  1. I have the same feelings! My surgery is the 18th. I was excited until someone said my surgery is next week. Then I panicked a little bit. Now I'm back to being happy about it.
  2. You may not feel real hunger for months if not a year. You need to set reminders to eat every few hours, and you need to be weighing/measuring your food portions for each meal. Please consult your nutritionist to see how much you should be eating (sizing, Protein amounts, total daily calorie goal, etc.) at your current stage. Also, make sure to drink lots of Water (or milk, or broth, or flavored sugar free drink mix) so you don't get dehydrated. Just no drinking with eating (and should wait a minimum of a half hour after eating so you don't wash the food out of your stomach faster). Not only can you make yourself sick from not eating and drinking properly, you can cause your body to stall out as it might think you're in starvation mode, so get on a schedule ASAP to avoid that!
  3. I am 6 weeks out and I cant each much either. Even if I overeat by a little bit I throw up. Is it possible for your surgeon to cut your stomach too much I once tried to drink some water too fast after eating and again threw up.
  4. So just few days ago I decided I want to have the sleeve.. No changing minds here! My seminar is only 2 days away and I'm ready to go to surgery today, right now as a matter of fact lol... I WISH I'll be set by end of October. I will do everything I can to make my process faster than ever!!!! I convinced my sister in law to do it with me and now I feel better that I will have someone who will be going through the same thing .. My sister did it in February and she lost over 70lbs... I hate the fact that insurances make you wait few weeks or months grrrrrr... I also need an extra step since I had heart surgery, my cardiologist will have to clear me, but I am thinking positive and in will make sure I will have surgery as soon as it's available .. I really envy those of you that are scheduled for surgery tomorrow am of course I wish you lots of luck!!

    5 days post op

Congrats on your surgery! I too was watching the show about that poor girl and knew I had done the right thing at that point. I am one week post op and have been losing on a liquid diet (two weeks here). I want to be healthy and watching that show gave me that much more motivation. I craved french fries the other night. My family was eating them. They smelled SOOOOOOOOOOO good. I quietly went into the bedroom, got a dab of Vicks and put it under my nose. Instant-Odor-Be-Gone! No more craving! Put that one in your bag of tricks and it may help on a rough day. It's helping on mine! Congrats again and welcome to bandster land!
  6. They had me do the scope about three weeks Pre-op, but they said that it only showed what was on the inside. The outside was where the scar tissue was. It was actually looped over and grown into other organs with scar tissue. I think me having it for almost 10 years and it being a smaller band both had a negative effect. I am glad they got it all done in one surgery. Some people have to do it in stages.

  8. I don't even know how to answer some of this stuff. There's a list of like 60 diets and you have to put which ones you've tried and when you tried them and how much you lost. I can't remember any of that stuff. I know which diets I've tried but I'm not sure about dates or losses:( It's going to take me a week to get through this paperwork.
  9. So I had my Lapland placed dec 17th which is making me slightly over three weeks post op. I weighed in tonight and noticed that I'm down 18.8 lbs.i started at 235 down to 216.2 is this normal? Ive been trying to eat healthier and only have only been to the gym twice for a total of an hour.

    Protein

Isopure Protein Water was my go to drink for the first 3 months after surgery and still drink one from time to time if I am running low on protein. They have a few different flavors but for me I stuck with grape and coconut. The are expensive but they have 40g of protein in each bottle. They run about $5 each. At GNC they have a buy 2 get 1 free specail if you are a member. Good luck
  11. So, by reading through some of the posts, I heard several people say that their Dr.s told them NO DRINKING OUT OF STRAWS???? Can I ask why that is. I know my doctor told me it was a no no for the first 6 weeks but since then, I've been drinking out of a straw pretty much ALL day long. Can someone please tell me the explanation behind no straws. Thanks!

    Post-op VSG pain

Hi Everyone I am one month post op today (3/23/21) from my laparoscopic VSG surgery. Everything is going fine. I was a low BMI patient and my weightloss seems to be in the normal range with a -19 lb loss in the month so far. I am eating soft foods now and getting my 64oz of liquid in. My incisions have healed fine. However, a few days ago i started having intense pain about 2 inches above my belly button. Its continuous and very tender to the touch. It feels like a very painful bruise or a sore muscle. Has anyone experienced this? Its hard for me to wear my usual leggings because it sits right where that pain is. I was able to sleep on my stomach soon after surgery but not anymore. Any insight is appreciated. Lucy
  13. Awwww good luck in ALL u do....sorry to hear about the C but u can handle every thing thrown your way...With positive energy and prayers all will be well...I'll keep you in my prayers....i had a good laugh about your pant...thats a good thing... Continue success in your up coming surgeries...and see you on the skinnier side....Am five weeks out and the weight is falling off slow but sure....heres to my pants falling to my ankles
  14. Hi all!! So surgery went well on Wednesday! The gas pains was definitely the worse part. I had to stay in the hospital until Friday to monitor my oxygen level issues. Pain is not too bad right now. I'm having trouble getting to both my water and protein goal. I've gotten down about 2 water bottles a day. And I finished about 3/4 of a protein shake, but was having some pain after drinking it. I'm guessing that should slowly get better.

