    ❤MARCH 2019 CHALLENGE❤

I’m in!! My goal is 10 lbs. I’m 5 1/2 weeks post op Losing slowly so hopefully my goal isn’t too ambitious Today’s weight 268 Three words: Loyal, compassionate and determined So far I haven’t let any unhealthy snacking sneak so this will be great to keep me accountable. Yoga looks really hard for me to do but hey, I’ll give it a try!

    Life Changing Decision

My doctor is so busy, it took 6 months to get a date and then the date was 3 months away. I have to say though, it was worth the wait! I am only 10 days out, and I am doing great. No pain that a couple of Tylenol couldn't handle, no nausea, and I am down 15 pounds since surgery.

Hi there...I did not have a pre-op diet either, I just could not have any food after 10:00 pm the night before surgery. Every team is different in their requirements. Just keep asking your doctor questions for your concerns, you said he has good reviews but is lacking in communication so trust him and ask all the questions that you need to. You will be just fine, follow your plan. Congratulations on your up coming surgery and I wish you all the best!

    Travel Question

So I had surgery 10 days ago. We have a scheduled trip at 4.5 weeks post op. It includes a day at an amusement park and the beach. I am guessing I wont get into the ocean past my knees which is fine and I wont do any roller coaster rides etc. My husband is worried I wont be able to eat, will get dehydrated etc and wants to cancel. How hard is it to find and eat soft foods when out and about? The thing that worries me is trying a new fish etc for the first time at a restaurant. I know I can take shakes with me and have yogurt and feel safe with that so far.

    Dating

Been on around five dates - only one hilariously dumb, the others were 6 or 7 out of 10. But I am really busy and exhausted so frankly I’m not really following up on anything below an 8 (and I’m talking date quality here, not attractiveness). No one sparked enough yet to make me WANT to pursue date two. I may go on another date with an EMT, but he’s borderline as well.... What I will say is that dating has stopped being a terrifying trial. That plus not needing to recharge my introvert batteries as much has made this all much easier. I don’t have to hype myself up anymore, it’s just going out for a drink. The playing field feels a lot more balanced. I am THRILLED to hear a Bumble guy is working out for you! Keep us posted! I wouldfeel to intimidated to ask to fool around on the first date. This guy probably gets many dates and women keep complaining about him. I think he is what women want. Good lord, why would you read that tale and come away thinking he’s what women want? He got one date. I listened to him yammer, then never contacted him again. So no, unlikely to be what women want - he looked good on paper, but in person he washed out.

    Any March 2018 Sleevers?

March 12 will be my 1 year. I’m down 85 pounds and would like to lose another 10 - 15. Have only lost 5 in the last 3 months, definitely in a stall period 😝My coworker sent me a picture last week from right before my surgery and I was shocked to see how far I have come though!! Glad everyone is doing well and I love to read about everyone’s progress. Keep up the great work!!

After approval how long to complete surgery?

I have Cigna as well but you might want to check with them. The way it worked out for me is my surgeons office sent in all the paper work after my 90 day final appointment. It took them 10-15 business days to approve (I was lucky and it was closer to 10) and then my surgeons first available date for surgery was 3 weeks out. I hadnt planned on that part. I thought it’d be approval and get ‘r done!
  10. My dr picked the sleeve for me. 4-8-19 is my date. I’m 64 and have 70 to lose.

    March Bypass Buddies

Hey guys found these at Costco 15 8 oz packs for $12.99 vs $19.99 for 10 packs on Amazon. I thought these would be a great alternative to big tetra packs of broth post op and less waste.

    March 2019 sleepers

Hey guys found these at Costco for $12.99/15 packets. Amazon is $19.99 for 10 packets. Thought these would be a good alternative to broth in big tetra packs. These are an 8 oz serving and have 10grams of protein!

