2 month post op and stalled since week 3
BLERDgirl replied to stockerx2's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Single serving pack of pistachios can vary from 80 - 200 depending on the brand. Wonderful has 80 calories packs, Herr's has 130 calorie packs. Cheese sticks are also under 200, greek yogurt under 200. Even better if you buy it plain and add your own fruit. -
SO Tired of Protein Drinks!

Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and tuna are pretty much staples for me. They are great protein sources. -

Difference between Liquid and Purée
RickM replied to wwboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems like the docs can define things differently (and whether it really makes much of a difference is anybody's guess.) My doc didn't discriminate between liquids, purees, mushes and soft Proteins, but just let us move between them during that first month as our tolerances dictated. It sounds like your interpretation is reasonable, though yogurt isn't usually pourable (except for some of the yogurt drinks.) If in doubt (beyond checking with the doc or nut), you can thin things out a bit with Water or milk, or just see how the thicker consistencies go as they are acceptable on some programs and there is so much overlap between the different programs. Don't be afraid to call the doc's office with any such questions, as if things aren't clear to you, they likely aren't clear to lots of other patients on the program, and the instructions should clarify such things, and if they don't they should be rewritten so that they do. -
Surgery Date December 21st.............
choward18 replied to Chelle Bean's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I am already struggling with what to eat. My diet calls for strained blenderized Soups, Protein shakes, sugar free pudding or apple sauce, smoothies, greek yogurt. Everything is sweet! Tried strained cream of chicken Soup tonite but couldn't eat much of it. Any suggestions for foods that have worked for you so far that aren't sweet. Everything just seems to be sweet. And sweet isn't getting it . . .isn't that amazing? -
Difference between Liquid and Purée
Ryan TN replied to wwboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my case, pureed foods included scrambled eggs, yogurt, refried beans, cottage cheese ????????, but was able to move to moist meats in that phase, tuna fish, beans, boca burgers (yum, love them). Again, just me, if you aren't sure, discuss it with your NUT. -
In a few weeks I am flying out to Phoenix to pick up an RV and then drive it back to the East Coast. I will only be bringing a small suitcase with me and the RV will be empty (no plates, cookware, or utensils). I am about 4 months post-op and was looking for some meal suggestions for this week long trip. The RV does have a refrigerator, hot Water, stove, and microwave. My plan at this point is to stop at a Walmart after picking up the RV to pick up supplies for the trip. Here is my partial list at this point: - Ready made Protein drink (Premier Protein) - Small frying pan - Paper plates - eggs - Cooked grilled chicken - Yogurt - Lunchmeat (turkey) - Bottled water Any suggestions for easy to prepare meals for this trip would be appreciated.

Hi I'm 6 days post op and a little confused on the difference between liquid and purée. As an example of "ok" foods on my liquid stage for the next week, my surgeons instructions includes things like baby food, tomato or cream Soup, yogurt, etc. How are these different from purée? How do I differentiate as I'm choosing foods? Does it mean that liquid has to be pourable while purée allows for smooth texture while being more thick? It sounds like in my instructions, both stages can't include any chunks or soft bits....everything has to be completely smooth. I know everyone's requirements are a little different. I'm just a little confused. Thanks for any input. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mine includes, Jello, pudding, yogurt, applesauce and veggies

I often top my Greek yogurt with a couple tablespoons of a lower-sugar, higher-Protein granola. Bear Naked and KIND are the ones that I've found with the best stats.

Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?
magtart replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I normally have a Triple Zero Greek Yogurt topped with 2 T. of Bear Naked granola with raisins, cranberries, almonds, and pecans. Prior to surgery I had a fried egg sandwich on whole wheat with a glass of V-8. Or, a soft boiled egg on whole wheat toast. -
What are you guys eating?

6 weeks will fly by, especially with the holidays coming up! My pre op diet is super easy. Three days of Water and yogurt. They say you can do ten days Protein shakes and chicken and salads prior to the three days pre op. Honesty I feel like I do that most days, although lately it's been bad with all the holiday treats, but I'll prob try and mostly stick to that, starting Boxing Day, but definitely starting Jan 1 I'll follow that for the six days before my yogurt diet. I am going to Mexico. Wish there was an option in Canada or the US but with my bmi at 29, I don't even qualify for the few docs that will do the surgery on bmis of 30. And I just can't justify spending triple or quadruple the money if the doc in Mexico is rated just as good if not better. My nerves haven't kicked in too much yet. Sometimes I read a story of someone who's had a bad experience and I wonder if I'm making the right decision, but that quickly disappears. I'm sure closer to and the day of I'll be a wreck. My husband is not coming with me, but my parents will be in San Diego at the same time so thinking they'll drive down the day of surgery just to make sure there's no serious complications. They have company flying into San Diego the next day so they'll only be able to stay one night, but they'll be close by and Trish my coordinator is suppose to be the best and surprisingly I'm not too worried about being alone. That's fantastic! My bmi is around 31 or 32. I only found one clinic here in the state that would work with me. They are going to test me for a hiatal hernia and then if I have it (I'm sure I do from symptoms) my insurance should kick in and pay for the surgery to fix the hernia. While they are in there to repair it I'll pay out of pocket for the sleeve itself. I'm expecting to pay roughly about the same as I would if I went to Mexico. But if I can't do it this way then my plan is to set up a date for mexico. One way or another I'm getting this done! I hear the recovery there is ideal! And with a beach near by it might even be relaxing! That pre op diet isn't bad, and with it being the holidays, it is hard to stick with right now, luckily you can wait till after the 1st and still be within the doctors orders! I'm excited for you! Keep me updated! And feel free to chat with me, I'm sure I'll have questions! It's good that your parents will be there with you atleast, my SO won't be coming with me either. Hes not big on hospitals I've come across so few that have had a bad experience that it's hard to really consider it in your decisions.

