    Nsv.......

Well I went snowboarding this weekend which was great without carrying an extra 65 lbs but the NSV was when I got on the chair lift....I did not worry about it leaning to one side!!! I was always afraid that the chair would hang low on the side I was sitting on. I would make sure to sit in the middle if at all possible. Not any more! I now weigh less than my husband and kids!!!!!

    May Bandsters~October Chat

Hi Everyone, I'm back from San Francisco and just catching up on everything. It sounds like a lot has been going on. Paladin - I wil be praying for your FIL. Tell 3Loves "Hi" for me! Alicia - From what I have been reading, it seems really normal for the weight loss to slow down quite a bit once you get around and under 200 lbs. Don't be too discouraged! I'm sure you look and feel great! It will probably be slow going now so try to concentrate more on how much better your quality of life is now or on the NSV's. I can't wait to join you in being "just overweight."

    Care to share?

@sassyfrass23. Thank you very much. WLS can be highly effective if you follow the plan before & during.....and I assume, AFTER. The results are surreal at times. The part that really will make you laugh is when you go shopping for clothes and don't know where to start.....you gravitate towards your older sizes but the sales folks in the stores steer you towards the smaller sizes you actually need. Wild experience. Check out @@heather5565 experience last weekend.....how cool is this ? !!!!!!!!! http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/360684-a-huge-nsv-that-i-had-to-have-explained-to-me/?hl=+explained LMAO and high-fives for her. As far as hair loss......it's not something to worry about long term. Easy for a dude to say this....if it gets really bad I'll just break out the razor, right ? Just kidding....it'll be temporary and taking the supplements & getting my Protein is about all I can really do about it. Unless there is a bariatric shampoo.............
  5. I have a family wedding to go to this Saturday. I found a dress in the back of my closet that I thought would be fine to wear. Today I had lunch with a friend I have not seen in a while. She was telling me that she went to Dress Barn and got some nice outfits for her son's graduation. I have never been to Dress Barn, so on the way home I decided to stop and see if they had something inexpensive I could wear to the wedding instead of my old boring dress. I walked in and noticed the store was split in half. The left side was Women's and the right was Misses. I was confused as to what direction to go. I thought I would start with size 16 and if that didn't fit go up to 18. I asked the saleslady what side had size 16. She said the right side goes up to 16. I walked in and looked around pulling out some dresses to try on. I thought what am I doing over here. I can't wear these small cute dresses. These have waists to them! OH, why not I thought and carried my 3 dresses and 1 slack set in case a dress is out of the question to the dressing room. The first dress I tried on was the display dress. It was black and white and had a white tie belt. Cute and the latest style. I zipped it most the way up but couldn't get that last bit at the top... I didn't know if it was because it was too tight or I just couldn't reach it. I stepped out to find the saleslady. She finished zipping it up. We both looked in the full length mirror...and to my amazement it fit perfectly! I was so pumped I tried on the next one which was a sexy form fitting cutie. Back out to the saleslady, I said this is too much for a wedding. She said no it fit me perfect and looked even better then the first one. Back in I go for #3 dress. This one felt like a nightgown on. Fit but not as nice as the other two. Saleslady agreed with me. Next I tried on the pant suit. Well, I will be darned if that didn't look great too! I bought Dress #1 for church, Dress #2 for the Wedding, and pant suit because I will need something to wear for the trip. I bought the lot for $120...what a bargain! On the way out, I walked through the Women's size side and said my fairwell to waistless tent dresses. I love my lapband!

    My NSV At Dress Barn

Congrats! What an amazing thing it is to shop in the "regular" sizes. My NSV story: This weekend I grabbed a t-shirt to wear to the gym and realized it was my son's size large, and IT FIT. I showed my family who all agreed that it accentuated my "feminine" curves and the fact that I now actually have a waist. So, I went to the local mall and shopped in the "misses' section (hadn't shopped there in 17 years and forgot what the section was even called) and bought two size large shirts. Didn't say anything to anyone at work, but got many compliments, 3 from men! I am down to a size 18 pant now, when the day of surgery I was wearing a 26/28. I go on my life dream trip to the UK next month and refuse to shop until the weekend before I go, hoping to have a 16 pant in my wardrobe. Yeah for NSV's!

    NSV For ME

That is truly an awesome NSV -- I have been in too many dowdy old western dresses to count -- can hardly wait till I get the chance to be a barmaid too

    Regrets

The things that seem like a struggle now, will become less and less difficult. It will become normal, in fact. It seems like a major disappointment now, but I promise you that the scale and the NSVs will keep you motivated and grateful that you did this. With anything in life there are drawbacks. This has way more positives to regret.

    NSV anyone?

