    Non-Scale Victories!!

Great NSVs everyone, Keep it up! It's the little things that make all the difference. I'm taking classes at a gym and I can keep up with the instructor (and all the skinny minis too!)
  2. Entering the 2nd week. Struggling a little with hunger. Ideas for 2nd week liquids would be so welcome. As I understand it (correct me if I'm wrong), I can have skim milk. Can I have these things: V-8 juice, Yogurt smoothies (store bought), the smoothies from the recipes on this site, campbells Soup at hand, other Soups put through a blender (?), milkshakes (made with skim milk and sugar free ice cream). Any ideas would be so appreciated. NSV - Put on a pair of pants yesterday that fit me before surgery...but yesterday, they were just too big! I had to keep hiking them up! Happy July 4th Everyone

    Non-Scale Victories!!

My NSV--I've stopped buying new clothes. I know this sounds like a weird one, but when I was 50 plus pounds heavier I would constantly buy clothes because I never liked how I looked in anything and was on a constant quest to find something that looked "alright". Now that I am back to a size 14, I pull out my old clothing and am happy(ier) with how I look....thus no inclination to buy. It's like I have a whole new wardrobe. I might just save money when all is said and done, even though I was self pay for surgery.

Great on the exercise  Yesterday I realized that I have been going to the gym for one solid year - that is a huge NSV - I have never stuck with anything for a year - 2 weeks from today will be my 1 yr anniversary - then in 2 weeks going to Mall of America to met 4 other Lucky #7 Banders... Good Morning Ladies!!!! Hope you all had a great night sleep. I'm tired this morning but it's probably nothing a nice brisk walk wouldn't cure. Going to wait until little quack is finished with breakfast and then head out for a bit. Peaches, I'm so sorry about your mom. I know all the stuff about her having a long life and all doesn't help the frustration and the worry. I'm thinking of you and wishing you all the best. I may have missed it, but what is the prognosis? I know she is having a hard time getting around because of the blockages but that's all I remember you telling us. Karri, I'm thinking of you. I'll keep you in my thoughts all day. Can't wait until Janet tells us you're out of surgery and doing fine. Kari, I am still working on the site so there may be times when it's crazy and the pics aren't there. I'm getting ready to do a lapband page and we'll see what I decide to put on there. Who knows how adventurous I'll get. I hope you enjoyed the grandbabies, even though they can be snippy sometimes they will remember these times forever. I can't imagine anyone not noticing your weight loss so after the parade you will be flying high! I'm glad you are feeling great enough to get out and go this year. What an amazing nsv. Feel great about that! Okay....gotta run. Busy day planned. I'll talk to you all later.

    Daily News!

Hey JJ's! Such a cool thread! Thanks again Cathy! You are awesome!! Had a doc appt today and thats also in the fill line-up but I get to go in 2 weeks! When I was getting dressed this morning I put on a pair of my jeans and they were too big!!! So darn exciting! I haven't really noticed my weight loss yet but my clothes are showin it! HOORAY!! I've dealt with my hunger well today! I had the yummiest lunch. Spinach (i can eat iceberg lettuce, never have been able to), 3oz of a grilled pork chop, and a sprinkle of craisins. Sprayed it with the "spritzers" salad dressing, the raspberry vinagerette (sp?) one and man it was so great. and kept me full all day until about 20 mins after dinner time normally is! It was awesome! Oh and another nsv I went with my friend and took my babies to the pool today! I haven't gone out in public in a bathing suit in forever, dd has never been, so that was HUGE for me! I still felt like a whale but I didn't care, because I know that I am on my way to a new me!!! Sorry this got so long! Totally didnt expect that to happen!

Have fun! I can never get out on the Water enough. Where abouts are you sailing? Puget Sound? My brother lives in Bremerton. It's wonderful you have so many supportive friends! What a great NSV

Good lost! Now gain whats the deal??

I'm not being banded until tomorrow so I can't talk from experience but I've read a lot that we shouldn't always pay attention to the numbers on the scale to determine success. Wow -- with all that exercise you sound like you're doing great. Don't forget muscle weighs more than "fat". Celebrate your non scale victories (NSV). Good luck!

    Non-Scale Victories!!

NSV - I don't cringe when I see my self in the mirror. I actually smile. By the way, if they had to record your weight on or license in NY, I wouldn't be driving anymore. (& probably most women I know would agree.)

