    Before and After Pics

Yes, girl, whew...brings back memories! Just concentrate on eating the yogurt when you're able to and just drink those Protein shakes continuously...I still do for my protein! What do you take for your reflux? I take Dexilant 60mg and it's great for me and does much better than any other over the counter or prescription that I've ever tried. I'm sure your sleeve will work for you and you'll do great! Just keep doing what the dr says and never stray! ????????

    November 2015 sleevers! :)

I had my surgery November 19th and I seem to be bouncing back very quickly. The only thing I am struggling with is the liquid diet! I almost feel like there is no way I will get through these next 2 weeks until I can eat yogurt and cream soups. Did anyone else struggle with? Need some encouragement please ""

    Before and After Pics

I'm so sorry to hear that. It sounds like a nightmare. Good luck! I sure hope everything works out for the best this time. It's so scary to hear this, I just got sleeved 11/11/15. Having some problems but mine sounds pretty petty and minimal compared to yours . I too have a problem with acid reflux sometimes and had to go to ER Sunday night because I was dehydrated from vomiting after trying to mix the Greek Triple Zero yogurt with my carton of Premier Protein shake. And I mixed it with my little ninja like blender and it has a lot of bubbles afterwards and I think that's what starts it. I feel a rabid dog foaming at the mouth and my throat tries to close up. Second time, so that's it for me , never again. Good luck though, I pray it gets so much better.

    November Sleevers

wonderful story!!! I like the name SAMI.. For soft foods: mash potatoes go well, I actually was able to eat some steamed spinach (small small portion) sweet potato, yogurt (not a fan of cottage cheese).. and egg whites... I am getting about 70-80 grams of protein in which is good and I am up to 50oz of non-protein liquids which I am amazed about.. somedays are better than others even at 11days post-op.. I keep the nausea pills in reach when I try something new just in case... I have not vomited to date, but yes I get the saliva filled mouth (yuck) some morning. but no dry heaving though...thankfully.. Take care

    Weight loss plateau

Thanks everyone for your advice's. This is my longest plateau, I had it a month out from my surgery for 2 weeks and than one week in month 3. My nutritional intake about 700 cal and 80 gr of carbs come from my doctors Office as a guideline as I visited him a month ago. I will definitely try the get away from my daily breakfast of yogurt and change up my meals where I still get my protein as needed but not through yogurt for a while, lets see:) I have been keeping my food pretty much the same since I was able to keep a good track of what I was eating since I still eat at my desk at work due to me not getting any breaks away from work. Thanks everyone for your kind words! Happy thanksgiving to you

    I want solid food!

If you don't like the Protein shakes, try the clear Protein drinks like Isopure no carb or Syntrax nectar. YOU MUST GET IN YOUR PROTEIN. You need protein to heal and to lose. It may also be the reason why you are feeling fatigued. You can get unflavored protein and mix with mashed potatoes. Greek yogurt is packed with protein. Get creative, but do what you have to do to meet your protein and Fluid goals.

    Still Losing

@@JamieLogical Dang, you are right. The move itself is exercise. Extra calories. Set your goals in my fitness pal for intake of more calories. My Dr. had me try a few food to get my calories up. Ensure - 1 *ounce bottle is 220 calories. Its an easy grab when you are so busy. Nuts - 201 calories per ounce Whole wheat past, bread, whole fat milk yogurt butter. and brown rice.

    I want solid food!

Greek yogurt has Protein. You can add Protein powder to pudding. String cheese and deli turkey have protein. So does cottage cheese. You can also add protein powder to Soups and broths. At three weeks out I was eating a lot of Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I was also allowed tuna then. In addition, I continued to drink ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, Protein shakes, and use the ProtiDiet tomato basil and creamy chickens that I was allowed during my liquid phases. With each phase I was able to add foods to what I was already allowed to have so it expanded my options. But, I still ate fairly simply. Just keep trying to do everything you can to get in all of your protein and fluids.
  9. I had sleeve surgery on the 10th. It is 13 days out. I lost 20 lbs in three weeks. Two week liver and 1 week clears post op. I have not lost more than 1 lb since post op appointment and moving to week 2 yogurt, pudding etc. Looking for tips or same stories. What am I doing wrong. Shouldn't it be a consistent 1lb a day loss for 3 months?

