  1. Ok. not really. but I always assumed I might have gotten a lil shorter because years ago I went from 34 to 32 inch inseam on my pants. This is a NSV because i need to go back to 34 inch inseam because I can wear my pants higher up my waist, where they should be.
  2. I had decided to not shop for a while. I figured it had been summer, and why buy new capris/shorts, only for them to not fit me next summer. I've been using belts to cinch them up and keep from falling off! Anyways, I finally decided to go shopping yesterday to buy a new dress for a religious convention we have this weekend. I couldn't believe I fit into size 14 and 16's (without the W), when I had been wearing 22/24. That was a really good eye opener for me. I hadn't been losing as much these past few wks than I had previously, so I was not quite feeling down, but not really 'seeing' a difference in me. Boy oh boy did that change yesterday!! It felt so good to buy 2 cute dresses (they were on clearance!) and feel good in them. I tried them on for hubby last night, and he was like "wow!" I even bought a few new undies & much needed bra's. So everyone - go shopping! It can really help to show you the difference you've made, even if the scale isn't showing it as much. :wink2:

I have two NSV's to share this morning: #1: I am out of town right now, and as I am walking up to sign in to my motel room, there is a surveillance camera monitor right next to you. You can see what they see. It was the weirdest thing, it catches you from the behind view. I looked at it, and immediately thought, "who is that"? I looked behind me and realized, IT WAS ME!!!! How cool is that???? I smiled and realized my ass is sooo shrinking... man that will never get old! LOL!! #2: Ok, what could have turned out to me a major disaster, turned out to be so liberating for me. When TOM calls me, I always fall off the wagon. Well, he's calling and like a zombie, I went straight for the salty chips aisle. I bought a full size bag of Doritos as always. Yes, I can eat a full bag in a matter of two days. Well, I was going for the gusto, and before I knew it almost half the bag was gone. I thought consciously that, I really couldn't even taste the damn things anymore. So, I sat there feeling defeated because so far I've had a freaking good month. I started to feel fear in my heart, because I made a goal of 259 by March 31st, and I am so damn close to making that goal. I immediately took that bag, violently crushed the chips inside and took the bag to the sink, filled it with Water, poured the water out and threw the bag straight in the trash. It felt so good to do that!! Mind you, it had been over three weeks since I'd eaten one solitary chip! Well, I start today with day one (again), but a new sense of relief from this addiction! Woohoo!!

MY DREAM IS TO WEAR JEANS AGAIN!!! I am an apple (thick waisted) and that's not going to happen for awhile. But, my NSV is that my yoga pants are loose and I am waiting for the day they fall down. For the last 7 years, the only slacks I can wear have elastic waists. I started this journey in Nov and wearing a 3x and heading soon for a 4x. I put on a 2x the other day and it hangs on me. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! Doing my six month pre-op diet and I get days where I am in a slump. What pulls me out is not so much the scale but the way clothes fit me.

Congrats Donna and Babe I am happy for both of you. I have a new NSV to share, I took pictures over the weekend at home to play with my new camera and printer and these happen to be the first I've taken since being banded - I couldn't believe my eyes, I said "WOW" when I saw myself, I could actually see my own weightloss and I didn't see it before, I actually thought that I looked smaller almost a version of skinny (in my mind). My husband and kids kept saying of course you look smaller you have lost a lot of weight. I know i've brought a couple of Junior sundress but "WOW". I can't believe it either and I love exercising now too. It's funny how our lives change. Let's keep up the good work, we are on a roll! This is for us:thumbup:

First NSV for clothes for me. I couldn't find a bra this morning, so I finally picked up that bra that never fit me even when I bought it, but I was going to lose weight so it would fit...I bought it two years ago. It fits! I never thought I could wear it, but it was so cool I wanted it anyway. TMI, but it's zebra striped with a long pink bow down the middle and lace trim around the edges. It isn't even tight around the strap. Last time I tried to wear it I couldn't get it snapped and that is with all my excess fluff draped around the edges completely covering the straps on the side. It isn't even tight on the sides now. It's on the second hook!!!!!!
  7. I don't see a thread under our month for NSV's. But althought the scale hasn't budged we shall all have Non-Scale-Victories! My NSV scale dropped...BMI dropped...it is unofficially at 39.1 BMI. I would not qualify for the surgery....if insurance was paying for it!!!!!:crying: but will know officially on fill appt at surgeon's office-keeping that as my official weight-ins. What NSV do you have to share with us?

