Total Stall at 2 months post op

Ok, will try to answer some of the remaining questions- no, not taking any pain meds, only allowed Tylenol these days and that does exactly nothing for me so I use alternating heat/ice ..elevate etc.. to deal with knee. Getting MRI tomorrow and should know more. As far as water at work, we are a manufacturing facility of medical parts- we have one small cell that deals with chemical finishing that should not have water in/near those chemicals- the rest of the plant is just regular machining, inspecting, shipping/rec. They decided to unilaterally punish everyone in the plant minus the office staff up front by removing all drinking abilities (water, tea coffee, whatever ) and we only have water fountains at both ends of the facility and one in the clean room. I myself only do computer and paperwork, have no chemicals near me (nor does 98% of the plant) but they made up some bullshit OSHA rule about not being allowed to have drink containers of ANY kind out on the floor. It is cruel, inhumane and I'm looking for a new job, not just because of the lack of hydration but the mandatory 10 hrs of OT they've been shoving down everyone's throat since May of 2018. I still am able to walk and get around, but I'm slowed significantly because sudden changes of direction could cause more damage, kneeling or stooping is impossible at this point, and stairs are risky bc the knee wants to go it's own direction without notice. My husband used to ask me to slow down my walking and called me a "sandpiper" bc I always walked like I was on fire or something. Now it takes a long time to get anywhere and it's frustrating to me. When your mobility is changed for any reason, it's a frustrating adjustment. As far as lifting my arms, do that all night long. My arms never stop all night long. Just want to be able to enjoy (and trust my legs again) so I can walk around, garden, go shopping, etc without pain and restriction. Don't want to be hurt right now. If I've missed a question- please forgive.
  6. I am really sorry. No advice, but I am in a similar place. Sleeved on 10/29. I'm nauseated 90% of the time and have reflux 100% of the time. Luckily, I haven't thrown up yet. I just feel like I need to. And I can eat less now than I could about a month out. Just got off the phone with my doc's nurse and looks like more testing is in order. As I was crying and saying how much I regretted this decision, she told me "This is not my life, this will pass." I just need that to be my mantra for now.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

May I have at least a weak,Oo- Rah? Very very proud of you, remember you owe us all a picture of you when through, if you turn chicken(perish the thought!) you can always PM me one, okay? 2-3 days out, very little pain , drove my son bonkers, kept exposing my belly, couldn't still believe those truly were incisions, thought Dr Needleman drew them on with a thin Red Magic Marker, tapped them gently with a gloved finger, still not much pain , wonder if they gave me some sort of nerve block? When sensation came back approximately 5 days out when the small skin blood vessel started bleeding under my skin until it looked like I was carrying an alien baby in there, it was more itching and prickly discomfort then. Until I started stenosising and ulcerative in there I was much less painful than anything else, that' when Precious Pouch started upchucking even more than when OSU makes a touchdown and I was having so much right subcostal pain, thought Dr N had killed my liver, kept looking in the mirror for my sclera to turn yellow with jaundice. And ThAt's a Tornado tail I'm still riding, to paraphrase the Flintstones commercial " Two months 23 days and Still pumping". Good news for me I'm going from 12 to 10 hours, smaller TPN bags, fewer calories, and I am supposed to try p.o. 2 oz either soft squishy carrots and such veggies or 2 oz protein chewed to an gray gelatinous mass every 2 to 2.5 hours. Bad news I now have a viral infection, nonA, nonB influenza, positive blood cultures x2, adult thrush because I am now immunocompromized, since I don't visit bariatric again until March 26th for my (Whaaa,10th) endoscopic examination of my esophagus, RnY pouch with stomal structure anomaly, jejuneal(2nd intestinal portion) with its not yet perforated, not yet bleeding ulcerations. Tra-la tweedle dee dee, if I had planned to be this special I would have perfected the Miss America wave better. But you know I will get through this all, at any case my PCP says let's cure this problem first then you can join their little diet, planning. So endoscopy 3/26. follow-up 4/12. what then ? PICC line removal? Rejoin the eating race? Resume the weight loss, cause right now I'm at a near stand still, 3 pounds one month, 6 pounds then other, but when the PICC line was inserted I immediately regained 12 pounds I had lost from malnourishment and dehydration. This may be a straight trail but there are barbed wired lines, on each side. Are they also electrified? Not touching to find out!

