  1. You are probably feeling the fluid pocket that forms under these type of incisions. The will go away with time. My primary Doctor felt them at 8 weeks out and said they would go away on their own...and they did. As long as you dont see oozing, rednes, or signs of infection you should be fine.
  2. Please tell me you did not remove your steri-strips!!! They usually don't fall off on their own until about 2 weeks after your surgery. It's hard to speculate what could be going on now - I don't know what my incisions looked like at that stage of the game. You should call your doctor and see how safe it is for you to use neosporin or some other antibiotic ointment. I'm 4 weeks and 1 day out today, but plan on using mederma or anther scar gel in about a week. I had one tiny little bump that looked like a pimple near my port site, I popped it and it didn't come back so I'm not concerned. I really think your strips came off too soon though.

    Sigh.. The stall kills

Stalls totally suck. They mess with your mind for sure. I waver up and down in a 2 pound range for several weeks at a time and just want to scream sometimes. Take your measurements (simple ones like waist, upper arms, chest, neck) as you might see more results when the scale doesn't move. A pound of fat is way bigger than a pound of muscle, and with your exercise and calorie intake, you are probably dropping fat and building muscle. I'd avoid eating bread and Pasta if at all possible even if they do officially clear you to eat all food. My doc highly discouraged eating both of those ever again. One you start adding bread/pasta back in, you start craving them more too. I very rarely have either any more. We get a double fiber whole wheat bread if I'm dying for a sandwich, but mostly I do low carb tortilla wraps to get the bread experience. Pasta is also rare, and whole wheat as well when it does happen, but I have a more difficult time with it (craving more) so I pretty much don't eat pasta at all much at this point.
  5. Nicotine is out of your system. Since your just a social smoker, its probalby gone in 3 or 4 days. A regular smoker up to 3 weeks.

    Boredom and head hunger

How not to graze ... 1. Keep all food inside cabinets and never visible on kitchen bars, tables, etc. (Out of sight, out of mind.) 2. Exercise seriously every day -- this reduces your stress, your anxiety, and your boredom. For most people, this means walking at least 3 miles a day. You don't have to do it all in one full swoop. Break it up a mile at a time. Winter's here, which may bring terrible weather to your area. So if you don't have a treadmill at home, consider getting one. The exercise alone will motivate you not to replace all the calories you burned up by nibbling. Consider putting the treadmill in the room where you watch TV. 3. Find something to occupy your hands and mind. For women AND men this may be knitting, crocheting, and adult coloring books (don't laugh!). 4. Doing housework during TV commercials keeps me out of the kitchen -- laundry, vacuuming, making beds, cleaning closets, hanging up clothes, folding towels, straightening clutter, ironing, polishing shoes. You'd be surprised how much housework you can get done two or three minutes at a time.

    Feeling a bit down:(

You are doing great! My PA says that they usually see around a 12 lb loss at the 6 week mark! Some days are definitely harder than others for sure! Keep your head up- and post here when you need a boost! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  8. I am 3 months post-op and I have lost 65lbs. I am now experiencing pain under my ziphoid. Anyone else ever experience this?
  9. Hello friends, I am trying to plan my fill with Dr. Huacuz, but I am curious as to whether or not I can make it to Tijuana and back before 3:00pm in the afternoon. I live in Orange County and travel time to the San Diego airport would take me an hour and a half. My only concern is getting back and forth across the border. It is just so unpredictable. Any suggestions or ideas??? Are there some days that are easier than others?:help:

    1 More Week.....

Mine was cleaning, shopping and getting things in order for about two weeks of doing nothing. Good luck!!
  11. Hi everyone. I'm Tiffeny and I live in Westminster. I am trying to form a support group in my area. Although my doctor has a regular support group, they meet on Mondays, the only day of the week that is almost impossible for me to get away from the house. I would love to find others in my area that are also interested in a regular monthly support group meeting. If you are interested please email me directly @ mamabutercup@yahoo.com I would love to make this happen.

    2nd day

I'm on day 3. Loved my cheesy eggs. Only had that for breakfast and about 5 hours later had a cheese stick and hard boiled egg. Don't know what time I'll want dinner now lol
  13. Hey all. So, I was sleeved on 6/11/2020 and altogether, I've dropped a little over 120 pounds. I'm so grateful for this second chance at life but here lately, I feel like I can mess it all up. I am having an extremely hard time with hunger in between meals and ESPECIALLY at night. So, a year out, I can obviously eat more than I used to. I still get full rather quickly, but it's like an hour later and bam- I feel like I can eat a snack. I'm usually pretty good during the work week because I'm on a schedule, and I know I'm not dehydrated because I sip on m Yeti all day and am done with 2 by the day is done. But when I'm home at night, all I want to do is snack. Sometimes, I can just tell myself no and I'll go to bed. Other times, I'll break down and eat. It's definitely made me go into a maintaining mode I think, because I've been stuck at the 205-207 pound mark for the past 6 weeks. I was reading through some forums and people have said it's been their stomach acid making them think they are hungry, so I am starting to take my script for Prilosec again. Just reaching out to see if anyone has had a similar issue and what they did to break through it. I am terrified of stretching my stomach back out. Luckily I have an appointment with my nutritionist next week so I am definitely going to talk to her about it. Anyways. Thanks for letting me rant. Have a great week, everyone!!!

March 26th is the date for me!

