  1. Good morning girlies! Kinsey and I just finished Breakfast, 3 pieces of bacon and an egg. I lost teh damned 1/2 pound that I complained would not budge, so I am going to continue to try this, I will take 1/2 pound at a time if that is how it is going to be now!!! Lets see NSV's have been plentiful this week! I volunteered for this rodeo when it was here last which was 4 years ago, and 6 years ago. Many of the vendors, and several families are the same (younger siblings), they have been jaw drop shocked a few times. It always makes me have a high/low emotional response. I am happy they think I look better now, but their shock makes me realize what a horror I must have been then! Anyway---- I am back on a horse for this rodeo, I have even run the barrels just for old times sake--- I played volleyball, and did not feel the least bit self concious --like Tracy's bathing suit! I have willingly posed for pics with some of the kids. I tried on and bought clothes at the trade shows. I wore a vest! I would never before, because the belly hanging under it was disgusting! I can see my own belt buckle! It has been an exhausting week, but I am able to keep up! I can load my own horse, do my own "work" Rick is not prepping everything for me this time around. I actually caught a couple of young (17) guys checking out my cleavage! Oh yeah they check out ANY cleavage!!! But 4 years ago, they would not have looked past the extra weight to even realize I had boobs! I danced with the program director, and was not overly stressed by it----although like the boys above 4 years ago, I totally believe he would never have ask! I mean there are 800 volunteers---so it would not have been any big deal to skipped over me! Like I say this has been an eye opening week, at how much more I can and DO do. (yep I said doo doo!!) I feel humbled at the enormity of change in my life. I include the discovery of such good friends in those changes. You have made a huge difference in this happening! Laura, I am sorry you are going through this with your sister---I know back when my brother was drinking, it was really hard. Not just to watch what he was doing to himself, but what his problems did to our parents, they just wilted with stress and worry, and fear for his life and hoping he did not kill someone else in the spiral down. Nothing seemed to help. Finally he sobered up, and has been sober now for almost 10 years. Hope your sister can do as well. Rick's field crew had problems last night and called him no less than 8 times, led to a rough nights sleep---for both of us! Well I am going to go to the store and restock Abbey's bedside basket, and then head to the fairgrounds. The morning show begins at 9---but some of the rodeo events Kinsey HATES! Goat tying, calf roping, she actually cried over them! So I plan to hit it for the barrel racing, pole bending, and bronc riding----so I better get my butt in gear!! Talk to y'all this afternoon. More basketball, so I am free!!! Also a family small bore rifle competition--------not involved there either!!! Kat

Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Ok then, Tracy, I WILL go to the gym on Friday! Just watch me! I can't today because after work I have to go to the hospital. I've been there every night this week after long long days at work. I'm off tomorrow and will roll out of bed and straight to the gym. I'll do it again on Saturday, too. So there. NSV today? DH complimented me very nicely.

    Me, jogging? NSV

Today I have celebrated my first exercise NSV. I have had to ride the bike before the surgery due to pain in my knees, back, and feet. After a class at the gym, I decided to get on a treadmill. I only did 15 minutes, but 5 minutes of it was jogging at 4.5 mph...the other 10 minutes I walked at 3.5 mph or more. I think I might want to become a jogger/runner...I think that will be a new goal...not weight related, but exercise related. Holy crap, did I just say that?

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

I love to read this thread, but had nothing to add, but today I have 3 NSVs!:frown: People who don't know about the surgery have commented on my weight loss. That feels very good! I got a poem written for me by a young male student the other day! I was flattered, but of course said " not on your life" but it was flattering (I teach at a career college, so he was "legal") The final NCV is that I got a promotion at work today! I am now a "Master Insturctor" the great part was that is came with a 10% pay raise!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Wow....as usual, I am in awe of how well everyone is doing. 100 pounds in 7 months???? Unbelievable. You are all so inspiring to me. I had two victories today: finally, after 2 weeks of not moving, that blankety-blank scale went down a pound! I stayed with the low carb program, charting everything I ate on myplate.com, and thank goodness, it is working again. Hope that continues. Also, and probably a silly NSV to many, I was able to eat romaine! Now, before this process, I was a salad lover and had prepared myself psychologically to give up salads. I was brave today and ordered a chicken caesar without dressing and croutons. I ate about 1/4 of it, after I chopped it up with a knife (kind of like a cobb salad can be) and took tiny bites. Nothing ever tasted as good as that romaine lettuce did today! I have the rest in the fridge for another time (or two or three), and I am a happy woman. Now to lose the rest.... Nancy

