1. I'm doing well. Thanks for asking. I've been on vacation this week. We had an out of state wedding and some work to do on the house. We also went to an amusement park and a water park. NSV's all day long at both of those places!! I haven't actually scheduled anything yet. I'm thinking late summer - with insurance requirements (18 months out from WLS) and time off work ... I'm looking at about this time next year anyway. I am anxious to get a few professional opinions though. I have a few doctors my band surgeon recommended and I want to see Dr Schulman. I know you are anxious for phase two – has your surgeon given you any indication of a time frame?

Kari - To funny yep boredom = eating but since I plan plan plan - I have been ok - I made mini banana puddings - I have these little 1/2 c containers - 1 reduced fat nilla wafter - banana - another cookie more banana - sf banana cream pudding - with lite cool whip poured over/and 1 more cookie - 3 Cookies x 16 48c - banana 50 - sf pudding/cool whip 40 = about 140 calories max - it was very good and I only had one - I find if I cook - it helps - I just make healthy foods. Yesterday I went to the gym 3.5 miles, cames home swam/sunned - napped- watched tv - read and Calories for the day 1000... So I am ok... Loved the God smack - and NSV. Karri - good to hear that you are doing so well and getting your protein - let us know how the doc appt goes tomorrow.. Phyl = great exercise and I got the other kasha stuff too - I am not into twigs either Isn't it funny think we need a tweak in our fills and then we get stuck.. Why did you cut all that beautiful hair off... but he is still a cutie. Steph - Yes fight for that 8 you will get it... Ssankofa - Great exercise Well gang I have been up since 5:30 - I have read my book, paper, 2 cups coffee - washed, vaccummed the house, cleand bathrooms, clean kitchen - cleaned bedrooms - all before 10 a.m. Now gotta Iron - and maybe get dressed - but who knows - oh 2 bottles of water so far 33.80 so half way there and it's only 10:30.. Ok off to iron - ck back later...
3. Please don't be scared, it's me! I needed to mix things up a little! Well, I lost another 3.6 lbs this morning. I am hoping to lose more tomorrow. I am watching my fat intake today! Back on track, am I! I've got to get this poundage off! For me the real NSV will be when I don't have so many problems with Water weight. Then and only then will I know I have reached a good place! Adork, I'm sorry you're having a hard time! Use all in your power to talk that doctor into giving you that gallbladder test! It's very important that you are able to rule it out. Then you're right, you can move forward. Have you had any more problems? Shelbi, I think your labs are almost identical to mine. I have started eating steel cut oats to increase my HDL's. I've cut down the red meat to decrease the LDLs. But yours are so close to being wnl. My doc wants mine under 70 due to my pre-diabetic state. If your fastings are always good, an A1C isn't needed. You can get that test -- if you want a baseline, but I doubt if it will be a problem. Did you get liver studies done and a microalbumin? Due to our Protein intake I asked for a BUN and Creatine and a Microalbumin. I just wanted to check on my kidney fnx. My ex eats Steel Cut oats every day of his life and his Tg are 40 and his LDL's are 50's. It's amazing because his other intake is not so good. Mal and Nic, thanks for saying such nice things about me! I think everyone was beautiful in that picture! I had such a good time that evening!

Good evening ladies. It's late and I'm sure you are all in bed. I'm just settling in for the evening. Kari, I love the term "God smack" and so appropriate. Too funny. I wish he'd smack me a little more often. Awesome NSV though. You've got to be tickled with that one. Phyl, what an absolute darling. My MIL is anti-crew cuts. I think they are the most adorable things you can do to a little boy but she pleads with me every summer not to buzz their hair. I can't do it to her. Aggravates me though because I think she's being completely irrational. He's cute though....you are surely very proud. SSankofa that sounds like a pretty good exercise log. I like the idea of walking right after you finish eating. It's a good way to keep yourself from taking those last few bits. I'll maybe have to try that. There is no way I can eat after I walk. Drink Water maybe but no way am I putting food in for at least an hour. I'm not sure about the food...a lot depends on your portion of stuff but there is no way I could eat a hot dog, 3/4 of a burger, some pork, and then add mac & cheese. Today I couldn't even get 3/4 of a grilled snack wrap at McD's in. My NUT says to consider a cup all you can eat. ... and a cup is about the size of an average person's fist. I know everyone's guidelines are different, just thought I'd share mine. I like the fist analogy because when I dish my plate I can compare it to my fist and decide whether I'm over doing it. I did horrible on the veggies and fruits today though. I really need to get it in gear. I need to get back to tracking on dailyplate.com because I do a lot better when I track. Have you tried that? I'm a little addicted to technology so I think it's kind of fun. Okay....I'd better get to bed. I can't sleep in tomorrow because I'm reading at church. I'd hate to be all bleary eyed for that. I'd be so embarrassed. Oh...forgot to give my stats for the day. liquid 75 oz. Food, grilled snack wrap, 1/2 taco salad wrap, two tootsie roll midgies. Going to get some kashi with blueberries in before bed. Exercise, walked the 5k route....from home it works out to be about 4 miles (I have to drive it to make sure) and ran about 1/2 mile of it total. Wii weigh in was great but official weigh in isn't until Monday so I'm not going to jinx myself by adding it. Still don't know if I'm going to make it to size 8 before MofA trip but I'm going to fight for it. Okay.....goodnight ladies. Have a great Sunday.
5. Remember you are in this for the long run. In my case it was not unusual to lose weight and then gain weight. I walk quite a bit which I find relaxing. When I do gain a little weight for a while I tend to concentrate on the NSV(Non Scale Victory). In my particular case I no longer use a cpap machine or take medicine for diabetes.

