    Funny NSV!

My cat likes to curl up on my lap and use my soft belly as a pillow (and to knead). Lately I've noticed he's been having trouble getting comfortable because there is less of a belly! He's kind of a runt but can put his arms around my waist now, lol. Even my mom noticed when she visited last week. This was not something I thought about 50 pounds ago, but I'm not complaining!
  2. Congrats to everyone!!!!! I was banded on Nov 1st, 2010. So far I have lost 80 lbs. Down from a size 44 jeans/48 slacks to 36 jeans and 38 or 40 slacks. My recent NSV, The wife and I went to Vegas last week and found the premium outet mall. I was great being able to pick a L or XL shirt off the rack and it actually fitting!!!!! Needless to say I racked up on Calvin Kleine, Polo, and Brooks Brothers!! john

    Road to Onederland Challenge!

Seppi, I go for a fill on thursday as well. In my journey to be 190 by the deadline I have hit a small NSV. I bought a shirt at Walmart that was on clearance for $3. I love this shirt, and I couldn't wait to wear it. It is a size 16/18, and it did fit when I bought it, but it looked bad on me. I have big hips and I had a roll in the area of my surgery that I think was there before surgery as well. Anyway, I have put this shirt on 3 or 4 times and taken it off because it didn't look right. This morning however, I tried the shirt again and guess what! It actually looked ok! The roll in my surgery area was significantly smaller! I was so excited that I couldn't wait to come on here and share my NSV. Also, my scale yesterday read 195.6 lbs. I am not going to count it as a lb lost until I see it again, but it was good to see, LOL. Ok, I'm done :biggrin1:
  4. NSV's are the best! So glad you are having such success. Anna
  5. OMG I had such a FAN FREAKING TASTIC Weekend!!! Friday night was my unit's dining in and then Sat. night was the Army Birthday Ball here in DC! I had a blast at both events! The dining in was really cool as I've never been to one before! There wasn't a lot of "excitement" but there was a lot of laughter with the grog and the skits from each battalion! It was really cool to see so many of the Soldiers in their dress blues/ASUs and to see them "let loose" just a little! BTW this dress is a size 10!! It's an AWESOME feeling to actually FEEL good in such a form fitting dress! I remember the days when I wouldn't step out of my house with out my "hold me in's" on and I would wear clothes that were bigger to try and hide how Big I really was and here I was going out with all my co-workers in a dress so fitting! It was AWESOME! I got a TON of complints and some maybe a little inappropriate but I didn't care! hehe I really feel like I am even more apart of the "team" now since then! I "had" to drink from the grog because my table got in trouble and I did do it! Grog Co-Worker and I This whole weekend was really one big NSV for me! I was able to wear both of these dresses and I felt SEXY and Confident the whole weekend!!! Sat. Night was the Army Birthday Ball and it was a BLAST!! The ball itself was really neat to experience but I have to say I had way more fun drinking! LOL I haven't drank drank in a REALLY long time and I drank A LOT last night! LOL We didn't stop until 5am! LOL I have SO MANY pictures but I will try to pick a few good ones! LOL Me and Sarah I was enjoying the drinks! The backs of our dresses Heading to After Party at the roof top club Yes, I had to WALK down the esclator in my platforms! Hmmmmmm We went for a walk at like 330am and had someone take our picture! LOL Sunday before we left, lookin rough!

    NSVs!

Anyone have any non-scale victories lately? I'm only three weeks post-op, but today I noticed one of my rings is getting loose. The first of many NSVs, I hope!

    Surgery, “it’s the easy way.”

Or try to convince my PCP I can still weigh the same and have lost so many inches. He gives me a smirky look, he may not believe in NSVs😢

    August sleevers progress

Surgery date: 8/21 Doing ok. Lost about 28 pounds so far. weighed in on monday and again this morning, still at 242. I really hope im not about to hit this dreaded stall i keep reading about! Did really well first few weeks out.....now not so much. Not having any real problems getting anything down. The 'you're full stop eating' sensor still works but my weight loss has really slowed. Didnt notice it until i stepped on the scale. Trying not to worry about it to much I'll focus more on the NSV.

    Noticing Weight Loss

Jay, you are not alone! My doctors, my family, and people on Instagram see it but I can't see an inch much less 40+ pounds of a difference! My honest belief is that it's going to take something more drastic than 40 pounds for us to see it. My therapist agrees with me. I also believe that I need to keep going to my therapy appointments, documenting my food intake AND not only my pounds lost but my other measurements to help myself see that my body is changing. Other people have mentioned NSVs (non-scale victories)- do you have any in mind? You don't have to share them (unless you want to!) but they're also a great way to keep track of weightloss progress! I'm keeping track of mine in a journal because I love to write, but there are tons of ways to do it! Find what works for you. If you need someone to vent to or whatever, don't hesitate to look me up. I'm always on here or MFP or Instagram.

