  1. Found an interesting review of this surgeon on another site... sounds very familiar. "My first post op visit I had lost 14 lbs. My 3 month post op visit I had lost a total of 35 lbs. At my 6 month visit I had only lost an additional 3 lbs. I never lost anything after that. Dr. Lucktong told me I wasn't eating right and needed to exercise more. I had a physical demanding job and was doing Water aerobics 4 days per week. When I went back to him 3 years post op I was 25 lbs heavier than my pre surgery weight. He told me that I had stretched my pouch out and insurance would not cover a revision. I asked if I needed to come back anymore and he said no. I am now seeing another surgeon who found gastro gastric fistula and said that my stomach was never completely stapled from my pouc h in the original surgery. Dr. Lucktong wouldn't listen to me and would not even consider the fact that maybe there was something wrong. March 31, 2011"

    July sleeve buddies

@ please be careful with the Diet Coke. Carbonation is no good for the sleeve. I used to be a big time soda and seltzer water drinker. But every time I am tempted I just think how hard it would be to do a revision and I am perfectly happy with my new vitamin water zero addiction thank you very much.
  3. Had my Surgery 6-4-15, best decision ever, don't regret it at all. I had the lapband in 2010 and revised to RNY in 2015. I only lost 30lbs with Lapband and over the years had issues with the band, I'm so glad I revised to RNY I've lost 58lbs so far and still slowly dropping SW 230 CW 172 GW 150 or whatever looks good to me

My original surgery was cleanse night before.noe next wks revision i havent heard anything yet.
  5. Congrats and God bless your recovery. Lord willing, I'll have revision from sleeve to gb for unrealistic bouts of daily acid reflux, regurgitation at night during sleep and excruciating chest pains. Im praying that this will fix it as my surgeon said that it would! I've been distressed this way since day 1 postop. I pray that yours gets better. Are you scared that it's not gone away since your new surgery? Have they given you a time line when you will get relief, but i am assuming that's why you were revised? Glad you're doing well. Sorry for all the questions but ty for answers:)

    SLEEVE TO BYPASS REVISION

@@RebeccaRN I just had sleeve to bypass revision on 10/21. So far so good no surgical complications. My heartburn is still alive and still on medicine. I take my vitamins religiously. I am losing weight at the "normal" rate. I was nervous as well, but happy with my decision. @@nailsbyniki I hope you feel better soon
  8. Hi I'm new in here. I'm due for revision from band to byPass on 11th December. Any tips or hints. I start my previous op diet on Friday.

For all who are contemplating surgery!

I am just beginning the process. Still have lots of hoops to jump through, but for the first time in many years, I am hopeful. I was banded in 2009 and it was the worst decisions I ever made. I am so hoping to get a revision to a sleeve. I am very happy to hear all of your stories!! they are so motivating and uplifting!! Great job everyone!!
  10. I had my gastric band revision last Monday the 16th. They removed lap-band thank god, that was a huge mistake. So glad to have that stupid thing out of my body. Feeling ok each day is getting better. I'm anxious to start soft food. Been doing liquid and Protein shakes. Stats: Age - 41 Highest - 270 Lost 30 with lap-band Surgery weight - 238 Current weight - 228 First goal is to fit into size 10 jeans. I gauge my success not so much on the scale but on how I look in my clothes. I've always weighed more on the scale than I think I look so if I went by just the scale id be so depressed.

    PCP Visit To Discuss WLS

Hello @@shriner37, I agree with that a lot of PCP's are generalists and may not have a lot of knowledge on a specialty such as bariatric surgery. I found a YouTube video of an interview that my doctor did for the hospital that he is affiliated with and his main points were about overall general health and fitness which he is into and has previously advised me to do. The problem is that I don't think that he is aware at the severity of me having PCOS. It doesn't matter how long I exercise and attrmpt to eat clean the weight that I lose always returns and more. I suffer daily from many ailments due to having this condition and from my research one of the best alternatives to effectively dealing with PCOS, high blood pressure, and pre-diabetes is gaving this WLS. I decided that I wanted to do the sleeve because I have seen that there are a lot of people who are having to go back in for revisions due to complications and outside of that there is too much maintenance with fills that I just don't want to deal with. I am also aware of the risks associated with getting the sleeve as well. I am going in knowing that he is either going to be supportive of my choice or that he may not be but I am not leaving his office until I get a definitive okay from him. Thank you so much for shedding some light on the situation because it helps me to remember some key points going in. I really appreciate it.
  12. Nailsbyniki - hope you are doing OK. I am scheduled to have a revision from sleeve to bypass Jan 5 2016. Not sure I am doing the right thing, but feel like I have to do something since my reflux is so bad. I worry about the problems with malabsorption and not being able to get enough nutrition - it is good to know that if there is a problem, something can be done.
  13. I am scheduled to have a revision from VSG to bypass on Jan 5. Keep wondering if I am doing the right thing. But I have been having horrible reflux and heartburn even on Protonix so I keep thinking I have to do something. I hope Deezjeanz that everything goes well for you - you will have to let me know how it goes.
  14. I had to have a port revision this week due to my port flipping over. It's been 6 days and the side of my stomach where my port is located is swollen and extremely tender and the surgical site is itching. My dr told me I could go back to work the next day after the surgery but I have been in so much pain I haven't been back yet. Not sure if what's happening is normal. I don't remember this much pain when the band/ port was initially placed. My surgeon is 3 hours away so I can't just run by is office and have him have a look at it. I do plan to call him tomorrow but I guess I'm just wanting a little reassurance that what is happening is normal... Any thoughts??
  15. Hello all, im Dee Dee. I just wanted to add and hopefully be welcomed here, I am a revision from the sleeve Dec 30, 2013. Since i woke from that surgery, ive had complications, so this is the method they've decided would help me. Although i lost 84 lbs, ive had difficulties with MAJOR ACID REFLUX, putting it lightly! So, Lord willing, I'm sceduled for Dec 4. Started liquids Nov 21st, did early thanksgiving for family last week. Although I've been down this road, it's still difficult bc of the head n eye hunger, leftover thanksgiving, ugh! Im scared being its my second one and increase chance of problems. But I've prayed for relief so that i can enjoy this journey finally, so tho I'm scared i have faith that this is my answer. I've been more than miserable for almost 2yrs post sleeve and it's time for relief. God bless all of ya'll on this journey and your surgeons. Gl from Virginia!

