Any Long Island Ny Vsg Buddies?
emily_0192010 replied to wabbitninja's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey Dee I'm not in Long Island, but I'm close. I'm in Brooklyn, so only a train ride away! I'm sorry to hear that you are in a stall HOWEVER, you are what, 3 weeks out??? Guess what? That is the dreaded 3 week stall that pretty much EVERYONE goes through! It is just your body going on pause to sort through everything that is going on. You are doing great so far! As for the rash, I am definitely not a doctor, but is it around your incisions and the tape? I had a reaction to the tape. That wouldn't explain your back though. Just call your surgeon's office and ask. I had to do that for a few things and they are always very nice and understanding about everything. If you want to meet up one day, just pm me and maybe I can help some more in person ((hugs)) You are doing great, keep up the amazing work and don't worry about the stall! -
I am 6 weeks post op and experiencing the same thing. I saw my dr a few days ago and was told that as long as I get my protein and fluids in, I am doing fine. they said that some people take a little longer for the swelling to go down so there is no concern at this point. you most likely are experiencing the dreaded 3 week stall. Stick to your program and it will break. hang in there!

This is definitely an emotional ride. Now that I've vented, I am hearing more about the 3 week stall. If nothing happens this week, I'm trying a wild weekend . Thanks for sharing your experience!!

Need your hair loss experiences
Tiffykins replied to 2bslimkim's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
At the top right hand corner, you will see a little box with a magnifying glass off to the side. If you'll type in "hair loss", it will pull up every thread/topic that discussing hair loss and you can read many people's experiences. A lot of have repeated the same post. I do it because I know it's nice to hear, but if you want to get a lot of veterans and people that don't post anymore, I suggest using the search feature. There's tons of Hair loss topics on the forum. It's the most popular discussion next to gas, poops, and how terribly miserable the 3 week stall is for post-opers. -
4 weeks post op and did not loose thus week
Arts137 replied to Sleeved Pat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It happens to EVERYONE! Seach the "3 week stall". SUPER common as things heal and get 'organized'. This too shall pass (and you might want to skip weighing yourself every day... if you are) -
how long does a stall typically last?
Butterthebean replied to kc5077's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's different for everybody. But take heart, cause when it breaks the scale will plummet. Check out the link in my sig...it has some good info about stalls. The 3 week stall is one you really can't do much about but wait it out. But that's okay. Just be patient and it will move. -
Sounds like the dreaded 3 week stall people talk about here. I've been dealing with stalls almost every week since my two-week preop diet. Everyone seems to have a different way to break them. This might be useful: Weight Loss Stall or Plateau Explained

Water retention? 3 week stall a little early? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
With all due respect, no. Just...no. Gaining weight this early out is COMPLETELY normal. It's not possible to gain 6 pounds of fat by overeating as early out as she is. You could be eating McDonald's shakes at this stage with chocolate chip Cookies and still lose weight. You are dead wrong. It's part of the 3 week stall. She is just one of the lucky ones that gains while the body adjusts. She will start losing weight again once it passes. You just stay the course and let your body do its thing. Don't get discouraged! You're doing great! i completely disagree with your statements. You are entitled to your opinion but the surgery itself does not cause fat to melt. It's the severe restriction of calories. The truth is the scale doesn't lie but we can lie to ourselves. It takes like 3,000 extra calories to gain a pound (not including Water weight). So if someone is gaining weight they must be sneaking in extra calories and most likely through carbs. The poster in question has admitted she is a vegan and on top of that is not even able to eat vegan Protein. So I'm guessing her diet is mostly carbs at this stage. These are my opinions, of course, take them or leave them as anyone seems fit.

These are my opinions, of course, take them or leave them as anyone seems fit. The flaw in your logic is that you aren't accounting for water weight. We are advised to drink a minimum of 64 oz. of water a day. That's four POUNDS of water a day. Retaining any amount of that can cause large fluctuations on the scale that have nothing to do with calories or gaining fat. To gain 6 pounds of actual fat, the original poster would have had to ingest 21000 EXCESS calories in 4 days (PS: it takes 3500 excess calories to gain a pound, not 3000 as you said in your post). That's an average of over 5200 EXTRA calories a day at only a week post op. I don't know about you, but I was struggling to get in over 400 calories a day at 7 days post-op. There is no way the original poster is physically capable of consuming something like 7000 calories a day this early out. Unless she's hooked up to a milk shake IV or something. This is clearly her body responding to the trauma of surgery and retaining water.