I love your user ID.... Imready2015! I am five days post op and feeling great. I am going to work tomorrow! Thought I would have to take off two weeks. My major issue is horrible taste in my mouth and bad breadth.... family complaints. Yesterday I added Greek yogurt, it was a nice change from Protein drinks. Best of luck to everyone and speedy recovery.

That's my surgeons rules. Then one week late i go soft and by 1 26 i should be ready to try more solid food. However in my last if full bariatric liquids is jello, pudding thinned cream of wheat, strained soup and yogurt. The cream of wheat even strAINED seems like pureed to be. Haven't tried the yogurt yet. And straining creamed souolp, i did it once, way too much work i felt. But yesterday i had real chicken broth from crock pot chicken and that was awesome.

Just got my pre-op date and my surgery date! Eeekkk!
Sun Godess replied to revisedtosleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Guys, Glad to hear everybody's surgery went well. I am doing pretty good. Feeling pretty good. I started full liquids today. So I can have creamed Soups, yogurt, decaf coffee, thin grits or cream of wheat, thinned mashed potatoes, and Protein drinks and milk... I'm doing pretty good at not being hungry, and the scale is moving down! I have been able to sleep on my sides now. Last night I had about a 40 minute horrible experience with trapped gas that I needed to burp up, but it seemed like it was stuck like couldn't get past the band? Not sure, but it was like pressure and a bubble in the back of my throat! oh my, I didn't like that! I just kept walking and drank hot peppermint tea. Eventually I was able to burp several times and it relieved it. Other than that, I have been out and feeling pretty good. -

naturegirl replied to jonharo22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 months out and still take things easy. Everyday is different depending on what's going on. At dinner time I usually use a small dessert plate and eat a small piece of chicken, veggies, and if room a starch (usually potatoes or beans). Snacks are often string cheese, mandarin orange, or grapes. Breakfast 1/2-3/4 yogurt or two sausage links. Today I went to lunch with my boss for Mexican food. I ate half of a beef enchilada (removed some of the tortilla), 3 chips, and a few tiny bites of rice. Took me about 30 minutes and I was at capacity. Last week we went for lunch at the Olive Garden. I had a some salad and was full. I ordered the mini spaghetti lunch and brought it home for the kids. I try not to eat fast food too often. A panda bowl from Panda Express can last me a week. Half a taco at Taco Bell fills me up. At McD I eat most of a patty and toss the bun. At a sit down restaurant I split a meal with my husband and still have leftovers to bring home. Bread and I don't get along too well. A couple of crackers are ok, a slice of bread no. But as usual every brand/style affects me differently. I don't drink soda. I miss it, but can do without. I've taken a few sips from my kids juice box when really thirsty and found it too sweet and passed it on. Oj is ok in small amounts and slowly. The important thing is to be patient and listen to your body. Not all foods will be tolerable. -
What types of food is everyone eating post op? I need to mix up my diet. I'm 3 months out and mainly eat yogurt, granola, protein bars, meat, cheese, and veggies

Any December Sleever's?
tmountains replied to wif3ysince08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Liz. I'm already home. Had bad chest pain from gas but walking and blowing in the little tube helped. Stitches a little tender but not to bad. I lost 22 pounds prior to surgery. Shocked the heck out of I though maybe 10 pounds. Still on liquid Sadie for two more weeks, but can add fat free no sugar added pudding and yogurt. Can have some V-8 too. Glad to have some new choice before the mush stage. Spell check I meant Yvette -
Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?
otillie03103 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I typically have one of the following: 1. low calorie/sugar greek yogurt 2. low carb toast topped with low fat cottage cheese and sugar free fruit preserves 3. ProtiDiet Cereal and almond milk 4. high Protein waffle or pancake with sugar free syrup and fruit 5. eggs occasionally with salsa and Beans, but the eggs sit heavy for me, so I don't have them often -
What are you guys eating?
BobbyD replied to jonharo22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on 11/18 and I am currently eating greek yogurt, tuna salad with eggs and diced pickles, cream of wheat, scrambled eggs mixed with cottage cheese, Jello sugar free pudding, and sugar free cherry flavored jello. One day I was really brave last week. Our school was sponsoring a bbq lunch. I tried small portions of potato salad, Beans and bbq pork. It was too much and the meat wouldn't digest. I was sickly the rest of that afternoon. So, besides that one glitch, it's working nicely. -

JamieLogical replied to jonharo22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I certainly hope no one is eating Chickfila, Subway, or salad at 15 days post-op! At 15 days post-op I was only allowed Protein shakes, strained cream Soups, and yogurt. When I was allowed legumes and ground meats, I had some Wendy's chili. I managed about 1/4 of a "small" chili back then. I wasn't allowed salad for a looooong time. Raw veggies were a no-no until I want to say around the three month mark? Unfortunately, once I was allowed them, I discovered they caused TERRIBLE burping. Haven't been able to ear raw veggies at all post-op. I'm now going on 16 months post-op and they still cause me to burp uncontrollably. Cooked veggies are fine, but I still don't eat much of them, because I have to put my protein first, of course. If you are looking for some good ideas for things to eat during your puree stage, check out the recipes here: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html I practically lived off the baked ricotta recipe for my entire pureed stage.
