    August Exercise Challenge

oh ceradad - that makes much more sense. i had an appt as well w/my PA this am, and well i need to eat more...so i had .2ccs taken out. i ate more yesterday than i had in a while, and todays workout went well w/out me feeling like a SLUG. today - 1 1/2hr trainer sesssion: 40 min run/walk (5min run/1min walk - so on) plus ladder drills & sprints afterwards back/shoulder weight training - apparently i have bad posture; so "we're fixing that"....:smile2: ab routine PS - ceradad - great year, really!!! & for me ...i dig the NSV's just as much as scale victories...congrats!

    August Exercise Challenge

Oh heck no! I couldn't do that, I'd starve. I just take a couple during the day to make sure I get enough protein. For the amount of exercise I do, my PA and I agreed that I can eat a little more than most bandsters. Plus, the nutritionist I dealt with pre band said due to my size and the amount of muscle I carried even be surgery, I needed more protein. Now, she did think I could get all of that with just diet alone, but I didn't think so. So, I "cheat" a little and use a Protein powder mixed w/water for my "snacks" instead of plain milk. Today's exercise: Upper body workout with 12 rep circuits. Damn near killed me.:smile2: Then, 65 minute on elliptical and 15 minute run on the treadmill. I had my 1 yr check up (actually 51 wks, but PA is on vacation next week) so I have to work the late day shift today. Figured I'd just do it all in one swoop. As mentioned, I had my early 1 yr checkup today and I've lost 103 lbs since the surgery date last Aug 28. I lost 23 lbs alone on the 10 day liquid pre op diet. So, I maintained a 2 lb/wk weight loss.:hurray: And that is with only losing about 5 lbs in the last 2 mos. I've been concentrating more on gaining muscle the last couple of months. And then, for an NSV, I had to take my new uniform shirts back in to Streichers to get them tailored. I actually had to get them "V"ed because they were too big in the abdomen area and just about right through the chest and lats/back.:cheers2:

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I am amazed over and over about how supporting this March group of Shamrocks has been to each other since we 'met' in early 2008 when we found out we had March surgery dates. Your many blessings and wishes of peace and comfort were tremendous and I say thank you. I did eat a crazy diet these past days but I don't think I've gain which is a NSV for sure. I do believe stress makes our bands and restriction tighter but I found room for a donut this morning before the funeral (ugh!!) and a dish of ice cream (at least it was only 1 scoop) before the funeral calling hours yesterday. Okay Fenton, we both have to get back on the wagon or whatever saying the English or Parisians say to get our butts in line again with eating. I'm starting tomorrow when I wake up and start a new day. Again, many thanks for all my Shamrock Support!

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!

I'm not feeling well, so I went to the doctor today. The bad news is that I have an upper respiratory infection (Yuck!). The good news is that I had a NSV! In the past, they have always had to use a larger blood pressure cuff on me. It's always so embarassing b/c they try the regular one and it doesn't work on my fat arms. They have to go find the one larger cuff that they have in the whole office. But, today, she used the regular cuff on me, and it worked! Yippee! If I would have felt better, I probably would have jumped around the office.

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Ya'll I vote for a Avenger's Cruise! We'd get all kinds of cabana boys, shows, pools, beaches...it'd be awesome! I didn't mention the food - but food (ah, my weakness in life). Bea - I'm like you, big boobs, small waist and big hips. I was blessed with an hourglass (nothing like tootin' my own horn, when you got it flaunt it baby!). I'll never ever be skinny. I'd kill to have a Sophia Loren figure - or something close. I hope you enjoy your girls night out! I agree with mom - don't worry about the blowup. DH and I had a HUGE fight Monday night. He decided I couldn't go to the gym in the mornings. HE DECIDED!! Hell no. I'm not anybodys puppet. For 8 years I got the girls up, made breakfast, got ready, got them ready for the bus, double checked everything...well, it is now an inconvenience for him. They dress themselves, eat breakfast at school. All he has to do is get them up and out the door. URRGGHH I was so mad at him! He said that EVERYONE was happy when I went at night to the gym. I wouldn't get home until 8:00. I then had to cook dinner, help with homework, do some laundry, give the girls their baths, get them to bed. All of this by 9:00. NO WAY!!! Then of course I had to clean the house, dry the laundry, fold it, get my lunch ready for the next day, have sex with him and try to go to sleep. OK I'm ranting now...sorry. It seems to him I was happy with this arrangement. WTH??? I'm not superwoman! Mornings are so much better...for obvious reasons. He has since changed his mind. I haven't been that mad in a LONG time. Mom - go to Walmart and try a couple of things on to find out your size (just the tops - I wouldn't try on the bottoms, no telling what you might catch). Then go online and order you something! DH loves cut-offs and tight T-Shirts (You can tell we're southern - lol)...he likes those more than anything fancy. Of course he loves high heels too! Nurse - that's an AWESOME NSV!! You go with your sexy self!

