    Happy Loser

what are you doing to loose weight. are you on a special diet?
  2. Hello all! Today was my first official fill after over 4 years with no adjustments or check ups on my band. I was walking around with 5cc's thinking that my band had nothing in it at all. During this time, i'd been pregnant, given birth and nursed my son for over a year. So, today the doctor gives me a fill of 7cc's and it was too much--I threw up the barium. So, he removes 1cc (yes I had to pay $375 for 1cc, sucks for me right?) and leaves me with 6cc. But, I have not been able to drink anything, i'm even throwing up my own saliva! How can 1cc make this much of a difference? At 5cc I was able to nourish a baby for 9 months and nurse him? At 6cc I cant keep down Water? WTF? So my question is...do I go back and get this 1cc removed or give it a day or two and see if it adjusts itself. Would I be dehydrated by then? Or...do i go back and ask for a .5cc out? Let me add--when i was pregnant--I had 5cc's in my band and gained only 12 pounds the entire pregnancy. My starting weight was 265 and the lowest Ive weighed is 210. Right now i'm at a hefty 233, the exact weight I was upon giving birth. Banded in August 2002 in Mexico with Dr. Sanchez. I have an 11cm bioenterics (sp?) lapband. Thanks people! I appreciate the advice...
  3. Ok, here is my dilemma, My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 11th, Pre-op physical, labs, surgeon, etc.. on Sept 3rd, and I see the nutritionist next Wednesday Aug. 28th to start my 2 week pre- op diet. My surgeon wants me at 350# before surgery. Today I was 351#s on my home scale and of course at the doctors office it is always fully clothed and there is usually a 2-4 pounds different (higher) than home. I do want to have a few "last supper" meals and I planned on getting it out of my system this weekend, but I'm really contemplating if I should or not since I'm hovering so close at my needed start weight. I want to be at least were I'm at now when I see the nutritionist on Wednesday..... any advice out there???? Seems like this should not be a hard choice or big decision, but I have so many things running through my head with surgery rapidly approaching that I could you your thoughts. Eat or not eat???

    weighing on carpet?

Move you scale around the house and see if there is a difference. My scale weighs me 5# less on carpet. At one weight loss center, years ago they put a piece of wood between the scale and carpet and stated that it weigh correctly. Barbara
  7. I had my surgery on 7/20/2015. I was a size 20 in pants and now I am a size 5 to 6. Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App That is awesome!! My clothes are getting to big for me. I'm down from a 4x to a 2x in tops. I wear about a 22 in pants. I was a 28. You can message me if you want. Anybody can. Well have a good day. Talk to you later Sent from my Z959 using the BariatricPal App That is really good. You will continue to loose a lot of weight. One advise that I will give you is to not go crazy buying new clothes. Because sometimes is a waste of money. I used to buy a outfit and only used it once. And my husband use to get so mad. Lol. And yes you could message me if you like. Have a nice one! ❤ Fredjuni❤

    Surgery in Mexico?

Thank you. I did forget the other "s". I was able to pull it up. Also, how did you put the weight tracker in your posts? I made one but I don't know how to add it to all of my posts. Thank you so very much. You were very helpful.

    Going for surgery consult

Edna, I was so nervous when I went to my surgeon so I know exactly how you feel. They say I have 85 lbs to lose but its more like 95 - 100. 85 lbs puts me at the high range of the weight scale. Hang in there and just know that God is with you. HUGS !!!
  10. Thanks for the reply! You have lost weight...Congrats! I am married as well (8 yrs), no children, but 2 fun loving dogs:) Has your post-op gone like you thought it would? I am having a hard time with the pre-op diet... UGGH! I love junk food!!!! Are you having trouble keeping food down after these couple months? How long did it take you to get back to your daily life after surgery? Too many questions??
  11. Ok, so I am 4 weeks post op tomorrow. I lost 9 lbs on my 3 day preop op diet. Then lost 13lbs post op and gained 4 lbs back. For a total of 18lbs. 9 lbs pre op and 9 lbs post op. Why am I not losing? The scale hasn't moved in over a week. I wasn't getting enough water in so I have been diligent about increasing my water intake. Some help please! Starting to think I am gonna be the small percentage that fails. Also I work 12 hour night shifts 3 days a week. The other days of the week I'm a day shift person. Some days I am up all day and then go to work and work all night with only a short nap in between.
  12. How much are you eating 1 year out? Do you just eat meals or do you have a snack time too? How do you deal with head hunger too? Just trying to not get stressed but want to continue losing or maintain. I'm 100 pounds down from my heaviest weight but I'm short 4'0". I'd love to hear some other people's eating habits a year out. TY! Sent from my SM-S903VL using BariatricPal mobile app

    pre op diet??

