Thanks Christasha! I'm on a real high right now - check out my post in the NSV thread - what a great week! :crying:

Wow, this thread has dropped off the radar, but I'm bringing it back with not one but TWO NSV's!! 1. I went on my first date in 15 months on the weekend and it was wonderful!! We met for coffee mid afternoon, talked for hours, went for a walk and ended up going out to dinner. Late in the afternoon, the lapband came up in conversation and he said he couldn't believe that I was ever heavy and that I was (and I quote!) "dropdead gorgeous right now and if I lose more weight I'd be blinding!" Over the top but MAN was that nice to hear! 2. We WALKED! For an HOUR! Down the port waterfront, out on the sea wall, across town, all over - and I DIDN'T GET OUT OF BREATH OR EVEN BREAK A SWEAT!! That was before the lapband came up and he never even suspected that 9 months ago, I couldn't walk to the end of the block and still hold a conversation at the same time! WHOOHOOO! I feel GREAT!! :crying:

Marie - Hi & Welcome I was 52 when banded my insurance required an overnight stay in the hospital - I think my surgery was an hour or so - I was back to work day 6 - desk job.. Saggy skin most likely but this is the way I think about it - what's worse the fat or saggy skin - the saggy skin isn't going to kill you but the fat will. Plus that's what they make plastic surgeron for.. I have lost 105 lbs - my arms are pretty saggy - boob too tummy not too bad and legs - well at 53 I'm not wearing mini skirts so who care.. Can't help on the doc issue - I live in Cali Lapbandnana- Welcome and congrats on your weight loss you are doing great.. MaryD Hi & Welcome too you are doing great 13 lbs in less than 3 weeks that's 4.33 a week - that is just super - your weight loss will depend on a lot of things how much you have to lose - your food intact - and your physical activitiy.. I know that you feel you should be losing 10 lbs a day but remember we didn't gain 10 lbs in one day so it's not going to come off that fast... Lapbanders on the average lose 1 - 2 lbs a week.. Some lose faster some lose slower - it's very individual - Heck I gotta tell you I lost 100 in 11 months and some weeks I only lost 1/2 lbs - I will tell you that I was alway happy with those 1/2 lbs losses - they added up real fast.. Nancy you are so great - you will know if you have restricition once you eat some solid protein.. Fran - CONGRATS.... :tt1: Lizalee - What a GREAT NSV... Happy for you... Orea - Yep each stage gets old after awhile - how much longer to regular food. Lori - CONGRATULATIONS  You should have bought the large cuz before you know it that xl is going to be too big... Lizalee - I know about buying stuff that in a month or 2 was too big... But I work in an office and have to semi dress and it felt so good going from 18/20's to 14's then 12's then 10's then 8's then 6's ... I couldn't help myself... Well my gf's who where 14 12 10 & 8 have some new clothes and the 2X went to the local shelter.. Becky - Yet lapband talk is the best.. Candice is right - a year from now you will be a new person. -
BG, Going to the gym is an awesome NSV!!! I hate the gym and I envy people who push past the unneccesary self loathing to go there and be with all those people. You are a huge star in my book!!!!!!
-
Those are GREAT NSV's!! I had someone do the whole "I didn't recognize you" thing a couple of weeks ago. I can't deny...it was pretty freaking awesome!! I haven't mentioned this on the other threads but everyone is looking absolutely incredible!! Such big changes!!! YAY DOUBLE V's!!!
-
That's awesome D. Let's see my NSV for the day was going to the gym. I bitched and moaned the whole way there but came home waaay sweaty.

I forgot to tell my NSV....at school today several of my classmates that I have been going to school with for two years now, did NOT recognize me!!!!!! That made me super excited.....

