If it's not too late plz add me 164.6, GW 155. I've been apart of several of your challenges and ty. Unfortunately tho, I'll have revision to gbp surgery on Dec 4 Lord willing, due to continuous problems associated with my sleeve since day one Dec 30, 2013. They decided last month to revise. Started 2 week liquids today, still challenging as b4, but mostly head stuff bc i really don't get hungry. I pray that all goes better and I'll have updates on loss. Gl all and thx either way if I'm able to join you.

My doctor won't discuss revision until I actually give my band a real chance

Anyone that has had surgery within a week?
phatfatgirl replied to Glogyal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all! Had surgery 11/16. Revision from band to bypass. Was very nauseous in the hospital the first 3 days. Went home on the end of the 3rd day. Currently I'm doing the broth, popsicles *by the way i dumped on a sugar free popsicle!* water and decaf tea. I can not stomach protein drinks. Can't wait till I'm on to mushy on Tuesday so i can get my protein that way. Anyone suffering from acid reflux? Yet I'm taking omneprazole! What about every time i take a sip of water i need to belch. I think I'm too tight. ???? hopefully it's just still swelling though. -
Dec 30, 2013 was the day i thought my weightloss journey would change my life for the better. As soon as i awoke, my life was changed, i was in excruciating pain in my chest that they thought i was having a heart attack. I ended up staying for 1 week n a day. It would've been longer but i was scared of getting a feeding tube do i forced myself to drink. To make a long long story short, I'd end up having an egd monthly, upper gi 3 times, sent to specialists to figure out what happened to me. I've been on so many meds, throwing up most nights anything that I'd eaten that day to present, acid reflux an understatement ! Ph tests, swallow test, had 3 different surgeons see me. Finally, lots of continuous praying, i was sent to the surgeon that was suppose to do the surgery initially. After 3 months of her investigating, she decided that i need a revision. So here i am, starting all over again with the stages, minus 85% of my stomach. To this day, i can still only drink about 32 ounces of liquiq per day, forcing that. It hurts to drink, eat, swallow my own saliva, i hate to think of eating or drinking. I lost 83 lbs, put back 10 bc i started eating rice, although it hurt, it was less painful and simple to cook wo wasting it bc i can't eat it! I gave up on exercising and even caring. I told my doc that as well. She's very kind and hard knocks at the same time. There will be 2 surgeons, i am scared, she said id need a drain, i might be cut instead of scoped bc of possible scar tissue from vsg, and a higher chance of leaking. Wow, seems like i can't catch a break. Please pray if you don't mind. I just moved up and fixed thanksgiving so that i could try and eat with my family. Dec 4th, im discouraged but trying to be hopeful. God willing, this will make things the way they should have been b4, if not better! God bless you all and gl. Thank you for reading my story. I hope to have good news postop!

Big NSV that has created a dilemma for me.......
CowgirlJane replied to Joz31's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congratulations! Great success story. Just say no. There are plenty of others who are comfortable with"going public" they can use as success stories. I had alot of shame around my lapband but by the time I revised to the sleeve..I was like "who am I kidding" - not like my 300# was invisible. I am over it and don't care what people think, but I respect that not everyone is in the same headspace. -

Considering a re-sleeve in the new year
CowgirlJane replied to Shells_Almost_There's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I am going to ask for the "talk" on this topic at my surgeon's office. I follow their patient support Facebook page and the only sleeve to bypass revision talk I see is people with out of control reflux, a known risk of the sleeve. -
Considering a re-sleeve in the new year
CowgirlJane replied to Shells_Almost_There's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I have a slightly different perspective. I think people with a lot of weight to lose face a somewhat different challenge because it takes so long to get to goal. Getting to goal, skin removal, cute clothes, a fit body gave me lots of motivation to stay focused the last few years. If I were still over 200# I am not sure I would maintain as well as I have.. I have been both a failure and a success. I feel that sense of..it could have been me writing this post but instead I managed to get to a normal size and weight...and by hook and by crook...maintaining. I have not investigated resleeving but I would ask hard hard questions about success rates and risks. I am suspicious. I would also seriously investigate the DS, the new mini DS. Revisions of any kind has higher complications risk and statistically poorer results. My revision from band to sleeve was the best decision EVER, but it doesn't work out that way for everyone. My #1 advice is don't let shame keep you from seeking help and support, so kudos to you for making this post! -
It's finally here...SURGERY DAY today!
ProudGrammy replied to Fatty McFatster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Fatty McFatster sorry you had problems with your band in my "biased" opinion - the sleeve is the greatest!!! having revision surgery shows your determination you are brave enough to go through MORE surgery you want to get it right/successful with weight loss you are starting all over most of the rules with lapband are same/similar to sleeve??? you are a winner, but i'll save you a seat on the "loosers" bench!!! good luck speedy recovery kathy -
Considering a re-sleeve in the new year

@@Shells_Almost_There I forget the website, but in 2014 there were 195,000 bariatric procedures in the United States. 100,000 were Sleeves, 50,000 were Bypass, the remainder was a mix of bands, DS, Mini BP etc. So yes, if things go south for the Sleeve long term, that is a LOT of revisions that will need to be done! -

My time has finally come. I'm packed and ready to leave for the hospital in a few hours to have my band to sleeve revision surgery later today. I'm excited, but also quite nervous (which I'm sure is normal). If you would, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks everyone!! -
Had first doctor visit today to discuss band to sleeve revision. I was nervous and my red face certainly showed it! To my surprise, he said he would do EGD on Monday morning and scheduled surgery for the 16th of December (I am self pay). Yikes! No liquid diet either, just low fat. I can handle that! This is getting real, FAST!

Hello! I am new to the forums. I will be sharing my story in a different forum later tonight. Right now I have a question for anyone who may have had a revision done to your gastric bypass. I followed Aetna's requirements: 90 Days with surgeon (weight management) Visit with nutritionist Visit with mental health provider Visit with a local exercise facility (3 visits prior to submissions) Chest x-rays, blood work, sleep study, and a few other items (cant think) write a personal letter My surgeon's office was I believe submitting either last Friday or Monday. I successfully lost 6lbs during the 90 days (mostly Water weight). I was curious who got denied, or who got approved and how long did it take. Thank you! ~ Cookie -

Hi there - I'm right behind you, having my band revised to bypass on 12/7, can't wait. I currently have constant, annoying pain in my port area and the dreaded GERD has returned (have had the band for 8 years). Please keep us posted on your surgery and your progress, I will be excited to hear how you did. Try not to worry - I'm sure it will go smoothly and you will be up and around in no time with your baby! Best of luck, Kelly -
Congrats and good luck! 29 days post revision op. 54 years old 21 pounds down

Questions for Alcohol Drinkers ONLY!
sleevednanny replied to Cape Crooner's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok, I myself am two weeks from being sleeved, so this is secondhand knowledge. One of the gals in my support group is 4 weeks out and she was just telling us how she drinks 1 beer at bowling and a glass of wine after work on occasion. My first instinct was, is she nuts? However, she is a well educated, successful woman who has had great success with her sleeve, so who am I to judge? My doctor and physiologist said they recommend waiting a year to reintroduce alcohol, simply because they want you to reach goal and too many times, we waste calories on drinks. Also, you metabolize alcohol differently after surgery. I am a revision so I do know this from having the lap band. I would be drinking a glass of wine, it went down fine, so I had another and BAM!!! I was hammered, and throwing up... Not good!! I will probably get backlash, and I am NO expert, but I think if you can handle it, use in moderation, and are getting your water and protein first, then have a drink:) cheers???? -