Getting off the meds! NSV

I went to the doctor (PCP) yesterday because I kept getting dizzy. I kind of had a feeling that my blood pressure was too low. It was confirmed and the doctor took me off of one of my BP meds. I was taking two different types. One to control my migraines and one for BP. Off of the BP and hopefully by next week will have the migraine meds cut in half as well. Also off the cholesterol meds. WoooHooo!

Good Afternoon Ladies Karri - Glad you are feeling better today. Hope you get the rest you need. It will make you feel better. Phyl - Darling little guy. Sure is a cutie. Janet - Sounds to me like you want to eat. DON'T DO IT!!! I have to tell you guys about my God Smack, yesterday. DH and I met up with DS in town for the annual parade. Beautiful day, nice and sunny, breezy and no humidity. Sitting there, enjoying myself when someone in the parade threw out a handfull of tootsie roll midgets. O-O-O-O chocolate. Got up to pick up a couple tht were in front of me.................over-balanced and fell flat on my face. (after landing on my bum knee....OUCH) Embarrassing. Now that is a real God Smack. MY NSV for yesterday. DH and I went back into town last night to see the fireworks. It had really cooled down so I grabbed my jacket. OMG ! ! ! My elbows just about hit the bottom of the sleeve opening. That's how big it was. Guess I'm gonna have to get a new one come Fall. TTYL, ladies. HAVE A GOOD NIGHT, DRINK YOUR Water AND MAKE GOOD CHOICES.

Great NSV's Harkingluv! jjsmiles~ Of course that is a true NSV! That's amazing! What an accomplishment. Oh, I have one more I forgot to mention. I can FINALLY wear my wedding rings again! I haven't been able to wear them since I was pregnant with my son almost three years ago! DH said he's glad I can wear them because he wants people to know I'm taken, lol! He's so funny....

My NSV's are: 1. Being able to wear a XL now from a regular store!!!!!! YEAH. 2. Going from a size 22 to an 18. 3. Giving away my bigger clothes because I know I won't have to save them because I will never be this big again. 4. Having my parents and family tell me that I look like I lost weight everytime I see them. 5. Not having a great big double chin (now it is only a little one) 6. Being able to chase my son around without getting winded.

I'm not sure if this is a true NSV, but I was pretty excited  I was at the gym yesterday (I go to a ladies only gym) and one of the employees/trainers approached me. The gym does a "wall of success" every year where they post before/after pictures and stories of people for motivation and inspiration. They take professional "after" pictures and the pictures and stories are posted up for a year. They asked me to be part of the wall for next year. ME - FORMALLY SUPER OBESE ME BEING ON THE SUCCESS WALL OF A GYM :tt2:. I didn't know how to respond - I was so blown away. Anyways - I said I had to think about it. I think I will say yes - even just for the irony of having my picture up in a gym as being a good thing (not in the "this could happen to you if you don't get control of yourself" cautionary tale kind of way) :biggrin2:. I just had to share this. Thanks for reading!!!

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Thanks, A - I like how I wrote the city, too. (Patting self on back...) In Naples, I'm staying with friends - the county's Chief Medical Examiner is my BFF since we trained together in Miami, and her husband is an ex-cop and a gun nut, so they're perfect contacts for S. Florida murder and mayhem-type stuff. But they're not real restaurant people, so I've managed to avoid that world. Although, in fact, paying too much money for tiny perfect plates would probably be better for me than paying very little for the massive quantities of food that is the custom at most chain restaurants. One NSV: when I look at my photo on the hardcover of PRECIOUS BLOOD, I can recognize how much weight I have lost.

Great NSV's! I went to the beach a couple of weeks ago and we ended up going to Shipwreck Island Waterpark. I was soooo glad I could actually participate and get on some the rides. At 330 lbs I wouldn't have fit in the tubes to ride, but I had absolutely no problem this time around. It was exciting because before I would have just sat on the side lines and watched everyone else have fun....never again!