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

NSV TIME!! Holy crap. I went into Walmart to get some new jeans (IMHO, better than any expensive jeans I have purchased). I started at a 26 and have been wearing some 24s as well. Walking around Chicago this weekend, it was apparent that I had to break down and buy some clothes. I bought a few things last week, but not jeans. Mostly comfy stuff, workout clothes, summery casual stuff. Anyway, for sh-ts and giggles, I picked up a pair of 20s along with the 22s. THEY FIT!!!! I am beside myself... the teens are on their way, baby!!

    Hi everyone

Trish - I grew up in the northeast Philadelphia area (Bensalem, Bucks County) I also have (had) PCOS. I had a hystercetomy 3 1/2 years ago. I thought that would help me lose weight especially since the doc took out the ovaries too. No luck with losing after the hysterectomy. Your NSV (non-scale victories) are sometimes the ones that we really need to depend on. You lost some major inches!!!! Just think, you probably could not have done that as easily before the band. Keep up the good work!!!

Doesn't it feel good! The scale doesn't matter because the NSV's mean more. I am going to Patriots Training Camp on Monday. Can't wait...we make an afternoon of it and get to see our guys up close instead of just on the TV. Can't believe Football season is here already...woohoo! Can't wait! Cindy
  11. Great NSV Leslie!! DH had a cousin visit today that lives near Atlanta and she just couldn't believe how much weight I have lost. It was nice to hear it from someone who had not seen me in such a long time.

    Twenties NSVs

SecretStolen and Kaninag those are great! I need to change my Facebook pic. My latest NSV is that I rode every Roller Coaster at Dorney Park last Saturday. I was so happy because I have never been able to ride everything there EVER! I used to be to fat for all but 2 coasters. On Saturday I rode with no worries, every buckle clicked and needed tightening. One coaster video tapes your ride, the Talon. My video tape was amazing. I looked so happy, just like I felt. It was pure joy. For the first time in a long time I am truly happy. I love my band. The Best NSV ever!

Loving my Band amanda
  15. Lotza ~ I am so sorry your flight home was crummy. I felt pretty bad on mine too; my DH had to stick the anti-nausea lozenge under my tongue at one point. I think part of it was that I'd gone too long with my pain meds too. GBear ~ Like I said elsewhere, please feel free to ask me anything. And of course there are far more experienced peeps here who can answer just about anything! While anesthesia and vicodin can make you constipated, I found that effect to be slightly delayed. I had loose stools at first (which makes sense if all you're taking in is water). Then in week two, I was constipated and it was not pleasant. However, some milk of magnesia soon made me better & now I take Benefiber. Amieru ~ I am sorry about the bummer bellydancing class -- I do bellydancing DVDs at home and would love to do a class sometime, so I hope that you post about your new class! Congrats on the NSVs -- doesn't it feel great to be able to fit into seats you know you wouldn't have before? I love the idea of Branson & want to go someday...if my DH can put up with it. :crying: Minidriver ~ If you get that new furry friend I sure hope that you put up a photo. Dee ~ You truly have a heart of gold, bless you for helping Bella and looking after her daughter. I can't imagine a fill of 0.05 doing a thing, but we are all different, right? Anyone heard from DynamoMini? It seems like she hasn't been around lately; must be that man in her life. I sure hope she's doing well! This morning I was down 1.5 pounds since the last time I weighed myself Thursday morning, so I'm pretty damn pleased with fill #4. I have that distinctive feeling of the liquids slowing going through when I'm drinking, and I'm eating much less. Now to sustain the momentum! I did a new video, a cardio yoga one, yesterday morning and amazed myself because I was able to keep up with the pace. DH cheered me on and I cracked him up by swearing at the instructor (which is typical for me). :frown:
  16. I had a great NSV on Friday. I went to my dreaded annual girly doctor appointment...urgh! Anyway the doctor came in and the first thing that came out of his mouth was, "Leslie, you've lost a ton of weight". Then asked how I did it. I told him and he took it great. He had some questions about my band and port (mainly when I'd have it taken out). I told him for the life of my band. That surprised him. Then he asked about fills and adjustments. He didn't have anything negative to say. He kept telling me how great I looked and to keep up the good work. After the bad part (pap), I couldn't quit grinning like an idiot when I left.
  17. Hey girls I am home, safe and sound. Was a great weekend. Rally was a blast, good, safe riding, concerts were great (a Van Zandt ---formerly of Lynrd Skynrd on Friday, and Foghat on Sat) were loud and lotsa fun. We left waaaaaay early this morning, so I could get back to do my part in the stock check in, then they could have done it without me. Many times through this, I work really hard, and am left feeling that way, that what I am doing does not matter, that it would be just the same without me. I don't want the thanks that isn't it, I feel superfluous just being there.....hard to explain. Anyway I am done for the day. There is a second stage NHSFR Queen pageant tonight, I skipped out. All the sun and going, and I am totally and completely exhausted. Am off to bed in a minute. Terry, my Grandma was the same way---she smoked in her hospital bed.....no real cigarette, but she mimed it, EXACTLY like she smoked, and the look of peace as she took the first drag was amazing! And she saw "boys" coming home from the war without their legs, and chastised me all the time for staring! Then she showed me the proper way to mix a cake!!! Another day she was out of bed stomping the snakes----which were actually her IV tubes and the phone cord. I so understand where you are, we told Grandma many times we loved her, but if it was time to go be with Grandpa we would be ok---but she did it on her own time.....typical Grandma. I miss her every single day! Hugs to you! Will try to do personals tomorrow, I am off to bed. Will tell you of Rick's tattoo experiences, and seeing the Dallas Cowboys---and all my new NSV's tomorrow. Worst thing about the rally (barring the sand storm.....) was being without contact with you guys!!! I called the kids, and I almost called one of you just to check that all was ok. I am addicted without a doubt!!! Kat