    my first Post-op appointment

im going to california to help my sister at my parents elderly care home while my mom and dad go to ohio to see my brother graduate from the police academy. im not to ready to start working but i figure 2 weeks of helping out here and there will help me prepare for my job that starts 2 days after i get home hehe
  16. I'm going threw the same thing. It's a pain I know, but I am going in for a unfill Thursday. I wish it was Tomorrow, but I have a 2 1/2 hr. drive each way, and I don't get paid till Thursday for Gas... I was told that I am to tight, and if you don't stay on Clear Liquids, this will only start up again... So let me know what they find, because this sucks. I got a fill about a month ago, and was tight ! I new it, but I also knew that the band will relax. I was in the Hospital for 3 days, and a Nurse shoved some crushed meds. down my throat... Well from that point on I have been puking, foaming, and you say your chest hurts. Well on the left side of my chest where the band is. It won't even open for Water. So I am looking forward to Thursday. But again let me know what they see.
  17. So its been 3 months since I been banded and I must say I'm still having problems adjusting. I had to get fluid removed today because my band was too tight and I lost 15 pounds in two weeks. At this point I really don't like eating anymore and its become a chore everyday for me. I don't know how much fluid was removed or how much is left in my band and I think it's best if I don't know. But so far 30 pounds down.. .
  18. That is an awesome story! When I got home after a two day stay in the hospital, counting the surgery day, I really did not know what to do. I began to try to get in my liquids and Protein with my wife telling me what the instructions said. Slept a lot. Got my days and nights all mixed up but didn't care. Wasn't going anywhere anyway. Straight liquids all the way for the first two weeks. I felt weak and no stamina at all. Two weeks out I got dehydrated and my blood pressure got real low. Looking back I believe that is where the weakness came from. Went to check in with my primary doc and got real dizzy and they put me on an iv and got me straightened out. Been pretty careful ever since. No pain at all during this time until I got constipated at week three. Horribly painful but finally got past that with a little help. Be very careful because this is no joke. Seems to be a common problem. Four weeks out and feel pretty good. Only down 20 lbs since the surgery but from what I read on these forums, that is normal. Lots of diluted Crystal Light, popsicles, Better Than Bullion broth (low sodium). Creamed Soups. Premier chocolate Protein shakes. I was told i had to sip, sip, sip but i accidentally picked up my glass of crystal light on night and took two big swallows without thinking and had no discomfort at all. The thicker stuff causes me discomfort if I take it in too much or too fast. Some of the instructions I received when I was discharged listed what i should be eating/drinking in the first few weeks and also said "as tolerated" which I have found to mean, to me, take it slow and adjust to what is comfortable. I can definitely tell when i am close to full and I try to avaoid that feeling.
  19. Also wanted to.mention that I haven't felt hungry. I have been thirsty though. Made the mistake of taking 3 sips of water in quick sucession the other day. Major pain and discomfort. Will try to remain more mindful.
  20. I had handouts from my surgeons mandatory gastric sleeve nutrition class. At 2 weeks I went to pureed from only liquids.I eat super slow using an infant spoon(purchased at the dollar store for 12 for a dollar). I also got some 1/4 cup sized little disposable sauce type cups with lids. I put my food in those, and so far I really cannot eat more than that. I was given a whole host of written guidelines for daily protein goals and water/fluid goals. Right now I'm drinking my protein between my 2 ounce 'meals'.
  21. Im 3 months post op and my stomach still gets upset when i eat is there any thing i can take to calm my stomach so i can eat.

    Pain When Im Hungry?

Yeah that is what I was thinking too but my nurse put me on som acid reducers and it has seem to take the pain away so I am thinking it had to do with acid and when I ate it helped so it made the pain go away. I am suppose to be on theses meds for the first 3 months but for some reason I was never given them which surprised my nurse as well. I have only been taking them for like a week now but so far so good.

    Post-Op Brusing

I had a bruise from a trocar, it lasted for about 3 months. The doc saw it and immediatley appologized for giving me the bruise. I have no idea why it lasted so long, but now I am fine (7 months out)
  24. Honey, you are way too early to feel restriction. Just follow the doctors orders and you will be fine. Starting off at BMI of 27 will likely make you loss very slow. I would think maybe only 1 pound a week.
  25. I spent one night in the hospital after surgery. I couldn't sleep in bed, so slept in the chair. Walked around the hospital ward a few times and had some fluids. Once I got home, I had trouble. I still couldn't lay down and spent the next 3 weeks either sleeping in the recliner or sleeping in the spare bed propped up with about 5 pillows. I had problems with nausea, even though I was on anti-nausea meds. I was maybe drinking 6-8 oz of Water a day. I tried several Protein pre-mixed drinks and powders and my Tiny tummy didn't like them. I had no energy, my vision was blurry. I knew I was in trouble. I had my husband go get me gatorade and banana popsicles. The banana popsicles are what saved me. I was only able to eat 1/2 a one every hour, but it helped. I also stopped taking the anti-nausea meds and pain meds. I still had lots of pain, but used tylenol. I also found that V-8 juice helped me and Tiny tummy liked it. I am almost 7 weeks post op and drink 64 oz water most days and eat about 700 calories a day. I try to keep my protein intake above 60 gms a day. It was a rough first 3 weeks, but very happy I got sleeved.
