  1. gone 4 ever

    Yeah!

My family Dr. had checked my thyroid out a couple of months before my surgury. I lost the first 15 really fast and just kept loosing and gaining the same weight (4 lbs) the rest of the time. I guess for some reason I was already at a platue. Now I feel like it will come off fairly fast. Don't know why I feel that way, but I do. :wink2: Thanks for your replies

    Question for the Women

This is exactly what happens to me. I tend to eat like crazy the week before my period and crave sweets. The next week is usually when I lose all my weight because as soon as my period comes I am really tight again. It all evens out. I find even when I 'binge' a little during pms it is still nothing like what I used to do because I am just not capable of overeating that way anymore.
  3. I was wondering how long it took you to lose your weight? I have about 90 pounds totaly to lose to be at 130 (goal weight)...I work out 4 days a week with cardio and weights. I was wonder what kind of expectations to have when I get banded. I do have PCOS, and became overweight the past 6 years ...and I am finally ready to have my old self back! I am starting out pre-band at 215 and want to get back to 130....Any advise would be helpful! Shauna

    My Surgent Had Lap Band

How fantastic to have a surgeon who knows not only what it really IS like to have a band but also the highs and lows of weight loss. I tell you what, I wish I could give my colorectal surgeon a bowel resection, radiation, ileostomy and ileostomy reversal! Maybe he woulndt be so unsympathetic about what its like to live with crappy bowels after all of that!
  5. Hi All, Guess who, a blast from the past. Please forgive me, it's been about a month since my last post when my husband and I were crusing to Bermuda. The Cruise was the Best ever! I have a lot to be Grateful for Today...3 years Cancer Free this past September, and an official -40lb weight lost in 8 months. My blood pressure is well below normal, I take 1/2 the medications I use to take, and working out 5 times a week for 30 minutes. My weight lost is slow BUT I am heading in the right direction. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

    First Fill Today!!!!!

So, it didn't hurt too bad? You were banded the day before me. I have my first fill next week and I keep wondering if it is going to hurt. You are doing great with the weight loss. I am kinda stuck. I don't feel any restriction now.
  8. I was sleeved on 12/07/16. My heavy weight was 362 lbs. I was down to 357 lbs when starting my pre op diet. This morning my scales showed 326.9 lbs. With total weight loss of 35.1 lbs. I'm worried I'm not losing enough for being four days shy of one month post op. Anyone else feeling this way? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Weight loss after gastric sleeve

Did I read this correctly that you've lost 35lbs in just over a month and you are worried you are not losing enough???!!! Please reset your expectations or you'll be disappointed a lot. You will stall, you will gain a few pounds along your weight loss journey. It is just how it works. Do all the right things and then don't worry about it. that is extraordinarily fast weight loss and not remotely achievable for most people. Give yourself a pat on the back and enjoy the journey.

    Loose skin

I've read that your end result will look the same no matter how slow or fast you lose the weight. Your body (or skin) may not snap back if it takes you two years or 6 months to loose excess weight. Your skin has more time to catch up when you lose slowly, however. It just takes the skin a little longer to shrink when you lose quickly. It doesn't mean it will never shrink.

    So Scared :(

Thanks for your support I was released from the hospital today after a month in the hospital. I had a mesh stent in my esophagus for a week, it was the most painful experience I have ever gone through, kept vomiting non stop for three days straight, the next 4 days in constant pain like something just wanted to come out of my chest. Had to stay upright that whole week was impossible for me to lie down so didn't sleep much at all through the week. But it's all over and I can not be more happier. I am on Puree foods for the next three weeks but having eaten nothing since the 7th of July, this is like a feast. As most people say there is light at the end of the tunnel, now on to start my new weight loss journey and to live a happier and healthier life.
  12. Hi all - I am two weeks out from surgery. I felt great after surgery for a couple of days until I developed a hernia from pushing my 70 pound lab off my lap! Regardless, I have absolutely no sense of fullness. Not even any of the "subtle" ones. I have experimented with some mushy foods (chicken, carrots) and those didn't make me feel full despite eating half a cup of them. Also nothing I've eaten makes me sick - although I haven't had too wide a variety. I am super scared I will have to rely solely on my "willpower" to continue losing weight after the first few weeks. I have lost all the Fluid weight I gained in both surgeries (bypass and hernia) and 10 more. If I don't have any full sensation and no dumping syndrome, I'm not sure this will end up working very well for me. Has anyone else had this? Did it resolve? I am very worried about this! Appeal With Cigna?

