February 2018 Success Stories
Lillytan replied to kakatlady612's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had by bypass August 6, 2018 and have been doing great. I am starting to volunteer at the zoo were I live and I have so much more energy. I can actually put my shoes and socks on without almost passing out. I have wanted to be able to sit with my legs crossed for about 25 years and now I sit with them crossed all the time. I wish I could get to the gym more though to firm up all the saggy spots. I had my official 6 month follow up on Valentines day and was so happy with my progress. I am wishing good luck to everyone Pre surgery stats Weight 231 BMI 40.6 Chest 45" Waist 43.5" Hips 47.5" Clothes sizes Pants 22 Shirts 2x 6 Month Stats Weight 155 BMI 28 Chest 41.5" Waist 37.5" Hips 41" Clothes sizes Pants 10 Slim Shirts Medium Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Ohhh yea! I didn't go for 5 days before or after my surgery - so 10 days straight. Was on Senna and Miralax, finally buckled and tried a Ducolax suppository - an hour later I got it done... Been a challenge both ways since then, without the softeners I don't really go and I seem to get diarrhea when I do use them. I guess I just need to find the right balance!

I am so happy to read about everyone's success! I had my surgery on March 7th and have lost 87 lbs. I have another 7-10 lbs to go but have been at a stall for a couple of months. My body seems to be happy where it is and I am a-ok with that. I feel awesome, look good, and have a ton of NSVs that keep me going. Best decision I ever made for myself!! Hope everyone else is feeling the same!

Any March 2018 Sleevers?
NelliSleeve replied to NelliSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello. I am down 70lbs with 10-15 more to go. My one year post op is March 5. I have kinda stalled a bit and I'm finding it hard to get off the last few pounds. -
Medical Tourism Corporation, I did a lot of research and I chose that company and utilized Dr. Jorge Green, at the Oasis of Hope hospital in Tijuana. I had my surgery on 2/18/19, it’s been one week. My comparison to that hospital versus an American hospital is that the staff was very competent, nice and efficient. A lot of the staff spoke English and were very attentive to me. I really liked the Doctor because he was/is a straight shooter. Also I was given his private cell phone number for any follow up questions. That’s not what you get in the states! Also the facility was REALLY NICE...and clean, there was someone ALWAYS cleaning! Best bet for your research, I’m sure glad I did!

GALS who started their journey over 300 lb+<br /> +
iattcom replied to Frustr8's topic in The Gals' Room
I was 383 before I started my program and had RnY on 8/26/18 I am 10 pounds away from my first 100 pounds down and it is so surreal. I have had to get different pieces of new clothing and take in some other pieces. Most of the people in my life have all been supportive of all of the changes. That has helped tremendously. -

Surgery on 2/18/19 weight at 327, and I’m shocked I weighed myself this morning (2/25/19) at 303! 😧 that’s 24 pounds in 7 days....everything inside of me tells me weight loss in that short amount of time only comes back on faster....but I have to break that thinking. Rny bypass just changed my life. I am shocked. -
Weight Gain After 4 years gastric sleeve
Healthy_life2 replied to Chelle777's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You’re not alone, many of us have experienced a gain years out. No need to be upset with yourself. 20 pounds is easier to get off than a 40, 60, 80 or more. You know how to work your plan, It's the mental battle of getting back into the discipline that you had at the beginning. I joined a challenge for support and to keep myself accountable. I use myfitness pal to track my food. Here is a link to the just give me ten days weight loss challenge. I've been using the same Yunmai "mini" Wireless Bluetooth Smart Scale with 10 Body Measurements for at least 2 years. The app is awesome and it's only $34.99 at the BariatricPal Store.

I still haven’t bought a scale. I threw away that mean bitch about 10 years ago. When I started this process I weighed 412lbs on my WLC scales I weighed 308lbs the day of surgery at the hospital. On my 1 week post op I weighed 299lbs that is a number I haven’t seen in 20 years. Now I have to buy a scale before my 4 week appointment. My question is what type of scale do you use. Brand and type would be very helpful. Thank you in advance.

Anyone get their sleeve February 2019
sp69 replied to jazlynvictoriaxo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery date is 2/25/2019. I'm very nervous and scared of what my life will be like right after. -
Being in emotional pain for the better part of 45 years and now in physical pain for several years and after dozens of failed attempts to lose weight, I've decided on bariatric surgery. Surgery is scheduled for March 6, 2019. I was excited for about a minute... then the fears set in. How drastically will my life change when I lose the weight? Will my husband and I still love each other? Will our lives take such different paths that we grow apart? What will family and colleagues say/think? Am I vain for wanting to do this? Then there is the uncertainty of success... Can I truly commit to this new lifestyle? Will this be added to list of failures? I am committed to this decision and yet as I sit here while the family is still asleep, with tears streaming down my face, I keep asking myself "why are you afraid to be thin?"

First real temptation
Sheribear68 replied to Sheribear68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay so update: today was as rough as I thought it might be but I learned 2 lessons: 1. Don’t ever try to eat a single poached egg with hollandaise sauce. Hubs ordered eggs Benedict for breakfast and the plan was for me to eat one of his eggs. I even scraped a lot of the sauce off, but about 30 minutes after eating I was in complete AGONY. I’ve eaten eggs 3 times this week so I’m guessing it was the sauce. All I could do was pace around in the hotel room bc lying down or sitting hurt too much. Had to take 2 Zofran, but thank goodness the nausea and the intense spasms faded by time to start getting ready. 2. I learned that i can sit through an entire reception dinner and eat 3 bites of flank steak (lots of chewing) and 4 green beans and I’ll survive. Again, drinks were flowing like crazy and don’t even get me started on the table entirely made up of champagne flutes, lol. I was starting to get cranky bc by the time dinner came I’d not eaten anything for over 10 hours, but just that teensy bit of food fixed me Okay so I completely missed my protein goal by a mile, but tomorrow is a travel day and then I’m back home -

Are you sure you want to do this?
Cher in NYC replied to Everything's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That was very unprofessional of the nurse. That has not happened to me, but if it did, I would respond that I can easily lose 10 pounds in a week and I have done it many times before. The problem is that next month I will be up 25 pounds. Every non-surgical weight loss endeavor has yielded a significant net gain which is why I'm resorting to surgical intervention. -
Local support groups
Cher in NYC replied to Kay2016's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My hospital has monthly support groups for WLS patients, but unfortunately it only available to their own patients. It is well attended and the facilitator is very skilled at providing the perfect balance of structure and flexibility. For pre-op people researching surgeons and programs, I would highly recommend finding one with consistent and robust groups. There are people who have not missed a meeting in 10 years and they partially credit the support for their continued success. -
I have an 8 inch scar from an op 10 years ago. I used Bio Oil and the scar got a bit lighter, but it's still clearly visible. But frankly, who's to say that wouldn't have happened naturally any way? I've had 5 abdominal ops in total...I tend to think that all the scars tell an interesting story. And I could always join them up and make a copy of the Mona Lisa...
