GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +
Jayda replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
Hey 👋🏾 Hw: 344 Sw: 341(2-13-19) Cw: 328 (5 days post op) I’m super excited to be on this journey , any surgery twins ? 😊 -
Well we'll its Me, lttler by the day ME. For those who have been following me it's 5 months 2 c weeks into this cheap poorly-written soup Opera of my post- surgery life. 2 and a half months since Catheterine Jo my PICC line catheter became steady company with each, other. Actual Surgery was September 5th 2018, PICC LINE insertion November 29 2018, started 24 hours a day because I had depleted my Protein stores, was accidently starving myself with malnourishment, and since I had gone to Surgery Date with a BMI in the mid/high 40s, outside world would not have noticed the state I was in. My body was at the point of stealing protein from other body portions to sustain itself. And where was its next potential target? Yep the Cardiac Muscle, already had a potential "time bomb" in my chest called a thoracic aorta aneurysm, if my poor poor beleagured ❤ started whimpering and flailing around, what could the Final Outcome? Do you all stock high heels, a black outfit and a hat with a veil? Went from from 24 hours, to 14 to 12 and this coming week,on February 19/ 20th I am to go to 2 ounces of mushy as possible, if not mooshy mushy I am to chomp it to a gray gelatinous mass before attempting,to ingest it. Now Titus was just a weanling pup when all this started, 7ncle Alfie has him out in the fields and woods, cause now That Dog Is big enough,to Hunt . Now I am a little excited, a little apprehensive, I have now been given Bariatric Permission to re Enter the the Land of the Chewing. And I get a picture of my 4 Bariatric Foremothers sitting and perhaps stifling a giggle behind their Weight reduced hands. Fluffy Chix, Green Tealael, Orchids and Dragons, Silly Kitty. You see folks , since 2 1/2- 3 weeks since my stomal structure and jejunal ulcers reared their ugly little heads I have been permanently, parked in Liquid-Land where all my Exs are not in Texas , they are with my currents in Liquid-Land where everything has the consistency of damaged Rainwater. So my little glass scale is waiting, my baby 2 oz cups, some wax paper to put under meats, my itty- bitty spoons which in the silverware drawer in a zip lock bag. And although the would prefer meats I can have 2 mini meals of smooshed up carrots or other soft veggies. No Virginia mashed potato is not a veggie, 9h I did ask. So at this point 2 oz every 3 hours during waking hours, they will mini- evaluate last of March, my TPN decreases in size of bag and calorie level and timing , I got to go 10 hours instead. See for over 2 months I have lived on TPN and Bariatric Vitamins. Wonder if there is a Saint dedicated to diatetics, Orchids and Dragons will know such things, if not it gives her an opportunity to go to Mid-week Mass to ask Father on my behalf. So everybody think positively for your Frustr8, I haven't had THIS CHANCE for months!😝🍮🍳🍏🍒🍍

The Truth about Weight Loss Agents...
dabbadoo00 replied to anonymousfact's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
While I appreciate everyones comments, just to add my own experience in ... I had my first surgery with Dr Almanza in 2015 and everything was fine. My incisions did not get infected nor did I have any other complications. I just had surgery again 1/17/19 and, so far, everything is good. My incisions even look better than before. I have no signs of infection nor any other complications. I do feel for the people who had bad experiences but mine were great. -
Good news and Meh news...
Meh: so I think I experienced/am experiencing my first stall-ish since surgery and now I get how frustrating it can be! So annoying to wake up every morning to watch the scale report a gain or loss of the same 1.5 pounds for over 2 weeks. *sigh*. Some say put the scale away, but I log my weight every morning to get a daily moving average of my weight. So long as this moving average is not heading upwards (which it isn’t and hasn’t since post-op) then I am good with my curent “minimalist” weekly weight loss rate, however small I think it is 🙄.
However.
The Good news:
To allow for some self back patting, and to remind myself of the bigger picture, I set a bunch of interim goals/milestones... a few of which are 10lbs increment weight loss goals:
So this morning, after hovering within 1.5 pounds of an interim goal for over 2 weeks, I weighed in at 164.8, and officially lost 70 lbs! In 4 months. That is 30% of my starting body weight. Or the equivalent of my 10 year old neice. How crazy is that.
Next Goal: weigh in at 162lbs to be merely overweight (and not obese!)

Starting over with the Sleeve

Thank you so much. I'm about 10 days in and so far so good. Good luck on your journey too! -
10 days post op. I'm down 13 pounds. I can't do three 2 oz food servings and three shakes in a day yet but I'm able to get my 48-64 oz of liquid and some food in. I just make sure that I'm getting at least 70 grams of protein between my food and liquids.