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!
fluffycat replied to pinkdots410's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love to sleep. At least one nap a day. I was even diagnosed with narclepsy and took pills for a while. I want to do things but my mind just gets so tired. I can sleep anywhere. I heard after losing weight that you get more energy. Right! I wasn't counting on it. I just spent 4 days cooped up with the family while we outlasted Tropical Storm Fay. No internet, no power for quite a while, no cable tv. Guess what??!!! I never took a nap. Not once. I ended up staying up late watching dvd's, using my laptop's battery power, etc. I didn't even realize this all important fact until yesterday when I spotted the DH laid back in the recliner taking a nap. For all the grief he has given me in the past 20 years over my napping--I just had to wake him up! Yeah to me -- this is by far the best, most significant NSV I could ever possibly imagine! -
tootie and Leslie~ Good luck with week 4!! Kathy~ Great NSV! Jeannie~ I usually either do some strength training or play the Wii Fit on my off running days. I swim sometimes too. Swimming is a good one, it really gets my heart pumping. Renewed~ Ya'll are in my prayers. I'm so glad your mom is going with you. If I lived closer, I'd go with you. This week will be a hard one for you, just know we are here for you! Well, I'll be doing another day of week 3 today. I think I will move on the week 4 Wednesday. I'm pretty nervous about week 4 because of the increase of running time and the decrease of walking time in between. The walking really helps me get my breathing under control, especially the 3 minute walk after the 3 minute run. Mind over matter, mind over matter, mind over matter...if I keep thinking that, maybe it will work, lol!

THAT's AWESOME!!! Contratulations on your achievement! I can so recall only a few short months ago I crossed that 300 border, and vowed never to return again!! Now my goal is crossing into onederland! Only 29 pounds to that mark. Isn't it fun? Kudos! Hey, I have to share a NSV. Yesterday I rode one of our horses for the FIRST time. I haven't been on a horse for 30 years!!! When I was young my dream was to have a horse someday and I took a few lessons when I was 21. (Only had done trail rides when I was a kid). My daughters ride and each has a horse, but in all the years of being chief groom and bill payor, I never rode them. Yesterday I just decided it was time--even though I still have a way to go before it would actually be fair to ask them haul me around. Anyway, it was only walking around the arena, trying to remember how to do this...after he was good and tired out from my daughter riding him, so that he wouldn't do anything silly...but hey, it was fun!!! I didn't remember how HIGH up and FAR from the ground you are up there, at the mercy of this animal! :-) I plan to do this more often now. -
I have been training for 4 months. I finally with the help of my trainer did the grouse grind in vcr bc. I took 1:45 min, thought I would die, but like child birth, am going to try again nextweek. I am really lucky to have a personal trainer (2xweek) and go on my own 4 days a week. Grouse is a 35% grade, 2.9 km up the moutain. also nsv, I went dancing that night, a people that have not seen me since my surgery, did not know me. I feel great!

Jeannie, I do Jillian Michael DVD's 5 days a week. I don't do them on Wed and Sat. I run every other day, so sometimes I do both. I arrange my runs so that I always take 1 day off a week. The ladies on here all know that I used to not take a day off. My body finally gave out, and after a break for a day I could do much more than when I pushed so hard. I am stubborn and learned the hard way, but the day off is really necessary. Kathy, You always have the coolest sounding outings with your family. I admire that about you!! Yall are always out doing something fun!! Way to go on the soccer NSV. Leslie, Good luck on the run tommorow. You will do great. It is mind over matter, so make up your mind and you've got it made. Well, I only have 1 more night to put my 3 babies to bed. It is really starting to sink in. We have been packing, etc. Today was a very emotional day. It was also very busy. I kept putting off my run. Then tonight I went to sonic and got a chili pie and coke. OMGosh, how aweful is that. Emotional eating at its best. So, after I ate it, I made myself get my tail on the treadmill and do my run. If I can emotionally eat then I can emotionally run.. So, today was the 3rd day of week 9. I will start the graduation week on Tuesday!! Say a prayer for us if you think of it. Tommorow is our last day with our foster kids. I want to make the most of it, yet there is so much to do to get everything ready. Today my mom asked if she could go with me to take them to their new home. I was surprised and excited. I am not the type to ask for such support or even recognize that I need it. DH will be out of town at a training so he can't go. He will be home late Tuesday night. I am really glad mom is going with me!!