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Long - Congrats on wearing the 5 yr old clothes - that's a Great NSV!!! I want to see Mama Mia too.. Enjoy your show., PJ - you would really have to ck with them but I bet it means 50 grms max - 1 oz protein = 7 grms protein... But double check with them - As for breakfast - you can have meat - it doesn't have to be breakfast foods - yogurt/furit - meat & veggie omeltte - I will have meat for breakfast some days - I don't like sweets in the morning too much - tuna salad chicken salads (make with lite mayo or fat free - I prefer lite) I did shake breakfast & lunch - had salmon and veggies or salad for dinner.. Charlene I hear you girl - When I start eating watch out just want to keep eating that band helps some - but I would say most of the work is up to me cuz I could eat slider food - but I really try and stay away from them... Food channel - fat chick's best freind - skinny's chick worse enemy... I have been watching the food channel when it first hit the air here in the desert about 17 yrs ago... I found watch it made me want to eat 24/7 so I quit watching it all the time like I use to way before I got banded - but emril - paula dean are my fav's pork fat & butter - uhm I miss it ...

This has to be my most favorite thread on Lapband! I have smiled at each one of your achievments. Well done everyone. I am still very much in the early stages of my weight loss but I have 3 NSV´s that I am proud of so far. 1. I can wear both my wedding band and engagement ring on my finger. Before I could barely wear the ring. (Although my "real" wedding ring is waiting patiently for me to get smaller so I can wear the real diamonds again. 2. I bought a pair of 3/4 jeans a few months ago and the waist was so tight I couldn´t do up the zip. They now fit and look so good, my DH was checking out my a$$ yesterday and loving the way it looked. 3. Another pair of jeans that I bought, I could fit into them but they were so uncomfortable that I didn´t wear them. They are now lose fitting. I love these little achievements.

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

I had a NSV today! Hubby and I enjoy geocaching (Google it) and my weight and arthritis in my knees keep me from walking as fast as other geocachers. I also don't want to do too many...I get tired and sore! Well, today...even in the hot Texas heat. We found 16 in all. Not just get out of your car and there they are ones. Some required some walking, bending and reaching! I was NOT limping, and I was walking as fast as my 6'1" tall husband! I'm so pumped that I'm going on a girl geocacher road trip to Austin tomorrow and we have 450 caches loaded up! My goal is to do 150-200 before we return on Monday! PS....I'm even going to take my swimsuit since the hotel has an indoor pool and hot tub!

Way to go! I love NSV's like that! I was so excited that I painted my own toenails last week that I took a picture of them! I've been wearing flip flops since then.