    Woot Woot Crossed Legs

    Love thoses NSVs! Congrates!
  13. My surgery is tomorrow and so far in the last 3 months on the dr monitored diet I have lost 53 pounds. I was feeling different and seeing some NSVs, but then when I took my preop photos, I was disappointed because I didn't see a difference from my starting photos. Until I put them side by side. The starting photos were after I had already lost 11 pounds, but were when I finally decided to proceed with this option. I have never let anyone but my husband and kids see this much of my body and I wasn't planning on sharing at this point, but then I realized that we are all here together for support. And dang do I need the constant reminder that I am doing this for a reason and I can't only show the good photos or else I'll still be hiding and denying. So here they are. Top line is starting photos 42 pounds heavier than the preop photos on the bottom line. PS all those bruises on my legs are just from having to inject heparin three times daily HW: 328 (02/21/17) CW: 275 (preop 53# disowned)

    May's Chat

Hi everyone! I remember the days when I could not wait for the weekend, today I was glad to see it was over, I worked my butt off!!! DD's place will be so nice for her and the baby though, it is worth it. We got most of the kitchen and LR primed, textured and painted, the wainscoating (SP?) up in the LR, is looking awesome. So what did DH do?? He was worried about the main bathrooms floor, it seemed warped he thought. Well he was right, there was a leak going under the tub to the sink....both of which are now removed...along with the entire floor! So he is rebracing the floor, new insulation, and then the new floor. And while it is all being repaired, we might as well put new fixtures back in, says he...$$$ Add another weekend of work ahead of us! The whole project is giving DD and DH some very quality time together, which she needs, she needs to see what a real man is like. This is her step Dad, tho one would never know it, in fact more people comment on her looking like him than me!! It is pretty funny! Mary, I always think of some of the similarities you and my DD are going through with divorce. Her soon to be ex, finally decided to put the house on the market...and it sold within 24 hours, full asking price, CASH!! He is spinning his wheels now, he has to be out by the 23rd!! HA HA HA Hope you get as lucky! So....Beannie, my boots are paint covered and ready, better keep up the good work!! I am way to damn tired to be kickin' you!!! Thanks for all the input on the anniversary party. I have ordered from Oriental Trading twice now, and picked up odds and ends in every Dollar store in town. The Big Lots here has a section right now for Luaus, I got some cool Tiki statues there. And today at Target, I found fake coconuts for them to drink from! Also picked up a CD of Hawaiian music. My DD has several friends still in HI. She and her ex were stationed in Oahu for 4 years. So she is having real lei's flown over for my parents, the rest of us will make do with fakes!! When I took my folks over to visit with my DD when they were stationed there, my Mom fell in love with the Plumerias, so DD wants her to have some. We are planning on Teriyaki Chicken kabobs and grilled pineapple...any other food suggestions? Betty I never saw the bike....and would love to. We currently have 4 running, and he is working on #5. I am so looking forward to losing weight and enjoying it more. My back got to where it wouldn't take long rides. Congrats on your win...how fun!! Donna, the "poem", or writing you included was right on the money! I like that a lot. Thanks for sharing it! I fully believe being happy is a choice we make. You have to want to be happy. Sometimes it takes pulling out a good memory, to do it, but that's why you store those times like your great bike ride with DH....and use it to stay happy. So how did it go Cindy...did you make 3 days? I hope so!! I hate headaches, and remember my migraines, I cannot sympathize enough!! Hope you are working towards day 4! Sherry, how are the new rocks working? My Dad would kick my butt, some of those are NOT rocks, they are minerals!! He is a collector!! He has an awesome collection, the only rocks I have are in my head!!! Hope yours help! If so I'll go rob his collection! Patty...any luck on ties? I could send some but, the only kid I had who wore ties, was a daughter who worked awhile for Dairy queen, and all her old ties have Winnie the Pooh or Scooby doo on them!! Kids grow so fast it is hard to keep up with their clothes. Hopefully soon you will be needing smaller ones as fast as they need bigger ones!! How'd the color job turnout Bubbame? I have occasional highlights done by my stylist, would be scared to do my own, I'd end up with green hair or something! Ok, gonna quit here, and head to bed, sorry, I know I missed some of you...my brain went to bed without my body I think!! Oh yeah!! I have a big NSV......no Blood pressure meds for 2 weeks, and tonight it was 126/52. And I measured today, and have lost 12"....that's a foot!!! (Not however the one used to keep you in line Beannie!!) Night all!!! Kat

    Close thy mouth.

I am not sure when I will quit thinking I am fat. When I was in our pool with my son and he was think of a name for me I was so scared...he came up with "Pretty Shark"..you know I was thinking he was going to say..pretty whale! I don't think I could of taken it if he would of called me a whale even though he is only 3. I also only weigh 149 lbs now..yeah!! but in my mind I still see the old me and I still don't like mirrors either. Anyway, congrats on all of your NSVs and btw I celebrate losing ounces...so keep dancing away your 2 lbs.

