  1. I guess that you can say that i have relatively normal hunger at close to eight years out - I get hungry near meal times (getting there now, about an hour away from dinner and that pot roast in the kitchen is smelling awfully good!) and if I get busy and skip a meal a will feel hungry for a while until I get distracted by something else and what do you know it's way past lunchtime. Loss rate can be quite variable, but you have a lot going for you being male and young-ish (in your 30's if I remember other posts?) which tend to help things. With the sleeve, I needed to lose about 100lb, having lost 50 or so a few years before and kept that off, and I was starting to ramp up my intake at six months to slow things down and ease off that last 10 lb. And I wasn't being all that aggressive on trying to lose fast in preference to losing sustainably; there was another guy online around that time with similar stats to mine and he was done in about four months by keeping his calories lower (similar 100lb loss with the sleeve) so it is quite possible. What I would look for as an indication of your loss rate would be your history - how easily have you lost in prior attempts - and that can be a good gauge. Good luck with it, whichever way you go....
  2. Hello everyone, I was sleeved 2/8/19 and so far it’s going well. The only thing is my surgeons guidelines are a liquid diet for a month and then a puréed diet for a month after that. I am finding myself wanting more than just liquid already and I can’t imagine another 3 weeks of this mostly because I feel like I won’t be able to get enough calories like this. I was just wondering what everyone else’s restrictions were and if a full month of liquid is the normal routine?
  3. I have been obese for about 10 years....now that I have lost 81 pounds..22 more to go to get to my goal...when I look st myself in pictures, I still see myself as not “thin”. I realized that this Valentines Day when my husband and I took some pictures before going out. My sisters all said that I look great etc but when I looked at the pics all I can see is that I still have big legs. Body dismorphia I don’t know but it’s very real feeling and view of how I see myself when I look at my pics. When I look at pre surgery pics I can see how much larger I was but for some reason it doesn’t translate when I look at the new pics I take.

  8. Ask to see the PA or your surgeon and discuss your concerns. I would tell them you want to walk- just buzz them to come help you up. Just be your own advocate and ask for whatever you need. Broth , room temp water, popsicles tell them younfeel congested- ask for an incentive spirometer and start using it 10 times an hour or as much as you can. Just try to stay calm ...

    January 2019 sleevers

I was sleeved on 01/24/19 and I am down 17.1 pounds. I was hoping for more but I went on a cruise for two weeks less than a week after my surgery. I, for the most part, followed the doctor's instructions but did have some cheat moments. My surgeon does things differently then what I have read in this forum so I am already on solid foods. I feel no hunger-NONE-it is very strange, I only know to stop eating when I get this small jab in my chest. I have had minimal issues-mostly diarrhea-and believe it is when I have eaten too much. This has only occurred once. I am hoping that once I am back in my hometown that I be able to get on a good program. I look forward to seeing others and their progress.
  10. Well think about it this way these people are mostly immobile and cannot leave their house so the parent becomes the carer. The cook. The person who does the shopping so they are responsible. How can you say you love or care if you sit back and watch your child get bigger and bigger and do nothing at all to help. Then a few episodes there was 2 young girls early 20s that were 600lbs and could barely walk one girl mentioned that she was 400lbs at 12 years old, well who the hell is buying the food feeding the child? The parents are paying for everything and watching their little girl get bigger and bigger each year. How is it even possible for a child not even a teenager be 400lbs and nobody intervene before she gets any higher? A 12 year old girl shouldn't even be more than what 150lbs! So I agree the parents are to blame she didn't go from 100lbs to 600lbs in a couple of years she progressively put on weight everyday for 10 years to hit 600+ at 23! I feel so sad because girls in particular deal with body image more than ever at a younger age and that poor girl really had no life up until she got the surgery! I have 8 nieces from 3 to 17 and neither one of them is overweight. I have 7 siblings and I'm the only one who has dealt with obesity!

    Head Hunger is REAL!!

