    how big is your band?

Usually the doctor decides when he goes in and finds out the size of your stomach. My doctor thought because of my weight he would use a 14 cc band, however once he got in the 10 cc band was a better fit. Kathy

  4. Mist of us were disappointed at our 1 month weight loss. For me, I lost 20lbs and was very upset. We have unrealistic expectations and everyone is different. Som else more and some others less.mi am almost 10 months out now and 112lbs down. Be happy with the numbers going lower whether fast or slow. Stick to the program and follow instructions from you nut and surgeon and you'll lose weight. Good luck to you all.

    Low Carb Yogurt

I am ready to try yogurts again. I know Greek yogurt is the best option but I can't find any that are low carb enough. My favorite brand is Cabot and chobani but they seem to have too much sugar... Like 10-30 grams. What is everyone using? Thanks
  6. I definitely do have 6 cc's in my 10 cc band, was done on surgery day. This practice of surgeons starting doing this during surgery this past summer. I found out the exact amount when I spoke to the nutritionist about 10+ days ago.

    Mommies getting sleeved

My boys are 10 and 4, they need a mommy that’s healthy, happy, active, and feels good about herself. It was an adjustment at first, with me being so tired, but they soon fell right in line being my helpers, they help prepare meals, shop, plan, etc. They love us happy ❤️

    Mommies getting sleeved

I had surgery 10/19/18 with a 1.5 year old and a 3 year old. The first few days they were away at my moms house and then they came home and my husband had 2 days off work. Tomorrow will be 6 days post op and I feel confident I can take care of them by myself tomorrow. My house looks like a disaster because I haven’t had time/energy to clean up but everyone is safe/healthy/and feed.

    Post op gas

My surgery was 12/10, a good friend of mine who is a L&D nurse suggested tiny amounts of warm decaf tea. Also laying flat and trying to roll side to side. The rolling wasn't an option for me with my abdomen being so sore. However, the warm tea really did seem to help. I also had my husband pat my shoulder & more was released.
  10. I think I would call the surgeon. I didn't sleep much the day (night) that I spent in the hospital. But did sleep almost the entire first day home. However, the next day I went to an Easter party on a small family ranch and hung out all day and walked around a lot of the time. I do get a solid 8-10 hours of sleep each night but wake up rested and ready to go. I know that "normal" after this surgery is different for everyone but still worth checking out. 11. I have only lost 18.5 pounds since November. Today made 4 months since my surgery. I too was feeling pretty bad about it. But we have got to stop thinking that we will lose 10 pounds a week with the band. If you have lost 31 pounds in 3 months, that is an average of nearly 3 pounds per week. That is FANTASTIC. Think of it in terms of what it means over the next year...next 2 years. Read my post earlier this week about getting ourselves "in check". You need to make sure your expectations are realistic. How much did you think you would lose the first 2 months. You have made tremendous progress....you need to be proud and not ashamed. You made a decision to get healthy. Stick with it. Why give up now? Because you only lost 31 pounds? Say that out loud... :scared2: Did you ever think you'd lose 30 pounds in a few months? Stay on the horse. Trust me...I know it's hard without restriction. I gained 6 pounds at my 2nd visit and 1.5 pounds at my 4th (most recent). I now have 5.2 cc's in my band (4th fill) and I finally feel like I'm eating the amount I should be--usually less than a cup at each meal. And I have just started eating "WHAT" I was supposed to. The restriction helps with that. Talk to your surgeon. Print out your post and take it with you. Give it time. Don't let fear of what others think hold you back. We have all done that for too long. Keep us posted.

  14. Ok i have a cold I'm trying to get rid of fast and I have to lose 10 pounds before Feb 14 to have surgery any suggestions. I can't do full liquid diet because it would throw my thyroid number off. Sent from my LG-H901 using the BariatricPal App

    Help

I agree with what's already been said. 10 pounds is great! Congrats!! If it makes you feel any better - my gas pain didn't start until about 10 days post surgery. I couldn't believe it! Arm windmills and walking (pacing in my case) helped me.

Sip a little, Walk a little!

