    NSV!

it truly is so amazing to go into the closet and fit into everything. and most things are big. I swore I would wear what I already had through at least 4 seasons. so far I have had clothes to fit into from needing a 4x to now 1x or even large tops. but if summer doesn't finally rear its beautiful warm days I may have to buy something. I am sitting here in sweats to big but all I have. but I do have several pairs of shorts and sundresses just waiting in the closet. come on summer. I am loving nsv much more than the scale.

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

Hi! Yesterday I had an amazing NSV! For a"normal" person - not a big deal, but but many of us? You be the judge! After 20 years of not even thinking of trying, I actually got in and took my first bath! It was heavenly! I know, this is not a life altering experience... or is it? I think so! :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2: Katja

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

NSVs..... 1. I am able to wear some clothes that I haven't been able to wear for a year and a half. 2. Within 2 wks, those clothes are big on me! 3. I bought a tankini 2 mos. ago (pre-surgery) in a size 28 and now it's too big. Bought a new one-piece this week in a size 24! 4. My husband can put his arms ALL THE WAY AROUND ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Any April sleevers

Hows it going everyone? I am traveling these days. Appetite is not even half of what it used to be. a few bites and I'm full!! I havent stepped on the scale for 2 weeks now almost, but my clothes are fitting better and I actually wore an outfit I had made 4 yrs ago last week that wouldn't fit. So the NSV's are definitely there!
  5. ReadySteadyGo

I can see, I can see!!!

That is a cool NSV. I can't wait to get there.

I can see, I can see!!!

Great NSV. My recent favorite is sitting in my desk chair and crossing my legs! It has been so, so, so long since I was able to do that. Thought I might scream, but thought my employees would be alarmed. Today's NSV was going to Stein Mart and buying a size L skirt at 75% off. It feels so good to be an L!!!
  7. I don't really have any advice or tips for you as I am not banded yet... but I just wanted to say that what you've lost in such a short time is amazing! And NSVs, to me, are just as important as seeing that scale drop. Congratulations on the new capris. :]

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

Congratulations everyone! Greyhoundmom - I will be shopping at Avenue and Lane Bryant until their smallest size just hangs off of me. I have no clue where else I will shop, as I am not wanting to give my money to the stores that used to turn up their noses at me if I even dared to walk into their stores. I am open to suggestions. Thinking Kohls and Coldwater Creek. My NSV for today was 45 minutes on the elliptical at the gym, 6800 steps and 3.45 miles. The first time I ever even tried the elliptical I was only on for 3 minutes and simply gasping for breath. I can also run up the stairs to "inspect" my messy teenage daughters room. I think being in the dark about the condition of her room might have been better. Have a great rainy Saturday!

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

I have seen this thread for days now and just never opened it up. What a mistake that was - I have been missing joyful tears all this time! I am so moved by each and every one of your posts and am so happy for all of you! And I'm happy for me too and just want to share - pretty much the same NSV that the rest of you have reported, but none the less, exciting! 1. I FEEL my husband's arms go around me just a bit tighter and I LIKE that! 2. I have noticed the last week that I have sat in a couple of chairs with arms, like at the doctor's office waiting room, and I SLIDE down into it! Still snug, but I SLIDE!!!! I don't have to fold myself into it. (By the way, I'm crying right now...tears of joy!) 3. People that don't even know I had the surgery are saying to me that I look so happy - if they only knew!!! Thank you so much for sharing you NSV! It's an exciting new life, isn't it?!

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

Those are awesome NSV's Allie!! I can now shop in the same stores as my daughter and unsubscribe to Lane Bryants emails! size 14's!! I went on an airplane and fit in the seat, the seatbelt, and the arm rest stayed down and wasn't pushed up by the parts of me that used to squeeze underneath I also now weigh less than my 6'6 husband I weigh less than my drivers license!!!! the bow when I tie my shoes is now on top of the shoe, not on the side crossing legs!

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

This is sort of a NSV....I can't think of a better thread to put it on and I really wanted to post it... My son's on his way to Sydney for the 2010 Scout Jamboree. Today we packed his bag and his luggage allowance was 23kg. He filled his bag and put it in the boot of the car and was saying how heavy it was and he wouldn't like to carry it very far...that's when I realised.... 5 months into my banded life that's how much weight I have lost - 23kg. I've a long way to go still but I couldn't believe how heavy it was or how far and long I had carried it on my own. To feel the weight of it and be able to understand it rather than it just being a number that was part of me, weight I had to lose or had put on or needed to lose or whatever else that figure has always been in the past. It felt really good to know what it actually felt like, to realise that was how much I was NOT carrying anymore. I really, really, really wanted to tell all the other parents the significance of the 23kg bags they were all helping their Scouts to handle. I know they would just have looked at me without understanding what it meant to me. So instead of telling them I am posting it here to tell you guys as I know you will understand how I felt about it and why it was so important to me. It was like a revelation, a realisation. If you do not know what your loss feels like I would strongly recommend filling a bag with books to match the weight you have lost. If you are struggling or feeling like nothing is moving fast enough it is a real boost to realise how far you have already come and that it is ok to rest a while. Have a safe and happy 2010

Come on, I know there has to be lots of Non-Scale Victories (NSVS) now, let's hear yours!! I had another one yesterday. I discovered my bras just weren't offering the support they used to so I went bra shopping. I've gone from a 42 to a 38!!!