    How many grams of carbs

I personally do not count carbs or calories. My doc and NUT says between 64-80 grams of Protein daily is required...and 64 oz minimum of Water. I eat in this order: protein, veggies, fruit/starch. Most of my actual carbs come from fruit. I don't drink juice, if I consume fruit, it is fresh, typically things like some berries tossed in my greek yogurt. I really do not have any room for carbs because by the time I am done eating my of protein, there is very little room for anything else. I take all my Vitamins daily. I do look at the nutrition labels on everything I eat. If it have more than 10 grams of carbs or fat, it doesn't go in my mouth. I'm down 62 lbs in 14 weeks. If I had to count everything, I'd go crazy. i just journal what I eat on Bariastic app.

    Same old issues

While I'm in the weight-loss phase, the only carbs I am having (at the moment) are vegetables and the occasional greek yogurt. 1/3 cup of Protein at each meal plus a couple of bites of vegetables. Maybe in another 3 months it will be different, but right now, I don't have room. What carbs are you eating?
  12. I'm three weeks today and I want solid food. They said I could do string cheese and deli turkey and chicken. I am not drinking my two protien shakes a day because they are making me nauseous I have to drink so much. What do I do? Also I can mashed potatoes and yogurt, Jello pudding, you know the same as the first week or two. But, they don't have protien and I'm worried I'm not doing it right. And I haven't had a bowel movement for like 6 days but I got a really bad hemorrhoid last week so I've been healing. I started my Vitamins sat to help with fatigue. I haven't lost for a few days. What can I do? Just such it up and drink? Am I eating enough? Am I eating too much? WHAT? Ugh...

    Weight loss plateau

I think everyone has. I just came off one that lasted a month. Seems like it's different for everyone. I changed up what I was eating. I was eating too large of a portion of nuts and had dropped off yogurt intake. Changed that and added more protien. You seem good there tho. Hang in there and it will start dropping again

    3 times 10 does not equal 70!

That's the thing Amanda, if it's enough calories for a meal, then it's a meal! Now I'm 3 1/2 months out, I've lost 90 pounds, and my hair isn't falling out. I don't drink Protein shakes. For Breakfast I have either a greek yogurt, a homemade smoothie (frozen blueberries, lactaid milk, greek yogurt, splash of sugar-free vanilla syrup, ice), or one scrambled egg with cheese. For lunch, I have dinner leftovers. For dinner, I have about 1/3 cup of meat. Tonight it was "puffy chicken" (chicken breast baked with a mixture of mayo and parmesan cheese on top). Yesterday it was pork chops, the day before that it was meatloaf. I usually also have about 3 bites of vegetables. After dinner I have a sugar-free popsicle. My labs right now are fabulous, I have energy and I feel great. I have a feeling that may change at some point, and then I plan to add in Protein Shakes.

    Any ideas

I was sleeved on 10/26 and have lived on shakes and drinks. My favorite is crystal light lemonade and strawberry sorbet unjury. Mix in 12 oz of Water and mix I've afterwards for a strawberry lemonade. For a power boost, Greek yogurt, chocolate milk and chocolate sorbet unjury (geez I sound like an unjury salesman by this point). 12 grams for the milk, 14 for the yogurt and 21 for the unjury = 47 grams of Protein just at lunch.
  16. I have discovered this amazing product called ProYo High Protein Frozen Yogurt. I am 3 days post op and have been able to get 40grams of protein in today eating these alone. Great replacement for the shakes if you are stick of them. Check to see if they are available in your area: http://proyofrozenyogurt.com/where-to-buy/

    Non-chewable vitamins

I tried to edit but can't from my Kindle.....My mistake...My calcium is 250mg per pill. I take 3, plus there is calcium in my multi vitamin. I eat yogurt, cheese and drink milk. My labs have been good.
  18. Sleeve was 11/17. I'm in the stage 2. I'm doing cream of wheat, yogurt Greek, protein drinks. Basic everything I can have. Any more ideas I can have? Already sick of the food?

