BP pills after surgery and just monitored my BP as my PCP advised. I have had no issues with my blood pressure and it remained stable after surgery. I also use my CPAP religiously and have been using it for over 10 years. I am glad you brought up this topic because it reminded me that I need to make an appointment to get checked out again by a pulmonologist. I had quit smoking 2 years ago and now that I am loosing the weight, I hope that I can get off the machine myself. After so many years of being on CPAP it would definetely feel strange not to have to use it anymore.
  24. Highest weight: 354 Lowest (2nd yr post-op): 188 My senior year of high school, I weighed my heaviest at 354 pounds (17 years old). I was on numerous meds for pre-diabetes, BP, PCOS, and my knees were in bad shape. I tried EVERY diet, meal plan, and exercise routine/programs to try to lose the weight. I was even put on diet pills at the age of 14, which made me feel like I was about to have a heart attack. I was at a yearly doctors appointment when they sent me to the ER because my blood pressure was at stroke level of 200/120 at the age of 17. That’s when she suggested gastric sleeve surgery. I signed me and my mom up for the required first seminar to hear about my options and scheduled my first appointment with the most amazing surgeon I will ever meet. I had my surgery a few months later (July 2015). Being so young, everyone was not really positive about this major surgery. But I did my research extensively and I took every class required, went to every specialist needed, got my PCP on board to ensure I knew what I was doing. This surgery was meant to be. I LOST OVER 150 pounds my 1st year post-op!!!! Then was able to shed off about 10-15 pounds more the following year. Coming into my 4th post-op year (2019), I am now in Pharmacy school pursuing my dreams. I have found my 3rd post-op year the hardest....I moved off to school, and I gained about 30 pounds. I’ve lost 8 pounds since Christmas but I just can’t seem to shed anymore. I never reached my “Goal Weight” but I was within 10 pounds of it. But now I’m back in the 200’s club and I’m at a loss. I just want to be back in “One-derland”. And I’m struggling, I’m stressed which now for me means I can’t eat anything really which obviously hasn’t helped me shed a pound. Any tips or suggestions are welcome!! Being 22, I know I’m young but I still struggle with everything that is tied in with WLS life.