Jeannie... I usually walk on my between days. I take the dog for a brisk walk or take the kids with me and walk a bit slower. On those days we go to the playground, so there's always running involved (playing with the kids). Not exactly a cardio workout... but it is movement. I've searched online for some home based strength training ideas and have put together a beginner program for myself. I'm going to start it tomorrow. I'm also going to go look for that book that Whosya suggested. After dinner today we took the kids for a long walk and ended up in the park. We brought the soccer ball with us and spent about 20 min. running around playing soccer. So here's my NSV... last summer, I would have sat on the bench and watched my DH play soccer with the kids, as I wouldn't have been able to participate much more than the "stand and kick" role. Tonight, I was running, kicking, chasing, and running, running, running! At the end, I wasn't even winded. I could have continued for a lot longer!!!

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!
Bizzy Bee replied to pinkdots410's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My NSV is that I was co-captian of a Relay for Life team and signed up in April. I needed a 2x Team Captian t-shirt at that time. I hadn't wore my tshirt again until our Relay event last night. I had to trade my shirt in for a LARGE!!! I wore a LARGE last night. I thought I needed an XL but they didn't have any so I told them I would try a Large but it probably wouldn't fit. Well it DID!! I was so surprised and glad I didn' have to wear the 2xl knee length shirt. Our team came in 8th place(raising $2,281.) out of 30 and last night was a great all around success!! WOOO HOOO! -

Kiki-I had the same NSV just a week or so ago! I havent bought new towels for a while so I am down to 2 beach towels that I use, while everyone else uses regular bath towels. Anyway, I found that I am now able to use a regular towel too! I am throwing my old beach towels out for good! YAY, US!! -
I have also noticed that people are more engaging now...more eye contact, just saying hello, holding doors open, that kind of thing. I really felt invisible before. I had a weird NSV on Friday. I was at work and one of my regular customers came in. She said, "Are you related to Jaime?" I said, "Um, what?" She repeated it. I said, "I AM Jaime." She goes, "Oh my, I didn't even recognize you, you've lost a lot of weight, haven't you?" LOL That made me feel pretty good. I only see my customers about once a month usually, and some of them I've worked with for 2+ years now, but she's only the THIRD one to even make a comment and definitely the first to comment like that. LOL

I was looking thru the clearance bakery stuff yesterday for snacks for my husband and son and there was a man standing next to me looking too. He said something about how good they looked but not that neither he or I needed them. Now this might sound rude but it was said in such a nice way and he must have been 65 so it wasn't some young rude boy remark. Afterwards I realized what a compliment it really was for me. 6 months and 98 pounds ago no one would have made a remark about my weight. I was the oddity in the room that everyone pretended didn't exist. Now I'm such a normal amount overweight that he felt perfectly comfortable joking with me. Nice! I guess..... LOL

You all are losing weight so much faster than I am...I haven't had any fills yet though  Anyway, I thought it would be awhile before I could post anything here, but I just had my first NSV! Yesterday morning I was waiting for my fiance to get ready for work so we could leave and I had some extra time. We are allowed to wear jeans to work on Fridays so I was thinking "Hmm...since he's not in the room, maybe I should just try quick?" I haven't been able to wear my jeans in over a year and a half, and the last time I tried them on the buttons wouldn't come within 6 inches of each other. Yesterday, I was able to button and zip without sucking, pulling, or lying down and squirming I wore jeans for the first time to my job.

