Good luck with your surgery, Rabid24. Let me know how it goes. Question....what all did you eat on the liquid pre-op diet? I don't like cottage cheese or yogurt. Hugs!
-
Yes my surgeon considered these full liquids "cottage cheese and yogurt" plus and whole lot more like oatmeal. I know they are all different. Remember when I was freaking out because I didn't have to go on a "liquid" pre-op diet? and it seems like everybody else on here did.

greek yogurt, protein shakes, smoothies

I eat hard cooked eggs. I remove the yolks since they don't agree with me, but two hard cooked egg whites are only 34 calories with 8 grams of protein. If I'm still hungry, I have Greek yogurt-Dannon Light & Fit is 12 grams of protein and only 80 calories.

My First Mushy Meal Post Band Surgery
daisychains7 replied to azhoselady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yummy! My first non liquid meal was lemon Chobani yogurt. Never tasted so good! It's crazy how a portion that seemed so tiny before surgery now seems like A LOT of food! Eating 1 cup of food takes me 45 minutes and I feel stuffed. I am not on mushies anymore.. if mushies are the same as pureed food? I am on soft foods. Lots of ground meats, tilapia, and canned fruit. -
Low sodium deli meat, laughing cow cheese and cucumbers are always a good on the go lunch. Use the cucumbers as you would a cracker. I also find that I eat a lot of greek yogurt and cereal for lunch now. Very filling.

i absolutley cannot vomit with my band -- food gets stuck and i litterally have to force it out... sometimes to the point where i broke all the blood vessels in my face and it looksliek i just gave birth again.... LAP-BAND® 9/2005 02/06 - slip 03/06 - re band throught the past 5 years I have STRUGGLED and the ONLY time i lost weight was when the bad was so tight I barely could drink Water. One day I would be able to eat yogurt, the next day it would get stuck -- it was this way constantly and Id never know what i coul or couldnt eat unless i tried - so in teh end I have a band with 1/2 fill so i can eat normally but it defeats the purpose of even having TWO surgeries because here I am weighig in 10lbs les then my 1st surgery and 10 more then my second.... Just went to the Dr. yesterday and he suggested I look into the bypass revision. He made it sound really good but he also didnt leave out the fact that because it is a revision - the risks are automatically higher for compications. I sit here wondering if my body had this many compications with a simple band who will ti react to a bypass? Maybe I will do great with bypass and i will finally see results Ive been striving to see forever what is I am the 15% that thigs go drastically wrong My job now covers this revision - if I waitr health care might change ................................... I too dont know what to do! Complications? What kind of complications? Like is its "dumbing" more often.. k I can handle that.. If its leakge... that can cause death.. IDK I wish I could survey 100 ppl who had this themself!

Hey all. I'm one week Post op. Where do I start. Well the day of surgery I was pretty out of it and really tired from the anesthesia and pain meds. My doctors and nurses kept me really comfortable with my pain. I had to have an upper GI study before I was able to drink anything. Unfortunately my system was moving really slowly, so I had to have the upper GI done three times until things finally started to move along. My second time doing the GI, I fainted, but thankfully the doctor caught me lol. After things were good, I was finally able to do ice chips and I couldn't of been happier. After the ice chips, I started to do Water. The next day after surgery I was able to do sugarfree Popsicles, and broth. I really didn't care to much for eating or drinking because I was to tired, but they wouldn't discharge me until I was able to drink 4oz of water in a hour. My pain was bad, but thankfully they were keeping it controlled. The gas pain was horrible. The worst part for me was getting in and out of bed, that is when it hurt the most. When getting home I felt a level of regret, but just kept reminding myself why I'm doing this. I was doing Protein shakes, sugarfree Jello, sugar free Popsicles, and broth. I was doing good for the first three days, but after that I started to feel nauseous more which made me sad lol. I've been taking my water in perfectly even though I feel like I'm starting to hate the taste now lol. I have now been able to add sugar free pudding, low fat yogurt, egg beaters, cottage cheese, and refried Beans to my diet. Well I'm not a bean and cottage cheese kind of person, but I was so excited after doing liquids for so long. I tried beans with ms.dash seasoning and it was a fail! They were so nasty. I then tried the egg beaters with the ms dash seasoning and again I threw it in the trash. It sucks! I don't know what to do because the stuff they tell me to eat does not appeal to me and I get nauseous thinking about them. It's definitely been more of a struggle for me then I thought it would be. I had a minnie break down today and just cried. I have been so tempted to eat solid food, but I know the dangers, so I just sat in the shower and cried. It's definitely hard when the rest of your family can enjoy what they like and your just there by yourself not able to. As for pain now it's pretty much controlled by my pain meds except for the gas pain. The gas pain definitely sucks still, but I just been using the heating pad for it. My incisions are healing fine, it's just really the mental/emotional thing I'm struggling with. I also notice I have to brush my teeth constantly because I have a nasty taste in my mouth. Besides this long post I can say I'm taking it one day at a time trying to make it to the end lol. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