Okay, so mine isn't really a NSV but it made me feel soooooo goooooood that I had to post. :lol:So yesterday I went and got my first fill and I'm all excited about starting to lose weight, that I'm just giddy. Well, as I'm on my way back to work, I happen to come up on a car wreck. It had already happened and the police and fire truck were clearing the roads. So how about the 2 cuties in the "backseat" of the firetruck were totally checking me out and waving and smiling!!!!!! :drool:HMMMM....FIREMAN:drool::tt2: That just completely made my day and I was giddy the whole day!!! :sneaky::thumbup: I had totally forgotten what it was like to be checked out in a good positive way!! It kinda gave me back my spunk I had been missing!!!! LOL

New NSV for me! First off -- nobody has commented on my weight loss. Granted, I saw my parents a month ago and I had only lost maybe 15 lbs then. So I figured that either it wasn't noticeable, they're not paying attention or they didn't want to say anything because I've lost weight before and put it all back on plus more. I saw my brothers last week; no comment there either but OK, they're my brothers. My co-workers, well, I see them every day so maybe they wouldn't notice. My DH, obviously I keep him informed already of my loss. However, today I saw my co-worker's husband for the first time in several months. After making small talk, he said, "Did you lose weight?" I cracked up because my co-worker exclaimed, "That's rude! You don't ask people that!" But I just said, "It's fine, and yes I have." Woo hoo, somebody noticed! Not that I'm doing it for anybody but me, but it was nice to hear!

4jin: NSV's are what keep me going from day to day. Here are a few I've had recently: I can wrap a normal bath towel around after a shower. My legs don't look like tree trunks anymore. My fingers look long instead of looking like overstuffed sausages. My favorite is that I have collar bones. They showed up about twenty pounds ago! I look forward to reading these posts. It feels good to read others NSV's.

This is exactly my NSV as well. I have this super tight black pair of jeans that I could barely squeeze my big butt/gut in and I tried them on last week and they actually fit nicely. Another five pounds and they will be on their way to the clothing exchange!

Hey fellow VV's. I have quite an interesting NSV to share today... It was the strangest feeling but, as I am at work today :gag:, I was sliding all around in my chair. I noticed a significant difference in the way my chair slides with me now. It is so smooth and quick, where before, it was quite hard to maneuver. Embarrassing to say... Wow, it mostly the little things that happen, that make you realize your body is changing - for the better!
  14. IT is scary, however, with that said, it is also an exciting time in your life and you are sensing the potential change and as humans, the majority of us hate change. The unknown and the so called "faiures" in the past are scary too! This is normal and you have to decide who is going to win the battle. Are you doing this for others or are you doing this for yourself? Perhaps you are doing it for both others and yourself. For once do place yourself in front and take a day at a time. As you lose, you will start to see and believe that you can do this. You will feel better, will look better, and will discover small joys that you have never thought of...the NSVs of life when losing weight. remeber this is a process and you are going to have to work the process for you to succeed anyone thinking differently is only fooling themselves. Remember too that there will be bad days, days of struggle, days of self doubt, days of frustration and perhaps disappointments. You have to be able to put them into perspective, lean on those that you can or find folks that you can count on...many do not have reliable support sources in their lives so they seek support on areas such as this one. Either way can work to let you know that you are not alone and that in and of itself can be comforting. We are here for you as we know you will be here for us! I wish you success, luck and the joys of being a bandster!

    Grrrr so angry at myself!

Not banded yet but will be in 3 1/2 weeks. You are doing great. Lots of weight loss since january. Just a thought, have you checked your NSV's. Even though the scale hasn't moved you could be losing inches. They say 1 to 2 pounds a week average is normal. Everyone hits times that the scale don't move. Like guy said you are doing your part you just need the band to do its. Remember you didn't gain the weight in 1 day and you can't loose it in 1 either and 1 bad eating day is better than 365 bad eating days. Your avatar picture looks great and keep up the good work. Keep us posted on your progress. Greg
  18. Do your research. Make sure you are ready to make the necessary lifestyle changes to be successful. If you need help with food addictions start therapy now. i second what was said above about tracking your food and fluid intake. Follow your doctors and or nutritionist eating plan. A positive attitude is helpful because there will be some tough days. Make a list of all the reasons you are having surgery and a list of NSV that you are looking forward too. This will be helpful when you are having a tough day. walk as soon as you can after surgery as it is the best way to get rid of the gas.

