  1. I started my weight loss journey a month ago. I had my gastric sleeve surgery on Jan 24 2019. So far I have lost a total of 23lbs, but I think I've lost more in inches! I can feel the difference a little, but it's still early. I find that taking a weekly picture helps. Here is a picture journey into my journey.... From week one to week four! 2 week stall?

I was sleeved the day before you - and hit a stall at day 10 that is in its 6th day now. I know everyone says it's normal and to be expected, but it's still very worrying and frustrating after going through so much to get here. Hugs.
  3. Okay. I’ve promised myself I won’t panic. Was sleeved on 2/6 and recovering “normally” Lost 23.4 pounds in 12 days and now I’ve been at the exact same weight for 3 days running. Lol, I even had my husband get on the scale to verify it wasn’t “stuck” and it registered a different weight with him. I’ve heard of the 3 week stall and was ready for that, but this has kinda hit me by surprise. Has anyone else had the 2 week stall? I’m keeping my fingers crossed that maybe because I lost almost 10% of my body weight in 2 days, I just hit the stall early? The thought that my body is betraying me again this early in the process is unimaginable

Coming up with a diet plan

Everyone needs to find a plan they can live with and find a way to stick to it. I am around 10 weeks post op, so I am still relatively early in my journey--but I started with a relatively low BMI (37) and I only around 25 pounds away from my goal weight. I have been using the time to focus on major lifestyle changes. I do track everything I eat (most of the time) using MyFitnessPal. It's a great way to hold yourself accountable and see where you could be making mistakes. I am happy following a very low carb (keto-style diet). My macros are generally in the order of 43% protein, 40% fat and 7% carbs (mostly in the form of fibrous veggies) . I do track my calories, but my main focus is on sticking to my macros. I usually eat between 1100 and 1400 calories a day at this point. I am trying to bring it back down closer to 1100 at the moment. That's a sustainable amount for me at the moment, since I work out for 2-2.5 hours at a high intensity every morning.

    Very low again

I've had anxiety on top of my depression for a while. I've been on Wellbutrin since a few months after my first child was born (she's 5 now), but I had been having symptoms of depression since my mid-teens. I talked to my nurse practitioner, and she's weaning my off the Wellbutrin and I'll be starting Lexapro instead in 10 days or so. Being off the extended-release version of Wellbutrin, I'm already seeing a difference in my mood. I wonder if I just wasn't digesting/absorbing the drug as well with my smaller stomach? At any rate, I'm happy to be switching to a drug that has a better effect on anxiety too.

    Yogurt

I love Chobani, but the carb/protein ratio is kind of high. 20g of sugar and ~12g of protein. Some flavors still adhere to the 10 calories/1 gram of protein rule, though. Key lime is my favorite. I'd love to try some of these other flavors you're recommending. I can't eat plain unflavored greek yogurt, though - tastes like sour cream to me! The Oikos triple zero is a little thick for me, but I eat that one regularly too. I mostly eat yogurt for breakfast every day. I bring a RTD protein shake, cup of yogurt, and 2 cheeses (string cheese, colby jack, or Tillamook cheddar) to work every morning and I'm pretty much good until lunchtime.

So proud of my self doing the bridge felt like I had my butt up so high and holding it for 65 second and then realized I wasn’t even an inch off the Matt. LOL. HEY at lest it’s progress right?

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

Yep all of January was up and down but February has been kinder. Adding more water back in to my daily routine 80-100 ounces and 10 min of cardio every day and keeping my fat to about 20-30 grams. Today it’s helping try not to look back but focus on today. :)

    October 2018 Sleevers

My surgery was 10/15. I never thought I’d have so much discomfort 4 months out. It’s actually worse that earlier and I follow the recommended diet. But I’m down 45 lbs on my scale. Which is new-the scale.

Yes! I had my surgery on 10/17 and i can eat anything, including bread. I still cant eat like i did pre-op, but its not as restrictive as i had hoped. The inly thing that helps is drinking enough water. I slack off on water, but then i can eat way too much. I find that if im full of water, or protein shake, i can't overeat. February 2019 weight loss buds

I was still in the hospital at that time. I had little plastic shot glasses I was drinking from and they wanted me to do 6 an hour with protein being the most important. I could only do 2 protein and was full so I'd do a couple water too. My roommate on the other hand could hit her 6 easy. Do your best to get in what they told you to over the course of the day and I found as the swelling came down I was able to drink more. A couple days after being home I was able to drink 2 protein shakes and half the liquid they wanted over the course of the day. Now at day 10 I can get all my liquids in.

