  1. How many calories and carbs are you taking in each day? It seems very unusual to not lose anything for 4 weeks at this stage of the game. I'd recommend having a conversation with your team about it.

    Losing Weight During Tom

Yes, you're alone in this and I'm jealous! I had about a three pound GAIN every month around my cycle, with a week on either side where I'd usually stay within half a pound on the scale. Closer to mid-cycle (ovulation), I'd drop all of my weight for the month in one week. Even in maintenance I see a gain around TOM. Be thankful. We never know how our hormones will affect us! ~Cheri

    What full feels like now

This is a hard one. It's easy to describe what one bite too many feels like! I'm still working on full. My brain has not yet caught up with Sleevette. It rejects the idea that I am full on two tablespoons of food. I'm celebrating this week because I can get down 3 oz of protein at a time (have done it twice, verrryyy sloooowly).

ok.. so, this may sound weird

I am so sorry for all the struggles you are dealing with. To be honest, it all just sucks!. Hopefully things will turn around for you soon. I pray that you don't get too discouraged at the beginning of your lapband journey due to all the changes and stress. I know the first week after surgery, I questioned my actions.... a lot. Now I do not regret or question it at all. With all the hormone changes from the recent hysterectomy and the meds and stress on your body from the upcoming surgery remember to take time for yourself. Hang in there, I wish you the best!

    The Neverending period

Just wanted to add to this thread that I've currently had a period for over a month. My Ob/Gyn put me on 10 day progesterone and now that I'm done with the pills, my period has become even worse. I'm going through superplus tampons every 1-2 hours. I'm feeling very week. I go to the Ob/Gyn tomorrow and she's talked about going on birth control pills. I have PCOS and am scared about going on birth control pills as I've had issues with fertility. Anyone else going through this? How long did it take to regulate? I'm really hoping this is just estrogen leaving my body, but I wish it would give me a break... I've been on a stall on my weight loss for just as long.

    Day 8 Of This Stall

Same here girl going into the third week of this stall and its not fun especially when its the first stall makes you want to quit but we can't lets just take one day at a time and sooner than soon it will be over and back to loosing weight:)
  7. Okay so prior to my surgery in January, I had been on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for about a year and a half. During that time I also started college and gained more than the normal freshman 15. So my concern now is, how much of that weight may have come from the birth control as opposed to the whole freshman 15 deal? Since my surgery I have not had a period until this week and am supposed to take my first pill on the sunday after the start of my period which is TODAY!!! I am terrified about my weight loss slowing down or stopping or even gaining weight when going back on the pill....I know there are a few threads regarding birth control but none really specifically about Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo, so if anyone has any experience with this issue or advice it would be greatly appriciated!!!

    In Less Than 24 Hours

I wish u the best:) This thursday I will be 3 weeks post op! surgery and anesthesia were fine its more the gas pain that is uncomfortable. Walk as soon as you are able to tolerate it even if its a few steps or even feet. BEing on the operating table for so long may cause you to have horrible lower back pain. Dont be afraid to ask for pain meds! warm heated blankets on my back helped out A LOT!

    Female Issues

I had my surgery on October 3rd. Maybe 1 week after surgery I started having very dark brown discharge. I started my BC on October 29. It stopped it for not even a week. Should I call my OBGYN about the discharge? There is no blood, just very very dark brown discharge. It's driving me crazy!!

    Hi Everyone!

