  3. So I'm 3 weeks post op and I think I'm experiencing bandster hell. About an hour after I eat I'm hungry again. Like hungry hungry. I've been trying to make sure that I'm eating enough protein but it still doesn't keep me satisfied. I go in for my first fill on Friday. I'm just wondering if this is what bandster hell is. And could this be why my weight loss has slowed down the last few days?
  4. hello I really identify with your situation I started my journey a year ago yeah last September! well my weight stayed at 210-220 so after being denied 4 times even having my appeal denied! so I said you know what ihave to do what I have to do to get my surgery.I went against my rules and better judgment gained weight maintained it till I was finally aporoved. im 5'5 so my weight needed to be 240 so I got up to about 235 felt miserable. Strapped on a 5 pound weight ate a healthy meal put my keys and phone in my pocket wore layers. lol iknow it sounds crazy but I was finally approved in July.

Year out. DON'T want to eat. CAN'T eat.

The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight. Weight loss is achieved after surgery through volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein shakes. I lost my hunger after surgery and it was not difficult to lose weight when you are not hungry. But the hunger returned about a year later but by that time I had lost a significant amount of weight. @ said I am a year out from my RNY. I was non compliant all that time. I did not gain any weight but I also did not lose. I have NO appetite. This is rather strange and it seems to me that something is wrong unrelated to your surgery. After I gained my appetite back, I had an experience of getting a stomach flu that lasted for a week. During that week, I was not hungry and ate very little and lost weight quickly. So if you continue to want to lose weight; restrict the volume of your meals, and make sure that you are meeting your daily protein, fluid and vitamin requirements. Also try to get in around 30 minutes of walking exercise per day [or equivalent].
  6. Hello everyone, My name is Joyce. I was banded November 15, 2007. I live on the east coast. I completing my fourth week and I have lost 10 lbs. I have maintained the weight since I lost. I have not had a fill as of yet. I will see the surgeon the first week of January 2008. I am thinking I will probably need a fill. My weight fluctuates everyday. It seems I am losing then I gain it right back. I initially exercised, but my incisions are bothering me. I am getting sharp pains and a pulling sensation when I am standing and walking. My stomach is drooping a little, maybe that is the reason for the pulling?? Anyway, I am getting my Protein requirements in everyday and I am keeping good records of my diet. Oh, well. I do feel a lot better and my friends are complimenting me on my initial weight loss, especially those who didn't know I had surgery. I just want to get the ball rolling though. I am new to this site and look forward to everyone's comments.
  7. Do you write down everything you eat, maybe it is effecting you a day or so later, lactose intolerent, a new allergy to a food, etc. Someone on here said they used a draft to show their weight loss, so now they recognise by a pattern, when they go into a stall. With that being said, if you notice every couple of weeks a different type of pattern, what is happening to you, maybe if you track everything you consume maybe then you might be able to narrow down what is happening. If you do track everything already then go back and look and see what might stand out. Be prapared and take that info to your Dr.

    Stalls

Hello! I'm 2 months out and I'm experiencing the same thing! I was bypassed 04/04/2019 and since then i've lost lots of weight but the pounds seem to drop all at once for a week or even less and then stall for two or three weeks, then drop a bunch in a week and then stall again for 2-3 weeks. I feel like all the weight i've dropped was in like 2 weeks total and the rest of the 2 months was just stalls. I think it's normal though, as long as we're losing weight in the end. I feel you, though, it's very frustrating. I'm 21 so yeah it may be our age too. Good luck!

    Telling co-workers!

I was excited to tell my coworkers. I work in a doctors office. I have work there for 12 years. They have been my biggest supporters through my weight loss journey. I haven't had my surgery yet, but they have always been here for me. So tell your coworkers you might be surprised how supportive they might be.

  13. I am 2 1/2 years post op and I was at my goal of 170 one year ago. In the past year I have gained 30 lbs. - my mom was diagnosed with cancer then broke her hip. She's home with hospice and it's a day to day struggle. Every free moment I have I spend with her. I have been struggling with anemia and have a hard time exercising due to getting short of breath. I am just beside myself and I know people who have lost 20-30 pounds with this and I'm thinking this might help with my late night stress cravings.

