    Such an awesome NSV!

    What a fabulous NSV!! Congratulations!
  2. I took the kids to their school today for 'Meet the teacher" since school starts up again next week. We popped in to say hi to one of the boy's teachers from last year who went on maternity leave in January so I hadn't seen her since I had surgery. Well she looked at me initially with a weird look and then realized who I was. She didn't even recognize me at first!! And I worked in her classroom two mornings a week for the first semester of school so it wasn't like she didn't know me well in the first place. It was such a good feeling, kept me on a super high all afternoon. It also didn't hurt to hear from many people how good I looked since I hadn't seen alot of them since May. I LOVE my band!!!

Lynn... what a great NSV moment! I can't wait until my thighs no longer rub. I imagine its a long way off. Leslie... ain't karma a bit#H. Guess you got to go get those shoes! BTW, I know you were asking about shoes... go to a running store that sells shoes. They will fit you properly. Don't buy just based on brand or what we wear... have them fit you for your gait. Everyone walks and runs differently and different brands or shoes help compensate for different gaits. A good store will ask you to remove your shoes and will watch you walk. They will then get you fitted for the right type of shoe. Expect to pay a bit for them, but they should last you for awhile, and will save you from impact injury.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Congratulations Lynn! Both on your run and the thigh NSV. That rocks! As for me - tonight sucked!!! I stepped in gum at some point. I went to put my tennis shoes on - GUM! I warmed up and started my run - I got about half way through and my shoe was loose (Automatically thought of Bonnie). I stopped to tie it - my darned shoe string broke! There went my run! Then I changed back into my work clothes and thought I'd be productive and go to the grocery story (we have zero food in the house). Put on my flip-flops - it (one of the flip-flops) broke. Today wasn't meant to be. There was no way I was going to Wal-mart wearing heels...no way. I'm going to run tomorrow though - after I go shoe shopping. Must be divine intervention! I guess I can count tonight as 1/2 a run.
  6. thankful- welcome! congrats on your 30lbs weight loss. thats great. do you or have you tried logging your calories? i was amazed when i started doing that. what i thought wasnt much, and it wasnt as much as i ate before, still held a large amount of calories! and all the "not much" things added up. you might try that. thedailyplate.com is the one i use. you can log your exercise as well. you might try that? bandster-- did you get some sleep? i sleep so much better when my dh is home too. he works a week on and a week off. you would think after 4 years of this i would be used to it, and i guess i kind of am, but i still sleep better when he is home. i have been doing just a crap job of eating well! i have to get things under control or i am going to be sorry. oh! i have to share my nsv! so we took the kids to the Water park and i was ok! not worried about how i looked in my suit all the time. of course a few times i started to freak a little, you know, when the barbies walked by with their itsy bitsie bikinis on. or when my dh described this girl with "you know, the big tits that just walked by"....nice! and there i stand with my little girls carefully rolled up and stuffed into my suit. damn woman! but by and by it was a great day. i felt great. it was amazing to be feel that way. first time in forever!

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Oh, and that is a GREAT NSV!!!! I can't wait to go to Lagoon in Utah and ride the rides. The last time we were there, I was the carry on person....ya know....the person to carry everything that others could not carry on the rides..... I did get to go on the Haunted House ride.....and I got stuck trying to get out of my seat....the kid who was running the ride, would not help me get out...it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo embarassing.....

Mamato - Congrats on the 20 minutes. You girls (and Whosya) talk about your speeds. I run outside, I have no idea how fast (or slow) that I run. I am just focusing on doing the time. I am probably a turtle compared to you hares. NSV - A couple months ago I challenged my son to 500 steps on the elliptical machine. (I knew he would beat me and he did.) I went first and it took me 12:04. I thought I would die, I was huffing and puffing and sweating. Tonight after church I decided to do a few minutes on the elliptical machine (I missed my run today - work and church) So anyway, I did 500 steps in 5:45!!!! and was not even out of breath. Couch 2 5K has allowed me to cut my time in half. Now that is a victory!!!! So week by week, we are getting stronger and getting more endurance. On your off day, back up and do a workout from 2 weeks before and see how much easier it is. It is funny how we all moan and groan about how hard the next week is, but our lungs and legs are allowing us to succeed because we are a determined bunch. Thanks for all of your support, I appreciate each one of you.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Okay..so I bought a new bike seat, it has helped relieve the pressure on my tailbone... so far! It is the Bontrager cruiser CRZ+ It was only $35 at my local bike store and I must say the owners of this store are awesome, they were willing to let me try out a few different seats until I found the right one. I had a NSV yesterday! My hubby and I went to Busch Gardens and I was able to fit into the roller coasters with having to ask for the larger seats!! I was a little nervous that I hadn't lost enough weight yet to be able to get the bars over my chest and tummy. But they closed just fine. Today we did yard work for over an hour and did a quick ride....when it is a feels like temp of 110 degree's there is only so much you can fit into the cool down hours before the sun sets! I checked out the daily plate, that looks like a pretty cool website, however it says for my height (6 ft ) and my current weight I am able to eat 2000 calories and still drop the weight, I am not eating that much now and I am not dropping 4 lbs a week.. so I don't know..
  12. Here's hoping the 8th month yields better results than last month. I only lost 2 pounds last month despite making good food choices. I guess you could say I plateaued. I haven't exercised in 3 weeks and hope to get back next week. My blood pressure was too low and causing me to be dizzy. I have been weaning off medication per my doctor's advise. That is one big NSV though since it was my only co-morbidity. I missed my goal of Onderland by 08/01. I am still a little over 4 pounds away. Just so I make it by 09/01. I want to be under 200 when I leave for my cruise at the end of the month. I had my fourth fill this morning. Hopefully this will help too. I have been eating a little too much I think although calories have been between 1000-1100. That's what you get when you are older than dirt, I guess, and a sluggish metabolism. I can't complain though as I am down a total of 131 since I began my wieght loss journey. Keep up the good work, you guys. We are so much better than 8 month ago.
  13. Since I have been overweight/obese throughout my entire child and adult life I don't really have anything to go by to set a goal. Right now I know I want to be under 200 pounds. Once I reach that I just want my healthy eating habits and my body to direct it to where it would like to be. I don't want to force my body to a weight that I would have trouble maintaining. According to the BMI scale 145 is on the high end of normal for me, but from where I'm standing now that feels like a long-shot. So for now, my mini goal is 195; anything less than that would just be icing on the cake. My ultimate goal (NSV) is to have a healthy heart, body and mind, and I want to instill those good habits in my young daughter.