    May Bandsters~January Chat!

I had a NSV this weekend that made me pretty happy. I went to a consignment store to check on some stuff we had for sale and decided to look at the clothes. I found a pair of size 14 levis that I liked but knew they wouldn't fit......yet. But I bought them anyway since the price was right. Then I looked at the 16's and found a pair of tan jeans that I liked and they were only 4 bucks, so I thought, what the heck......if they don't fit, they will in a while. So I took them home and put them on. I didn't have to lay down to zip them, I could breath, move, talk.......everything you should be able to do in jeans!!!!! They are a bit tighter than the jeans I've been wearing lately, but they fit! Yeah me! Size 10, here I come!

    Anyone heard from Laurend?

Lauren, great to hear from you! Congrats on your weight loss to date. Post some NSVs and how you are doing from time to time.
  20. So it has been a year. To the day. Wow! Just…wow. Progress has been steady. Had a slip up but I am back on track. I think there for a little while I felt bullet proof, you know? Nine months out and I was doing well. I have an additional metabolism issue (genetic) that I knew I would not be the high end loser, so I was comfortable with my loss. I had a foot injury, couldn’t run for a long time, couldn’t do as much of what I normally do as often…and let some bad habits creep in as I dealt with inactivity (inactivity = boredom for me). Holidays were approaching and I was really feeling the loss of my Mom (My Mom passed away a week after my surgery, unexpectedly). So I slipped. Then I caught myself and got right back up again. My “last diet” began in January of 2011…I lost some after months of trying, kept it off a little, and about the same time it began to creep back on I was diagnosed with a tumor in my stomach lining – call it serendipity or what you will…I had to have a lot of my tummy removed anyway, I had lost weight I did not want to put back on, and long story short: “last diet” 1/2011, diagnosed w/tumor 10/2011, sleeved 1/4/2012. I was self-pay more than insurance covered anything, because the insurance argued I could get the tumor removed endoscopically, grrrr…but oh well and bills, bills, bills later (paid but disputing a balance w/ with my insurance) sleeved…and I would pay so much more, in hindsight. It has been a crazy journey, so many NSV, so much rediscovering myself….I am nowhere near done. Support from this group has been so important… I am back into everything I missed, trying new things, and there is something about this – doing this now – it is like I am discovering a whole new me. At 39 years old, I am coming “into my own” at the same time I am adapting to my new body…it blows my mind still… Size 14 for now…will maybe try for 10, but 12 would be great. At 5’10” and built like a linebacker, rather than a ballerina it’s a good size for me. Wish me perseverance, and strength - and the same to you all… God Bless. Namaste. Always.
  21. Sounds like alot of NSV's in your neighborhood! Good for you.

My NSV Goals! What are Yours?

I'm nearly at goal weight now, so I've enjoyed lots and lots of NSV's. But really from hereon in, weight is actually pretty irrelevant to me, its NSV's I'm after. 1. I want to get rid of those annoying poochy bits - the muffin top, the jiggly bits on the sides of my butt and that last stubbourn pocket of fat on my belly. I'm realistic about not looking like a supermodel though. 2. I want more MUSCLE. I really want to still change my body composition quite substantially although this may not involve a lot of actual weight loss 3. I want to be in an Australian size 14. 4. I want all this by next week. Sigh. I know it will probably realistically take me another year to hone my body to what I want it to be. I've done the big weight loss bit, now's the time for the sculpting and toning. 5. Next October I want to run my first half marathon.

My NSV Goals! What are Yours?

My NSV goals are: 1 - to buy clothes off the regular racks 2- to be able to tuck my shirts and sweaters into my pants 3- to fit a size 12 or 14 Meeting these goals would make me very happy.

    Edmonton Alberta- Sleevers

I am 7 pounds to my personal goal of 135. Dr goal 165 -170. To date ive lost 128 pounds it seems surreal. Yesterday at post op I acheived a great nsv...finally a normal healthy bmi. From severe morbidly obese. Its a victory for myself. So happy we are all enjoying success.
  25. Sassygirl06

    Your most exciting NSV

i have had a few...tonight though i was out with my kids trick or treating and i ran into an old co-worker of mine. it was dark out so she couldnt see me to well, but she gave me a hug, and while she was hugging me i could feel her hands feeling around for the rest of me...haha she stepped back while still holding my waist and said, oh my god, where is the rest of you! i laughed and told her that i have lost 80 pounds and she was flabbergasted! to fun my other nsv happened a while ago that i already posted once, that was when i put on a bath towel and for the first time it fit all the way around me and tied in the front. that was sooooo cool!