Chelsea i was thinking the same thing. i am getting banded on Wednesday, and I rememeber when I took his seminar he said that there would be a 1 week liquid diet before surgery to shrink the liver. When I scheduled my surgery 2 weeks ago he told me to eat normally, not to gain weight and do an all liquid diet the day before surgery. Good luck. Let me know how everything went.
  14. But it's not 2 oz. by weight. It's two oz. by volume. That's 1/8 of a cup, if you need a visual, btw. I am trying to get some variety for my pictures. I'll do a bunch of stuff tomorrow, whether I eat them or not and then make an album.

First "fast day" of 5:2 plan

Vets don't recommend the 5:2 to people under a year out, we recommend your Docs plan...but I'm not your ma so here goes. The 5:2 is not specifically a weight loss plan, but a longevity plan. Keep in mind this is in the Vets forum, and anyone under a year out is not supposed to post there.... http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/291240-52-links-and-info/ The 5:2 worked/works very well for me. After years of not reaching goal, I lost some regain(22 pounds) and then got to goal. Watch the link to the show that started it if you haven't already. Best of luck to you!

  17. Hi - Even before having lapband surgery (Jan 9, 07), I wanted to try B-12 shots to see if it helped with energy. My primary just gave me my first shot, but said that it might stimulate appetite. Of course, I don't want to do that, but I've waited so long to see if B-12 is helpful in some way that I proceeded with it. I'm not losing much due to "soft food syndrome" (ha!) so I figured now was the time to try. Did it stimulate your appetite? Did it give you more energy? Any other benefits from it? What are the usual reasons people get B-12 shots? Etc etc Also, I posted on the lapband support board about solids not being solids and being back to self-control. Not losing weight now. Lots of foods I thought would cause restriction slide on through and it was quite an unpleasant shock. Even though many bad behavours have stopped, eating lots of Protein is still keeping me at a standstill with the weight loss partly due to having to get a grip on reducing carbs. I still can't believe I'm not losing weight since I have had so many improvements. Others of you must have this problem. Any comments would be appreciated and I'm new so I'm just getting used to which boards to post under. Sorry if this was a repeat of what you read on the other board. Thanks!

    So disappointed

How many fills have you had? Well my sister who had gastric by pass has gain about 100 pounds back! I have had three fills with my LB and I have lost 90 pounds since June 29, 2009. I do not even work out that much. You may want to go in for a check up. Best wishes imaluckydog

    Regrets? ?

I am also 3 months out, no regrets whatsoever. So much energy, weight loss, looking better, feeling great and gaining confidence. But I follow all the NUT directions, no sampling things I shouldn't ever eat again just to see how my pouch reacts and very strict with taking my vitamins every day too. At our surgery Ctr support group last night I was actually dismayed to hear how so many people are cheating on their food. My reasons for surgery are permanent life style change, not a quick way to lose weight. One lady in support group is 4 mons out and she's smoking again and had the sleeve. A big NoNo and could potentially be fatal, she's crazy.

    F*cking up!

Fear not! Stalls are a normal part of any weight loss journey. The two previous posts have great advice but I would add, try to spend some time with your feelings. Why are you feeling down? Is it just the weight loss stalling or is something else going on that's "feeding" into it. Depression is a common issue for many of us who have and are struggling with weight and when I'm feeling down I always have used food as a source of comfort. The only difference now is that I can't do the same level of damage I did before I was sleeved. Lastly, look for some NSV's like your cloths being too big, measurements getting smaller, easier movement, etc. to gauge your progress. You are in the midst of a huge life change and it's really only the beginning. Love yourself for your courage and determination! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  21. Yeah, all kinds of little things can affect your weight. When did you last eat? When did you last have a BM? Are you retaining Water? How much have you had to drink? I also weigh myself every day, because I just can't HELP myself. :C But I try to always weigh myself at the same time of day: first thing in the AM, before eating, before showering, after peeing lol. That helps even SOME of the variables out. And if it goes up a little...well, it happens. Take a look at how little you're eating. Tally up how many calories you're consuming. You'll realize there's basically no way you CAN'T be losing, whether it be pounds or inches!