First Name Kesha - Last Name Nervous

So, tomorrow is the big day. No liquid diet for me. I can eat regular all day today. Nothing after midnight. Although I will be saying farewell to regular food for a while, I had no desire to pig out today. I had some pancakes for Breakfast (thanks to the hubby) . . . I had some greek yogurt and I'll be doing some turkey chili tonight for dinner. The heart is racing . . .but I don't think its nervousness. (thanks to you all! ) I think I'm getting excited. Losing this weight will prayerfully grant me some sort of normalcy after battling cancer for so long. I look forward to wearing dresses, shorts in the summertime and working out for more than 10 mins. I also look forward to getting out of bed. Depression had me trapped in my room for most of the year. I'm just so excited. I literally feel tears coming to my eyes.

    Looking for sleeve partner 11/23

@@readyforchange15 - WHERE ARE YOU!!!! It's almost time! What did you eat today? The only restriction is not to eat after midnight. My husband made pancakes this morning. I felt guilty. I've had a gallon on Water, some yogurt . . .and probably some turkey chili for dinner with a light salad. My heart is racing. The support here is amazing . . .so I don't think I'm nervous anymore . . .just anxious with a tad bit of excitement.

    5 day pouch test

It's fundamentally a fad diet variant that gets you back to very low calories and carbs for a few days, which some find helps them reset their cravings if they have gone overboard on junk food. Any diet that significantly cuts back the junk does the same thing. It has nothing to do with testing a pouch as we don't have one, and running liquids or yogurt through one (for those who do, as in bypass or band patients) doesn't test anything, either.
  22. Bandista

    Is my band too tight?

Figuring out what my sliders are was important for me. It's the chewing and swallowing that trigger the signal for satiety. I add mix-ins to my yogurt for this reason (chia seeds, a few nuts, a little gluten-free Cereal, etc.) -- otherwise it would just go right down. cheese is also a slider for me unless I have it with something that I can really chew. I'll have a few apple slices or GF crackers sometimes or a rice cake, etc. with the cheese. I could never do pizza, though it sounds like that may be a slider food for you. We are all different. And yes, chicken seems to be a problem for many. I cook thighs over a long period of time or pound tenders to tenderize them thoroughly and I use a lot of stock to cook chicken down. I never order it in a restaurant but usually choose a filet mignon or tenderloin instead (I'm worth it!) or fish, etc. Good luck to you as you get your groove -- great way of putting that B-52. It definitely is a lifestyle thing. Find yourself a doctor to work with -- that's really important. Best wishes!

    Purée stage

Dub. My surgery is tomorrow and my post op is just like my 2 wk pre op protein shakes, SF jello, Popsicles, broth, light no chunk yogurts. I agree this will give your new pouch time to heal while maintaining your protein.
  24. I stayed on Protein shakes for the first 3 weeks. After that my surgeon moved me over to Greek yogurt, eggs, baked fish, soft baked/stewed chicken, cottage cheese and etc. Even though my calorie intake was about the same as before....my weight loss paused for two full weeks. Drove me nuts......then it started moving again. I'm really not scared of anything that comes across the Thanksgiving table this week, Week 6. Turkey, ham, deviled eggs. It is my sincere hope to score a few oysters before Mom puts them in the dressing for everyone else. I'll hit them with some Ed's Red Hot Sauce and down the hatch.

    Purée stage

I really didn't do the puree stage..... Protein shakes for 3 weeks post op and then my surgeon put me on soft foods like soft baked salmon, flounder, tuna and stewed chicken, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt and etc. Chewed very, very carefully of course. I'm glad it was like this. Much of the stuff that I see commonly eaten during the puree stage don't really support high protein and weight loss.
