I gave up my sugar free in 5th day post op
Redapples replied to Redapples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pureed stage will be yogurt, fish, chicken avocado etc.(that's on my plan) I will be able to have more than liquids. I have diet drinks that I will drink. Remember I'm only doing 8 oz of reg tea a day to help me. I was to weak I'm sure my team would have agreed with me instead of me passing out of low sugar I had to what I needed to do. I know this is not heard of doing this is my journey I'm not promoting to give into sugar just sharing my experiences. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app -

What to eat for my birthday, at 5 weeks out????
tiffnie replied to daezeey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HAPPY (almost) BIRTHDAY! How about some low fat or fat free, sugar free frozen yogurt? Or maybe you can freeze some SF chocolate pudding? Ive never tried it but it should work. Top it with some fat free cool whip if you want to get fancy Im sure you can find some healthy desert ideas online, bariatriceating.com or allrecipes.com, maybe even weightwatchers.com Good luck! -
There are several vegetarians on here. I get most of my Protein via a coffee shake, cheese, cottage cheese, and yogurt. Over time as my stomach expands, I expect to add more Beans to my diet. I do eat 2-3 oz of meat once or twice a day but it's not the biggest source of protein for me. Occasionally I have an egg but that only has 6 gms of protein and really fills me up. In contrast, 4 oz of cottage cheese has 12 gms and doesn't stuff me as full as an egg. Okay OP, I say this with love and caring for you. I agree with the previous poster who suggested talking to a therapist. I've seen several of your posts expressing regret, and the fact is, you've had an irreversible procedure. You can't change that, and you may need some help accepting your decision and moving forward. Post-op depression is common. Many of us have varying degrees of it, it's not a sign of weakness. More likely hormones and chemicals are out of whack somewhere. Be good to yourself and maybe see if you can find someone to talk to? Sending you hugs.

What do you eat on the 3rd week after surgery ?
TiredOfMyself replied to amber.bgoya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still on full liquids. Cottage cheese, cream soups, applesauce, I am so tired of it all. I hate yogurt and Protein shakes so I don't do them. -
I eat greek yogurt string cheese beans protein shakes vegetables, water snack bars And soup

Quest also has chips in several flavors that have 20 gm of Protein per bag. Other Snacks I use: the P3 portable protein pack from Oscar Mayer, hard boiled eggs, greek yogurt with cottage cheese to up the protein content and Jerky (pork, beef, turkey, buffalo). I also have cheese sticks of many different cheeses for a quick handy snack. As for Protein drinks I have found over the past 2 years several ways to "spice" up the bland vanilla flavored shake. I have added pumpkin puree and pumpkin spice to a vanilla shake to make pumpkin pie shakes, I make chai tea and add the tea to a vanilla shake to make a chai latte (yummy). Of course you can make a fruit smoothie or veggie smoothie with what ever fruit/veggie combo you like with the vanilla shake (or unflavored protein)

Shakes now upset my stomach. I wish i liked yogurt or cottage cheese but I can't eat either of them. I tried every brand and flavor.

Have To Have Gallbladder Surgery Next Week-Scared!
donna12 replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do have one concern, he took out 2cc's today so that I could have a tube down my throat during surgery, I'm so praying I don't gain any weight during this. One thing I'm craving and haven't been able to eat with almost 6cc's in is a 2" Subway turkey sub with all the veggies so I will indulge on that one for sure but other than that I will stick with one cup per meal and string chees and greek yogurt for my go to snacks if I get hungry in between meals. -
I know the word "Ice Cream" scares people but there are healthy options that one can have that is similar to ice cream at Trader Joe's made from Greek yogurt and artificial sweetener. I wasn't planning on going full on crazy and binge out on ice cream. I just wanted something different that won't be harsh on my stomach. I am not trying to sabotage myself thus why I went to a forum before even buying the ice cream. My doctor did say sugar free items are okay, just wanted to see if anyone else had tried it and felt better afterwards. I'm just going through the stages... I'm on my third day of full liquids and it's not easy finding things to keep sipping on. I'm sure you guys remember that time. Just looking for suggestions. There are a lot of people who really rely on jerky for Snacks. It's pretty salty, but other than that, it's a great snack. I snack on almonds, string cheese, and greek yogurt., I also love Oh Yeah peanut butter/choc Protein bars. They are like a kit kat. I only eat one stick at a time. People like to snack on hard boiled eggs, but I hate eggs.