If you feel you're going to be wetting yourself still move on to reward slowly but bravely. It is far better to leave smal droplets than than to stand frozen and immobile in a puddle of pee signed S. W. W. ( sadder, wiser , wetter) February 2019💦😥💦

How many grams of sugar is too much sugar?
Diana_in_Philly replied to Tejee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My personal rule, 2.5 years out, is no more than 10 g of sugar, unless its at breakfast, 15g. (All bets are off if the sugar is from fruit - I'm talking about processed sugar.) -
Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

Did anyone have just Tramadol for pain after surgery? I've got to get my gallbladder out in about 10 days (the day after my 1-yr surgiversary for sleeve) and the dr. seems pretty adamant that he doesn't want to prescribe oxycodone, which is what I had for my 2 weight-loss surgeries. This has me pretty nervous. I'm not shopping for pain meds, the only 2 times I've had a prescription for oxycodone was my other surgeries, so I don't know why he's so nervous about it. He's willing to prescribe hydrocodone, but I can't take it. Any advice is welcome! -

How’d you Choose? Sleeve v.s. Bypass?
Briswife15 replied to NotActive1234's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor wouldn't do the sleeve on me because I have reflux disease not well controlled by meds. He said the sleeve would make the reflux worse. In addition, i preferred the bypass because although it seems more drastic, i think for me it will be more effective. Having bypass 3/27/19. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Was there a pivotal moment that made you say I’m doing this?
Sheribear68 replied to Imnotpicky's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine was 2 events that happened within a couple weeks of each other. Back in 2009 I was diagnosed at the age of 40 with TNBC, which is automatically a stage 3 and is mandatory chemo. After a year of chemo and radiation (guess who actually managed to GAIN 40 pounds while on a year of chemo-yup, this girl) I decided that I was never again going to get cancer. I fought so dang hard for my life and knowing that the #1 risk factor for cancer is obesity, I vowed to lose weight. And I did. I spent the following 3 years running 10-15 miles/week, going to the gym, hiring a personal trainer, and religiously logging food and eating under 1600 calories/day. I lost 40 pounds in those 3 years. Then I got laid off of my job, had a a death in the family and loads of stress. Regained the 40 pounds in under 8 months. Fast-forward to January 2018. I went in for a mammogram and I had several enlarged lymph nodes, so my oncologist was convinced I had lymphoma. Also in January we had a family girls trip to universal Orlando and I fully had to sit out of half the rides because I couldn’t fit. Okay so I didn’t have lymphoma, but that scare along with the family trip convinced me something had to give. I still took many months talking to health care professionals and doing my homework and making sure I was truly ready to make this leap, but on 2/6 this year I was sleeved. Since then, I’m down 20 pounds. And down 35 overall from when I started. HW: 259 SW: 244 CW: 223 GW: 150 Height is 5’6.5 -
February 2019 Sleevers?
Sami Al Masri replied to Queenbee34's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery date is booked on February 24th 2019 ... starting to get excited mixed with other anxious feelings -
I am about 10 days out, feeling pretty good, able to tolerate fluids and protein. The only thing is I still have pain in right side. The doctor at post op visit said the one stitch is probably pulling and causing the pain. Anyone else experience this? Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Gastric Sleeve Surgery 2/20/2019
SWEETGRACE replied to emet1976's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m scheduled for February 20th 2019 in Tijuana. I had Lapband in 2009 then had it taken out in 2016. I started having severe panic attacks when it was time to eat. My kids were smaller then, and would climb on me while I was tryyto chew, chew, chew. You first instinct is to tell them to stop but AFTER you swallow. So I would swallow food to ask them to get off of me and would inevitably get something stuck. Then I’d be at the table 20 minutes later trying to finish my food. It was an awful cycle. I’m scared that because I failed the lapband that I might fail the sleeve. I know I have to do something tho. I’ve gained 100 pounds since taking the band out. I’m scared for my life. I know I can do the liquid diet part but I’m nervous about the regular food part. -
That was a rough time. The surgery went text book according to the surgeon but I woke up with the worst nausea. I was vomiting (air) for about 6 hours post op. They gave me several types of meds to help but told me the more I rest the better I'll feel. They kept me on medication for nausea and pain until about 10-11 the next day. Then I was able to get up and walk around. Did laps and then would fall back asleep. I'm so much better feeling today. Anyone who tries to say this is the "easy" way has lost their minds. [emoji36] definitely harder than I expected. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
