    Torani vs extracts

I personally cannot drink the SF Torani. It has a bad after taste that I couldn't get past. I also cant eat Kale either or the SF popsicles everyone seems to be able to eat post-op. I have added vanilla to FF greek yogurt and have added the powdered PB to yogurt as well. YUM
  2. I happen to love cheese, and cottage cheese has come to be one of my go to meal and snack staples. I like cottage cheese plain, but I also like it topped with something tasty. I like it with various toppings and add-ins like: Freshly ground black pepper Fresh, ripe, sliced tomato Fresh herbs (like dill) Fresh fruit Cucumber yogurt salad Greek salad toppings Kalamata olives Pickled beets Dash of salad dressing What do you like to add to your cottage cheese?

    Torani vs extracts

I use the Torani sugar free flavorings all the time. I use it for Protein drinks as well as my coffee and yogurt. I buy the plain greek yogurt and add a splash of Torani. Freeze that mixture and you basically have ice cream. Oh, my favorites are the salted caramel and coffee liqueur.

Proper Meal size at 3 weeks

My program says 1/3 cup of food at each meal. Most of a scrambled egg. Half or so of a container of yogurt.
  5. I was told 60-80g Protein and 64oz Water MINIMUM. And to stay away from bread, Pasta, rice, sweets and alcohol. That's it. The nut even laughed when I asked about calories and fat vs nonfat yogurt. She said I will be eating so little that as long as I was getting my protein and water and following the guidelines I certainly didn't have to worry about calories, fats or carbs. So I never did bother to count or track or measure. I get my protein, I drink my water, take my Vitamins, I eat healthy and eat smart. It's very simple and at two years out and maintaining 10 pounds below goal, turns out she was right. I was, however, concerned about not wanting to be low cal for very long....didn't want my metabolism slowing down. So I did "spot check" my calories a few times. I was never below 500 and mostly stayed at 600-800 the first 4 months, was up to 1000 at 6 months, 1200 by 8-10 months and last I checked, about 10 months ago, I was maintaining at 1400-1600 calories. I've never counted carbs or fat, so can't help you there.

    I am PISSED!

Totally agree with the others about the fact that you're in a stall, and read that post that Inner Surfer Girl wrote. But have to point out that your eating crackers or taco shells (soft or hard) at just a month out is also a danger, and makes me wonder what else you're eating that is very bad. You should not be eating simple carbs - bread, crackers, Pasta - at this point. And ritz crackers are carb bombs with absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever - even if you only ate two of them, they are bad for you and should be eaten very occasionally and months and months from now. Eating crap food this early in the game just means you don't have the right tools and mindset to help you work the sleeve (and I blame your doc for that if they didn't give you a good guideline of what you should be eating at each point in your journey!). Strangely, if you eat too little, that can also cause your body to hang onto every last pound due to starvation mode. It will eventually start back with weight loss, but it will be loss of muscle, not fat! So try to up your calories by eating more Protein and healthy foods, and get some good ideas for healthy meal options down and you should be okay. This board is great for support, so definitely vent, ask questions and do lots of research! High protein yogurt (there are many low carb versions; I like Kroger's carbmaster brand), canned tuna fish or chicken with a little light mayo and a green onion chopped up, baked fish like swai fillets seasoned with any variety of spices, Fairlife or Mootopia milk (lower carb, high protein milk)... there are so many things you could be eating that are going to be high protein and low carb. Save the crackers for many months from now (and try to find low carb or at least the whole wheat versions then), and concentrate on protein and healthy veggies. There are tons of great recipes here if you and also out in the googlesphere - search for sleeve diet recipes or similar. I'm sure you'll find some ideas that will taste good and be way better for you. It's early days yet. Don't panic - you're not a failure. Just focus on the liquids, the right foods and exercising, and you'll do great.

    Started the liquid diet

Thank you everyone for your advice !! I'm trying to get as much protein in as I can so that's why I chose the premiere. After this second drink and my yogurt I'll be at 75g for the day. Then I'll snack on soup or something. I appreciate all the advice and support !

    Phase 2, puréed!

Jello and yogurt yes. pudding only 4 oz/day. Tonight I ate 1 tbsp part skim ricotta with 1 tbsp pureed chicken mixed together. With some tomato sauce maybe 2 tsp worth and sprinkled some low fat mozzarella on top. I thought it was good. Ate 3/4 of it. Lots of tunafish/ chicken/ egg salad

    Phase 2, puréed!

I started the soft foods stage yesterday. My doctor does allow yogurt (Greek yogurt). Thus far, I have had thin-sliced turkey deli meat (also on my list) and some yogurt. pudding and Jello are not on my list. I think that the thinking is that those do not have much Protein and the priority in eating at this stage is eating soft things with protein.
  10. I am on the puréed diet right now and was wondering if anyone had some really recipes they'd like to share? Or some things you ate? Also, my doctor doesn't allow yogurt, pudding, or Jello in this stage, did yours?

