    Band to sleeve!

If you will share a little more specific details and you will get much better advice!! How far out post-op are you? What are you eating for Protein and meals now? Are you taking a PPI? Stomach acid issues can be common the first few months... and can cause a rumbling gnawing feeling that feels just like intense hunger. Might be worth checking out if you aren't already taking Omeprazole or some other PPI. As for overeating... weighing your food can stop that. It takes very little to make the stomach full now... Make sure you aren't just feeding your mouth! For Protein shakes, you may have to try several different types to find one you can tolerate. I love the Syntrax Nectars because they come in fruit flavors that mix well with Water... much lighter than the typical chocolate/vanilla options. Isopure makes a ready to drink clear Protein Drink with 40 g protein per bottle. Premier Protein in chocolate is one of the most highly recommended as tasting good and not being gag-inducing. I don't know what stage you are food wise, but if you are past purees get your protein from Scrambled eggs, chicken/tuna salad, fish, lean meats, poultry, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. The protein should be the focus of every meal and snack right now.

    Hello!

Hello Ashley, I had surgery the same day. I am off my pain meds at home, I took only one dose. I have been walking and resting. How long do you have to do the spirometer for? I am eating a full liquid diet until 2 weeks post-op. I am doing best with yogurt, protein added cream soups and premier protein shakes. I love decaf tea, and sugar free tropical Popsicles. I feel mainly tired and I do fine with portion that are 6oz. Looking forward to our journeys together.

    Nucific Bio X4 Review

Nucific Bio X4 is a supplement that many of you might be interested in. At 39.95, i think it is possibly a best buy for the ingredients that it contains and the health benefits that it offers. Nucific's Bio X4 contains 4 billion colony forming units of probiotic bacteria in every capsule, it contains 90 capsules in the container, and it has five unique probiotic strains: Laxtobacillus Acidophilus, Lactobacillus Rhamnosus, Lactobacillus Plantarum, Bifidobacterium Lactis and Bifidobacterium Animalis. It doesn't stop there, Nucific's Bio X4 also offers a digestive enzyme blend with Bromelain, Amylase (from aspergilus oryzae) and Lipase (from rhizopus oryzae). It also contains a weight management and cravings control blend with green tea extract 50% EGCG and Caralluma Fimbriata root extract. Basically what you get from Nucific's Bio X4 is not just digestive and immune support but also help to manage your weight or to lose some weight, helping you with boosting your metabolism and also with supressing your appetite. Quality probiotic bacteria with digestive enzymes means great things for the digestive system. The probiotic bacteria in Nucific's Bio X4 are some of the most researched probiotics out there. Lactobacillus Acidophilus is one of the most healthy and popular probiotic bacterium strain used in supplements. Lactobacillus Acidophilus has been found to help with vaginal infections, with irritable bowel syndrome, cholesterol, lactose digestion, bloating, diarrhea and more. I would advise for anyone, to consult a medic before using a probiotic supplement because bacteria aren't healthy for everyone and some people should avoid using them, or using specific strains that can cause problems for unhealthy people, although in general probiotic supplements are very healthy and safe. Definitely consult a medic if it's your first time using a probiotic supplement. Probiotic bacteria can improve the immune response and fight to treat/prevent bacterial infections and to improve the processing of food and nutrient extraction/absorption. Also, since probiotic bacteria can multiply quite fast, you don't actually need that many CFUs. They use binary fussion to produce more bacteria. If you are interested in Bio X4, visit: http://www.freetrialsusa.com/nucific-bio-x4-reviews/. Also remember that you get a money-back guarantee that lasts 90 days. You can also get probiotic bacteria from foods : pickles, sauerkraut, sausages, yogurt, etc.

    What is your "full" feeling?

