I'm not sure if this is a true NSV, but I was pretty excited  I was at the gym yesterday (I go to a ladies only gym) and one of the employees/trainers approached me. The gym does a "wall of success" every year where they post before/after pictures and stories of people for motivation and inspiration. They take professional "after" pictures and the pictures and stories are posted up for a year. They asked me to be part of the wall for next year. ME - FORMALLY SUPER OBESE ME BEING ON THE SUCCESS WALL OF A GYM :tt2:. I didn't know how to respond - I was so blown away. Anyways - I said I had to think about it. I think I will say yes - even just for the irony of having my picture up in a gym as being a good thing (not in the "this could happen to you if you don't get control of yourself" cautionary tale kind of way) :biggrin2:. I just had to share this. Thanks for reading!!!
  8. WHOO HOOO! I love this NSV one of my favorites

Maintenance? I guess I need to work on that.

Well I have been having ups and downs. I am almost 9 months out. I have stopped weighing myself all the time and decided to try to maintain my weight loss. It has been hard and I haven't been doing a very good job. I have decided to try to shock myself back in a low carb high protein mode this week. Just because I need to get the cravings out of my system. I am still hitting the gym. Because of a couple of things that came up unexpectedly and out of town meetings I actually had only 2 days working out this week. That is the least I have worked out since about November. I guess I'll have to watch that. I did go shopping and was able to fit my big fat butt into a size 10 skirt!!!! I couldn't believe it! I don't ever remember wearing a size 10! I also bought my first little black dress. It is a size 14 (the girls are always bigger) I have just recently gotten out of plus size shirts) It is Calvin Klein and it looks AWESOME! Now I just need a place to wear it! So I am still having some NSV, but I have to admit that I am feeling very fat again. Part of it is what I am eating. If I was eating right all the time I wouldn't feel like look so fat. I'll have to work on that. I know that I have gotten used to seeing myself like this so that is part of why I am starting to not see a skinny me in the mirror anymore. That will change when I start loosing again. I am still looking forward to visiting my family and surprising them with my 100+ weight loss. I leave a week from Thursday. I have been tanning and worrying about what to wear and what they will say. I will look forward to coming home and getting back on the weight loss wagon. I am starting to think that weight loss will be much MUCH easier than maintenance....I guess I'll have to work on that. Much love to all! Im not real comfortable wearing my clothes this "fitted" - and the skort was shorter then I like. Not sure if Ill ever get used to this new dress attire! LOVED the cost of it though!!!!

    November/Christmas Goal

No nibblin'? That is awesome Roxanne....GREAT NSV....well done!!! Yeah, Xmas parties.....ours is next week (potluck); I'm bringing Nanaimo Bars....I think I"ll be okay....as I'm too paranoid that something bad will happen if I'm "bad" in public!! Aaaaaah, the shame of fear! Works everytime! I think it might be "tougher" and a little more obvious (that I'm avoiding stuff) when I go to the "at home" thing though (you know what I'm referring to, Roxanne!)....so wish me luck! That is next week as well.

    Happiness Is.......

That was a big NSV for me too. I went on Vacation in August 5 months after my surgery and I went to a hotel and used a towel and it wrapped around me like a normal person. And I got calf high boots with no need to worry about getting extra wide calf and in fact they are too loose on top. Super happy for you I know how it feels to have things like this be big events for you!

    Happiness Is.......

Great NSV! Congrats! What made me happy today??? Well, my A/C was broken (not happy), but I didn't sweat at all (happy!). Before I would've been found fanning myself in a puddle of sweat shoveling ice cream into my mouth.
  14. That my hair would get thinner. That somedays I would be starving and other days not want to eat at all. That I wood still have to drink Protein shakes daily to get my needed amount. That I would be cold when others are sweating. That I would feel SO much better after only minimal loss. That I would wish I had done this years ago. That nsv's can be better than the scale moving down. That my family would be so supportive. That my friends and co workers would be so supportive. That I would inspire others to have this procedure too. There are positives and negativesto everything I. Life, so for now I am trying to focus on the positives.
  15. Well during thanksgiving i had my mom come to San Antonio (she is from Canada) for 1 week. I went to pick her up at the airport. I haven't seen my mom for 3 years. She knew I had the sleeve done, but didn't believe me that it would work. . .sooooooooooo when she got to the airport, she walked right past me. . . I grabbed the coffee i had for her and went galloping after her. . .MOM I yell, well she turns around and after hugs she says "Is this really you?" Really? Please don't lose anymore weight and what happened to your hair? You used to have such thick beautiful hair". . . .well I just brushed the comments away and told her I was so happy to see her. . . that was that . . . the visit went well though and I didn't have thoughts of sending her back via FEDEX this time!

That's fantastic! You look wonderful. It is a great nsv to feel comfortable in your body and not to worry about how it will limit you. Congratulations! Clothes are a challenge, but I find that I actually enjoy shopping now. That's a first!

oh, i almost forgot, an nsv, before the whole ugly reeses thing! this morning i was clean out the shoe closet and started trying on all my summer shoes and sandals, deciding which to throw out. Hadda Nsv

Good for you, especialy while out! That had to put a smile on your face or a tear in your eye. I had the same kind nsv when we got a t-shirt in at work and they gave it to me. I thought I would give it to my son. When I got home I opened it and tried it on and it fit and was also a large. I cried.

Congratulations!! I think that recognizing that smaller clothes fit is a second NSV. Keep up the good work. Celeste
  24. I was freaking out from the day before my surgery date, but lucky for me I was too embarrassed to show it. The morning of the Big Day, I arrived at the hospital with my best friend and got checked in. As we waited for the nurse to come and take me back, I so wanted to turn to my friend and say that I'd changed my mind and we should go home, but embarrassment kicked in again. How was I going to explain running out the door and blowing off the surgery when I'd spoken of nothing else for the last three months but getting that sleeve? So I stayed and I did it, and I'm so glad. Aside from a respectable beginning weight loss (I still have a long way to go), there have been many NSVs. It has already proven to be not only worth it, but one of the best and smartest things I've ever done. I'm glad you're rescheduling. Be brave and go for it!

    A....private NSV :)

Today in the shower I noticed I was able to shave certain areas with a lot more ease I didn't even realize it until I was halfway done - that I wasn't struggling to reach places. My husband will be thrilled