    2 months post-op

Thanks! i feel great! ....My insurance did not cover this (they also did not cover my VSG). I originally was going to wait for plastics until I reached my goal of 150 lbs and then maintaining it for 6-12 months. However, I kept losing weight passed my goal and I just couldn't deal with the skin and all...
  23. Well I didn't start seeing a lot of weight loss until my fourth month and then it took another four months to see anymore. I've lost in total after 1 year 130 lbs. it's not gonna come off right away I thought that too lol but it's well worth it you will see a decent amount of weight loss in a couple months I was 285 now I weigh 155 so just stick to the diet they gave you it may take a while but it's well worth it :-)

    Cheating

I was put on a 4 week pre op diet, and the first 2 weeks went by not to hard at all, but the second two weeks oh man they were awful, i got just so bored having to eat basically the same thing over and over again, I hate eating the same thing like that, and then also the list of foods i was allowed...i didn't really like most of the veggies so it was really hard.. My surgery is on tuesday, and i've lost more then the required weight that they wanted me to loose so hopefully my cheating i did (was on the weekends when i was out and about mostly, and one of the days having to waitt 7 hours at the airport cause my mom's flight got delayed....ugggg cheating with gross vending machine sandwhichs just sucked but me and my husband were so hungry) doesn't hurt to much since i still lost the weight....but I know i should have been good, i just wish i had only had to do the 2 weeks that would have been so much easier cause it went by so quickly and i did so well those first two weeks.... They put me on the slim fast diet for the 4 weeks, had to do 4 instead of 2 because of how high my bmi is....unfortionately i'm not that much of a chocolate fan...(I mean yea i like chocolate but not as 5 meals a day...thats just overboard) .so yea slimfast products are like almost all chocolate especially the bars....i'm suppose to have 5 slim fast products a day including bars and shakes, and then i can eat 1 small meal, of 5 oz of lean meat and 2 cups of veggies. I guess the slimfast diet is better then just a liquid diet...but it still sucked.....I just started getting so sick to my stomach eating those dang slim fast bars, some of them are ok, when your craving a candy bar, but other then that, its not a meal fix its a craving for a candy bar fix......i found one of the shakes at least that i liked the cappacino one, but only suppose to have 2 of the meal items a day the other three had to be the 100 calorie basically candy bars...with only 1 g of protein, i don't know what thats suppose to do.......and reading about the surgeries getting cancelled cause the dang liver didn't shrink enough, it just seems pointless i don't think i would be able to go through with it again if that happened.....i'd think it wasn't meant to be, and i'd be extremely pissed....I may have cheated some, but i stayed away from mostly everything i was suppose to stay away from, i traded some of the meals with similar calorie and higher protein items, and for the most part stayed within the 1200 calories, and i didn't touch a soda not once, and i lost 5 % of my weight like they required plus an extra couple of pounds......so regardless of my cheating i think i did good, so yea for all who cheated....damn it we need food to live, we're not alcoholics who don't need the damn alcohol to live, but we need the food to live so its really alot harder to give up i think we have it the hardest of any addiction, you can't just stop eating.....you need food to live....so be proud of yourself if for the most part you did good, or you think you did good, and other then that, well screw it.....i'm just kinda rambling right now...its 2 in the morning and i don't usually stay up this late so who knows if what i'm writing makes any since...but anyways just a ramblings of a girl who wants a baby and is getting her stomach cut out to hopefully get pregnant......so anyways good luck to all you pre ops out there, don't give up, try to stick with the damn awful pre op diets....and keep your heads up high, and be proud of yourself for doing your best and taking this next step into a healthy better happier longer life

    F*cking up!

I allow coffee in my regular diet but I do account for anything with calories I put into it. If I drink 200 calories worth of creamer thats 200 calories I don't eat. Be careful with that, because coffee additions alone can be enough to halt weight loss if you are not paying attention. Three weeks isn't a crazy long period of time, so you should be able to get back in the saddle without too much upheaval. Hell, right after surgery I had a three week-long stall. We were sleeved about the same time. You'll get there, just put a stop to this before it goes too far.