:seeya:Hi Sue. Good to hear from you my friend. I LOVE Mammoth cave. We went there a lot when I was a kid. What a NSV for you . Thanks for counting with me. 4 days to go . Welcome oktoberfest. It's always nice to have new people join us. You should be hearing something pretty soon. I think it took 2 weeks or so. Charlene my have a helper now, so that may speed up the process for you. Kathy~ how did your walk go? Sarah~ glad to hear your feeling better, even with the slight gain. You can drop that in no time. I'm off to join my family for my sisters birthday celebration. Hope everyone has a blessed day. -
Good Morning Vi's~ I too slept hard last night. I didn't think I was going to, I still flet nauseated when I went to bed, and I kind of remember sometime in the night getting really hot, but nothing til the alarm went off at 5! Then Manda tucking Kinsey in bed with me at 6....then the alarm again a few minutes ago. Not sure when the builders are due here, but sometime today, and didn't want to have them ring the bell and find me still in jammies and asleep. I have to go out in the yard and show them the final resting place for the shop.....so got up. Now, I am up, have on a bra, brushed my teeth and hair, and pulled on some clothes---that is as good as it is getting for awhile!!! Have not eaten anything, but so far my stomach feels better, I do not want to eat.....so am going to have to think on what I might have in a little bit. For a long time I missed the back to school goings ons-----but have settled into not doing it pretty well. I did run into a totally bizarre kind of NSV thing I never dealt with before this year due to back to school. I got some $$$$ for my birthday so went to buy some new jeans, and there was squat to pick from, so when I mentioned it to the salesgirl in Maurices, she told me, they just had a hard time keeping stock during the back to school times. I have not work a "back to school" size clothes in a hunert years, so I never had the problem. So.....I held onto my $$$ and am waiting. I found nothing in the mall stores, or Target, I was getting so disgusted, til she said that, and I felt pretty doggone good about it then!! Terry, how are things with your Mom? And your Son? Want an extra son? Mine is on my list!! I wish they would get here and get started! I have to go to Farmington and go to the credit union and withdraw money to pay them! I went over last night, and I had put it off til the last minute because I felt crummy. But I sat in line behind another car in the drivethru when they left I pulled up, and the little metal door was closed over the canister. I looked at my clock and it said 5:43--so I hit the call button and nothing. I looked up at the window, and that witch in there was shaking her head no, and flipped a sign around that said closed. I was furious!!! I went around to the front to the walk in, and the sign says they are open from 9 AM to 5:45 PM. WTH???? 5:45??? I look then at their temp/clock sign out front and right then on their own clock it said it was 5:44. I was feeling so bad and was SSSOOOOOOO mad, I told Rick I am going in today and closing every account I have with them. I was sitting in their line---and they closed according to their own clocks early, I will just move my money elsewhere. So today, I am closing the savings account, and as our CD's mature, I am moving them as well. Never have I ever been treated friendly in there, so to heck with them! We originally years ago opened the account at the credit union because they were the cheapest place to finance a used car. We have kept the extra account, so we could use their financing if we wanted, and we liked having things a bit diversified, and it is locally run.....but they can do without my not so big bucks!!! LOL So will I do without them if the builders ever show up! Well my sleeping beauty is up, so I am going to go fix her some breakfast---she wants toast and jelly--might try a piece and see how it goes! BBL Kat

My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!
newhope4me replied to HarleyGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It wasn't my first NSV, but I must share! The other night hubby and I were intimate and when he had his arms around me, I could feel that his hand could reach further around me than he had previously been able to. It made me feel so good. I told him about it the next day, but he didn't seem to understand why what seemed like such a small thing meant so much to me. -
this might be a stupid NSV but...I climed though a window the other day! It was awesome to not have my weight hold me back...I was able to climb thought my friends window and half myself inside! lol

I had to change clothes before going out today because the pants I put on were FALLING OFF!! I thought I could get another wear or two out of them, but it just wasn't going to happen - not if I wanted to keep my dignity lol. I think I may keep that pair of pants as my BEFORE pair. Just had to share!:biggrin2:
