I don't think so. I do the same thing. I'm a 16/18 now and have clothes in my closet down to 12. In the end I would love to be an 8/10 so for my birthday a couple weeks ago I bought myself two really cute dresses in my goal size and have them hanging in the front of my closet for motivation. (or are you saying u want to lose enough weight before surgery to fit in the jacket?)

I was just wondering if anyone had soreness in their legs, it almost feels like my skin hurts. Not from walking/working out. Just feels kind of weird. I had my surgery May 10, and I'm just concerned. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have not been on this site for ages and thought I would visit some old friends. I am three years post lap band and am down 173#!!! I will add a new pic when my kids get home!!(incapable me). I feel and look like a different person. I am more confident, more physically active and strong! I do kickboxing, spinning, as well as the elliptical, etc. last summer I got up on water skiis, something I have not done in over 20 years.iI went zip lining twice, wave runners in the Bahamas, all the things I longed to do but was too embarrassed or too big to try. My best friend bought me a pass to the local amusement park in Cincinnati, knowing I am dying to fit on all those rides again. Hope the old lady's inner ear thing is not an issue. I really don't care. I am going! If nothing else, I hope I am a role model for my children, to NOT put the weight on and to take it off when they are 10 pounds over, not 180! UGH! Be persistent and keep trying to live a healthy lifestyle! Stay active, it feels great!Peggy

Dear all, I am really so happy to find this forum. I was sleeved in 9 December 2019 in Germany and everything was so perfect for me so far. My Dr told me that after two months i should reduce the pills of PPI slowly. i really did so. It is my fifth month so far and i cannot reduce for more than one pill 40mg for each three days. I really tried a lot but it does not work. in the third day i start feeling some slight pain in my stomach and others i have slight pain in my tonsils. Anyone had a similar story? i am really afraid of having a chronic GERD and then converting to bypass. A last question is about weight loss. since two months my weight loss is very slow. It is a kilo and a half or two kilos maximum. Does it mean that i will not reach my goal? I was 146 kilo. Now i am 114 Thanks a lot

What's up with the hernia repair?
Bell1138 replied to JMinDallas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had a hernia repair and I was self pay, my surgeon did it for free, but if your surgeon is on your insurance plan then your insurance will pay for it. The hernia repair has not be great. I have so much restriction and I only have 2cc's in a 10 cc band. My surgeon told me that the restriction is coming from the hernia repair, he said that a hernia repair on its own will give you restriction, and then having the band, and having 2cc is giving my the restriciton I have. I do not eat very much in one sitting. I was banded 4 1/2 monts ago and I have lost 45 lbs. I just wanted to let everyone know that they should not be surprised if they feel restriction after a hernia repair and band surgery even if they have little or no fluid in the band. -
I can choke down any water...however I like the Dasani, Ozarka and Smart Water the best. Kroger had the 20 ounce bottles of Smart Water on 10/$10 and you get 5 free. Normally they are $1.50 each..or more..so I bought 30 bottles and I will be going back tonight to get 30 more. I am trying to drink 120 ounces a day so that is 6 bottles a day. I may have to get more...

Hey Everyone, Just needing to get thoughts out there. I'm a revision from band to sleeve. I've had my band removed and hopefully I will have sleeve surgery this summer. I'm going through all the motions for insurance approval. The time between is giving me alot of time to think. I'm excited for the chance to finally lose weight successfully. I'm excited that maybe for the first time in my life I may possibly fit in "normal" size clothes. I'm excited that maybe....just maybe....with the weight loss I can maybe have children. I'm excited for the opportunity to not ache, not tucker out so darn easy, and just feel good for once. And I'm also scared.... I'm scared of failing. I felt like a failure with my lap-band (even though I did have issues with it, even my surgeon said he won't even put them in anymore because of the complications many lap-band patients have), but I can't help but be scared of failure because I've failed so many times with trying to lose weight. I'm nervous too... I've never been "normal". I was a 10 pound baby...so I've been fat since birth. I have no clue what it's like to be what you would call normal. I don't want to say thin because I don't desire to be thin, I just want to be at a healthy weight....and I have no idea how that feels. I was a fat baby, kid, teen, and now adult. I have no real idea what life will be like. I know it will have to be better than how I feel/look now, but the unknown is scary. Thankfully my husband is very supportive, but I get nervous that he won't want to be with me anymore if I do lose alot of weight. He assures me that he doesn't care what size I am because he's in love with me, not my body (smart man...lol) but I can't help but have these fears since we began out relationship with me being the fluffy gal that I am. Sorry for the long post....there's alot rolling around in my brain. I know that surgery is the best option for me, my doctors have been very encouraging, My mind just like to run emotional marathons....too bad my body hasn't. haha. Reading through the forum has always been helpful and encouraging. Anyways...thanks for listening to my ramblings.

20 Weeks & I'm half way there!!!!
DebH replied to Taterbugsmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I so enjoyed reading your post. I was banded 10/25/10 and have already had two fills. In the past 6 weeks I have had many ups and downs, but fortunately have not regretted my decision. I am very impatient though, and I was so happy this past Thursday with my second fill, when I finally felt some restriction. I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I am feeling this full by eating so little, my head is telling me that I have overeaten, when I know that I haven't because I am writing everything down. I certainly hope that in 14 more weeks I can be as close to my goal as you are. Way to go! Keep up the terrific job! -
I'm still waiting for my surgery, but have you tried parmesan crisps? I'm someone who craves more salty/savory and they can really hit the spot sometimes. My favorites are everything bagel flavored from Costco or Amazon. Only 160 calories for 19 crisps, 1 gram of carbs and 16 grams of protein!