  17. Hello! I had lap band surgery August 12, 2009. THE WORST decision of my life. Finally after struggling for many many years, I am in the process of seeing if i can get this revised to the sleeve. Are there are any former banders out there that have had a revision, and if so what was your outcome? How did the process go as far as insurance? Literally starting over. Thanks for any help!

What surgery did you have? What complications, may I ask? P.S. your arms are Amazing! Thanks for the compliment on my arms...it's funny though, I think that's my worst feature, lots of excess skin...I think that might have just been great photography! Lol! Anyways my complications are almost too many to list: large hematoma with drain tube one week after sleeve surgery, severe reflux and GERD, 3 strictures with dilations, 2 hiatal hernias needing surgery, a myelotomy surgery, revision to bypass surgery, central line put in for TPN, then finally 2 weeks ago a jejunostomy feeding tube put in for nutrition. Whew!So you had complications with both the bypass and sleeve... Yes ma'am I certainly have...double trouble for sure! Still awaiting one more surgery to stretch my stomach once I'm healthy enough again to go thru surgery. Not looking forward to that one at all!

  21. Like wannaBthinsoon, I have been totally open and honest about my surgery. And while I haven't actually sat down and suggested WLS to anyone or even talked anyone into it, I do know of 3 people that had WLS because of my success. They approached me and I answered any questions they had. One had VSG with my surgeon, one went to a different Mexico surgeon, and one went through their insurance and had bypass in the U.S. I currently have 2 clients asking lots of questions and are considering VSG for themselves. They were thrilled TO hear about a WLS Option that wasn't bypass or lapband. Another friend is looking to revise her band to VSG. My PCP and OB/Gyn have also given my surgeon's info to some of their patients who don't have insurance that covers for WLS. Not sure how many, if any, have gone through with it.
  22. Hi um scheduled for December 18 myself from lap band in 2006 then again in 2011 for a revision and finally the rny I'm so ready! I was also wondering about the pain level after the removal of the port and level of energy as well as the time frame you think your ready to go back to work? Many questions!!!

My revision fro lap and to bypass is scheduled for Deceber 28.I am going to try Injury.I also hate sugary protein drinks.
  24. So I had been posting in Fill and Refill.... wondering why I was gaining and NOT feeling full. I kept a food diary and have worked out 2 hours a day at a high cardio and physical level. So... AM I LOSING MY MIND? My last visit this week to the Dr and while I should have 7.5cc in my band ( i kept track).... he withdrew LESS than 3cc. Big Alarms going off..... so now we have to go and a Fluoroscopy to see if there is a leak, band slippage..... etc. So... has anyone had this ? What do you expect? Could it be as simple as a tube replacement? So many questions.... and all of this must happen BEFORE the end of the year. UGH!
  25. Hello all, if this is still active. I'm having a revision to gbp Dec 4...from vsg Dec 30, 2013. Same issues as you all but mine started the day i woke from surgery, ended up staying 8 days. I have lots of chest pains so I'm terrified of gbp bc im not sure how that will fix my pains. They say is part of acid reflux, but i didn't know it could hurt like the feeling of swallowing hard rocks! I pray this works bc I've suffered since day one. Did yall lose more weight after the revision? My surgeon said that i prob would, i nvr got to my goal weight of 140 with the vsg any ways. But whether i do or don't, i just pray that it stops this pain and i can njoy finally my decision to get help in the first place. Gl all and thx for any answers you care to share:)