My 3 week stall lasted 10 days. But during it I noticed changes in the appearance of my body. (Parts shrinking). This week I started off with a 3 pound weight loss, and another one today, so 4 pounds this week. Hang in there, you are doing great!! It will happen.... I'm a believer now. Lisa

Not quite 2 weeks post-op and stalled?!
Rizzle01 replied to kndoster's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am glad I found this forum. I also hit the infamous 3 week stall right around week 3 lol. I am going on week 4 and the lbs are starting to fall off again but not near as fast as before. Now that I know this is normal I am not as concerned. Thank you all! -
I am 100% along with you all…3 weeks stall over here too. My surgery date was January 22. I’m trying to do some positive self-talk. As my husband always tells me…be kind to my wife.

3 week stall
BLERDgirl replied to 2NewBeginningsxoxo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Mgenovesejr -The 3 week stall is not uncommon. If you do a search on it, loads of post will come up. I think they tend to happen more frequently with the less you have to lose. I started at a pretty high BMI so I've never personally experienced one. However I also only weigh myself monthly or when I go to the doctor's, whichever comes first. Every time I have set foot on a scale I have seen a loss of some sort. It is entirely possible that because I only weigh monthly I may have experienced a stall and missed it. -
Lower starting BMI and weightloss
bostonmama replied to RJrocks's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just had my surgery on Oct 5th, but I was was around 37 BMI on the day of surgery. I lost about 30 lbs from the start of my pre op diet until 2 week post op. I've been in the infamous 3 week stall since then (16 days). -
First Stall - less than 2 weeks after surgery???
TakingABreak replied to nycgirl18's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I stalled less than 2 weeks after surgery as well. It's common to hear of the 3 week stall. I had lost so much pre op, 27lbs, that my body went into a immediate stall after my first week. I was loosing again by week 4. I think that increasing my calories when I went into soft foods and exercise helped break that stall. -
For the first 4 weeks I had many days where I regretted it. I was throwing up daily, it hurt to even drink & to add insult to injury I had a 3 week stall. I felt like I'd made the biggest mistake in my life......BUT I'm 6 weeks out now & these last 2 weeks have been soooo much better & the stall has ended & I'm down 40 lbs & feel so much better! I can't wait to see all the amazing things my future holds!!!

Frustrated...
Maddie replied to NadiaLinISgoing2beThin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 weeks out and still have water weight and swelling. So, I don't know your particular situation but I know we all lose at different rates. Also, I have heard of many folks hitting a 3 week stall. Wish I had something to offer as advice. Just hang in there and do what you know is right and it will kick in soon. -
I've seen people say increase liquids, protein, and calories to break the stall. I had the 3 week stall and broke it with the above plus exercise. And I don't cheat at all. Carbs are evil. Maybe go back to logging your food and see if there are hidden calories?
-
You are approaching the famous 3 week stall. Happens to everyone. The best advice I can offer is to stay off the scale. I only weighed like 3 times in the 1st month postop. Eating healthy and creating new habits are more important than the scale at this point. Just concentrate on AT LEAST 60g of protein, 64oz. water and your vitamins. I've never counted calories, so I can't help you with that silly "numbers game".

are you happy with the decision to have the sleeve procedure done, what has changed in your life and why you would do it again? Please rant.
sharonintx replied to sittingpretty64's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Everything already stated above is true. I didn't realize how much I relied on food. I knew I ate too much and I knew that I had an emotional attachment to food. It was where I ran for comfort.. After surgery it came to my attention that food had more control over my life than I realized. I'm only a little more than 3 weeks post op. It has been very hard to change my relationship with food and I've only just begun. The 1st 2 weeks were the worst. I had to give myself a good talking to and make myself accept that my affair with food is over. Permanently. That being said, I don't regret getting the sleeve for one minute. I'm having the dreaded 3 week stall right now. It's just ridiculous. But I know the scale will move again soon and I know that my new eating habits are in my best interest. If you do your homework and prepare yourself for the huge changes you are about to make, the sleeve is great. Just make sure your ready because there is no going back.
