    December 8th Sleevers......

I can be cleared as soon as I can move bowels(sorry, TMI)...I haven't eaten nearly enough to have to go...
  2. A bit TMI but I can't wait to be able to look down & actually see the lady parts! And shaving my legs won't be as difficult either! ????
  3. Some stuff I've learned over the past few months. I thought you might like to know some possibly TMI issues. 1. The poop situation. During pre-op liquids and for at least a month after surgery, you'll have liquidy poops. Don't trust a toot. You won't poop for probably a week after your surgery. Go ahead and get some liquid stool softener (mag citrate). Lots of reasons for that. I know I didn't toot for 3 or 4 days. 2. The gas situation. Because these procedures are laparoscopic, you'll have a LOT of gas in your body. Not necessarily in your digestive system. You'll feel it in your chest, back, shoulders, even your teeth. Walk walk walk walk walk. Move your body as much as possible to get the gas moving. Ask for massages from your mama, husband, wife, whoever to help it move. I felt best with my arms forward on the couch and bent at the waist while my mom rubbed my back. I also used a ton of Deep Relief (Young Living oil blend) across my chest to help. 3. The sleep situation. I slept in a recliner for the first week. It was truly the most comfortable... and I slept with a pillow on my lap/belly in case I needed to get up. I couldnt sleep on my stomach for about 4 weeks. 4. The pain situation I didn't take pain meds after I got home from the hospital. Our pharmacy didn't fill it as liquid meds and I could not handle the crushing. Omg. That was horrible. I started feeling more normal as the steri-strips fell off. I helped them a lot because my skin was blistering from the adhesive - that part was horrible. 5. Energy. You have none until you start more solid foods. You aren't hungry but you are also working on minimal calories. 6. Emotions. Oh wow. Bring back the postpartum hormone changes. Around week 3 through maybe 6 I was weepy for no reason. It was very surprising and I thought I was losing it. Apparently, there are a lot of hormones stored in fat and as you lose, they are released... Which brings me to... 7. Hair loss. Around the 3rd month, hair loss starts. It doesn't matter what you do. Eat all your protein, take your vitamins, drink your water. Your hair will still fall out. Very much like after you have a baby. Praying for this to stop soon. It's not noticeable on my thick hair but a friend is really struggling with it. 8. Nosy people. After a short time, people start commenting on the way you look, begging for "how", asking rude questions like wanting specific numbers. What is wrong with people?! Get prepared with your answers or you'll end up telling people you didn't mean to tell. 9. Head hunger. You won't believe me till you experience it but you don't really feel all that hungry for a few months. You will want to eat at meal times but it won't be a lot. You will have trouble deciding what you want because you can't have much of it anyways. This does cause some emotional pain to me but I'm working through it. I'm breaking up with food. I still have habits I fight daily. Snacking at certain times of day and choice of snack are the worst. 10. Everything tastes a little different. After essentially cleansing your palate and system of junk food, sugar, processed crap for 4 weeks, food tastes different. Sweet things are suuuuper sweet especially you may find a love for a new food because it's protein content. I think that's all I'll throw out there for now... It is a lot to digest (pun intended) haha! Dumb, I know! If you've made it this far through my rambling then congrats!!

    Any December Sleever's?

VSG is slated for December 9th. 5 days into the liquid diet - and with the exception of nasty diarrhea (sorry TMI) - it's going OK, although I am hungry. Never in my life thouht I'd get passionate about how good beef broth tastes. LOL This is a life change for me, and a Quest to get very healthy and not lumber around like Jabba the Hut anymore.

    No Sex? WTF

I don't think so... Im a very good spotter of gay and Lesbian. In fact most of my closest friends are.... and he mentioned that the other day.... My personality is very outgoing, happy, free, funny, snippy, in your face, sarcastic and i tell the truth to a fault. if you want to know the truth... just ask... lol This part will prob. be TMI... But....many people here have said.... Be aggressive or direct..... I can get out of the shower walk naked in front of him and Nothing.... i sleep naked every night and nothing.... i can pleasure myself with him in the bed next to me and NOTHING... Sad part is.... I have men and woman hit on me daily and the one person i want to ...Wont.
  7. Not just explosive, but wet and with a light colored discharge. Came on yesterday after eating greek yogurt and some high protein granola mixed in. Been taking gas x but so far no help. Sorry if TMI, just worried about black age or Crohns!