I definitely believe in head hunger though I refer to it as "mouth hungry". It is definitely an issue with me because I had surgery on 01/24/19 and can't eat more than an ounce or two but I still want to eat-just for the taste. I have had NO feelings of hunger-NONE. I only know that I am full because I get a small jab in my chest, then I stop eating-but I love the taste of food and want to keep eating. I follow my doctor's orders but think about food a lot more than I thought I would-not because I am hungry. I have lost weight and don't overeat (afraid of dumping) but boy do I wish I could eat! I am trying to find some other ways to occupy my time and thoughts.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Scheduled for 2/19! For those of you who had surgery this month, how are you feeling now? I am supposed to chaperone a field trip 2 weeks after surgery and I want to make sure it's feasible for me to sit on a bus with 60 2nd graders for 2 hours. 14. I have a very similar story, Amanda. I started thinking about doing this three years ago and actually met with a doctor at that time--but I kept thinking I could lose this weight on my own (and I'm sure I could, because I have lost and regained the same 60 pounds multiple times over the past 30 years). Fast forward to 2018. I was having a physical and my doctor said I needed to lose weight. I am 59, and he told me that at my age there was very little chance for me to lose a meaningful amount of weight and keep it off without surgery. Then he said that if I didn't have the surgery, I had about 10 to 12 more years before having a massive stroke or heart attack. That did the trick! I will admit, however, that it will be nice to board a plane and not have everyone looking at me and thinking, "I hope the fat guy isn't sitting next to me."

    Throwing up

My advice would be to find a bariatric doctor who has done removals and get it removed and discuss revision surgery if that is what you want. Vomiting is a bad sign. I had my band removed a couple of weeks ago after having it for 10 years. Hated it every day. Should have gotten it removed sooner. Even if you have to travel find an experienced bariatric doctor. Look online and Google reviews. Good luck.

How long have you been obese?

I was very healthy and fit in my youth and teenage years. (Even though I thought I was fat) I got married at 22 and steadily gained weight. When I was 26 I was diagnosed with PCOS which makes gaining weight super easy. Then I had two kids within two years and it's just gotten worse. I have been in the 300's for more than 10 years. But come March 11 (surgery date!!!!) I get to change my life!!!! Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

How long have you been obese?

Well that's a hard one I never really looked at myself hard enough when I was a kid but I think I started to get cuddly from about 12; got bigger through high school but don't think I actually hit OBESE until I was at least 21? So I guess to be frank my weight issues have been around 20 years, it's weird because if I look at 'elementary photos up to 10 I was a skinny little runt but then around the time of puberty it all went down hill year by year but yeah obesity probably from adulthood until now I'll be 35 this year when I get my RNY BYPASS. I did have one year "2012" I managed to get down to 200 lbs and life was great, had more female attention in a few months than I ever had in my life prior but life happens and put most of my weight back on a few years later and now I'm at 317; finally I'm back mentally in a good spot and really committed to getting surgery this year and starting a new life!!

    February 2019 Sleevers?

I had my surgery on Feb 6th and I lost 10 lbs the first week on the clear liquid diet, but now that I'm on a full liquid diet, the weight loss has slowed slightly -- I'm still losing but at a much slower daily rate. Has this happened with anyone else? I also have a hard time drinking water still -- it makes me nauseous. I've been drinking a lot of other liquids but I find it impossible to hit that 3 liter daily liquid goal without being able to drink much water. Other than that, I physically feel totally normal, hope you all are recovering well also!
  21. I'm curious if anybody knows first hand? I have a kidney condition I've had all my life. I take serious meds span K potassium 600mg X 15/day Sodium bicarbonate 840mg X 10/day If I miss my meds for even a week my potassium levels plummets and I can be hospitalized. My condition is rare it's hard to explain but that's what I know. I'm not sure if there will be any issues with a RNY BYPASS since we're told to take vitamins and supplements anyway and mine are just real strong script only!! I know I'll have to ask surgeon when time comes in just curious if anybody had any issues before???

Kitty cats! Pets are the best support.

I have Ceilidh who will be 12 this summer. She's a roly poly cat and thinks she needs to be shaped like a football. Then there's Haggis who is feisty and adventurous. She'll be 11. Then there are my two puppy loves, Peaches (10) and Turtle (3). All of them were rescues and are my reason for getting up in the morning.