Welcome! My date is 4/15. I too am very excited. I only have to do a 3 day liquid diet so you will be starting before me. I'm starting to think and plan for my first week at home. Gotta make sure everything is in order.
  13. Okay folks, I have almost lost 50 lbs and I feel AWESOME!! I can honestly say that I am very happy with how my body looks right now. I still want to lose another 50 but my confidence is going up everyday. I was not very faithful to working out for the first three months after surgery, which in turn caused me to have sagging skin ;( I haven't had any kids but I look like I have now because of my lower belly being so flabby!!! I work out 3-5 days a week now and I don't know enough exercises to get this to tighten up. My doctor told me that I was young enough and didn't have enough excess skin to worry about plastic surgery but now I am starting to wonder! My breasts are sagging as well which causes you to see the stretch marks, please help!! I want to do whatever I can to tighten up my mid section!! Thanks for the help!!
  14. So I haven't had a regular period in years and for most of that time they were nonexsistant. But now with my weight loss I started a very lite period oh about two months ago and now in the past three days it is out of control. I have never had cramps or back pain like this and never ever so heavy. I haven't dealt with this in years and it's kinda freaking me out. Is this something that happens often with the weight loss?
  15. I am one week postop. I was sleeved in Tijuana Mexico on Monday, June 15. I went through bariatric pal and my surgeon was dr. Jesus Lopez Dominquez. I want to add that though I was confident in my decision to go to Mexico I will admit that I was skeptical the entire time. When I set foot in the airport at San Diego to go home I knew that I had not been mislead in any way. My husband and I arrived in San Diego airport on Sunday, June 14. We had about a 10 minute wait before we were picked up. The young man who picked us up lived in San Diego and spoke english and was a very polite and friendly young man. He drove us the 20-30 minutes to the recovery house. We drove straight across the border in the medical pass lane with no waiting. The recovery house is a 2 bedroom apartment (it was a nice apartment). The BariatricPal staff worked out of the neighboring apartment. You will not be in the apartment alone. It is set up for two patients and their traveling companions. At this time, if they have overflow patients, they house them at the Hilton which is about a 10 min walk from the apartment. The difference between being housed at the apartment and the hotel is that at the apartment, you get constant and immediate assistance from the BP staff. If you want to go somewhere, they take you and have someone with you that will translate. if you need broth or other items from the store they will either have it delivered or they will go get it for you. The Hilton will not send someone down the road to buy you a Gatorade if you need one. If you are the type that would rather be left alone, the Hilton is for you. As for us, we enjoyed the staff and their company. We arrived in Sunday for a Monday morning surgery so my Surgeon came to the apartment on Sunday afternoon and gave me a complete description of what was going to happen and answered any questions or concerns I might have. On Monday morning a driver came to the apartment and picked myself and my husband up and drove us to the hospital. We were immediately taken to a room and given the usual gown and surgical hose to change into. My nurse, Karen, (who is amazing BTW) started my IV and took blood. The blood was tested there at the hospital. I was then seen my Dr. Trasvino who was the internal medicine doctor and he did the EKG and gave me the results of my blood test. He was very thorough and discussed any concerns he had about my general health. I was then visited by the Anesthesiologist. I don't remember her name but she was absolutely gorgeous and very kind and funny. They then walked me into the surgery room where there were 3 doctors, the anesthesiologist and two nurses. I was given a shot through my IV and that is the last I knew until I woke up in my recovery room. My husband had me up and walking as soon as I could get my legs under me and quite frankly I don't remember anything before 7 pm and my surgery was around noon. They did have a bed in the room available for my husband if he wanted to stay. I am kind of funny about that and we decided he would sleep at the recovery house because I really don't like being stared at while I sleep. It gave me peace of mind knowing he was resting well. While away from try hospital my husband always had someone with him that spoke english and showed him around. He even got to go to the beach which he enjoyed. I had around the clock care by nurses and doctors. The hospital I stayed in was small but was big on expertise and ability. The big thing that I noticed is that in America you have your doctor and you are his patient and no other doctors see you. In Mexico, every doctor there would stop in and check on me and make sure I was ok. I stayed two nights in the hospital and upon release on Wednesday we were picked up by a young lady who drove us to the radiology place and they performed a second leak test then she drove us back to the recovery house where we spent one more night While at the recovery house, my surgeon came to check on me and talk to me about the results of my leak test and also post-op care and answer any questions. I also saw the internal medicine doctor and the nutritionist came to the apartment and went over my post-op diet in detail. Thursday morning we were pickup and driven back to the airport a few hours before our flight. It took us about an hour to get back across the border. It was a much shorter line because it for medical vehicles. You do not need a passport but you will need either your passport or a picture ID and a certified copy of your birth certificate. I was never in pain. I was sore but not in pain. I never had any nausea and never threw up. I didn't have any difficulty swallowing. If I got the gas pain in my stomach or throat, I simply got up and walked. I never got the severe shoulder and chest pain I read so much about on the forum. My doctor didn't allow anything for 24 hours after surgery. No ice chips. No Popsicle. Nothing. Then 24 hours after I was given a Popsicle to eat slowly. They would bring me a Popsicle or ice chips anytime I wanted some. But that is all I was allowed until I was released on Wednesday. After I got back to the apartment, the staff had broth delivered to me from a local restaurant. It was the best broth I have ever eaten! Things I didn't know, that you might like to know: 1. You will be sharing the apartment with other people. 2. You can eat the day before surgery even if you are on a liquid diet. Just nothing 10-12 hours before surgery. However, you can't have cokes or too much bread product. When we went to eat on Sunday the BP staff with us was knowledgable to let me know what I could and could not eat. 3. You do pay for your own food. As patients we won't be eating much but your traveling companion will. Any broth delivered is our responsibility to buy but is very cheap. 4. Be prepared to walk. Everything is within walking distance of the apartment and you will be walking. If you want to take a taxi, you pay for it. And again that was not expensive. If you do take taxis a BP staff will go with you to translate. BP provides transportation to and from the airport and to and from the hospital. Anything else you either walk or take a taxi. But you won't be alone unless you choose to stay at the Hilton. 5. Pack sterile bandages for your incisions because they are not provided when you leave the hospital and you can't find them in Tijuana. 6. The comment "we own 2 luxury condominiums" in the initial package is misleading. They are nice apartments and one is occupied by staff. By American standards the apartments are middle of the line but clean. Absolutely not "luxury condominiums". 7. The comment "We pick you up in person at the airport not curbside like most other companies." We were picked up curbside after a 10 min wait. If I choose to have plastic surgery in a year, I will schedule it with BariatricPal. I have complete confidence in them.