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I am very excited! Today marks 17 pounds away from onederland! I'll pick up 30 of my favorite garments taken in by seamstress tomorrow. It will feel like a new wardrobe! Now I'll have something to wear besides my tired and true sweats and T-shirts! Although I love those, too! 10 weeks out from surgery adjusting well to food intake, vitamins, water - but the high protein is beginning to cause inflammation in my joints with a history of lupus SLE. Previously protein was only ¼ of my diet with little dairy, thus years of a wonderful remission. I will need to tweak protein sources without the daily intakes of 1% milk, low fat cheese, whey protein shakes and lean animal/bird meats (easier and convienent) which all translate into inflammatories for my body. All is good though. Remaining patient with the natural ebbs and flows of the process to reach a healthy weight! ;]

  16. I had my surgery jan 22 2018, I am about to be 13 months out. (34year old, 5'7) What a journey. Started at 402lbs, a weight I now can't believe I had. it's crazy and unreal. My skin DOES reminds me that "hey you had that weight" but I am trying to have less floppy skin I wish I worked on it before but it's fine. And maybe tmi but also working on my breasts so they are less in a sad shape. I don't necessarily eat well and I probably eat less that I am supposed to but I am proud. 13 months ago i was at 323.4lbs, today I am at 187.8, sometimes i gained 1-4lbs, then i lose it back and lose some more. I only really had one plateau that lasted a month, i had some plateau that lasted a week or even two but after weight somewhat catched up, losing in general from 6lbs to 10-12lbs per month, I still got a few to lose to not be in "bmi overweight" but i am no longer in obesity. I am focusing more on my skin then my weight loss. I wouldn't say surgery changed my life, but yes it improved it. I sometime see myself bigger then I actually am. I am still afraid to sit in booth thinking I won't fit... yet i fit with space to go. my shirt size went from like 3x to M or L. picture of day of surgery at 323 and now
  17. I start this process last year. I was denied twice due to my thyroid level. I have surgery date of 3/28/19. Hopefully I will I get a approval again. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

    ❤ FEBRUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

DAY 19: I'm behind a couple of days. Exercise- Up early to get an hour of aerobics and strength training in. No junk food- Need to be careful. Had some chex-mix, that I had way too much of. Threw the bag away. Day 18: Write about someone you need to forgive. I need to forgive myself for allowing negative comments to affect me. Years ago a friend asked me: Why do you keep dieting, it's not working. You should just accept that you're "heavy." Her comment hurt my feelings for months. Looking back, I'm glad she said it. No, I do not have to accept being fat!!! Her comment started me to thinking about WLS. DAY19: A positive memory- being able to put on a pair of jeans at Christmas, that did not have an elastic waist! I zipped and buttoned those jeans right up!👏

    6 month post-op weight loss

I wish the first words my surgeon said to me after the op wasn't “you’ll never have to diet again!” I’m still angry- what a ridiculous comment!!! ... I’ve had a steep learning curve since my op on 31/10... overall weight loss to date is 49lbs... and each day I’m trying to figure out what really works... I’ve cut right down on carbs to about 20g... I try to get a minimum of 60g of protein... I’ve dropped calories down from 800-900 to 500-700. I don’t eat more than 3.5oz of protein at each meal and don’t have much room for veggies... I eat pickles - beetroot, gherkins and pickled onions with my meals - approx 1.5oz... it’s taken me this long to start ... eventually ... to get into a groove! I’m a slow learner! Next focus is to increase water - I drink about 50oz which I need to work on! It’s so hard all the time... I have to keep away from all snacks or sliders ... I can easily eat them mindlessly... I follow @FluffyChix’s posts as she has the right AR attitude that I need to keep me on track ! It’s as hard as hell but we will all get there if we can keep in the zone 🤗

    It was NOT gas pain.

Oh my goodness! I went through the same painful experience 1.5 weeks after surgery! 😩 Surgeon’s Office told me it’s just gas pain....I said well after 2 days of constant abdominal pain and 2 nights without sleep I’m going to the ER! CT scan revealed mesenteric vein thrombosis and spent 4 days in hospital. Gas pain my a**!!! Now on blood thinner for 3 months and quite a few extra doctor visits. Yes, I agree if your pain is at a 10 or doesn’t feel “normal” for you, get yourself to the dang hospital! You know your body best!