I am March 25th. Now have a sinus infection so trying to get the antibiotics in before then. My husband and myself are doing it at the same time... surgery is the same day. We start our 2 week liquid diet Tuesday. ... not looking forward to it but it will be over before I know it.
  15. I thought I would write to share an experiance I have been having. I find that I have gone to the store a few times since surgery and get lightheaded/head ache in the store. I spoke to the Dr about is and also the pshy. The shrink laughed and said that it is a reaction based off of how I used to shop. Anything and everything I wanted went in the cart and I would eat and eat till I had satisfied any craving I had or I developed while in the store. I would sometimes have a 8 course meal to accomplish all of the things I bought. 1st chips and dip, then a little potatoe salad you ge the idea. What I find the last few times is that I am spending a higher dollar for food and buying a lot less. Perhaps because I am buying in the early stages but none the less. I went to a restaurant for my sisters B-day last week and ate the broth off of a bowl of Soup and found that I did not have the same reaction at the restaurant, I was fine. Except for the onion rings and patty melt my sister ate...b***h! (Kidding) Well I thought I would share this and see if anyone else has had a similar experiance and what they did about it.

    How much water?

I'm about three weeks post-op and still not meeting the water goals. I generally get from 32 to 40 ounces a day (although my doctor doesn't count protein shakes into that total). Thank goodness for protein water--double duty, getting both protein and water. But it's a struggle on the water front every single day.
  17. Yes bandster hell is very real. For me this was will power diet for 6 months! My best recommendation to you would be to buy a digital food scale. Measure out your Protein (my doctor says 3 0z). Eat low fat/calories veggies until full. Also everytime you go to eat something ask yourself "Would I eat this in front of my doctor"? If not don't eat it. Am I an all or nothing dieter? Not anymore. I try to live by the 95/5% rule. Live super healthy 95% of the time and the other 5% you can have some fun. The first couple months after surgery however I think you need to be very dedicated and eat healthy all the time. Also, are you exercising? If not find something you can force yourself to do for 30 days. After 30 days you will see weight loss and feel motivated to keep going. I highly recommend lap swimming (preferrably with Water proof MP3 player) or water aerobics. Great for those of us with joint problems.

    Staying regular

probiotics were not for me...I ended up with dry-mouth etc...but I just use Miralax a few times a week and that works fine for me... good luck
  19. So, I got my labs back today. Everything was great but they said that my good cholesterol is low - 33. I don't even know what that means. Apparently I need to eat more foods with higher good cholesterol, but I don't even know what they are. Nutrition is hella new to me. I'm already struggling to get 3 meals a day and 1 snack of protein in a day. Any suggestions?

    Who is this person???

Thank you for sharing readysetgo! I am 38 as well and am getting SO excited about being banded 1st week in December! I know the beginning will take some time to adjust but after I know it will be amazing to finally reveal the thinner healthier me that I know has been inside me ALL along. I weigh 246 lbs and would love to be back in onederland! it's always been a struggle staying there... But from all the posts I really think the band will be the long term tool I need to get there and most importantly stay there! Can't imagine how great it will feel to weigh 175 (or less hehe) I know my joints and knees and feet and back oh yeahhh and my heart..will thank me!!! Keep on keeping on!!
  21. Since having lap band surgery about 6 weeks ago, I've noticed that if I drink my Protein shakes or tea or really anything, I have to burp but it sometimes comes out like a MAN BURP! Seriously!! LOL!! I don't think I've EVER had this type of burping before and I'm a little scared to be around people after I eat because I might sound like a big, hairy old man! OK - it's a little funny but please tell me this is not completely just a ME thing! Mary P.S. Where ELSE could I pose a question like this other than HERE!!!
  22. Hun you are singing the same toon as i am. I wasn't always this way but it's been hell trying to get it off!. I've got a 2 year old and a 3 year old. I like you, gained 100lbs with first pregancy , and 20 with my second. 3 months after i had my daughter i was preggers again... My body wasn't able to "bounce back" like most peoples do. I'm still waiting on word from my doc atm. I dont think i'll hear from him til march. But who's your main insurance. Different people with different insruances have to go through different things. I myself have BCBSOK, -BlueChoice, i called ahead of my doctor and spoke with them before i even made my doctors appointment. They said i would be approved i just had to find a doctor in the area that was in the network with my insurance... i was like a yo yo through school due to being on ritlin during the school year and then being taken off of it during the summer. I would lose weight in the school year and then gain it when i was off . I was never "super skinny" but i had a lil meat in all the right places. Least that 's what i like to think but ever since i got married my ex husband used to say you are losing too much weight, i want more weight on u.... Secretly i think he was trying to trap me so that no one else would want me but that's a whole different story and now i'm getting sidetracked LOL. In other post below you will find great information about the procedures, doctors, hospitals and insurances. We're all here for you and good luck hun! *hugs*
  23. I had sleeve surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago. I’ve been back on birth control for about five days. I’m getting terrible cramping in my lower abdomen. It could be gas but it feels more like menstrual cramps. Anyone experience this and does anyone have a remedy. I’m really doubled over at some points. Hurts so much that I’m sweating

    What is this? Bruised feet?

I have lost 47 pounds and I feel like the bottoms of my feet are bruised. I also felt like this when I lost a lot of weight on Atkins. I walk anywhere from 3-7 miles . . . almost daily. Is it the loss of fat on the bottoms of my feet? Is it from so much walking? It's just kind of annoying. I'm okay if I'm in running shoes or wearing comfy shoes . . . but I can barely go barefoot at all anymore. Isn't that weird?
  25. When you loose a lot of fat your hormones go crazy can cause you to be extremely emotional. Happened to me too :-) Right after sugery I was not only not hungry in the slightest when I tried drinking my protien shakes it would take forever to get a little down :-/ I mainly focused on water. I knew in no way did I want to get dehydrated. I say for me personally it took about 3 months to really adjust to my new pouch and feel "normal" each day gets better :-)