    Protein powders

I like Dr Axe Collegen Protein for mixing into not-shakes. I put it in my coffee and tea. Naked Whey has a kind of almost cheese smell to it so that one is good for soft proteins like cottage cheese and yogurt. Both of these products are non- gmo and chemical free.

    Started the liquid diet

I tried so many different Protein shakes. It was a little pricey but I found some that I could tolerate much better than other ones. Its such a personal taste thing though. I like the Bariatric Advantage Orange Cream and banana. They were both good. I also like the Pure Protein Banana Creme ready to drink, in a can. Vitamin Shoppe makes a real good chocolate Mint. I am a vanilla guy, not a huge fan of chocolate but these things were amazeballs. whey Tech Pro 25 Chocolate Mint. Also, If you have not done this yet, its so worth it. nectar has a deal where you can get single serve sample packs of their flavors pretty cheap. You can only do it once, but gives you an opportunity to try their flavors. http://www.si03.com/EMAIL/nectar_gng_sampler/nectarsampler.html I also used the protein powders in the plain oikos non fat yogurt. That helps get more protein in. I also liked the Isopure prtein drinks. Its not as thick, more like gatorade but its an acquired taste. Hope these ideas can help.

    Started the liquid diet

I'm allowed the jello and Popsicles and cream soups and yogurt but I need to make sure I get my protein in so I wanted to start my dAy off with a shake and it is just sooooooo gross

    I am having potty problems

I have heard of others having this issue. Thankfully I haven't had bowel issues either way. If it's a matter of probiotics, perhaps it's because I eat a lot of greek yogurt.
  15. Congrats! My pre-op and post-op diet is the same. I'm allowed things like cottage cheese, light Greek yogurt, sugar free Jello and pudding, blenderized low fat Soups, Protein drinks, etc. I went to BJs before my surgery and picked up a case of the premier Protein Drinks and they also had a box of 24 assorted sugar free jellos and puddings. I'm only 2 days out from surgery and still in the hospital so I have no desire to eat anything, we'll see what my taste buds like when I get home.
  16. My full liquid diet after surgery includes light yogurt (with no stir ins), strained low fat cream Soup, Protein drinks, Jello, skim milk, sugar free Popsicles. I would buy enough of these items for your first 2 weeks. Also make sure you have your supplements. I'm excited too.. I'm scheduled for Jan 4

Proper Meal size at 3 weeks

Not all surgeons have the same program. My program after surgery was 2 weeks of liquids only, pureed consistency foods for the next 4 weeks, then on to a full diet. I just started the full diet yesterday and so far eat very little (about 1 ounce of lean meat, one string cheese stick). I still eat yogurt and make my protein shakes, but the amount of solid food I eat remains small. Most people have said it takes a while (sometimes many months) for the stomach to be ready to handle much more than that. I would definitely check with your surgeon and/or nutritionist.

    Gas, explosive style!

I am only 2-weeks post op, but giving my very limited experience, I would say your body did not like what you ate. I tried cottage cheese the other day. 1st time since surgery. My intestines felt like a racetrack. Must have been NASCAR with all the bumping and rumbling going on. Very much as you described. So maybe your insides didn't want Greek yogurt? Good luck.
  19. Not just explosive, but wet and with a light colored discharge. Came on yesterday after eating greek yogurt and some high protein granola mixed in. Been taking gas x but so far no help. Sorry if TMI, just worried about black age or Crohns!

    Beware Peanuts!

@@Proud2BMe They are a HUGE weakness for me as well. Did you know that a serving of honey roasted peanuts has 4-5 g of sugar and vanilla greek yogurt has 20-30 g of sugar? So it's a much better choice, right?? Maybe not. Not if I mindlessly munch on them and flavored almonds. I found Target brand ziplock bags with measurements on them. I started individually packaging nuts so I don't overindulge. They are so yummy!

    Exercising

Drinking Water...or hydrating--period, was very difficult for me; as it is for most. However, in the midst of my exercise routine, drinking water was much easier. Hopefully, you will find it easier to hydrate during your exercise as well. I personally tried to consume higher calorie foods on my exercise days. I needed the energy and sustainability to get through my rigorous activities. My biggest go-to was unsalted nuts or natural peanut/almond butter. At 6 weeks post-op, I know consumption is really difficult. At your stage, Greek yogurt embedded with fruits was my other go-to-food. The extra sugar gave me extra energy. One last tip for hydrating: ice. I love to go to my local Dairy Queen (I'm a Texas girl) and grab a cup of their fine, soft ice and munch on it. It goes down so much easier that drinking water. Keep it up!!!

  25. You should consult with your surgeon or nutritionist, as every plan is different. I was allowed protein shakes and drinkable yogurt on day 3 post-op, as I recall, but all my other liquids still had to be clear until I was allowed strained cream soups around day 7.