GivingItMyAll replied to alwayshavefaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is awesome! I'm on 2 weeks of liquids (day 5) then on to 2 weeks of puréed. I'm thinking puréed Soups, not sure what else. Right now I have to purée and strain my soups. Oh, yeah, and I think I can add yogurt during the puréed phase. Sent from my iPad using VST -
My nutritionist sadly isn’t very good, shame really. Nothing about calories hydration, so reading these sites really help me. They did give me a packet I’ve sifted thru. So what’s the caloric intake per day.? I’m drinking 48 oz so far a day on day 6. I’m on strained soups and yogurt. Any help will be appreciative

I have tried Greek yogurt. I will myself to tolerate it but I just can't. Lol

My doc didn't want me worrying about Protein right after surgery. He was more concerned about Fluid intake. I went home on Clear liquids and super soft foods (cream of wheat, yogurt, Soup etc). At my 2 week post op appointment is when they started stressing increasing my protein. I didn't have much trouble with gas (try GasX - I heard that helps a lot of WLS patients), but I did not have a BM for quite a few days after surgery. I started adding Benefiber to drinks and broth to help - and it did! If you are concerned with anything post op - call your doc! That's what they are there for!! Hope you get some relief soon!

6 weeks post-op. Ready to go back to full liquids
StephanieS0208 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
**Disclaimer ** Tomorrow I am going to reach out to the dietician. I'm 6 weeks (almost 7) post-op and I can't eat much. Tuna sits like a ball and won't move much even following the chew lots, eat slowly, make sure it's not dry routine. Salmon makes me nauseous. I'm a pescetarian so my options for Protein are limited. I've tried Beans but they're high in sodium and carbs. I've tried a little tofu. It does OK but isn't much protein. Lately just about every meal has been 1 egg mixed with 2 oz fat-free greek yogurt with some dill relish and it's not boring yet. (This has all been approved per plan) I mean -- I know it gets better. Guess I'll just keep trying some different things. It's really hard to find a balance with high protein AND low carb AND low calories. And weirdly enough, Water fills me up quicker than anything and then makes me nauseous. My hair is going through a renaissance and I don't want to lose it. I'd like to get myself on the right track so I don't get low in Vitamins and nutrients. -
Top 5 Things You Did Or Should Have Done Prior To Surgery To Ensure Success.
elindoll88 replied to ladiJ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. Started practicing and mastering post op eating and drinking habits. Stopping Water before I eat and not drinking afterward is a breeze now. I'm on soft foods and eating the same things I ate pre op, so life feels like its back to normal. 2. Got a handle on my emotional eating and head hunger triggers. Pre op, I got used to seeing my students have cupcakes and not have one myself. It made eating with the family easier when I was having yogurt or baby food and they were having steak. I didn't eat the same food as everyone else and I survived. 3. I eliminated Snacks and eating out of boredom. Post op healing is really boring, but I'm full on my 3 meals a day. 4. This one will be controversial, but I had a food funeral. Wouldn't recommend this for everyone. I was well below goal, weeks away from surgery, and had been following my pre op diet (based on the program's post op diet) for close to 3 months, so I was really used to eating healthy! I took a few meals and ate like I did when I didn't care what I ate. Fast food made me sick and didn't even taste that good, Starbucks was just OK, and I made myself sick again by eating entire bags of snack food. How did that prepare me for surgery? I'd been afraid of what would happen if my tastes changed and it was out of my control because of the irreversible surgery. Here I was, pre op, and my tastes were already changing. I was fine with that and would be fine with it as a post op patient. I also learned some strategies and coping mechanisms. I can make my own bacon cheeseburgers at home without the bun that are healthier and taste better than what fast food has to offer. I like Starbucks more for the atmosphere than the food and beverages, so it doesnt matter that I've switched from coffee to decaf tea. I also realized that I was a snack food binger, but I think the only solution to that is to not buy it. -
Cannot sleep thinking about my weight
ProudGrammy replied to cutensingle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
[ cutesingle the immediate answer to your question is "NO" - i was lucky and my mind turned off when it was bedtime and i slept well early PO i was so tired that i nodded off pretty quickly don' know what time it was cuz i was asleep i know you are going to lose weight its inevitable that the weight will come off - your stomach is now 85% smaller than it used to be, you can't and won't eat too much i know you are following all the rules with drinking and eating - you will be successful, i promise!!! but....don't hurry the process thinking you will lose one gazillion lbs in a week, don't lose sleep over how much you are or aren't losing in a week don' ever compare your small or large weight losses to anyones elses on the board - or anywhere, ok?? easier said than done, but you gotta calm down and get your necessary rest your typing away on the computer making all sorts of noise - its 3:38 am - i knew i heard something - it was you?? close your pretty eyes, count chicken breasts or yogurt good night!!!