I think just about every person on here has had a different pre op / post op diet. I would follow what your surgeon has layed out for you. I’ve read a lot of people on here that didn’t have to do a pre op and what he said for post op seems reasonable. As far as how to take your meds I would consult your surgeon. I can tell you my son had DS surgery two years ago and he was working in a nursing home as a patient tech at the time. He was only off work for 10 days. Depending on your drs weight lifting restrictions you may have to be on modified duties but he wasn’t. I thought that was too soon so I’m glad to see you have a month! It seems like you are experiencing the same jitters we all face when it finally becomes “real”. Just try to focus on “what is” and not the “what if’s” and take it one baby step at a time. You got this!!!
  14. I agree!!! It's looking really good on you!!! Seriously, you look really really great!! What a transformation!!! It's finally dawning on me how much and how fast my body has changed since I had surgery in December. I don't see day to day, but everyone else seems to see it. I do see it on the scale, clothes etc. I am down to 197 from 260 (although I was probably closer to 280 and got to 260 before I was willing to put myself in a position to be weighed). It's a great feeling. Summer 2018: Today (2/28/19): Also, don't worry about the extra skin!! I'll take the extra skin over the fat any day!!!! The extra skin isn't going to put me in an early grave. I wear compression shirts when I go to the gym and that keeps everything in check. I don't have a lot of extra skin fortunately, but you can't loose a lot of weight at 45 without paying a price for putting it on in the first place. So, that's the extra skin for me!
  15. Hey everyone! I was 354 at my highest weight, 321 day of surgery (10/2/18) and am 252 currently. See my surgeon again today and am anxious to hear their thoughts. I’ve been so happy with my decision to have this surgery. I’m excited for everyone here!! Keep up the good work!!

    My Journey

Great Job. I just posted something similar in the December 2018 thread, but I'll do the same here! Summer 2018: (Weighed around 250) Day of Surgery (Weighed around 234) January 17, 2019 (One Month Post-Op) (Weighed 210) Taken today (2/28/19) (Weighing in at 197)

    December 2018 Sleevers!

He guys! I haven't checked up with everyone in a while. I hope you're all doing well. I see there have been quite a few posts on the forum about stalls, so I thought I would share my numbers for February. On February 1, I weighed in at 204.1 (which is down from 234 on the day of surgery (12/17/18) and 243 on the day I started my pre-op (12/3/18)). This morning, I weighed in at 197.4 (although I have been as low as 195.5 this week). So, for this month I am down 7.5 pounds--almost all of that weight came off before 2/13. I have only lost about a 1 pound in the past 3 weeks. Now, that looks like a stall, but I doubt it. I guess the time I have been spending at the gym (getting there between 4:30 and 5am and leaving around 7:30am 6 days a week) is having the biggest impact on this journey. It's definitely slowing the appearance of weight loss on the scale, but it's changing everything else for the positive. I think I have gained at least 10 pounds of muscle since mid-January. As lousy as I am at assessing my own progress and appearance, even I can feel (maybe see) the difference in my body tone. I am feeling pretty great right now and while I am still 25 pounds away from my goal weight, I am happy where I am! Everything after this is gravy! Here are the pictures to show the journey so far: These were taken in July and August 2018. I weighed around 250 here, which is about 10 pounds down from my highest measured weight. (I am sure I weighed more than my highest measured weight, but was afraid to get on the scale for a while). This is me on the day of Surgery (12/17/18). I weighed 234 on the day of surgery. I took this one on January 17 (one month post op). I weighed in at 210.2 that morning. I just took these earlier today. I weighed in at 197.2 this morning.
  18. First let me say congratulations on the wieght loss, now what everyone needs to be mindful of is that our bodies have the final say on our numbers. I get it we have all been overweight so long and dream of being skinny that we over shoot our goal weight. So when our bodies go down too low the body automatically adjusts by adding some back. Think about it for the most part everyone who complained about gaining was only a 10-20lb difference. What that says to me is our bodies looks for and will eventually find true homeostasis, meaning comfort zone or ideal body wieght not some European body chart (FYI Europeans have a smaller frame than the average American, have you ever purchased a pair of shoes with a euro size you always have to get a bigger size for a true fit). Your wieght loss is very commendable and you should be proud of yourself because I am if it means anything.

    Best apps?

I'm on week 10 on Noom. I highly recommend it. I'm two yrs out on my surgery but I still battle with stress and boredom eating. This has helped so much. Besides learning more about myself and why I eat, I've lost 10 pounds along the way! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J727AZ using BariatricPal mobile app
