I am sorry you're having a hard time. The first week was hard. Nothing appealed. I just started losing my tastes for things last week. If you have a whole foods near you they sell different sample sizes you could try to see which you like. Vitamin shoppe also has a couple but not many near me. Take it slow. Stay with jellos, yogurts, Soups and next week should be better Good luck.

full liquids, shakes, yogurts, sf pudding for me anyway. You really should get some info from your doctor.

Since October I have been up and down within a 10 pound range. After getting completely unfilled in October because of a 14-hour vomiting episode, I made it back up to 4 cc's without feeling really restricted. Over the holidays I stopped tracking on myfitnesspal.com and also stopped losing weight. Last week I got filled to 5 cc's and now even yogurt hurts to eat. At first I thought that I could put up with this for a month until my next visit and in the process would finally lose the weight I did not in the last several months, but this is too hard. Today my diet consisted of a glass of juice, two yogurts (eaten very slowly), and some very soft over-cooked brocolli that I could not finish. I came very close to vomiting up the brocolli. I am considering calling the doctor tomorrow and asking to get a half cc removed. In the last week I have been losing more than a pound a day, which is great, but sometimes my blood sugar drops way low and sometimes I am in pain for hours after attempting to eat something as simple as Soup.

Yum! It tastes fantastic! I have tried the raspberry, peach and strawberry banana so far. I can't stand any of the greek yogurts as they all taste too sour. This feels like a desert to me instead of yet another source of Protein. Thanks to whoever I saw mention it earlier in the week. _/\_ 6 ounces 60 calories 1.5g fat 3g sugar 8g protein

I have been eating yogurt, tea and taking my Vitamins. banana and one day I had a mango smoothie for lunch. I also have sugar free Jello. I cheated last night with a pretzel and lemonade. and I cheated today with almond crusted Tilapia and mashed potatoes and green Beans. this is day two for me. So tomorrow I will start fresh with a Protein Drink in the morining stick with the apple sauce and the yogurts. I have to say. I haven't had any soda or cakes and pies. So that must be a plus. So I guess my question is stick to my Protein drinks and no lean meats or starches at all?

I would suggest eating high protein/ low carb things right before bed. Greek yogurt usually was good at tiding me over at night. Or string cheese. These foods help me level out my blood sugars when I stay up late during the weekends.

4 days post op and I'm so hungry!
Lexi_c replied to RedHookRaven's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also I tolerate premier shakes, sugar free pudding and zero sugar okios yogurt. I really want to try scrambled egg whites. -
I keep a whole grocery store at work. I've got canned goods, honey, teas, raw walnuts, vitamins, soups, pickles, olive oil, vinegar, mustard. Everyone knows the left crisper drawer in the fridge belongs to me. It's filled with fresh veggies (cleaned at home) and cartons of yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese, baggies of leftover protein. I've always got at least a week's worth of lunch and breakfast items. I often feed my skinny attorney when he's too busy to stop and eat. I swear, it's the ONLY way I've remained sucessful. The one day I didn't have food was the day I slipped and ended up eating Taco Time.

Ground turkey breast, turkey breast cutlets, chicken tenders, eggs, cottage cheese, tripple zero greek yogurt (orange cream), Fairlife low fat milk, Starkist tuna pouches, mozarella string cheese.

Yes, starting today. I can have protein shakes x4, yogurt, raw veggies, 3 oz chix, fish or egg white and oatmeal. What about you?

I'm on day 9 of the liquid pre op. Everyday is a little easier than the day before. I can't have any solid food at all.....no yogurt or cream of wheat for me. I am just so sick of the shakes!!! I will be so glad when this is over! I think after surgery it will be way easier being on the liquids. Of course I could be wrong.