    Finally Feeling Better.

Fabulous NSV's! I loved the process of change as the weight came off. Every day does get a 100 times better.
  20. Thanks for starting this post... I too start my morning with a Protein shake- EAS low carb is my favorite. Grandma- I eat salad as well because I feel icky when I don't get my veggies in- I sneak protein in them with Beans or tuna or chicken (no mayo)- for dressing I use balsamic vinegar and some oregano. I'm not a superstar in the weight loss but I have been slow and steady and even though my scale isn't showing it I recently dropped another pant size and notice such changes in things like the way I fit in seats- so remember to look for NSVs too!
  21. Today, I was getting dressed for a day around town and as I pulled my size Medium tissue T by Mossimo for Target over my size 10, fit 4 Merona for Target jeans, I didn't like the way my shirt looked outside my jeans so I finally thought, how will it look tucked? I tucked it in and it looked -insert drumroll here- GREAT!!! It's the first time I've worn a tucked in shirt with pants without a jacket to hide the bulges since the mid 90s! Yahoo!!!!! And I still have 42 lbs to goal. What next - a belt? And I wore it all day with sandals and at the end of the day my feet were not screaming for mercy! With nearly 50 lbs. less of me than last summer, I can actually wear the cute sandals I have in my closet instead of my uber-support shoes. Do you think my family will notice if I just wear this outfit night and day for the next week or so while I cackle madly with glee while wagging my tushie around and swinging my sandal-clad feet? I love you sleeve- I don't care if I have to eat more Protein than I want, swallow handfuls of supplements twice a day, and force down a Protein Drink every night- you are worth every bit of it! Lynda
  22. As with many people, I do not like to take pictures--to do so is like a broadway production because I have to do several takes just to get one I can tolerate to look at. Well, I went on my Valentine Weekend getaway and took a look at the picture on the right--my body has changed--people have been saying it, but the picture is really worth a 1000 words after 4 1/2 week post-op. My victory--I have a neck!!! ( I'm the first one in the picture to the left) As for the scale--after being stalled for 2wks, the scale moved--down 3lbs since last week.

    body dysmorphia?

I have similar feelings. After having lost 57 pounds since Jan all I can see is my new turkey neck, bat wing arms, saggy stomach, and jelly thighs. I am ecstatic about the weight loss but still have 43 pounds to go and hard to picture what these areas will look like then. I never realized how much gravity can affect us. I am already saving to take care of these side effects . The good is that I have had a lot of NSV's. Can now take a bath without getting stuck getting out, I can sit in a chair with arms, my clothes are all falling off, I have a lot more energy, can walk up my stairs without getting winded, the list goes on.

    NSV for last night

Last night I went to the Oakland A's game, which my family is big fans of and.... I fit in the seats! I just sat down! I didn't even think about it until about the 4th inning and I started to realize that I wasn't nervous about which seat I would be in and would it be wide enough for me. The stadium chair wasn't digging into my thighs and rear. I just fit! Even though we tailgated before hand and I had more fritos than I have had in 6 months, I still fit . Oh, and today is my 6 month bandaversary. Down 65 lbs. Life is good. Love my band and my new life . Have a great day everyone!
  25. So, went shopping, and the pair of pants I wanted they didn't have in my size. In fact, they didn't have it the next two sizes down from me, either. So, for the hell of it, I picked up a size 5 just to see if I could squeeze a thigh in it. Guess what? I bought them! HA!!!!! I am NOT a size 5, but I can wear these pants! I can't pull them up on my hips as far as I can my other pants, but I can button and zip them, sit in them, and bend over in them. I HAVE A PAIR OF SIZE 5 PANTS!!!!! I am still smiling about it! I'm going to wear them this weekend on date night - make myself feel extra special! Love my sleeve!!!!