Thanks GR8. Ibuprofin for the first few days is actually a part of my recovery plan given to me by the clinic. I had my surgery done at NW Weightloss Surgery. So far I haven't had any stomach problems. I have been taking it after having drinkable yogurt and that seems to be working. I appreciate the feed back. Good luck with your first fill. Suzi

Enjoy!!! I had my surgery Dec. 7 and had 1/2 of a greek yogurt for christmas dinner. The good thing as that I wasn't hungry!!!! Wishing all the best in the new year!!!

Call your Dr's office this AM! Cheese is not always band friendly - It tends to glob and stick. Have you tried broth or perhaps yogurt to get some protein in. Also remember that in this type of situation - a liquid protein shake might be a good idea.

Thanks for all the replies, I think I will call my surgeon tomorrow....Ive probably thrown up at least 20 times since last thursday. Yogurt and Applesauce go down sometimes it depends on when i try it. Ive tried everything i possibly can. I eat 2 bites and bam it comes back up. My surgeon has said when im at the right level i should be eating 1cup - 1 1/2 cups of food at a time....2 bites deff isnt that, not even 1/4 cup. My stomach hurts, I just hope i havent made my band slip, If i lose this band I lose the hope of ever being normal. Thanks again guys!! ~Hotpink~

I haven't had a problem at all with those soups they seem to go down really well.I haven't been a guts and have only had about 4 table spoons at any one time. They are tasty and any little bits that are a little thick I have just really quash in my mouth.Ski yogurts are good too.low fat .I tried Asain Soup sweet corn and chicken but that I thought isn't quiet right as the corn is still whole and a little tough. So give it a wide birth in your first week.Campbells is the brand I think fro the Asain soups very tasty most likely good for a couple of weeks time. At 3 days out the focus is on getting in all the Protein and Fluid. Your nutritionist should have given you list of foods you can eat at this stage. I was on full liquids and could add a tsp of nut butter or pureed fruit to my yogurt.

I've used a little tumeric and cumin in my plain yogurt & I've used the tumeric in my scrambled egg. I like both Indian and Middle Eastern flavors though.

18 days post op
Angel11 replied to LosingIsWinning's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m experiencing the same! My surgery was 09/21/17 on Thursday & I weighed myself this past Thursday (at 1 week post op) & I lost 10lbs. I go see my surgeon & dietitian for my post op appointment tomorrow. I just weighed myself an hour ago (in the evening & not right in the morning like I usually do) & weighed the same from 3 days ago. I’m allowed to eat creamed soups, yogurts, sugar free pudding, popsicles & protein shakes. I’m getting about 40oz only too. I’m a little down. Maybe this week will be better? Keep your chin up! We will succeed!! -
4 weeks out - what are you eating?
AlysonRR replied to abutterfly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you're past the healing stage, I'd skip the Soup and move on to solid foods. My typical day looks like this: Breakfast: scrambled eggs or small eggbeaters omelet with a little cheese and vegies or Kashi (protein fortified) oatmeal Lunch: deli meat, lettuce or spinach, grated carrots, a little lite mayo, and maybe a little cheese on a sandwich made of Mountain bread (a flatbread, thinner than a tortilla, that doesn't cause me problems) Dinner: salmon or other meat with cooked vegetables or Kashi Golean mixed with greek (high protein) yogurt and a little honey Snack if necessary: yogurt or an ounce of cheese or a piece of deli meat I figure it's good practice to mostly eat the solid Protein that will help me stay full when I reach ideal restriction, so I stay away from soup and Protein drinks and try to make more solid choices. You can make a small pizza using mini pita bread or a small tortilla as a crust, if that's what you want to eat :-) Pita, sauce, sauteed vegies, sausage or pepperoni (I use the vegetarian versions), an ounce of mozzarella. Yum :-) Maybe instead of thinking about a cup, think about 8 ounces? My nutritionist's suggestion was to try to stay within 4-6 oz per meal, with half of that made up of protein and the rest vegies and complex carbohydrates. Hope that helps - you've made great progress so far - congrats, and keep up the good work :-) -
I finally have some restriction!!!!!! I went for my fill today and I now have 12.5cc in my 14cc band. My dr did it under floro and at first put in 1cc then I drank the stuff and it flew down, so he put another 2cc in. I have eaten really light today (yogurt, and mushie type stuff), but I think I feel tight. It feels almost like a knot in my stomach, but its in the upper part of my stomach. Is that what tightness feels like? Hopefully this will knock my numbers off the scale. My dh had his first fill today too, he had 2cc put in during surgery, and the dr said that he could only put in 3cc today, because the fluid was getting stuck. It's crazy the fluctuation in fills, I can't believe its taking me 12.5cc to feel anything!!!