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

Hello all! :cool2: A weekend away? So, I'm not a mommy, but I enjoy tropical wonderful-ness too! I'm in Missouri, so it can't be THAT far! Anyway - tomorrow I go get weighed in at Jenny Craig - I did really well this week, so I'm hoping that the scale moves in the right direction. Okay, so I KNOW it will, considering I'm on my scale multiple times per day. I'm hoping to be about 235.0 according to their scale. (Mine was 235.8 this morning.) I have done SO well with working out this week - every day!!! Tomorrow I'm taking off, but I'm going to a spa to get a body wrap. They help you tighten up the extra skin - so it's not a permanent thing, but man, you feel so good during and afterwards! Plus, I'm dustin' off my singing chops and heading to karaoke tomorrow night with this guy I like - hopefully he'll see my singing prowess and be blown away! Just as a side note (and more info than you guys probably need to know! haha) but today I was shopping with a friend and I found this fabulous red and black negligee - it was ridiculously sexy...but only in a 14/16. It was on sale from 50 to 20, so of course I bought it, thinking that it would be too tight to wear any time soon, but at least I would have something by the time I lose a few more sizes. WELL... I came home, tried it on and IT LOOKS GREAT!!!!! :tongue2::w00t: Talk about a NSV!

    Daily News!

congratulations you guys! you are doing great! i'm learning a lot too. and can sometimes eat a lot more than other times. i seem to have lost my restriction since the last fill 2 weeks ago. i don't understand that - next one is 9/15. seems like that will be a long wait! vacation was fun and i while i did eat higher calorie choices (eating out 3 times a day), we did get a lot more exercise than usual. so i was hoping it would nudge me down some - but the scale is the same today. not up (good), and not down. greythope, hope your husband is back before you know it! and i'm sorry about your family's loss. good luck with keeping busy and keeping your mind off food! long, that class sounds GREAT! i would love to have that around here. we have a monthly support group and it's not focused - just a freeform type of thing. we do have monthly individual nutritionist appointments. my last one was very good and that was before my last fill. i think the next one is going to be a more in depth discussion on what i'm eating - as i was losing about 1.25 a week at the last visit - not lately that's for sure! a great NSV - my 1 pair of size 20 pants (from 26 i hate to say) are loose! and knowing the scale isn't budging but i've up'd my exercise, i'm hoping i'm toning up my muscles and maybe gaining some to offset the fat loss. i hope! my rings are looser too. the darn scale tho. back to work today and i just want to eat and eat. nope. that's old behavior. no more. better get back to it tho. bye for now!
  10. Hello All, I just wanted to check in. I guess I have not posted in more than 30 days. I do not want them to boot me. Things are going well for me. I am down over 70lbs now!! I have had several NSV. I think my two favorites that happened in the last 2 weeks were 1. I fit into a size 15 jeans. 2. I can now take my hubbers clothes and wear them. I go in for another fill next week. I am excited I am getting close to my "sweet spot" My family Finally noticed I have lost weight!! that made me feel good. (they do not know I had the sx) Kathy, I am so sorry to hear about your stepfathers death. I am thinking and praying for you and your mom. I am sorry that the post is so long winded. Is anyone else getting filled next week?? Keep being losers