    Non-Scale Victories!!

So much to be thankful for ... my biggest scale victory was getting below 200 (yeah me!) But my biggest NSV was going to Kings Dominion and fitting in EVERY SINGLE RIDE with my daughter! I had a teary moment as I walked up to the old rickety wooden coaster she loves so much ... that was apparently built for people who weigh 102lbs or less ... and I realized I was going to FIT IN THE SEAT!! This is freakin' awesome!!
  15. Kittykoo ~ My sincerest condolences to you! A few months ago I lost my motivation as well ... I stopped visiting this site, stopped monitoring my daily intake, stopped focusing on losing weight and instead focused on maintaining what I had already lost ... then I started gaining and I realized I needed to somehow get myself back on track! First thing I did was get a fill ... I obviously needed it and it certainly helped. Second thing I did was came back to this site and I make it a point to visit daily just to read up on whats going on with everyone else. Theres nothing more motivating than browsing through the "Before & After Surgery" picture thread or reading about everyone's NSV's. I also make it a point to post my daily menu in the "Share What You Ate Today" thread ... kinda sorta keeps me accountable for what I eat everyday  You have come so far with your weightloss already ... you are so worth the effort to keep on going! Best of luck ....

Tell us about your summer NSVs

Ok...so today I had to bring my car in for some body work. I'm pretty excited as it was beautiful for the first time in weeks. (no humidity, under 80!) I walked to the gym, worked out for 30 minutes, walked home (2.5 miles) and then used the treadmill for another 20 minutes after I got home. My real NSV isn't that I worked out as I do it regularly, it's that I actually JOGGED in public. I didn't do so for the entire way home, but in intervals, as I do on my treadmill. I have never felt comfortable doing it in public, which is why I bought my own treadmill. I know I still have a way to go with the weightloss, but I am finally feeling comfortable in my own skin---even if it hangs more than it should! Now, if only I could find clothes that I like for summer to take to Aruba in October, I'd be ecstatic!!! I'm still battling between plus sizes and misses sizes for pants. Any suggestions for good places to buy a few skorts? The Avenue is too short (I'm 5'10") and Lane Bryant doesn't have any more.....(Why is it that everything seems short on me NOW? I never had this issue at size 22 or 24!) I'm worried this trip will be ruined, not from feeling lazy and like I don't want to participate, but because I don't have anything to wear! I don't mind spending money. I just want it to be worth it!!!! Ideas? Suggestions??
  18. Hello Ladies and Gents, How many of us have bought a pair of trousers that you have not tried on first??? My trousers that I did not try on came from Ebay, I bought them for work but they were beyond tight so I relegated them to the back of the wardrobe! I tried them on now and again but they never fitted and then I really starting putting on weight. Any way it’s near laundry day and all my regular trousers are getting a bit big, pulls out the abandoned trousers and low and behold they fit perfectly! SCORE! Now wearing said trousers! Whoop Whoop! KiKi XX Hope you are all having a good day!

    Shamrocks Weight Loss to Date!!!

Glad to see all are doing well, keep up the good work. :wink2: It is wonderful that we have this forum. I read but don't respond much. To date of have lost 70 pounds and down 2 sizes. I have a long way to go, but enjoying every pound that comes off. Have had lots of NSV. Fitting into a airplane seat and putting the arm rest down, still need the extender but it is inches away from being gone. No more extenders for the vehicles. I am 57 pounds from my personal goal of 250. I can now see the light at the end of this long dark tunnel. Regards, Donna

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits

Georgia-Hopefully this fill will be the one to get you to the 100lb. mark by your bandiversary! What's the process if you have a leak? Can it be repaired or does your band have to be replaced? Nip-Glad to hear from you. I tell all of my friends and family of your progress all the time! Ally-Congrats on your NSV!! I've stopped relying on the scales for my true progress. It was driving me nuts. Funny thing is, I've weighed less in the past and wore larger sizes!!! So the inches make all the difference. Keep up the good work! And I hope you feel better soon.

Ok I finally had a NSV. We have horses but I normally do not ride. I always felt sorry for the horses having to haul my fat butt around. Anyways even when I did ride I couldn't get myself up on the saddle. Either someone had to help me (my hubs pushing my butt up there) or I had to get a chair and hope the horse did not move while I was halfway up. So my hubs got the horses saddled up and said c'mon we are riding. He got a chair for me but before he could even get it to me I had swung my leg up and over and Voila, I was up. I got up so fast, in fact, that I almost went all the way over, lol. I guess I thought I needed to get the old me up and I am the newer me. It was a great feeling and we had a great ride. Yeah me!!
