Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?
OKCPirate replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
Two eggs, mix in some onions and mushrooms, two pieces of turkey bacon, 1/4 cup of Fage yogurt with some blue berries. I always assume that Breakfast may be the only meal I get in a day, so I make it count. -

2weeks post op and not filling full ?
mizzvickie72088 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so I'm 2 weeks going on 3 weeks post op, and I'm not feeling full. I'm still on cream soups and jello and next week I started my soft foods. For example today for breakfast I had 3 tablespoons of Greek yogurt and a protein shake, then for lunch I had jello and another protein shake, and then went to Panera and had broccoli cheddar soup in a bowl size to go and I ate the whole thing and was still kinda hungry. Is this normal , will this change once I start eating my soft foods ? I hope some one that's been through can give me some get advice cause I'm kinda worried -

Most days I have cottage cheese. I've tried cereal but I just don't feel good after eating it. Other standards are a protein shake or greek yogurt. I have slways been a breakfast eater. I am certainly not proud of the crap I used to eat for breakfast. -
@barbie1978. I'm making it. I have to remind myself multiple times a day. I went to gnocchi yesterday and was able to get the clear isoprene drinks. They were on sale buy one get on 50% off. I am on the clear liquid diet for a week. Then I will move to a full liquid diet. I'm hungry. I'm reminding myself about why I am doing this. I see my doctor tomorrow. Hopefully he will allow me to move on. My incisions are itching. I think I may get Greek yogurt also.

Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?
Kindle replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
On work days I have a large travel mug of coffee or tea for breakfast. Sometimes, if I need to get gas I will grab a muffin or cinnamon roll or breakfast sandwich at the gas station. Eat 1/2 of the muffin or roll or just the egg and meat out of the sandwich. But more often than not my first food on a workday is a Quest bar around 10:30-11am Weekends I always have breakfast, pretty much whatever I'm in the mood for, usually a high Protein option.....omelet, protein pancake and sausage, Bob's Red Mill 10 grain cereal with Protein Powder, bacon and cheese, Greek yogurt with flax seed and Kashi go lean cereal, etc. This morning I had a scrambled egg with cheese and salsa and 1/2 grapefruit. -

Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?
Djmohr replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I always have had breakfast. Before surgery I would usually have a yogurt and a giant delicious homemade muffin. chocolate chip was my favorite. I always have breakfast now. Usually it is a premier Protein shake but occasionally I will have cream of wheat, oatmeal or I will make homemade crepes (extra eggy) with sausage. I cannot eat eggs by themselves so I sneak more of them into things like crepes. Occasionally I will have cottage cheese pancakes with a couple strawberries. 99 percent of the time I go for the shake. -
Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?
wannaBthinsoon replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
Same as many of the others....Greek Yogurt generally. On my days off I may splurge and actually "cook" and make eggs some kind of way and share those with the hubs. Or on days I just don't feel like eating I will drink a RTD Protein shake. Those are lifesavers! -
Yes...... Used to often he McDonald's. My doc stresses how important breakfast is. I always eat it. Now, normally Greek yogurt.

ok so...how is everyone feeling??!!?? Officially 2 days post op (i'm still in awe of the fact that I AM BANDED again, finally).... This time for me was so much easier. I was a good 22 pounds heavier the FIRST time (july 2009) and what a huge difference in how i felt waking up, and the first few days. I've been walking like crazy, went shopping for more broth, Isopure and greek yogurt....i do get tired out very easily, but other than SLIGHT soreness, i'm feeling fricken amazing.

Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?

Never miss it. I almost always have Greek yogurt with a few fresh berries on top, but if I'm in a real hurry, I'll grab a Protein bar and eat it in the car. -
Some say Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. They say it boosts metabolism and provides extra nutrients. It keeps you from being as hungry during the morning, so you’re better able to make healthy eating choices the rest of the day. It gives you energy to be more active. And, it can give you a good dose of that all-important nutrient – Protein. Still, breakfast isn’t always the top priority for everyone. We may be too busy to cook, or too rushed in the morning to sit down for this meal. Or, it can just be too boring to make eggs every day, or grab a container of yogurt on the way out the door. Do you eat breakfast every day? Did you used to, or did you start when you first started thinkg about WLS or even after? What do you usually have for breakfast, and how do you make sure you have time to prepare it every day?