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

"Oh, a lovely NSV: one of the little ones at my school today didn't think my last year's picture (on my ID) was me! I told him it really was, but I was trying to get healthier and had lost some weight. He nodded his head wisely and said, "my mommy is always on a diet, too." These children are so adorable! Next year, I hope to look even less like my ID photo (that I just had taken a few days ago)!" This tale made me remember that my school ID pic is to be taken next week, 1 week before me getting banded and I have decided to turn my weightloss into a lesson for my class and take my measurements with ribbons and compare as the time goes on. They are 6 year olds and are bubbling over with interesting and relevant questions, which I am only to happy to answer.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Kathy, you are right about the PB's. But I do think it is entirely my fault. Either the bites are too big or I am not chewing well enough. It always happens on Proteins (ground beef or chicken---one time it was deli roast beef). This is the first time I tried fast food (and it was just a burger, w/o the bun and all the carby stuff---just a few little pieces of lettuce and a slice of tomato), and I thought if I was careful, it would be ok. I do eat at restaurants a lot with friends, but usually have fish or something easy to handle. I am trying to get better at this, really I am! LOL! Indio: I think you are correct. I am not sure if the bite was too large (I doubt that, as it was really small), or if I didn't chew enough (I think that was the culprit), but my goodness, you would think I would learn this lesson, wouldn't you? I am so phobic about deli roast beef that I tossed a bunch of it. However, I did make some roast beef in the crock pot (very, very tender), and it is just fine, as long as I chew well and take small bites. Oh, a lovely NSV: one of the little ones at my school today didn't think my last year's picture (on my ID) was me! I told him it really was, but I was trying to get healthier and had lost some weight. He nodded his head wisely and said, "my mommy is always on a diet, too." These children are so adorable! Next year, I hope to look even less like my ID photo (that I just had taken a few days ago)! Nancy

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!

Hey Everyone! Just thought I'd share some of my recent NSV's: I went shopping in Lane Bryant yesterday and picked up a pair of pants they had on sale dirt cheap thinking "yay, they've got one left in my size" then I realized I dont wear a 24 anymore!!! I completely forgot for that split second that I am down to an 18/20! I was hit on twice in the same week. And so what if one of the guys worked at taco bell....atleast he has a job, LOL!!! Seriously though, it always nice to know someone out there other than your hubby thinks your cute, right??? I started going to the gym two weeks ago. It used to take me thirty minutes to walk a mile. I am down to a 15 minute mile-and can jog about 1/3 of the way! I know most healthy people can do it in half that time, but I am thrilled at my progress so far and know it will only continue to improve. I used to feel like I was gonna die just walking up my flight of stairs to my apartment. Yesterday, I walked all over the mall, walmart, and the outdoor outlet stores with no problems!!! I :mad2: MY BAND!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

PJ: I've had grilled steak and pork chops, but they were not too dry. Grilled chicken is often too dry---when I added a bit of salsa, it was ok. Before the salsa (the day before), the grilled chicken got stuck after a few tiny bites. You will probably be ok with grilled meats, as long as you take tiny bites and chew carefully (and it is not too dry). Long: congrats on the NSV! I love it when clothes get to big, don't you? Speaking of stuck, I got stuck with some shrimp scampi that I made. After a few small bites, I felt this pressure in my chest and it was not gonna happen anymore! So, I have leftovers for today. We'll see if it goes down; if not, I'll just toss it. Getting used to just throwing it away is hard for me, but I am learning. Nancy

    Twenties NSVs

NEW NSV!!! Even though my scale isnt moving my clothes are still getting smaller. Im so okay with that! But here's the news: I CAN WALK IN HEELS ALL DAY! As of TODAY I am an official Gap size 18! "Falling into" the Gap has been a major goal of mine. Really an obsession. I have officially been evicted from the shoe section at the Avenue. I have been loving the Cloudwalkers for the last few years, my shoe collection is full of the things. Having never had wide feet, I was getting away with just buying a size down but now even the next size down is fitting loose. Its bitter sweet because Ive been eyeing a hot pair of sandals and half of my shoe collection doesnt fit anymore.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