    Post op counseling visit

Thanks everyone for feedback! I have been open with everyone in my life about my surgery and knew it would change things but it has been such drastic weight loss. I want myself, and my husband and I as team to be successful long term. Maybe two much tmi but I want us to connect again like we did before we gained the weight, and became ashamed by our weight which affected our relationship.
  9. I just laughed out loud! You and your ass really need to start getting along! Although I admit... me and my ass have not discussed a schedule of evacuation or anything. I eat bran buds, I take stool softeners, I take fibre pills, I occasionally use suppositories and I toot, but actual evacuation of ???? rarely happens. Where in the hell does it go?!?!?! I am forever full of poo! Sorry, TMI. I never have diarrhea, it's always the opposite! I go a week without having a BM and then the suppositories have to be brought out. I should look into this MOM stuff. Clearly we (me and my bum) need to have some MOM our lives.
  10. Today is 6 days since my surgery. I've been home for 2 days after some complications in the hospital. Each day I feel a little better. But I still have some gas that I cannot get out. It travels into my ribs and backs and can be so painful. Sorry if that is TMI. If anyone has any pointers to getting rid of it I would be very appreciative. I have also been taking my meds the doctor sent home. But one pill (Carafate) is pretty large and it HURTS going down. Then I get nauseous quickly after taking it. I'm going to call the doctor and see if they have it in liquid. But like I said before each day is better than the last so I'll keep praying that I recover quickly.
  11. Hey everyone. I was sleeved on Veteran's Day and have had a fairly blessed recovery for the most part. The only pain and issue am having now is an active c diff infection, which I assume arose as a result of my post surgery IV antibiotics. For those of you who do not know what c diff is...this an intestinal bacteria is carried around by some people...I was a cna for years so I probably picked it up there despite following universal precautions. It is a very stubborn spore bacteria that can live on surfaces for a long time and can only be killed with bleach. Normally the good bacteria in the gut keep it at bay but antibiotics can kill all the good bacteria and this awful bug can take over.it gives bowel movement an awful, very distinct smell. It makes for frequent diarrhea and the toxins given off irritate thw colon...it can get very severe if untreated. This is what I have gathered from googling...so if there are any healt professionals out there that need to correct me feel free:) Anyway, I had c diff once a couple years ago after 3 weeks of clindamyacin from a bad tooth..and it was bad...there was so much irritation that I guess it pressed on my nerves and my legs would go numb every time I had and episode of cramping from it. I was constantly running to the bathroom and the pain was horrible. I couldn't sleep or eat. It took over a month for me to get ot under control and when I thought it was leaving me it would seem to relapse. When I started eating brown rice it seemed to soak it up and get it out of there...I started taking Probiotics and eating yogurt to get things straight again. This time I started out with a swollen abdomen. I had just figured out that I became lactose intolerant from my sleeve and the gas left but the swelling didn't. When I smelled the smell I knew! Yuck! Thank God I had my post op around then and started flagyl and probiotics right away. I am on my 2nd day of flagyl (which ironically is an antibiotic). I only wish I had been on probiotics since before the surgery. I really should have known better! I also battled thrush before the c diff showed up..blech! As awful as all this sounds I don't feel horrible....just very very uncomfortable:( Emotionally I feel the best I have since surgery...I am back to work, though very very part time..and I still have an appetite. Its uncomfortable because my poor swollen colon (lol) is pressing my tiny stomach and its even harder to get food in now...though I am still being vigilant about getting in fluids and protien. Flagyl is a yucky antibiotic...I can feel the irritation building up in my still healing sleeve:( It makes me a bit queasy at times but I have heard worst horror srories about these meds so I still consider myself blessed! Its very strange watching my weight come down as my jeans get tighter! I am not having bad diarhea episodes now...but I believe all the swelling has my poop stuck! Very litle has happened at that end for 2 days. Ok let me get to my point..anyone else out there going through or have gone through this? What helped? Outnof despiration I started eating small amounts of brown rice (chewed to death) before I was really supposed to..thank God it went down!..it has yet to come out! I also read that protien hinders the process..so I am going to try eating a bit of oatmean and unsweetwned apple sauce and drop down a little on protien shakes for a couple days. I also have been having smooth move tea every other day through this and prune juice on the opposite days. I think I need to have a diet that moves things along but not hard on my sleeve..any ideas out there? This is a very crazy thing to deal with at this stage of the game and I want it nipped in the bud! I know it will take time. Prayers and suggestions are welcome and I hope this may have educated someone and I hope I didn't scare anybody. Probiotics are important!!!