Partyfood ideas that qualify as purée food!
Inner Surfer Girl replied to ocgirl15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a dip fan. You could do a Greek yogurt and/or cottage cheese based dip. Hummus is also really good. Even a baked cheese dip might be a good consistency. The ricotta bake and/or a layer refried bean dip also might be a good idea. I happen to be one of those people who have no problem eating dip with a spoon! -
@@nurse43cat I did a lot of plain Greek yogurt fortified with powdered egg white and stevia drops. I also found i really liked ricotta cheese with a little bit of pizza sauce and shredded cheese. How long are you being kept on purees?

My date is December 30th I'm currently on day 5 of my pre op diet. I can have 80grams of Protein from shakes only. I can also have broth and one cup of veggies. Fruit and Greek non fat yogurt for a snack is also okay. Not sure how much I loss so far but I'm doing okay slight stomach rumbles but nothing I can't do.

Surgery on the 30th. I'm not doing well with puréed protein at all. Can't seem to hold it down. I went n bought Atkins protein shakes great deal at Walmart. One lasts me a day or so. One of the girls told me to add sugar free pudding to the yogurt so I'm going to try that. Down 23 pounds

Calcium question
catwoman7 replied to delibeanjelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like both Bariatric Advantage chews and Calcet Creamy Bites, but they're both kind of pricy so I just have one (or the other) after dinner as my "dessert". For my earlier in the day doses, I take either generic tablets or mix a scoop of Upcal D (a powder) into some yogurt -
My son is a chef, but he didn't inherit any cooking skills from me. Here are some cooking tips from a fellow single guy: - Crock Pot - Buy a basic (under $20) crock pot and make large meals that can be broken up into many portions. For example, I bought 3 pounds of boneless skinless chicken breasts this week and cooked them in the crock pot along with onions, peppers, mushrooms, chicken broth, and tomatoes. The chicken came out very tender. I portioned it out in 8 oz pyrex containers. Some went into the freezer and the rest went into the refrigerator. - Microwave / Toaster Oven - I eat salmon several times a week. I buy frozen individually packaged wild salmon from costco and it can be cooked in about ten minutes. Preheat the toaster oven, microwave the frozen salmon for about 2 minutes and then broil the salmon for about 8 minutes. Leftovers can be used for lunch the next day. - Blender - I use a blender to make Protein smoothies. unjury Protein powder, frozen berries, unsweetened almond milk, flax seed, and ice. I try not to buy processed or canned food if at all possible. I stick mostly to fresh and frozen foods including salmon, shrimp, chicken, eggs, mushrooms, peppers, spinach, sweet potatoes, greek yogurt, and berries.

Carbohydrate intake?
BLERDgirl replied to retzlpa's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Like everything regarding diets and weight loss, ask here and get a million different answers. I wasn't given a carb limit or number. I was given a calorie range. Along with my protein and fluid goals that is the only limitation my nutritionist gave me. I do not eat low carb and my NUT doesn't push it. However I do pay close attention to the source of my carbs. Plant based carbs I don't worry about. I avoid "white carbs", like those found in breads, pastas, white rice and refined sugar. I try to eat as cleanly as possible. No "diet" food . On the occasions I use butter, I use real butter. However those occasions are few and far between. I buy plain yogurt and add my own fruit. I eat whole plants and grains. I am never constipated and have been losing steadily. -
Day 3-21 my post op diet says liquids and puréed fruit only. Why not puréed veggies, too like sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes? Why only fruit? Seems like a lot of sugar intake with yogurt milk and fruit. Think cottage cheese (more Protein and less sugar) would be a safe alternative to yogurt? Being sleeved Monday 12/21...getting nervous!