    PRGW NSV Thread!!!!

Ok, what does NSV stand for? It looks like nausea and vomiting!

    Gratitude?

I just say Thanks! We all work hard to be able to hear that. We need to embrace it whole heartedly because each and everyone of us deserve to hear those wonderful accomplishments. These are one of the best NSV's you will ever have. Each time you say Thanks! you radiate confidence and that.........IS SEXY! So stand up be proud and accept whatever compliment they want to throw your way. Oh and the best is when they don't know you've had the surgery so they aren't looking to see if you've change. Live it up!

Froggi, that is fantastic. Way to go. I am in a tight 16. I can zip them so I figure why not wear them. Great NSV

Isn't it funny how your weight loss makes you see other people differently? I look in the mirror and I just look like me, but then I can look at someone else and realize that person, who I always thought was thin, is actually bigger than I am. My NSV: I went to get a haircut at a new hairdresser last week. I told her I usually colored my hair, but I was giving it a rest because I had lost weight and my hair was fragile. She asked me why I lost weight, and I told her the band. She burst out, "You had surgery? But you're just a little bit of a thing!" Now there's a phrase I have NEVER heard applied to me before!

My NSV that I've been noticing lately is that all the people I met last year when I moved, and I thought were so skinny and tiny, aren't really all that skinny and tiny after all. I feel like I'm finally fitting in a bit and that's all I ever wanted.
  19. Okay - I think we need an NSV thread in this room....I'll be 1st :smile2: So - it's Saturday and the kids are at the neighbors playing for a couple of hours. You know what that means? A little "alone" time with DH... Well - he is so excited because he hasn't really been able to get it lately. Post revision surgery (had to take things easy), then my monthly visitor has to rear her ugly head. Well, anyway he is excited. Clothes start flying, hands start roaming and he stops and looks at my body. Something he has never done (his eyes usually divert). He mumbles, "I love your body". "I love your body."...WOW! I've never heard that - ever. I think we all dream of hearing it, even though we're fat cows. He's always said, "you're sexy" or something similar (like it had to be said)...but never so heated and honest. I started crying I was so happy.

    nsv for me! yeah!

the other day my sil told me she wished she had my arms! can you believe that? i am still in shock and i get this big smile just thinkin about it. i have had this fear about my arms being gross, so i have been trying to lift weights and, although i could be better about it, it must be working to a point! i was showing her my crossbow (generic bowflex) and she was telling me how she got a bowflex and then she pointed out to her husband how great (still in shock) my arms looked and she wanted to look like that. sorry to blab on, i just cant believe it. and then, sunday, my mom told me how skinny my legs are getting too! i had kinda noticed the same thing, but thought it was just my imagination. but its not. now if i could just lose this belly.....

renewed - saw you recent photo updates ; you look great, congrats on 15lbs in a month! great nsv - my oldest brother. he was scheduled in FL to have the lapband 2 times in the last 4 months and each time cancelled. he's a big wimp...LOL well he was in town 3wks ago and hadn't seen me since i was 200lbs - his surgery is 7.11 & won't be cancelling this time around. he was beyond impressed w/the results & that of my husband (also banded). he's a great guy, needs to drop 100lbs to fight some comorbids and be around for his 5 kids. sometimes these NSV's are more impacting that the scale!!

I just love this thread - great work everybody! My newest NSV's: Went to the local amusement park - and FIT on the pirate ship ride!! Last August (pre-band), when I went to go on the Starblaster, I couldn't buckle the restraint and had to get off ... my daughter (who was 9 then) said, "don't worry mommy, next year you'll be able to fit". Needless to say, when the bar on the pirate ship closed I yelled out the biggest YAHOO!!! with my arms in the air... It was priceless - everyone was looking at the strange wierdo who was screaming like the ride had already started - and it hadn't moved yet... I was so happy I almost cried. Went down a band size on my bra. Had a yard sale and got rid of shirts that were 26/28, and pants that were 24's. Currently buying 18's in shirts/pants - even got a size 16 :tt1: pair of shorts!!!!!!!!! Neighbors are starting to notice as I am outside gardening - they haven't seen me all winter (live in the northeast) and they can't believe how much smaller I am since last summer. I'm starting to feel sexy again. I no longer feel like the "heaviest person in the room". No more blood pressure meds (for a few months now) and @ last visit, bp was 112/65~~~ My daughter is proud of me - Brenda