That's a great NSV jfc!!
15. Hello! I agree - it is so nice to have 65 lbs. gone. I can hardly believe it! I've had many NSVs from being able to lean over and tie my shoes, crossing my legs, running (not far, but something I haven't been able to do for years) to many, many wonderful compliments. I've slowed down with my loosing - now loose from 4 to 6 lbs. a month but I'm satisfied with this pace. I have yet to have a fill - my doc says if it ain't broke, don't fix it - so I'll just keep going the way I've been going. I am so proud of us! Kathy

My wife and I both had the lap band surgery on the same day September 12, 2007. Having both of us on the lap band has been very helpful. I have gone from a 56 waist to a 38. But the best NSV is being able to keep up with the grandkids.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Congratualations Janet on your NSV. I hope you get a little R & R now. What sort of books do you like to read?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

PJ Welcome to the 50+ Gang - We are a great bunch and you aren't the only newbie - infact - Densie, Me, Phyl & Peaches are the only oldiest who are still posting. Congrats on your date - it's your new birthday !!! Well, as I stated before - don't have any plans for today - my son & his family have moved away so it's just me & GS who 17 and doesn't have time for his grandma , plus after my vegas weekend last weekend I am looking forward to a little R&R - but so far I have been up since 6:30 coffee then to the gym 3.5 miles - incline varied but got up to 10 without holding on (per my trainer & I have read this before holding on you don't burn as many calories as your legs are not carrying your full weight - and yes it does make a diff) Home in the pool for a few laps to cool off and then found out I had a great NSV - I no longer float last yr at this time I was bobbing in the pool like a beached whale - and this summer I sink :cool2: Loving it.. Funny how something so stupid as that can really make your day... Been to the store for weekly shopping - home put all stuff up and now let's see it's 2:15 I am sitting down - so much for my R&R Well think I will go watch a movie or read - will CBL  Remember - good food choices - and 3 bite rule :tt2:

I'm here to help...

You are going to college - that's great - DH & Kids ya I know what you mean - I don't have a dh anymore - which is totally fine with me - I feel that it's time for me I am sick of taking care of everyone else... My son is grown (and has had his struggles) and I have my 17 GS who lives with me - but knock wood he hasn't cause me any real headache.. Mentor - Well Alex (owner of LBT) started this new thread and I just happen to be the first to start the 1st thread within the thread (i think the 1st thread that was started by Alex will tell you what to do). So all you have to do is go above to lap band buddies / mentors (new) and start a new thread offering your help.
I am off to a great start today and I wanted to let you know. I am writing down what I eat, exercised, and feel a new motivation to start again. So thank u for your support. I would like to be a mentor, do you have to sign up in a program or just support those on this website? I have already been encouraging others and I really believe it is helping me. Have a great 4th! I know you are busy!!
Congratulations !!!! I am so happy for you !!! Yes once you get back in to the swing of things it will really re-motivate you and sometime a little competitiveness is a good thing - I challenge myself all the time. Since I am off today - I went to the gym this morning (I usually take Thurs/Fri/Sun off from the gym) I did 3.5 miles in 55 minutes without holding on and incline up to 10 at 3.5 mph - I was sweating like a pig but felt really good about my work out - came home got in the pool to cool off and realized I can't float any more - funny how something as silly as not being able to float can give you motivation... Just knowing that my body now has more muscle than fat is a great NSV and proof that all my exercise has been worth it - (with the saggy skin issues my muscles do show some but not as much if i didn't have all this loose skin - but who cares underneath there are muscle) Well off to the shower - gotta get errands done before it gets any hotter

Steph I am going to kick your butt Shame on me !!! What you are you talking about... 3 miles in 50 minutes is fantastic !!!!! Like you said the idea of walking 5 blocks last year would have killed you. Now you are walking 3 miles in 50 minutes GREAT NSV - BE PROUD OF YOURSELF !!!!!

First fill, and NSV!

I had my first fill on Wednesday. Easy-peasy, no worries at all. Only 1cc and no noticeable restriction. But, I go back at the end of month, sooner if there is no assistance in the hunger arena. Yesterday I flew from Vegas to Phoenix to spend the weekend with friends... and not only did I *not* struggle to buckle in (I can admit there were times I thought I would need an extender).... I cinched the buckle 8 inches!!! The belt actually sat low and tight, like they tell you, and I didn't spill over into the next seat. I felt positively lithe! ha ha ha I was giddy... and the guy sharing the row with me probably thought I was on drugs. No swollen feet at the end of the flight, no uncomfortable me hanging out past or over the arm rests... I was so happy!
23. pammycakes

A little NSV

The other day my boyfriend gets into my car and makes a comment about how close the seat was to the steering wheel. He asked me why because we had always had the seat in the same position, even though he is 4 inches taller than I am. Well my butt isnt as big as it use to be, so not only do I need to move the seat closer but I still have room between my belly and the steering wheel