I am also new to the LapBand. I got my Dec16. My full feeling has been up and down. It has taken me to learn when enough is enough. Like others I have symptoms, when I am full or just past I get hiccups and slight tightness in my upper stomach. I have gone past that and its always been eating too fast (yogurt or apple sauce) I was also feeling brave and had eggs which was on my 2nd week diet list. The onset of the symptoms are almost like my stomach is choking. I instantly get a very strong discomfort then extreme tightening of my stomach to the point where I can feel the pain in my back and shoulders. This leads to almost always almost or actually throwing up. My only advice that has worked for me when getting to that point was to drink Water. There is no liquid where the food is and its much more painful, for me at least. I've decided to keep my meals much smaller and to train myself slow down. I am then able to control how my body reacts to food, esescially during this healing phase of my LB journey.

    SO Tired of Protein Drinks!

In the last couple of weeks I discovered adding a scoop of protein powder to plain greek yogurt. 1/2 cup has 12 grams protein and then whatever amount your protein powder has. I love it and have a few different varieties that I make and have it everyday for lunch!

    Loose stools

I used to have horrible IBS, couldnot help me and I love milk, went of milk, besides greek yogurt, no more IBS
  9. @@Ryan TN Someone here had mentioned Lifefair milk which had 13g of protein per cup. it's more expensive but I tried it. I liked it. So maybe I'll use that. I already eat greek yogurt (but 1/4 c has only 4 grams of protein). As I can eat more, i'll be able to get more protein in, other than the drinks or shakes. I do have SF caramel and gingerbread flavoring, and add protein to my carnation instant breakfast powder, and ice; so i do make my own shakes already. Still so tired of them. I did it for ten days prior to surgery too, so 34 days now....

    Protein Tracking

I used to use the SparkPeople app and web site. It has the nutritional values for TONS of foods already loaded into it, so basically you just search for the food you are eating, enter how much of it you ate, and it does the rest. It also has an awesome recipe calculator, so you can enter all your ingredients and what amounts you use in your recipe, and it does all the math for you. Another nice feature was that you could create food "groups" so say you ate the same thing for lunch a lot, like greek yogurt with granola. Instead of having to enter the greek yogurt and granola separately every time, you could save them as a "group" and add them both at once.
  11. Regarding my diet, I started with the fluids mostly water and one 2 ounces of applejuice with water, but stopped that one week later and went to only water, I do not like taste of fake sugar, unjury chicken protein, after 2 weeks I would cook 2 chicken in crockpot take all parts without fat an skin and grounded it up in machine, added water and froze it in ice cub in freezer, For breakfast I would do mostly greek yogurt with a tiny tiny bit of low sugar jelly, for lunch and dinner chicken sometimes a little store bought applesauce no added sugar, it came in a big jar, so I also froze the rest in icecubs, works perfect! sugar popsicles about 2-4 day, now down to 1 a day, do not like the taste of sorbitol. Yesterday approved to go to soft diet, again cooked 2 whole chickens in crockpot and froze bags of 2 ounces, I work from a home office, but if I do not plan ahead regarding protein and foods it would not work for me
  12. I just use a regular metal strainer. I found the mesh/woven style worked better than the plastic ones with holes in them. Should be able to pick up in any Walmart or even grocery store. And yes, yogurt is a funny thing.. We were encouraged to start the drinkable yogurts like Siggis and Kefir on day 4, mostly for the Probiotics, but weren't OK'd for the thicker Greek yogurt until purees 3 weeks out. I guess if you added milk to Greek yogurt it would become a drinkable liquid.
  13. Thanks that's helpful. What do you use to strain them? I'm using a Vitamin to make tomato soup and the resulting liquid is very very smooth...like Campbell's canned soup. And they served this to me in the hospital on day 2. But while yogurt is on my list for the liquid stage, there's no way it would go through a strainer...or be poured. Purée Diet Recipes