Thanks for asking! I am having gastric bypass. My journey started in October, 3 months of nutritional visits, a couple of Dr. appts, submitted my paperwork to insurance 2/15 and was approved 2/19!. Now surgery is scheduled for 2/22! It's been really fast for me! Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Very low again

@bajansleeve Your post also, apparently, put a rocket up my behind. A real fists clenched 'NO MORE' moment. Found my closest consultant member of the British Menopause Society. Called and found out they take referrals from outside their local NHS catchment area, called my GP and asked how best to get a referral. Threw myself on receptionist mercy to identify a sympathetic doctor Vs the first one they could find, now have a phone appointment in 10 days to get that referral to consultant gynaecologist. Whoohoo! Here's hoping GP doesn't fob me off Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

  15. My operation was February 14th, 2019 - just lookin for some of you to converse with!!🌸🌸✨⚡️
  16. Me me me! Just passed the 4 month mark (sleeved 10/17). Started pre-op diet at 275. Was 265 on day of surgery. This morning I'm 208. I think I'm in a stall... the loss has slowed to about 1 to 1.5 pounds per week the last few weeks. Really hoping it picks back up again because I still have 60 pounds to lose to be at a healthy BMI. (I'm 5'5"). Feeling pretty good! I've suddenly started struggling with head hunger again, though. The last couple months have been pretty great in not noticing/dealing with it, but it's suddenly back with a vengeance. Ugh.

Almond Flour Cinnamon Rolls – Low Carb and Gluten-Free Tender, moist, and perfectly cinnamon-y with a biscuit-like texture, these cinnamon rolls are a sweet keto treat! Course Breakfast Cuisine Breakfast Prep Time 25 minutes Cook Time 20 minutes Total Time 45 minutes Servings 8 cinnamon rolls Ingredients Dough: 2 cups almond flour 3 tbsp granular Swerve Sweetener or other granulated erythritol 3 tbsp unflavored whey protein powder 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp xanthan gum 2 large eggs lightly beaten 1/4 cup butter melted Filling: 1 tbsp butter melted 2 tbsp brown sugar substitute I used Ideal 1 tsp cinnamon Cream Cheese Icing 2 oz cream cheese softened 1 tbsp powdered Swerve Sweetener or other powdered erythritol 1 tbsp heavy cream 1/4 tsp vanilla extract Instructions Preheat oven to 325F and grease an 8-inch round cake pan with butter. In a large bowl, whisk together almond flour, Swerve, whey protein, baking powder, baking soda, salt and xanthan gum. Stir in eggs and butter until dough comes together. It will be quite sticky. Turn out dough onto a large piece of parchment, and then pat into a rough rectangle. Top with another piece of parchment and roll out to about 10x8 inches. Peel off top piece of parchment paper. Brush dough with melted butter, then sprinkle with brown sugar substitute and cinnamon, going almost right to edges. Starting with the far, longer edge of your dough, gently lift away from the parchment and roll up tightly towards you. Pinch the seam to seal. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut into 8 equal portions. Place in prepared cake pan, just barely touching each other, and bake for 20 to 22 minutes, or until just golden brown. ❤ FEBRUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

Soz guys, I've been falling behind. 17. Exercise: hubs hopefully asked if I didn't feel like going for our walk but I said I did so we went. It's feeling "easier" so I need to up my game, make it more challenging somehow. I've turned into one of those people who exercises regularly *gasp*. 18. I need to forgive my late dad for telling me I couldn't wear frilly dresses because I wasn't built to be able to wear them. He didn't know such a throwaway statement from when I was a kid would stay with me, but I forgive him. 19. Positive memory: I was praying in a little mosque in Marrakech when a little boy came over and kissed me on the cheek whilst I was bending over (it's a position of prayer). He skeddaddled off and I never found out whether his mother had told him to do it, or if he was just being a cheeky rascal but it made me smile. He would have been all of five! Total Stall at 2 months post op