    Day 8 Of This Stall

I got so frustrated I had hubby hide the scale! Now I weigh once a week. I am the type of loser that will stall for a long time, then drop 4 pounds overnight. Its crazy!! So much less stress weighing once a week!

    Freaking out!

I honestly think your RNY experience "may" be different than the sleeve surgeries? But dunno about the hernia repair. I had ice chips in recovery and the entire first day. My surgeon chewed people's asses out for not bringing me my clear liquids tray that night of surgery! The hardest part for me, because I could swallow so easily, was limiting my fluids to 4oz per hour (1oz every 15 minutes). By the end of week 2, I had no hourly limitations on liquids and now, I can easily gulp (but don't) and can easily get down 20oz in about 30 minutes--and that's at 3 weeks. I think maybe the sleevers have a rougher time of it and have more limits? Congrats! You'll do great! Follow doc orders to the T!

Welcome and congratulations on getting your band. It is very hard right after surgery. At first your not hungry then your staving then your focusing on experimenting with all the food stages and sometimes you lose weight and sometimes you don't. The first 6 weeks is for healing then comes the real weight lose time. You will be hungry but once you get on mushy's and then on to solids it does get better. hang in there you will do great!!!
  22. Glad to hear all went well and your back home. Was 1:30 the next day so you stayed over night or went home same day? I assume over night but have heard others in and out same day. Gosh I hope it is not harder than the sleeve surgery for me. I had a lot of pain and was on pain meds for 2 weeks post sleeve. I did have a hiatal hernia a very large one so I thoughyt maybe that is why. I did not have any other issue no feeling sick or anything just stomach pain from all the tugging. So I am praying it is a little easier for me. Anyway glad to hear you are doing well. I go in on the 18th for pre op and surgery on the 20th. I had put it off due to having another large deductible to have to pay again since it is the beginning of a new year. So counting the days. By the way did you have to do any liquid diet prior or just our normal diet. I will talk to my doc just was wondering what yours said.
  23. Alicha, I am 7 months post op and I am down 100 pounds. I started having a small pain ( like a 2 or 3) right under my right rib. I had feared it might be my gallbladder because I had heard so much about almost 30% of WLS patients may have issues. I called my doctor to be safe and I went in and they did ultrasound. I have very large gallstones so they are taking out my GB in two weeks. I have to say I was a little depressed having to go through surgery again. I am starting to feel better mentally now so I guess it is best to be safe than sorry I keep telling myself. I wish you a very speedy recovery and hope you are feeling better.

    1st Stall... :/

Mine came two weeks after surgery. Keep doing what you are supposed to do. It will pass.

    1st Stall... :/

I don't think it's to early, you read a lot on here about people having stalls at 3 to 4 weeks, so if you made it 6 before your first stall your doing well. Just try not to let yourself get discouraged or upset about it. Just keep your protein up, your hydration good, and your carbs down and you should come out of the stall just fine. Good luck.