I don't cook, so I kept it simple and easy.... Huevos rancheros....scrambled egg with cottage cheese, refried Beans and green chili Hummus Plain Greek yogurt flavored with Protein powder, Torani syrups or pureed fruit. Cottage cheese with Muscle Milk cake batter Protein Powder (tastes like cheesecake) Mushed avacado with garlic salt Added unflavored protein powder to every kind of broth and cream Soup I could find. Pureed any with chunks.....tomato, cream if shrimp, French onion, butternut squash, broccoli cheese, split pea, bean, wonton, egg drop, chili, tortilla soup, clam chowder, lobster bisque, etc Pureed tuna fish with mayo and mustard Bob's Red Mill 10 grain Cereal....savory version with unflavored protein powder, bacon and cheese. Or sweet version with vanilla protein powder and pureed blueberries. Mashed potatoes and mashed yams with unflavored protein powder. And continued into pureed stage still drinking at least 2 protein shakes/day to make sure I was getting all my protein.
  15. Single serving pack of pistachios can vary from 80 - 200 depending on the brand. Wonderful has 80 calories packs, Herr's has 130 calorie packs. Cheese sticks are also under 200, greek yogurt under 200. Even better if you buy it plain and add your own fruit.

    SO Tired of Protein Drinks!

Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and tuna are pretty much staples for me. They are great protein sources.
  17. If you are near a kroger's, they have a carbmaster milk that has 11 grams of protein, also carbmaster brand yogurt there has alot of protein. I am 7 weeks post op and get all my protein in with food and one shake a day.
  18. It seems like the docs can define things differently (and whether it really makes much of a difference is anybody's guess.) My doc didn't discriminate between liquids, purees, mushes and soft Proteins, but just let us move between them during that first month as our tolerances dictated. It sounds like your interpretation is reasonable, though yogurt isn't usually pourable (except for some of the yogurt drinks.) If in doubt (beyond checking with the doc or nut), you can thin things out a bit with Water or milk, or just see how the thicker consistencies go as they are acceptable on some programs and there is so much overlap between the different programs. Don't be afraid to call the doc's office with any such questions, as if things aren't clear to you, they likely aren't clear to lots of other patients on the program, and the instructions should clarify such things, and if they don't they should be rewritten so that they do.
  19. Wow, I am already struggling with what to eat. My diet calls for strained blenderized Soups, Protein shakes, sugar free pudding or apple sauce, smoothies, greek yogurt. Everything is sweet! Tried strained cream of chicken Soup tonite but couldn't eat much of it. Any suggestions for foods that have worked for you so far that aren't sweet. Everything just seems to be sweet. And sweet isn't getting it . . .isn't that amazing?
  20. In my case, pureed foods included scrambled eggs, yogurt, refried beans, cottage cheese ????????, but was able to move to moist meats in that phase, tuna fish, beans, boca burgers (yum, love them). Again, just me, if you aren't sure, discuss it with your NUT.
  21. In a few weeks I am flying out to Phoenix to pick up an RV and then drive it back to the East Coast. I will only be bringing a small suitcase with me and the RV will be empty (no plates, cookware, or utensils). I am about 4 months post-op and was looking for some meal suggestions for this week long trip. The RV does have a refrigerator, hot Water, stove, and microwave. My plan at this point is to stop at a Walmart after picking up the RV to pick up supplies for the trip. Here is my partial list at this point: - Ready made Protein drink (Premier Protein) - Small frying pan - Paper plates - eggs - Cooked grilled chicken - Yogurt - Lunchmeat (turkey) - Bottled water Any suggestions for easy to prepare meals for this trip would be appreciated.
  22. Hi I'm 6 days post op and a little confused on the difference between liquid and purée. As an example of "ok" foods on my liquid stage for the next week, my surgeons instructions includes things like baby food, tomato or cream Soup, yogurt, etc. How are these different from purée? How do I differentiate as I'm choosing foods? Does it mean that liquid has to be pourable while purée allows for smooth texture while being more thick? It sounds like in my instructions, both stages can't include any chunks or soft bits....everything has to be completely smooth. I know everyone's requirements are a little different. I'm just a little confused. Thanks for any input. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Starving

I often top my Greek yogurt with a couple tablespoons of a lower-sugar, higher-Protein granola. Bear Naked and KIND are the ones that I've found with the best stats.

Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?

I normally have a Triple Zero Greek Yogurt topped with 2 T. of Bear Naked granola with raisins, cranberries, almonds, and pecans. Prior to surgery I had a fried egg sandwich on whole wheat with a glass of V-8. Or, a soft boiled egg on whole wheat toast.