NSV = Non Scale Victory I'll have to be careful about the left over meat. So far I haven't had a problem or if I have it wasn't left over and because I ate too fast or too big of bite. I'd love to do a Hawaii cruise. We did them in opposite orders.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Excuse my ignorance....but what is NSV.....a victory....awsome on the pant size. By the way, I buy lemon flavored vitamins from Bariatric Advantage....they are good. I just ordered mint flavored chewable calcium from them. YOu can set it up to have them sent every 90 days and the shipping is free. I want to go on an Alaskan cruise, but first I have booked a cruise of the Hawaiian Islands in April. I have a goal of losing 75lbs before the cruise. I am going to do it!:mad2:

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Why can't you eat leftovers? I make extra all the time so I have some leftovers for lunch and also take those doggie bags home from restaurants that my doggies never get to see as they are another meal for me as well. I had a wonderful NSV today!! Before my Alaskan cruise in May my jeans were too tight and EGADS I had to go buy a new pair to take along in a size 26!!! That's the largest I ever bought. Well they were too big a while ago, then 24's, too big, then 22's too big today. I tried on some 20's I bought 2 years ago with tags still on in my closet because 'I was going to lose weight' AND THEY FIT!!!!!! Not even tight!!! I can't wait til Lane Bryant gets no more of my money!! A few more sizes!!

Personal challenge between HP and D!!!

Great job!!! I havent weigh this weight I am now since I was 18.....yeah....20 years ago...and heres another NSV that happened awhile ago, but was great all the same.....my wedding dress is too big!!!! Yep, too big....it is a size 20...I was not small when I got married. I am smaller now that I have ever been since my hubby has known me....and let me tell you, he likes it:tt1:
  20. I cowgirled up and went to the Dr. for my fill yesterday - and I laid it out for her. She was so great and gave me some encouraging advice. I told her about how I seem to be able to fit into smaller clothing but haven't lost a single pound and I am feeling fustrated and like I'm going nuts.. She told me to consider it a NSV and celebrate it and not to worry that the scale will follow. Essentially she says that my body is repositioning as I'm toning up (thanks to my new passion pilates) and that this is a good thing. We also talked Protein. Admittedly I've been pretty bad about this and have been focused on calories and fat and not as much as protein. I find it difficult to count anything when I tend to eat things that don't have labels on them, so I just try to make good choices. Anyway, she recommended the Isopure drinks so I'm not taking in a ton of calories but will be getting a good dose of protein. I'll have to go pick some up today and see how it goes. Thanks to everyone!!!

    NSV (Non Scale Victory)!!!

Congratulations to everyone on their success so far! I've noticed a few positive changes myself similar to what some of you guys have said: 1. Chairs that used to be snug I now slide into. 2. The seatbelt in DH's pick-up used to be very snug - it's now LOOSE! 3. Lots of clothes that were too tight a month ago are in the Goodwill pile now because they are way too big. 4. I've had to move the seat closer to the steering wheel in our SUV and our smaller Honda feels roomy now where it used to feel tight. 5. Shaving legs & other areas (blush) is getting much easier! Haha Can't wait to have more of NSV's to post in the months to come!!!!
  23. My advice...put the scale in the attic! Judging by your clothes is going to make you happy! Let your doctor weigh you and you celebrate your Non Scale Victories (NSV's) by those clothes being very loose and falling off. I've gone from a 22 to an 18 and even the 18's require frequent "pulling up". Seriously, destroy the scale!
  24. I generally stick to my monthly thread but thought I'd put this up for everyone. I will say that my band has been my best and worst friend over the last year and a half, but earlier this week I was able to wear my sister and my 17 year old neices JEANS! This is a major NSV... and it almost brought me to tears. My neice can't even fit into the jeans I wore, and so she GAVE them to me.......... they are 11/12 Aerostatle (sp?) My NOW pic was taken yesterday on my sons first day of Kindergarten... looking at the pic.. HE IS WHY I'M DOING THIS! To be the active, hip, and normal sized mom! The before pic was taken April 1, 2007 and I weighed in at 272 lbs, yesterday I was 177.....

    Feeling Human Today

Glad you are feeling better! I wish I could go to mushies, I still have to wait 11 more days, argh! I can't wait to chew. I did have an NSV today that made me not feel so sorry for myself. I was down a size in clothes, I needed new pants and was pretty excited when I went down a size!