Since I am not banded, I am not having that easy of a time YET but I do have one- about a year ago, I felt like I would never lose weight. I had lost all hope. I literally threw all of my clothes away. Well, at least I thought I had. I found my favorite pair of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in 9 years (size 16-18) and a favorite sun dress from the same time (a large). Somehow they got put in a box of the kids keep sake baby clothes. I got so excited when I saw them and I thought "COOL! I better wash these up and put them in the closet! I will need these soon." It just occurred to me reading everyones posts that for me that is a NSV. I have hope![]

    NSV anyone?

NSV - non scale victory. Anything that makes you feel really good that has nothing to do with the numbers on a scale. ie.. fitting into a turnstyle with ease, not needing a seat belt extender on a plane. fitting into smaller jeans, having someone whistle at you while you're getting in your car, feeling your hip bones, collar bones, shoulders, seeing things you haven't seen in years..:devious shall I continue? lol

    NSV anyone?

A year ago this Month I had to have carpol tunnel surgery on my wrists. They did the left one first. I had to go to the fire department to get my wedding ring cut off and it left the deepest groove. Hard to believe there was blood getting to the tip of that ring finger. Well when I started to consider this lapband I didn't bother to get ring sized up. Late week when my brother in law got married I saw the ring in the dresser and i tried it on. IT fits.(NSV) AS soon as I lose anther 20 pounds I will get it repaired . I do miss wearing it. You can see in my signature below my other NSV. I am so happy that this is working for me and my family. God bless you all

  15. Hey gang! I get that an NSV is a milestone, or compliment, but I can't figure out what it stands for. Help a brother out!

    What Does Nsv Stand For?

Walking for 9 holes of Golf is one for sure. A lot of times we get worried when we don't see the scale move. That doesn't mean that your not losing ! You start losing inches. That can be a bigger victory then the scale. Like Kitty said, cloths sizes go down, so you are smaller, fitting in a Restaurant Booth, or Theater Seat, Getting complimented from someone on your weight Loss, Crossing your Legs. All these and more, that does not pertain to the scale is a NSV. Celebrate them all....

    weekly update

Okay, so I'm a day late. I just didn't have time yesterday morning for my usual routine. I even had to skip my workout at Curves. :cry I'll try to add an extra one this week. This has been my first whole week with a fill. I don't really feel much restriction. I do occasionally feel a little tightness if I eat too fast. A couple of deep breaths usually clears it right up and I can continue eating without any problems. I"m just going to try to take it one meal at a time and see if I get any more restriction. I'm not sure how long my doctor requires between fills. I'll have to call his office and ask. I've had some good NSVs this week, so overall I'm pretty happy with my band. Also as you can see from my ticker, I now have less than 100 pounds to lose!!:clap2: :clap2:

Do you think my pants are too big?

I love it - the one of you and your mom. What a treasured pic for your journey! Old clothes fitting too big are a better NSV then anything else!

    The wedding

IT'S FINALLY DONE!! As any of you who have been reading my blogs know, I have been diligently working on flowers and decorations for a friends wedding. I'm so glad I'm done with that! It turned out awesome and she was extremely happy. NSV of the day, I wore a skirt to the wedding that my ex husband bought me about 15 years ago and I have never been able to wear it, he bought it about four sizes to small. (thanks honey) It FIT today!!!!! It was fun I had a friend tell me that it made me look really skinny!!!!! I will admit, it was a nice thing to hear~~ I'm starting to see a change, with this last fill and feeling the restriction, I'm hoping the number on the scale changes too. That's it for me, I have the flu and I'm headed to bed. Hope everyone in bandland is doing well, keep in touch!

    Nsv For Me!

GREAT JOB!! I love NSVs related to my butt size!! We have an overstuffed chair in our living room and me and my husband (he's got a skinny, bony butt!) can now sit comfortably in it together and snuggle.

    NSV!

My suregery date was MArch 20, 2014. About two weeks after surgery my mother in law had given me several outfits that were 1x in size. Day of surgery I was a 3x. In the last couple of days I have been able to comfortably fit into these 1x clothes and I almost cried. I did dance.

    NSV!

it truly is so amazing to go into the closet and fit into everything. and most things are big. I swore I would wear what I already had through at least 4 seasons. so far I have had clothes to fit into from needing a 4x to now 1x or even large tops. but if summer doesn't finally rear its beautiful warm days I may have to buy something. I am sitting here in sweats to big but all I have. but I do have several pairs of shorts and sundresses just waiting in the closet. come on summer. I am loving nsv much more than the scale.

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

Hi! Yesterday I had an amazing NSV! For a"normal" person - not a big deal, but but many of us? You be the judge! After 20 years of not even thinking of trying, I actually got in and took my first bath! It was heavenly! I know, this is not a life altering experience... or is it? I think so! :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2: Katja