    Six week pre-op diet

Hi Lizzie Thank you for your support. I got home yesterday (Tues) so in hospital for 5 days total, longer than I first thought. Wasn't up to replying earlier sorry, I am just so tired. Everything went well, weighed myself this morning and have lost 2.9 kgs since Mon 7th. How are you going Lizzie? Are you starting to move that weight now and how about any NSV's. What exciting puréed meals have you made. When did you have to start counting Protein my doc told me not to worry about that at this time, I do see him again next Tuesday though so maybe he will run through it then along with Vitamins etc. Anyway that's me all done - exhausted again, will speak again soon. Take care Marie Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Fenton vs. PRCowboy Challenge

Thursday weigh in. Still cruising along at 245. Did get a nice NSV - compliment from one of the lady regulars at the gym this morning saying how good I was looking

What is your most recent NSV?......Go!

Agree with the 2 posters above! So awesome to see a collarbone, and appreciating being "checked out". I am enjoying being the size I am now. Here's my naughty NSV--making that b*@#*y woman down the hall at work "pea green with envy"!
  17. Fiesty, I am glad you were able to find something that will dissolve. The calcium I bought was the wrong kind, a large tablet instead of the chewable. It is on the return list. I did not take meds well before surgery either, and I need to find one I will be consistent with. So far everything else goes down and stays pretty well. NSV...all stitches removed, and on to butterfly bandages. Well only two anyway. The remaining to incisions seem to be closed pretty well, I just want to be sure I don't sneeze anything loose. So ladies, Thanksgiving marks a special day for us, well pending doctor approval. It is Day 1 of puree/soft or more affectionately called "phase II". As I preparing my list for what I will be making for my family, I decided I should probably decide what I will be slurping that day. So far I have come up with turkey salad aka I will pureed some turkey with egg, broth, and light mayo.
  18. Yep have felt the same - 48lbs since the start of the journey, 40lbs of that post surgery in 11 weeks. Have to keep reminding myself that my obsession with instant gratification is how I got to be so big in the first place! Then I get some perspective on it and acknowledge I have dropped 4 dress sizes and feel better than I have in years. People are noticing the weight loss and giving me compliments - which is great! I have had to give away nearly all my pre-surgery clothes... costly but liberating! Best thing is I am seeing muscles starting to emerge through the blubber - and I ran up a flight of stairs without thinking the other day! Concentrate on your NSVs - it seems that your scales sometimes take a bit longer to catch up with the changes you feel and see! Good luck and chin up to all yopu losers!

    Mood Swings?!?!?!?

hey annie, congrats on the nsv! and thank god im not the only one going through this. I JUST turned 39 and thought i was going through "the change" early too. You know though it DOES make sense to get on the pill to try to control it. Libra, thanks for that idea, ill probably go in and see what i can do. maybe because of the extra estrogen the pill you were taking isnt strong enough anymore? Im definitely going to go in and find out if i can get on them. we only have so many eggs. when they go, they go...and rapid fire shooting isnt doin me any good.

    YOU KNOW YOUR "FAT" WHEN.............

Great NSV Pam! When the new nurse taking blood pressure and stuff asks about your due date.
  21. Awww girlie great pic...I am still ALMOST there. 4 more lbs to hit my 100, it is taking forever!!!! Have great weekend and enjoy your NSV. Sent from my iPad using VST
  22. I've been a bit disappointed the last few weeks because I haven't lost a lot of weight. However, I had a couple of great things happen this weekend that's really encouraged me. First, I pulled out my winter clothes and I'm now able to button all my coats, which is something I haven't been able to do. Today, my sister offered to take me shopping for new jeans, since mine (size 24's) were falling off and I didn't have any smaller sizes. Before surgery, I had been wearing 26/28's. I pulled some 22's and my daughter encouraged me to try a 20. I thought there would be no way they would fit. Well, they did! In fact, they were a bit loose. Long story short, I walked out of the store with a size 18 pair of jeans! I haven't worn that size in at least 25 years! So those of you who may be in a bit of a stall or think you're not going to be successful, don't give up! It will happen.

10 Month Post opp and stuck, (pics)

YOu look so happy and so beautiful. You also dont look overweight anymore so you're right, you probably will lose slowly from hereon in. I'm in the same boat now, I'd like to lose another 20kg but I'm really only 14kg above my longest held non overweight adult weight, and its coming off really s-l-o-w-l-y now. Like 1kg (2lb) a month. But I figure over a year or two that's another 12 to 24kg so I'm just concentrating on the NSV's and the joys of not being a fatty boombah any longer. You're glowing literally, you must be feeling wonderful.

    Rewards!

Okay, I will start by saying I'm a 48 year old, educated and for the most part, demure woman....but I think one of my favorite NSV's will be .... when a man bumps into me because he is trying to cop a feel, not just because my ass is in his airspace.... ....sigh....I am but weak flesh.... :faint: ...cat

Gone For Good Club- August 2006

Okay....the NSV. I'll be honest with all of you. I have a sister who was bulimic and anorexic, so I'm not really a fan of the scale. I'm a fan of the clothes fit test and the endurance and fitness tests. I digress....my NSV was wearing a TANKINI for the first time this past week. My man was super wowed by it. I wish he would make better health choices. I'm hoping mine will rub off on him. Congrats to you Tricia K. I don't know about you, but I've never been close to being able to wear a 2 piece suit in any way shape or form, but I'm so glad you're rocking it!!!! Have a great time in Florida!