BabewiththePower, are you using the same surgeon that submitted the weight watchers documentation?
  14. Try increasing your calories. I know it sounds crazy but it works. If your body has acclimated to the 1000 calories a day it may need a bit more fuel to kick in. This has been recommended by my nutrionist to several people and it works. Just try increasing your calories to about 1200 a day and see if that gets the party moving. B/C you are doing so much more exercise, etc. your body may need the caloric boost to realize it will not starve to death if it lets go of the excessive weight. Good Luck and keep us posted on your progress!
  15. Now that I am so close to my goal of 150 I have developed new habits lol one of which will probably be bad eventually lol but hell I went years without bcuz of my weight. My addictions are shopping for new clothes and shoes and crossing my legs!! Lol I have been to the mall everyday this week!!! Lol I am very cost conscience bcuz I only hit the clearance racks and deals in shoes. So I haven't spent to much but I have spoiled myself. But my bday is dec 23 and I'm finished Xmas shoppin for the family already. And I have no clothes now since I have lost 76lbs. Now that I don't have so much extra weight I can now wear the heels I've been wanting to wear! It feels so good to shop on the clearance rack and always find ur size!! Now the crossing legs addiction...I LOVE IT!!! I haven't been able to cross my legs in years!!! Now that I can do with ease I can't help but to always sit like that now! I think it's so sexy and I feel sooooo sexy!!! This surgery was the best thing I cud have ever done for myself and my family and I hope anyone that is thinking about this surgery will definitely get it!!! IT'S SOOO WORTH IT!!!!

    Sex Drive.......found

I'm very happy for you, both that you are doing better, and even more so, that you have a great partner in life. These can only be good things. I put on weight after I got married and didn't want sex. I felt ashamed of myself, too fat to be desirable, etc, etc. Too bad this option didn't exist back then.

    Understanding something

2 miles may be the expectation but you will not get there right away. Exercising is free. If u have a community-based pool, swim or do exercises in the Water. If you have a park, take your headphones and go for peaceful walks. If you have dogs, go for longer or frequent walks. Etc. But once u do the surgery and the weight starts coming off you will feel better. And that my friend will give u more chances to burn the fat. You will do just fine.
  18. Day 13. Stopped losing weight. Constipated again. Got my period. Starving. Homicidal.
  19. Well, I'm sure being so close to goal that the pounds are going to be a lot harder to shed. What about your non-weight measurements over the last 7 weeks? Are you losing inches?

    Worried about my aunt.

Only a doctor can say if her heart is strong enough for surgery, but I do agree that losing the weight would help. Just have her see her doctor and discuss the risks and benefits of WLS. Hope this helps.
  21. They just emailed and said they have an opening in 2 weeks in Juarez with Rodriguez. I have about 24hrs to make the final decision. SOOO Scared and nervous. Just started even thinking about this about 2 weeks ago. I feel like I haven't had much time to process everything!! Has anyone heard anything bad about Rodriquez or the Juarez hospital?? BMI is around 32% and I am scared I will look awful skinny?? Is this wierd?? I can not ever remember a day I was happy with my body or my weight. I say I only need to loose 40lbs but I just can not imagine being smaller than that because it has never been an option untill now :/ But tonight at the dinner table my 7 year old was fighting with his brother over food. That was such a wake up call for me. He said that he loved food. That was the saddest thing I have ever heard. I do not want my kids to love food or be obsessed with food. Somethng has to change somewhere. Why shouldn't it be with me??
  22. I was wondering how long everybody needed post op to start working out? I also wanted to know if the sleeve made it easier to workout and firm up the loose skin from WL? I understand the sleeve lets you loose weight at a slower weight and I assume this would allow you to work out to keep up with the change?

On My Way For An Unfill!

    Wonderful. It's great to feel human again isn't it? I have the same fear, but I'm just being extra careful.. I had my unfill last Monday and have maintained the same weight, even through Thanksgiving. Please keep me updated! Best of luck:;

    Back on track

So I just found this app and I am looking for support. I am 14 months out I had lost 93 lbs. I have since gained back 24 lbs in the last 6 months. I was one of the ones who can still eat whatever I want just could only fit so much. I had some really bad pain last Friday after I ate celery (I forgot that was one of the only things that my stomach can't handle) But it was a wake up call. I am now on day two of really focusing on what I put in my mouth and how much. I just need some accountability and someone to connect with that is willing to help. Thank you for reading. Nicole
  25. So, I have an aunt that wants to get WLS. She was not interested in getting it until I had it done; I guess I sparked some bravery into her. She is only about 4'10'' and weighs over 300 pounds. She mentioned to us that she has congestive heart failure. This really worries me. Does having congestive heart failure make it impossible for her to have the surgery? I feel like, if she can't have it, then what is she going to do to lose the weight and correct her heart? Has anyone here had the surgery and made their heart healthier? I don't know how severe her condition is.