    Qsymia

I too was at 170 a few months ago but I got really sick and had acute kidney failure so I have been taking it easy. I also have been having issues with my lapband and with depression so I have gained 30 pounds in a few months ☹️. I really want to try Qsymia but I am on Medicaid so I doubt they will cover it and I bet it is expensive.

  16. So many have had questions about gaining or losing during the "healing" period after surgery (for purposes of this, let us say it is about six weeks). Some gain during the soft food period and after. This is so normal, according to my doctor. It is a time of healing and many of us, after the swelling, experience a return to the same ability to eat as post-surgery - until we start to get fills. What was TRUE FOR YOU? Post is here and VOTE! IT'S MULTIPLE CHOICE - CHOOSE ALL THAT APPLY
  17. This is such a personal journey including your decision to tell people. There are some people I have shared with, people that I trust. There are others that are noticing that I am losing weight but I just tell them I am increasing my exercise and time at the gym while watching my portion sizes....its true without telling them I went through with this procedure. I am not ashamed about it, I think it is the best thing I could have done for myself. I just know how they are and what they would say. I am making myself healthier and no matter what path I took, it is MY path. Gracierose...I really felt pretty good within a week but because of lifting precautions, had to take 2 weeks off. Going back to work was kind of like coming back from vacation...you know how when you start off really slow and then pick up. I just wouldn't plan to do much after work when you get back. Do you have enough vacation time or sick time to take 3 weeks off just to be sure you are ready to go back??? Katie

    I'm going on a DIET

Ok no one hit me, I have been eating to the point of PB, like my band has made me a freakin bulemic. I have continue to lose weight though, slower than usual but about 2 pounds a week with no exercise. So I know that is not a plan and I will no longer do this since I just read what I typed and figure I would yell at anyone else on hear that said it. I will blame it on the stress of the holidays and finals at school while working a 50 hour week at work too. Diets suck, sorry I can't help!

    I'm going on a DIET

Low carb diets will work but you have to make it a life time commitment because once you go back to eating carbs you will gain FAST!! How about the Mediterranean Diet? Its loaded with veggies and its a very healthy way of eating. My friend lost 87 lbs on it and she's got 10 more to go. She looks amazing. Your even allowed wine. http://www.mediterraneandiet.gr/index.html Personally I've never done good with WW, Nutrasystem or any of those diets but this way of eating is very healthy and you get to eat alot of veggies. Just set a calories level and follow the guidelines. No diet is easy thats for sure, guess thats why they don't like to call this a diet. Its a way of life.
  20. I was told the expensive CPAP machine was OPTIONAL for surgery, and OPTIONAL for daily use. During surgery, the anesthesiologist will just "make some adjustments" which eliminates the need for the machine. And of course after surgery once you've dropped weight, your sleep apnea will probably vanish. Are you sleeping fine without it? If so, call your surgeon and see if your answer is the same as mine. Which will save you some cash.
  21. So, I've been at the same scale weight for nearly a month and this morning, I lost 3.2 pounds! YAY!!! I keep preaching it..don't let the scale run your life. I have lost 3 pants sizes this month, plus seen new definition in my arms, legs and waist, but that 3 pounds makes me happy, too! Happy dancing this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Damn Easter Candy

I feel guilty when ever I eat any kind of carbs due to the fear of gaining weight. Now that Easter Candy is just plain evil! LOL I was pretty good, I love the Cadbury mini chocolate eggs with the hard shell. So when I gave in and decided I'd buy some, K Mart didn't carry them! Thank Goodness, I didn't have any and I lost a couple of ozs of weight! Now this is reinforcing. I did eat somewhat unhealthy through out the weekend, so I could of lost some more weight. Hummmmm, time to up the exercise and eating proteins, veggies, and drinking alot of water with my vitamin supplements.