I am 17 days post op and I know that I have just began my journey. To be blunt, this journey is starting to suck! I still am in pain from surgery and I can't get comfortable to sleep. I couldn't wait to start the pureed phase. I now seem to hate all food. Nothing sounds good. I can't stand cottage cheese, refried Beans, greek yogurt or eggs. I obviously wasn't that picky before the surgery or I wouldn't be in this situation. Every meal and sip of Water is a battle. I really don't have a question or a point to make. I just needed to vent to people who understand what I am going thru. Thanks for letting me rant.

i actually had my last appt with my surgent this morning before Surjuy. I told her I cheated and had some fish. She said that was fine. As long as I was I eating snicker bars and chip Cookies things of that sort She said the liquid diet is important because they want to shrink your liver. while they doing the surjury they actually lift your liver up to get to your stomach. In the process they do not want your liver to crack and cause you to bleed out. Then you would need a transfusion. I said wow. I had my Protein today and some yogurt. so far so good.best wishes on a safe weight loss journey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

started losing weight again
girlinnyc commented on girlinnyc's blog entry in Can this really work for me???
i used to keep up more...now that living with the band is becoming more "usual"--i have not put in too much. there's not too much to say other than i think my band is REALLY tight and if i get stressed out or am in a situation that feels tense--then NOTHING goes down--not even ICE CREAM! i didn't lose ANY WEIGHT AT ALL for 1 month--but all of a sudden, without doing anything special--i started losing again. the combination of the really tight band, not being able to eat under stressful circumstances (such as business travel--thank god for packing optifast shakes) and basically sticking to easy food like yogurt, juice, some hamburger and a few raw vegetables (radishes work, don't know why)...and voila--weight loss has been happening. and hunger has been minimal--which is why i wanted the band in the first place--to cut down on that endless "i'm HUNGRY" feeling. am also wearing a suit that i haven't worn in 4.5 yrs---ta daaah. that feels good. i even went shopping for a smaller pair of pants for work--as i was embarrassed that my "regular" pants were just about falling off--and i had to keep pulling them up--boy that is UNCOMFORTABLE to do while you're walking down the hall... i keep looking at the scale--not moving very fast in the downward trend--but i can still feel changes in clothing--and some people finally commented...so...SOMETHING must be happening--right?? right! -
how long with no food
HappyMom replied to Stacey627's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My post-op diet was a bit different: 3 days clear liquids (water, tea & broth) 4 days full liquids (protein shakes, juice, etc) 3 days REALLY mushy puree's (yogurt, pudding, watered mashed potatoes) 4 days normal mushies 7 days softer food (lasagna, tuna salad, etc) After 3 weeks post-op I can now have pretty much anything that I want except bread products, rice, dry meats, and some other harder to digest things. I agree with Jen, each doctor is very different in their post-op requirements. I have heard of some people having a full month of liquids. You will want to stick with whatever your doctor orders. Don't try to advance too soon! Good luck with your surgery! -
Plain is yuck agreed, try greek yogurt with fruit on the bottom just dont stir in the fruit..you get a lite flavor but not all the sugar
-
Hello, ever heard of this magical new invention called splenda or stevia? Adding sugar free fruit preserves to plain greek yogurt is fabulous also. i just miss the honey greek yogurt. I hate plain yogurt too. -Kendra

My NUT has suggested mixing in flavoured protein powder to plain Greek yogurt- like the Nectar Fuzzy Navel, Lemonade and other fruit flavours. Bonus is you get a extra punch of protein! Also try the Torani sugar free flavor syrups for coffee/italian sodas. You want to try and keep your carbs- sugars low, especially the first few months after surgery. Read labels- just because something is fat free (yoplait yogurt is a good example) doesn't mean it's going to be low in carbs/sugar...in fact it usually means sugars will be higher to make up for the loss of flavour from the missing fat. I'm pre sleeve but my husband Fiddleman is seven months out and I've gone with him to every pre and post op appointment.