Well I am 10 months post Sleeve and just came back from a 2 week vacation to see 5 of my grandchildren. I was worried about the 15 hour flight (they live in Korea), eating strange foods and the challenge of bringing Protein to make sure I keep on tract. I knew I wouldn't be able to stay on my weight loss diet (2 shakes, small meal and 1 snack) but I was able to work around the meals the family were eating. I brought individual packets of Protein powder shakes and stuck with a shake for Breakfast each day. I learned several things on this trip. Rice can get stuck just as easy as bread (every meal in Korea has rice). I cannot let myself get caught up in the moment when eating (I over eat when the food is so good and the company engaging). Walking is the main way to get around and I was able to get in 8-10k steps a day (which is why I believe I kept my weight stable) Now I just have to get in the habit to walk more every day. Well, now I am home and it is time to get back to loosing the last 30 lbs to hit my goal.

Hi I had surgery last Monday, 3/19 and have lost 11 pounds so far I did everything right yesterday. 89 g protein (protein shakes, mostly), 605 cals, 34 net carbs, 5 sugar (watered down Gatorade, per surgeon), 30 min on the treadmill with my heart rate at about120. My surgeon has us on full liquids after day 2. My guess is I just need to be patient, but does anyone see any room for improvement? Perhaps getting the carbs down? thanks

Anyone doing weight watchers with there band?
neesh replied to neesh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So did you start WW since your almost at your goal or did you start off with it. I just had surgery 10/13/09 so I don't know what do you think. -
Wow, you have lost 10 lbs per month! That's great! Here is a little reality check, people are more interested in themselves and seldom pay attention to what others are doing. And if they are paying attention and criticizing you, then kick um to the curb and move on because they are not a loving part of your life. You will lose more weight and have less loose skin to boot! It will happen, just give it time. Now it may be time you start eating adult food though. Like lean meats and lots of other Protein based foods. Try to avoid sugars and carbs for a while. You should be at a stage where you can eat regular food now. I eat a lot of chicken, fish, pork and beef. I will then eat a little bit of veggies if i have room. The baby food you have been eating may have too much sugar and is also processed. I try to stay away from processed foods as much as possible. Hope this helps.

Hi - just had my one week follow with the Doc since my port tube was repared. He didn't have to replace it but the tube did have a significant hole causing the leak. He put 2cc's in my 10 cc band last week. I need to go back in a month to get my next fill. I'm back feeling restriction which is great. Keep us posted on how your progress is going .

Hi, I am having trouble staying on the 10 day liquid pre-diet. Also, I'm almost sad to not eat candy out of the work candy dish - but I'm not eating it. I didn't realize how much that meant to me, which I find pretty weird. Unfortunately, although I'm not eating anything really bad, every day I eat something and I'm supposed to be on liquids - cottage cheese or a piece of low fat cheese. I have lost since Friday, but I just want to make sure I can do liquid before being banded on Feb 2, so the post op liquid 10 days will not be so hard. So yeah, I definately know what you mean!!!

I have become so tired of protein drinks too. But I know we have to have it. A friend told me about Nectar unflavored protein. I was sorta sceptical, but thought I would try it so I got a jug and tried it twice today. I was amazed that I could not taste it. I put 2 scoops in an ice coffee and 2 more this evening in sf cho. soy milk. It was good too. The vit are awful and the nut at the surgeons office was telling us about one that is vanilla flavor, so I got some of them and they are not as bad as the fruit flavored one.I try my best to not smell the protein or vit. Make sure to wash your mouth out really good after taking the vit. Make sure what food you do eat is high in protein, I think chicken is your best bet. I wish I could help more. Maybe if you have soup you could try adding the protein to that. It is 10 gms a scoop so you would not have to have to many scoops to get in enough.

Good evening all my fellow sleevers, and sleevers to be... I have been reading a lot of the posts on this site, and although there are many people here that offer positive reinforcement to others, I see much, much more of the self negativity. If you stop and think for just a second, who is your biggest cheerleader? Who is your biggest fan? YOU ARE!!! Too many people speak too much negativity into their own spirits about what they can't do or think they can't do. My mother (God rest her soul) always said to me, "Don't tell me what you can't do, tell me what you CAN do". All of us have very difficult struggles ahead of ourselves, whether you are pre or post op. We MUST starting speaking more positivity to ourselves. We need to tell ourselves, "Yes I'm going to make it through the next 2 weeks of a liquid only diet". "Yes, I'm going to walk for at least 10 minutes everyday". Everything you say to yourself should start with, "I can or I will". ONLY POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS!! If you tell yourself, you can't, you won't, or even I don't know, its not going to happen because you're beginning with a defeatist attitude. Speak positivity to yourself, say it out loud so your brain and your subconscious hear you claim the positive affirmation. You will be shocked when you realize how strong you really are, but you've always started the race 2 paces behind the pack because you started doubting yourself before you even got started. Start building your "new self esteem" NOW! You won't have time later on because you'll be too busy LOOKIN' GOOD!!! You CAN, You WILL, I CAN, I WILL... Let these words be your mantra. Just remember fear and self doubt bring failure and disappointment. We have all experienced too much of those in our lives already. Remember this... "Insanity" is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Let's start today doing something different, expecting a POSITIVE result! Thank you for your gift of time!.... Michelle

I was able to get into a size 14 at around 200 lbs and I am 5'7 1/2''. Right now I am at 170 and am in mostly 10-12's with some occassional 8's. I was in 16's from 205-230 and started at an 18. Every person's body is different but I think you should be in a 14-16 by 200. I still need to lose 10 more lbs at least to be in a solid 8-10 instead of a 10-12. good luck to you. ~Liz~ 03/10/06 241/170/160 5'7''
