I'm struggling losing weight
ShoppGirl replied to Happy Stylist's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you truly are logging and measuring everything precisely, and your intake is under 600 calories it is impossible for you not to lose weight. It has to be the three week stall. Sometimes it can last a little while. I know it’s hard but try to trust the process. The weight loss will start again soon. -

Yay! I'm still a week away but can't wait. I am really looking forward to some refried beans and the ricotta bake.

I know y'all are probably tired if seeing my post lol. But I'm struggling at losing weight. It's been 5 weeks since my surgery and I haven't lost anything in 3 weeks. My dr said it's sluggish. I'm going to call my nutritionist but not sure how much help she will be. I'm not cheating at all. I'm completely on the plan. I thought maybe it was my protein. (Not getting enough). But even with getting 60g or more. I still haven't lost. What's going on with me 😭😭😭. I'm still under 600 calories. Geez how can I not be losing on eating 600 calories or less. I need to get this figured out.

It could also just be a sore throat which unfortunately was the first symptom my husband just had with COVID last week. I would get a test.

Hey I'm a bit over 3 months post op. Same thing with me. I miss salads dearly and I get random nausea. My doctor said that's normal. Everyday is different. Sometimes what worked before won't work tomorrow. I will probably try salad soon since I'm tolerating everything really well. Will start out with iceberg. I'm already allowed to eat all other raw vegetables. But yeah, I think it's just part of the experience. I get nauseous for no reason, still need zofran from time to time. I think it'll get better by month 6. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

No regrets. Over 3 months post op. Lost a lot ot weight and have the beat relationship with food I've ever had in my entire life. I don't miss overeating. All I can remember was how sick and stuffed I felt all the time in the past. That's no longer my reality. I feel so thankful and blessed to be on this journey. Hello surgery buddies, for the past 4 weeks when i pee, my peel smells like my protein shakes. I take the fairlife ones. But am drinking my liquids, i dont make it to 64, usually 50 something oz daily. And my nails stopped growing, and now britlle and breaking that it hurts to grab things. My hair loss is better, stopped thinning and got a hair cut last week. I had my RNY Nov 2021 down 107lbs today. Im meeting with my dietician in 2 week in person to shop at the store and read labels properly. Thank you! Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app

May Surgery Buddies
Darcell76 replied to The Traveler's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did anyone else have bad chest pains after surgery? I’m 3 days post op and it hasn’t went away. It comes and goes. They did an EKG before I left the hospital and said I was ok . -
I had VSG on 5/20/22, so about 9 days out. I’m in the figuring it out phase and return to work this week. But even with all that - no regrets yet. With pre and post-op, I will have lost 30 lbs in May. HW 266 (May 1), SW 248 (May 20), CW 236 (May 29).

Like @Recidivist, I didn’t ever return to exercising. I walked erratically before surgery & started back again slowly after surgery. But stoped after a couple of months due to low energy & low BP. Didn’t stop me from losing all my weight & more. I still don’t exercise as such but understand some people enjoy it &/or want to establish healthy behaviours. Best to chat with your surgeon. They will likely have their recommendations around how much you should exert yourself, how much you can lift & when you can progress & do more. Most tend to advise walking only for the first couple of weeks but there are always variations on this.

Blah...my first stall...
Arabesque replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What a great video. Thank you for sharing it @acopas. Watching it reminded me to ask if you take body measurements @SleeveDiva2022? Some people notice their physical measurements decrease while in a stall even though the scale doesn’t change. -
Happy 3 months! I’m looking forward to being there!

I slept in a reclined position for the first 3 days. I have noticed I have to sleep on my back now. With a pillow under my knees. I had my surgery on the 25th of May

You got this, the first 2 to 3 days are the roughest of the pre op diet but after that it is good. I'm with you on the 10 yr yo you of weightloss. -
A little over 2 weeks till surgery (6/16). Starting my preop diet Thursday. My program includes no caffeine :(, Sugar, Dairy, or carbs with the final two days being liquid only. As it gets closer the more anxious I get, I have been on a weight loss journey for 10 years and I'm really hoping this will finally be it.

Just not feeling it
Lynnlovesthebeach replied to lboston's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 1/2 + yrs post gastric bypass and I don't have much interest in food. I don't care about cooking it or eating it most days. I live alone so boring stuff like salads or yogurt or soup work just fine for me. When I go out to restaurants I usually order so I have leftovers for another day. I'm so glad Whole Foods reopened their hot food bars. I go there and shop for a couple days at a time and then I don't have to cook. -
Hey everyone. My surgery is scheduled for June 2, and I’m on Day 11 of my 2-week liver shrink diet. It’s been an enormous challenge, and I did have a slip up yesterday (I ate a breakfast burrito in a moment of weakness), but have otherwise stuck to the diet perfectly. These past 11 days have really put things into perspective, and I can’t help but think about all of the food I’m not going to be able to eat for such a long time. I’ve been having a lot of thoughts like, “Why put yourself through this just to be skinny? You’ll be so unhappy if you can’t eat pizza or tater tots or cinnamon rolls.” I know that I am not going to back out of the surgery, but I hate that I’m feeling this way. I had a little breakdown this morning and cried - I think I was mourning the end of my messed up relationship with food, as strange as that sounds. It was very therapeutic. I’m not sure I ever really understood the depth of my food addiction until now. Is anyone else going through anything similar? Or has anyone else? I would love to know I’m not alone.

It won’t let me quote the video link but that was very helpful! I think my stall broke more because I changed a few things in my day to day but this is encouraging that it will break regardless!