Almost One Year Out..what Are You Eating?
BlackBerryJuice replied to Sara Ann's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm 1.5 years out. I basically eat anything I want, within reason (roughly 80/20 healthy/unhealthy). If I start putting on weight, I just take it easy with desserts and alcohol and eat more fruit. I put on an odd 2-3 lbs in the last month due to a crazy work schedule with constant availability of goodies and I just made a crap ton of fruit salad - blackberries, oranges, apples, bananas, and a tiny bit of Greek yogurt with honey - and ate that for Snacks and within a week, the weight was all gone. I don't count calories, but I probably hang around 2000/day for my average. For Protein, I just focus on the protein part of my meal and have Protein shakes after working out. Today, I had Greek yogurt with fig jam for Breakfast, 3 pieces of rainbow sushi roll and Bolthouse Green Goodness juice before working out, a Protein shake post-workout, and now I'm having a mixed greens salad with some avocado, mozzarella, and grilled chicken. In 2-3 hours, I'll have the remaining 3 pieces of the rainbow roll. Then the only meal left would be dinner - no idea what I'm having, maybe Indian food? -
I have several different varieties of Beans (canned and dry) in my pantry such as garbanzo, kidney, black and pinto beans. They are a great source of Protein and Fiber. I throw then in salads or Soups. I always have fat free milk, fat free greek style yogurt and low fat cottage cheese in my fridge. Great source of protein and Calcium. I always have chicken and fish packaged in individual size portions in my freezer (I use a foodsaver to package all my frozen foods). I just pull out a piece of chicken or fish in the morning from the freezer and thaw it in the fridge. It's ready to grill or bake when I get home from work. I carry a snack size bag of almonds in my purse whenever I am out running errands so I can snack on a few if I get hungry (instead of pulling into a drive-thru and ordering something I will regret later on)

I'm cleared for normal eating now so I don't know how much I can sympathize with the food thing. Have you tried the ricotta bake? That was one of the best things I had on my previous stage. I also really enjoyed turkey pepperoni baked with mozzarella cheese (obviously make sure you chew very very well). I also found some really great recipes online that you can make with Greek yogurt.

Bariatric Pal Store??? Non-whey options.
mousecat88 replied to mousecat88's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thank you. I'm not vegetarian or vegan, I just get sick from whey proteins specifically. I can have milk/yogurt/etc totally fine... but when it's a whey shake... super nauseous. I use soy protein shakes. I've found a few things off the bariatricpal site that I've ordered, like the lentil curry and the sloppy joe mix. I did order the oatmeal, which I believe is whey, but sometime it's hit or miss so I'm going to give it a shot! -
2+ years and all i am is fat and GASSY!
SpideyMom replied to Chele's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey, Chele, if you are vomiting up a Vitamin, you really are too tight. I strongly encourage you to go in to your doctor STAT and get a slight unfill. I ate something two weeks ago that got terribly stuck and I vomited it up. That caused swelling, and everything I ate after that (unless it was yogurt or a Protein drink) hurt to eat. I finally called my doc and went in for an unfill. The difference is night and day! I feel SO much better, and in just two days, 2 lbs. dropped off. So, don't think that having an unfill will necessarily cause you to gain weight. Get back on the bandwagon today by calling your surgeon for an appointment. I think you'll be very glad you did. We're rooting for you, girl! :frown: -
2nd Week Of The All Liquid Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery Diet
Lissa replied to CowgirlJane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking an acid reducer? That helps with the hungry feeling. Are you allowed Protein shakes yet? If so, that might be a solution for the evening hungries. Make it a treat by using a flavor you associate with dessert, if you can tolerate sweets. How are you doing on protein and Water? I'm learning now that sometimes my "hungry" feeling is actually thirst. If I get in all my water, I don't feel hungry. And, I'm a little different than many...if I'm actually hungry, I eat something small. Can you do cottage cheese or cream Soups? Both will help fill you up and aren't sweet. I see that you're allowed plain greek yogurt, so maybe one of these is allowed for you right now. I'd suggest broth, but you're probably sick of that by now. But, something warm in the evening might be just what your sleevie wants to see. Good luck! You are doing great so far. -
Examples of pureed/soft foods
heidikat72 replied to Armygalbonnie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Check out the blog "the world according to eggface". SHe has a post devoted to the pureed phase. And when pureeing meat - you can add some low sodium stock to get it to puree. Although I mostly pureed either tuna or chicken with a little plain nonfat greek yogurt - think pureed tuna salad. Her ricotta bake recipe also makes for a nice warm savory change. During soft foods, I also did the tuna/chicken with greek yogurt - just not pureed. And baked tilapia - it's a fairly soft fish so as long as I chewed it well, it worked. When I baked it, I had it wrapped in parchment paper to keep it from drying out in the oven and just be careful not to overbake. Low sodium deli meat was also on my plan at this phase - again, chew very well.