Glad your doing better. i bet that band is a 10 cm band but I 'm not possitive on that either. Hope you continue to improve. Sounds like you have a great family with lots of support!
  18. Banded 5/9. Today is 5/10. My stitches are starting to itch. Yesterday, I removed my wrist band. I forgot to remove it when I got to the car. I didn't think I was allergic to anything, but my whole hand above where the band was is all red and itchy. I've been using cortisone but still red. Belly is still hurting. Yea! For drugs.

Getting off of Blood Pressure meds

Unfortunately you may just have high blood pressure. Sometimes our weight has nothing to do with it. My grandmother was very small and not overweight and she had HBP. So did my aunt and she wasn't overweight. Same goes for both grandpa's and my dad. Just my lot in life to have HBP. I lost 100 lbs about 10 years ago and my blood pressure didn't budge. Sometimes that's just how our bodies roll. For those who are on high blood pressure medications please don't self medicate. If you take something like Metoporol and come off of it suddenly, you can cause a great deal of damage to your body. This is our heart we're dealing with. The doctor knows best. I've had extremely high blood pressure since I was 15 years old (220/120 unmedicated - that's stroke level folks) and I know our blood pressure is something that should be closely monitored. My hope is to one day be off of my meds, but due to my family history, sigh, I may never get off of them. That's okay though. Getting the extra weight off my body is good for me in other ways. We all have a cross to carry, right?
  20. I still can't eat very much food. A kid's meals can make two meals for me. Sometimes I have a chicken leg and a small serving of mashed potatoes and I can't finish it. It has been 14 months since my Band and I have lost 116 pounds. Have about 50 more to go. Sometimes I think my Band is too full, since I do PB at least 2-3 times a week. I try to eat soft foods for lunch since it is very difficult for me to eat anything in 30 min. At dinner it sometimes takes me 2-3 hours to complete my very small portion of food. However, I am usually never hungry. I do not know how much Fluid is in my Band since my Dr. does not disclose that information. He says everyone is different, so he does not want his patients comparing that info in the waiting room. With that being said I would not change a thing. I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat. I read 5 books on the subject before my surgery and followed every rule there was. I did not want to take a chance of being one of the statistics that do not succeed. I am so glad I did. As some else said, it is a very short time. I can not believe it is over 14 months for me. Life just keeps happening and one day turns into a week then a month then a year. Before you know it, you will wonder what the fuss was all about. For me I need a Knee Replacement, however my Dr. thinks I can wait 10 years. My pain was at a Level 10 before my Lap-Band and now it is a 2 on most days with the worse being a 5. I am so thankful for the surgery, I have gotten my life back.

    3o and thinking...

Hi Lilbit, I am 38 and just was banded on 10/13/08. I was scheduled for RNY on 8/4 and changed my mind on 7/31. I just could not do it. Too many complications. Not sure if this makes sense or not but I could never see myself after that surgery. It just never felt right to me. I happen to read a story from a lady who had RNY like 15 years ago and regreated every moment of it. The comment that just clicked and brought it all home for me was " I did this to be healthy but I didn't realize I was healthy just fat". My niece had RNY on 7/16 and has lost 104 lbs to date. She looks horrible. Her hair is falling out in clumps, she is pale as a ghost. She can not eat any meat at all. She is only 31. I worry about her every day.
  22. Hello All.. I had my visit today and my band date is 3/10/09 looking forward to joining the ranks of all of you that are now smaller than you were before..

    How many fills?

As said, it's very individual. The real question here if your getting hungry that soon, is how much protein is in your meals. My surgeon tells me if I get hungry in less than 4 hours double the protein in the next meal. I'm never able to eat the whole doubled portion. If I do this and still get hungry in less than 4 hours, it's prolly time for a fill. Also, make sure it's not head hunger. When you think you are hungry, drink 8 or 10 oz of water and wait 30 -45 minutes and try to get your mind off food. If you are still hungry, you prolly do need a fill. What everyone else has in their band isn't relevant here.

    Hummus spread????

I've never had hummus, but our local Publix in the deli section has like 10 different good-looking 'flavors'. I thought about buying one, but I wasn't sure what hummus was, didn't want it to end up being fish eggs or something.