    November Sleevers

It's been awhile since I posted here but here my story, I was sleeved on 11/19 the day of surgery I slept most of the day but my tummy was hungry like crazy, every time I got up to use the bathroom I was dry heaving and vomiting until I got zofran utu my tummy still wasn't having that it wanted food. I was nothing by mouth until the next day, I couldn't even have ice chips. The next day I was given pain meds which I barely had any pain and nausea medicine before going home I was given my BP meds and protonix. I had to drink 30mL of Water every hour until lunch came. I had broth. Gelotein decaf tea and some Protein but I only responded to the Gelotein. So it seems like I was find holding down everything but my tummy was still demanding something else to eat. I walked the halls and then was released home. Once home I was still hungry and drinking 30mL every hour, drink broth and I continue to dry heave and brink up what my tummy didn't like. It went on like this for another day. Yesterday I was able to do full liquids, the first day I tried pudding it shut up for a minute and I was cool the second day it rejected it. Yesterday I tried baby food that I can have as long as it was cooked and thin liquid form. Well let me tell you how I ate the whole bottle over a period of time. My tummy gets hungry every 4 hours. So my last scoop my stomach was not happy with, I thought it was gas pains so I figured I would walk it off in walmart Wrong! !, it continue to hurt. So when I got home a did a gas x strip didn't help so I did some mirlax because now I feel constipated tmi still nothing in return but a sore hungry tummy and dry mouth. I am to scared to eat so I continue to do my ice chips and went to be miserable. This morning I was awaken by really bad heartburn and dry mouth, so I am sitting at my table at 4:30am eating sf Jello and drinking Powerade zero. Is anyone able to drink a lot more liquids at one time inside of sipping? Sorry about the long post.

    Women monthly cycle

Mine skipped a month and then become irregular (6 weeks between). And... the duration pre surgery was 3-4 days and after surgery 8-9 days. So much I needed to take Iron supplement during the period. Now I am 8 months out and pretty much back to normal. 30 days between (this is my normal) and 4-5 days duration (much closer to 3-4). But the big difference - the amount..... and when I say amount.... I mean tampons were not working... needed tampon and pads every 1-2 hours. Sorry - I know TMI!!! but you asked
  14. Did anyone else have their period on the day of surgery? I'm usually right on schedule, and should have it the day of surgery. Were you able to wear a tampon?
  15. Yes, I'm thinking so though not sure to what. I have some flax seed I think I'll have to try it and see if it helps. Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't a constant feeling in my bumm of needing to go. .. I know TMI sorry lol

    October List of Surgery's

hello every one!!! Just posting a small update. Everything is going well so far, ran into TMI HORRIBLE constipation this past week. got that sorted. Was feeling awful because of it and so i let my journal laps and i need to get back on top of that to make sure i am getting in everything i need to get it. i think i am doing good with my water though i have a pink 8 oz. cup i brought home from the hospital, its cheap and plastic and i love it, and i drink several of those through out the day. Still working on my protein of course but now that i can eat again i think it should be a bit easier to track that as well. Aside from all that i have FINALLY broke my stall and started losing again. The scale stayed still for almost 2 weeks which of course as many of you know is beyond frustrating. SOO that's where i am right now.
  17. I just ate the jello... lucky u that u had crystal light i had a tea and horrible chicken broth. Is it normal that im not feeling nauseous at all. I keep hearing everyone is nauseous but im not feeling it. Sorry if this is tmi but has anyone pooped ok? My stomach is just moaning but still no bowel movement...
  18. I had to do 2 weeks Pre-Op diet of mostly liquids and staying below 500-700 calories each day. Yesterday and today I have had to be on clear liquids, sop that only gets me to around 80 calories each day since I can't have sugar, carbs, fat, etc. Tonight I get to do the awesome cleanse (TMI I know as well), but not sure what it will accomplish since I haven't had anything but liquids. lol.
  19. Surprisingly no i didn't. I thought I'd have to so i bought some. Was told this time no food for two days, clear liquids only before surgery. That alone had me *going* look tmi i know but it's true.
  20. No, in fact it has been the opposite for me. I only go every other day now and sometimes I need to use miralax for constipation. TMI sorry????

    Preparation before Surgery

I'm still pre op until Monday. I'm on a 10 day liquid diet. Yesterday I pretty much gagged and cried while getting my protein shakes down. Today I've thrown both up. Sorry if that's tmi. Broth doesn't make me full and my unflavored protein isn't here yet. I live in a very rural small town. What did you guys do when you were on your pre op diet? Advice would be so appreciated!
