LOL rant... Well not really

I could easily be obessed by daily numbers. I have been known pre-band to weigh myself 10 times a day. I have vowed to only weigh in at my monthy dr's appointments and am looking at NSV's inbetween. Then I'm not frustrated when the doc says " you've lost 6 lbs this month" I can be happy. If I had weighed daily, 6 pounds per month can seem like so little, but seems glorious if you weigh only weekly or monthly. -
NSV. I may be losing slowly - 1/2 lb per week on average but today I got the best news ever. The doctor has taken me off my last diabetic pill - Metformin. Now I control the diabetes strickly by exercise and diet. Anyone thinking of the band or getting discouraged, hang in there. Slow weight loss adds up and the rewards are exhilerating.

NSV - I've had 3 sugar-free days in a row. My diabetic, pregnant neice has been in the emergency room 3 times in the last 4 months. I wanted to remember to pray for her. A thought came to my mind - give up sugar and pray for Alissa today. I did - no withdrawals - not even tempted. NSV #2 - I've added jog/walking at our track at the gym. My mood is much better. NSV #3 - I'm not jumping on the scale every morning and my day is no longer dictated by the number on the scale. Getting back to my old band habits (good ones) isn't easy. I do feel some hope in the sugar-free days. My next NSV is to put on my 16's and find that the 14's I put aside would fit better. All the best to the Junebies and learning how to continue to use this little tool for the long haul.

Raedelicious - it is addictive, isn't it? I started the Couch to 5K Program this month and found I love running too. I'd never have guessed it. Congrats on your NSV!!! That's HUGE!!!

Great NSV's everyone!!!! I recently bought some workout pants and I was able to wear an XL, IN THE REGULAR SIZES!! I know they are stretchy, but I don't care....they fit!! I can't wait until I can do all my shopping in the regular sizes. What a wonderful day that will be!

Hello to all Well, the rain went away and headed your way I hope.... We ended up pushing a nice ride this evening and got in 26.10 miles.....it was a fast paced ride....except when I got a leg cramp..I got behind someone to go up a hill, and I was in a harder gear...the rest is history... But I lved through it and am ready to rock and roll now. Looks like it is going to be a hoooottt weekend..... Good Job D on your NSV.....isnt that an awesome feeling???? J...YOU WILL DO GREAT this weekend....I know you will.... You and BG both have done so much for yourselfs and to even think about this just boggles my mind. I will be thinking of you both

I hear ya! One of the best NSV's in my wls life has been being able to WORK again!! Who would have ever thought that??!! My husband had had to do all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc....everything...for about 3 years. Now I do all that and a whole lot MORE! And if I'm happy about it, just think how thrilled HE must be!!!

Hey, I rented a carpet cleaning machine today. Got it at 10am, got home started cleaning, of course vaccuuming three rooms and one hallway. I was done at 1:30. That was three hours time. Now, for the NSV. It used to take me ALL DAY TO DO THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have to stop every few minutes and sit down and rest. Wow, am I impressed with this weight loss thing!!! I just can't believe that I am done and everything is cleaned up and ready to go back to the store......:thumbup::rolleyes2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::eek::thumbup::seeya:

Thanks Ann. NSV = Non Scale Victory - a celebration of all those little things that come with losing weight, apart from seeing the numbers move on the scale (eg new clothes, being able to tie your shoe laces and breathe at the same time, etc). Size 10 eh? Whoohoo! Congrats! I'm sure that feels WONDERFUL!

These are so inspiring! It's so very important to keep in mind that the number on the scale isn't the only reason we're doing this... I'm sharing a couple of my first 'significant' NSVs. --The shorts I wore in my "before" photo (which were tight everywhere, and looked like 1980s coaching shorts) are now loose all the way around my thighs, and the waistband actually slips down to my hips! I've never had to tie the drawstring before... --On my way to a conference this past weekend, I flew for the first time since my surgery. On BOTH trips, I had to TIGHTEN the seatbelt after buckling it! :hurray: I've always had to let the stupid thing out a few inches... --On the flights mentioned above, my stomach was 4-5 inches away from the tray table when I let it down! :wink2: I didn't have to "suck it in" just to write down my notes. --My thighs/hips stayed between the armrests in my seat; no more overhang for me!

Wow what a post... Fanny that orange really compliments your skin tone, it makes your face so much brighter you might want to try a version of that color. You look fabulous. Now what does NSV mean??? I am not real computer literate and don't know to many of the letter meanings. Okay so, My summer fun will be in size 10 shorts WOW!!!!! i could not beleive they fit when I tried them on. I was Happy dancing in the fitting room. (only my bottoms are 10 my top is still a 16 due to the twin sisters not going anywhere) I am going to go buy a bikini tomorrow for my Cancun vacation my husband is treating me to in 10 days. Scars or not I'm wearing it.

I had two NSV's last week. I told you about the first one in the dress shop already. My second NSV came when I used my checkcard for a purchase. The clerk at this store (Not the same one as above) asked for my driver's license. When I handed it to her, she looked at the picture and looked at me. Then kept looking back and forth. Finally, I asked if there was a problem. She said "This isn't you!! I assured her it was. I started pulling out other ID's. I told her she could ask my 9 year old who was there what my name was. LOL When I told her I had lost over 100 lbs since that picture was taken, she laughed and handed me my ID. She said they are told to keep the license if they don't think it is you, but that I needed to go get a new license. That girl mae my day. LOL

Renewed - that sucks! I hope they can get your air fixed today. I see you are in Texas. Is it scortching now? The humidity here is killing me! Is it the whole unit or do you have a leak? Ours went out two years ago at this time - it's miserable! kathy - that' wonderful! I'm like you - I was a 42/44DDD preband and love that the girls have shrunk. Yea!! Great NSV!!!

Congratulations on your NSV!!! Those are great ones. The one I love the very most I think is going into a restaurant and being able to sit at a booth. With room to spare. I can still remember the day that happened. I cried.

Leslie and Mia - Thosre are great NSV's, congratulation. I haven't posted any lately since I've been at a stand still for so long and I haven't been anywhere or done much. But, I did start back to work at school today and I've changed schools and there were a couple of people who haven't seen me for over a year, and a couple of them didn't recognize me. That was quite nice. Leslie - I know you must be thrilled to wear a size 14, It is such a great feeling. I was shopping Saturday and I still get amazed that I can shop in the regular misses sections. I always thought that if I could just wear a 16 that I would be happy, but now I have 12's in sight. I can wear quite a few 14's and am thinking that 12's would be wonderful. So that's my next goal. -

Ooh, here's another one. I realised this past weekend I could sit with my legs toward my chest and rest my arms on top of my knees. I was at the beach and did it...the stomach didn't block me! I was so giddie! I love NSV's!!! Keep posting! :-) You don't realise the simple things that we miss because we're fat.