Wow! What a difference! Day 1 2 and 3 were painful and horrible. Finally today I'm feeling 1000x better!! I was able to eat 6 Oz protein broth and 2 TBS Greek yogurt + a bit of water. I'm down 20 pounds since my pre-op liquid diet. Going back to work Monday and feel like I can handle it. Whew. I was miserable for a few days. Good luck all!

Call your nutritionist and discuss alternatives. Greek yogurt is a high source of Protein, smashed Beans or refried beans may also be acceptable if you thin them out with a bit of broth. Just call the nutritionist and brain storm. That's what you paid them for.

What can I eat two weeks post op?
Sleeve_Me_Alone replied to fatiima86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most surgery centers provide a detailed meal plan, I would suggest using that as your guide. Its always best to follow your surgeon's recommendations, if you can. If you still feel like you need more info, reach out to their dietician for help. But most puree stage diets include things like strained soups (tomato, butternut squash, etc.), yogurt, refried beans (probably need to be thinned out a bit), applesauce, very thin masked potatoes, etc. Things that you can easily swallow, do not have chunks of any kind, and do not require any chewing. -
About three weeks out I got very inexplicably moody. It really didn't bother me that people around me could eat normally - it just bothered me that I couldn't and I was afraid I would never be able to enjoy even the basics ever ever again I'd sometimes just sit at the table & start crying halfway through my tiny 1/4 cup of yogurt. At that point, I had a lot of nausea and trouble with a bunch of foods - but it was temporary and now at 5 months, I can really eat anything with no issues. But it was more than that. When you go through a major surgery like we have, your body's hormones get all out of whack for a bit. Understanding that helped me keep things in perspective. You also are eating a LOT less calories so fatigue might also be a factor in the emotions. I am sure your doc will check all your blood work & Vitamin levels at your appointment to see if anything needs to be adjusted. Hang in there - this is just a little blip in the road and things will get better very soon!

I haven't had surgery yet, but I have had to follow a high protien diet for the last 3 months to be approved. I like Fage Greek yogurt, the passion fruit is my fav or strawberry. Also premier protein shake- Carmel flavor with some cold brew coffee, taste like a latte! I have also made these little breakfast muffin things, by putting a slice or two of deli ham in a muffin cup and pouring raw scrambled egg on top and a touch of cheddar. Bake for like 10 mins and store in fridge, then I reheat them in the morning for breakfast and I think they are like a carb free breakfast sandwich. Sorry I know it still has egg, but at least it's got other yummy stuff too!

I still don't like the gym much but I love to walk and I don't own a car so I walk every where. That's just how it is in the NYC area. I would go to train stops far from my destination just to walk more. I just have to be in the mood to hit the treadmill. But I am addicted to protein shakes, pb2, and Greek yogurt.

Well, I guess I deserved it!

Sugar alcohols are very common in "sugar free" sweets and they are extremely hard on the digestive system for anyone, let alone someone with a tiny, traumatized stomach. You learned a good lesson -- sweet food, even fake sweet food, should not be what you are trying to justify to yourself right now! Just put it off the menu of possibilities entirely for right now. To make yourself maybe feel a little better, read the critical reviews on Amazon for sugar free gummy bears (which contain sugar alcohols, like most sugar free yogurt). You are not alone in your suffering! https://www.amazon.com/Haribo-Sugar-Free-Gummy-Bears/product-reviews/B008JELLCA/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_viewpnt_rgt?filterByStar=critical&pageNumber=1