    Bypass tomorrow and scared

I was really scared, too. I mean, this is a big surgery and it's ELECTIVE - not like an appendectomy that you don't have a choice about. You are opening a whole new chapter of your life - one that will change you forever in a very good way. Hang in there! Walk through that door to a new life waiting for you! The volunteers at my hospital make little firm pillows for helping with coughing and moving - like getting out of bed. See if they have something like that - firmer than a regular bed pillow. My little pillow was my best friend for about 10 days! Also - wear your compression stockings at home if you have varicose veins. I ended up with superficial thrombophlebitis in my varicose veins which is very painful. It would have helped for me to wear my stockings more.

    An honest update. Weight Gain

I hope we all find the motivation to get through this. I have been seeing a counselor already, my surgery is Feb 26 and thank you for sharing this. One of the things I have discovered in my counselling is that, the habits that caused me to gain weight were as follows :- 1. A partner that loved to eat out alot and not work out. For I am a follower so if I have someone who loves eating out and yet has a metabolism that burns it off. Well I'm the one disadvantaged. 2. Work, often stressful situations at work led me to eating comforting food, a latte and muffin and lunch, a chocolate bar here and there. 3. Calorie counting, and being around people who are constantly mentioning the calories in a food, led me to be embarrassed in eating food at work. 4. Partner does not like alot of foods that I liked and grew up eating. And being someone that doesnt like to cook alot, i choose to eat out with my partner. 5.Not drinking enough liquids and often dehydrated pain felt like hunger pain. My solution we came up with my counselor:- 1. Preplan meals and have it on my fridge. 2. Learn to say and offer to eat at home . 3. Read up on obesity related complications, such long effects of diabetes, heart disease etc. GUESS kind of like scare myself to discipline. This seems to work for me. 4. Don't eat when I'm stressed. 5. I have bought a dress that I have placed on my wall in my room as a reminder of what I want to fit in at the end of 2019. I hope some of these may help, but hang in there.. I hope things get better. Sent from my SM-G950W using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. Guys, I am so happy to say that I have a positive update and one that might help other women in the 45 to 55 age category who are going to do VSG or in the process of having had it and experiencing difficulty getting weight to move. I am very hard on myself. While I was not being perfect on my journey, I have a tendency to always feel that if something is not going right, it is all my fault. I was a food addict for so many years and did everything wrong that I almost felt like when my weight plateaued and then stopped and then I started to gain weight that it was just because I let myself down. To cut a very long story short. I had a gynecological emergency about a month ago and ended up having to go through a bunch of tests. It was discovered that I was producing next to zero progesterone and my estrogen was also extremely low. It was causing me SO MANY problems which I will not get into so that I will not digress from the main point. As a result I was put on hormones and almost immediately I started to loose weight again! I have lost 10 lbs since I started taking hormones 3 weeks ago. The reason why is that hormones have a major role to play in weight loss and weight gain. The reason why I was gaining and not loosing was not because I was being so terrible in my disciplines but because the lack of estrogen and progesterone, the total imbalance was actually causing me to GAIN weight. So I am working with my doctor now to see how HRT may be able to not only help my perimenopause/going into menopause issues but also to help bring better balance to help the weight loss process kick in further. I feel like an entirely different woman - I cant even articulate it the difference in overall feeling but certainly the fact that I have lost the weight I had gained and now back to making the scale go down instead of up. You can read my previous thread to get a better context of where this post is coming from. If you are having similar struggles and are female in the age range of 45 to 55 it might be well worth your time to have your hormone levels tested and see if hormone therapy can help you get balanced again and improve your weight loss. I am just one lbs away from being in another weight bracket and after not loosing for 4 months I feel like a million bucks There are many articles and information on Google that you can look up and research regarding hormonal imbalance and the role it might be playing in extremely difficulty in weight loss, especially in women of a certain age. I am just putting this out there for your consideration in case you are a woman like me that may be struggling in this area and not even know it. Talk to your gyno and get your hormones tested. I will soon post an updated photo when I hit that next weight bracket