Ok, will try to answer some of the remaining questions- no, not taking any pain meds, only allowed Tylenol these days and that does exactly nothing for me so I use alternating heat/ice ..elevate etc.. to deal with knee. Getting MRI tomorrow and should know more. As far as water at work, we are a manufacturing facility of medical parts- we have one small cell that deals with chemical finishing that should not have water in/near those chemicals- the rest of the plant is just regular machining, inspecting, shipping/rec. They decided to unilaterally punish everyone in the plant minus the office staff up front by removing all drinking abilities (water, tea coffee, whatever ) and we only have water fountains at both ends of the facility and one in the clean room. I myself only do computer and paperwork, have no chemicals near me (nor does 98% of the plant) but they made up some bullshit OSHA rule about not being allowed to have drink containers of ANY kind out on the floor. It is cruel, inhumane and I'm looking for a new job, not just because of the lack of hydration but the mandatory 10 hrs of OT they've been shoving down everyone's throat since May of 2018. I still am able to walk and get around, but I'm slowed significantly because sudden changes of direction could cause more damage, kneeling or stooping is impossible at this point, and stairs are risky bc the knee wants to go it's own direction without notice. My husband used to ask me to slow down my walking and called me a "sandpiper" bc I always walked like I was on fire or something. Now it takes a long time to get anywhere and it's frustrating to me. When your mobility is changed for any reason, it's a frustrating adjustment. As far as lifting my arms, do that all night long. My arms never stop all night long. Just want to be able to enjoy (and trust my legs again) so I can walk around, garden, go shopping, etc without pain and restriction. Don't want to be hurt right now. If I've missed a question- please forgive.
  24. I am really sorry. No advice, but I am in a similar place. Sleeved on 10/29. I'm nauseated 90% of the time and have reflux 100% of the time. Luckily, I haven't thrown up yet. I just feel like I need to. And I can eat less now than I could about a month out. Just got off the phone with my doc's nurse and looks like more testing is in order. As I was crying and saying how much I regretted this decision, she told me "This is not my life, this will pass." I just need that to be my mantra for now.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

May I have at least a weak,Oo- Rah? Very very proud of you, remember you owe us all a picture of you when through, if you turn chicken(perish the thought!) you can always PM me one, okay? 2-3 days out, very little pain , drove my son bonkers, kept exposing my belly, couldn't still believe those truly were incisions, thought Dr Needleman drew them on with a thin Red Magic Marker, tapped them gently with a gloved finger, still not much pain , wonder if they gave me some sort of nerve block? When sensation came back approximately 5 days out when the small skin blood vessel started bleeding under my skin until it looked like I was carrying an alien baby in there, it was more itching and prickly discomfort then. Until I started stenosising and ulcerative in there I was much less painful than anything else, that' when Precious Pouch started upchucking even more than when OSU makes a touchdown and I was having so much right subcostal pain, thought Dr N had killed my liver, kept looking in the mirror for my sclera to turn yellow with jaundice. And ThAt's a Tornado tail I'm still riding, to paraphrase the Flintstones commercial " Two months 23 days and Still pumping". Good news for me I'm going from 12 to 10 hours, smaller TPN bags, fewer calories, and I am supposed to try p.o. 2 oz either soft squishy carrots and such veggies or 2 oz protein chewed to an gray gelatinous mass every 2 to 2.5 hours. Bad news I now have a viral infection, nonA, nonB influenza, positive blood cultures x2, adult thrush because I am now immunocompromized, since I don't visit bariatric again until March 26th for my (Whaaa,10th) endoscopic examination of my esophagus, RnY pouch with stomal structure anomaly, jejuneal(2nd intestinal portion) with its not yet perforated, not yet bleeding ulcerations. Tra-la tweedle dee dee, if I had planned to be this special I would have perfected the Miss America wave better. But you know I will get through this all, at any case my PCP says let's cure this problem first then you can join their little diet, planning. So endoscopy 3/26. follow-up 4/12. what then ? PICC line removal? Rejoin the eating race? Resume the weight loss, cause right now I'm at a near stand still, 3 pounds one month, 6 pounds then other, but when the PICC line was inserted I immediately regained 12 pounds I had lost from malnourishment and dehydration. This may be a straight trail but there are barbed wired lines, on each side. Are they also electrified? Not touching to find out!
