    taking NSAIDS

I was given liquid advil from my doc after surgery, Also able to take Advil now per my doctors ok. I only have to take it maybe once every 2-3 weeks or so for headache.
  2. I finally received approval from Cigna today. Surgery is two weeks from today. I am wondering what are the must do things to prepare for surgery and the few days after?
  3. MrsPierre please tell me more about the B12 nasal spray. What is the name of it? Sorry for the hijack but I've never heard of it administered this way! No input on energy levels as I am not sleeved yet but any surgery where they put you under us going to knock you around a but afterwards. I would think you should be fine by 3 mos.

Energy levels 3 months after sleeve

I am 3 months out and tired often. My primary care doctor told me to just focus on getting more sleep. It's not a huge issue, it's not ruining my life, but I've definitely noticed that I'm really tired. I've had all of my bloodwork checked and everything is normal.. I told my PCP, I'm already sleeping 7-8 hours a night.. and she told me that maybe I needed more.. try sleeping for 9 hours a night.. Seems to be helping.
  5. @@HomerThompson Ask your surgeon at your 2 week visit. Your surgeon is going to know better for you, than people on the internet. Or I would call my surgeon's office for direction on Monday.
  6. Hello everyone just stopped in to share my progress 2 months out and feeling great I'm down 60lbs only 60lbs left to reach goal weight stalled a few times but I'm holding strong good luck to everyone on their journey Me last year & me today I love my new sleeve
  7. Found out Thursday my band had slipped. Found out Friday I'd be having surgery this Wednesday to have it removed with my choice of replacement (the nurse originally said he'd be putting in another band but after all the issues I've had I told her I'd go with nothing before I had another band and magically it became my choice!). If I have no serious damage once he's inside he will do RNY at that time, if there's anything that needs to heal I will be closed up and come back in 6-12 months for the RNY. I've had 5 days to prep and learn everything I can about pre and post op diets and have spent the weekend nesting and trying to get everything ready for the next 6 weeks or so. I'm frantic!!!!! Although a 5 day liquid diet is soooo much better than the 2 weeks long misery before! Wish me luck Wednesday and keep your fingers crossed that there will be no complications and I can go straight to bypass!!!!
  8. Hello 3 weeks post op and knew after a eating most my lunch that i shouldn't finish it but old habits die hard... eww i had the most neauseaus feeling.. almost puked.. I am not eating anything else until i feel totally empty. Havn't felt restriction like that before.. now i know the feeling.. anyone else do this as well early on??
  9. I had a plication one week ago also and am experiencing the same. I am still on liquids. I applied the BRAT (bananas, rice, apple, tea) diet witout the rice. I make banana smoothies, and have been drinking ice tea and apple jiuce for liquids. It has slowed down tremendously.
  10. I am 3 weeks post op and highly motivated to stick to the diet to experience the quickest possible weight loss. I am still eating mostly "mushies," starting to incorporate other things. My question is...what "typical" day menu showed the most or most consistent weight loss?
  11. You said it. Until you get fills you won't have restriction. Now is a time to not worry about portions but focus on healing. The band is NOT rapid weight loss like by pass; the average is 1-2 pounds a week ONCE you have restriction. Give it time and give yourself a chance to heal. And don't just drink tea; you need some plain old water! (I know, I love sugar free tea too) I have found I need a good quantity of Water each day . My surgeon requires 64 ounces and I try to get that much each day...then I allow myself tea. Try that. BUT remember...you are healing right now. Let your body adjust.
  12. Banded April 15 and have lostr 28 pounds, I've been stalled for 3 weeks and don't exercise coz I don't have time and no interest in it, I think about exercise and feel sleepy!! I'm due a first fill monday will I start losing again or must I exercise
  13. I m faced with the same scenario....I was banded on the 13th and I lost 8 kg ( 17 pounds) in the first 8 days then nothing ... I went to mushies yesterday and had some mashed potatoes and pudding ... but it seems my 8 kilos are not going any further .... i ll get to real food after a week ... and i m scared of gaining the weight i lost ....

    Fiber?

I am starting my 4th week post op. Since week one, I have been using Miralax. I put it in my hot tea every morning. Until my diet allows for veggies, this has been working great. Try it.

    Pcos success

I have PCOS, and I got pregnant 3 years after lapband. I had done fertility treatments before that and they were not able to make me ovulate no matter what med or dose. Lapband gave me my baby. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App
  16. I had my third fill last week and since then have felt less full. Does anyone have this problem. Will the fluid settle and be more full?
  17. Hi, I started my 6 month supervised diet in January of this year (the end of January actually) and was going at the end of every month (about 30 to 31 days apart). At the end of June, my doctor was on vacation so my next appointment wasn't until the first week in July. My question is, will I have to start over since, technically, I missed the month of June, although I picked back up a few days latter in July? My other appointments resumed during the first week of each month there after. I am nervous because I don't want to start over or pick up from July; then that would be the second time I would have been set back because of dates. HELP:confused:

    Cold laser therapy

I've been doing some research on the benefits of cold laser therapy (not to be confused with laser surgery) in snuffing out sugar addictions. My husband had it to quit smoking. Anywhoooo... the receptionist at the clinic told me she had 3 treatments for her sugar addiction and hasn't touched anything sweet since her first treatment a month ago. She even passed up her all time favorite, Baskin Robbins ice cream. My concern is: could it be harmful to my band? None of the information I have found would indicate so. It won't do much good to ask my fill doctor, surgeon, etc. because they would tell me I should let the lapband do it's job, etc. However, no amount of restriction is going to stop the sugar cravings, of which there are many for me. Has anyone heard of this and have you heard whether it could be harmful to an internal foreign object in the body, such as the band? You can read about it on Wikipedia: Low level laser therapy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Low-level therapy uses cold (subthermal) laser light energy to direct bio-stimulative light energy to the body's cells without injuring or damaging them in the process.

    Anxious Would Be An Understatement!

I receoverd from RNY pretty quick where my sister took much longer. I think it all depends on the person. I was in the hopsital for 2 1/2 days. My surgery was on a Monday, come home wednesday and back to work the following Monday. I worked 1/2 days in the office and 1/2 at home for the 2nd week. By the 3 week I was ok to go back full days.

    My Journey Begins

Met with the new surgeon yesterday and all went well. Waiting to be set up with an appointment with the nutritionist and start all the insurance stuff. Guess I'm starting to feel a little anxiety over all the wait. When I spoke to the insurance company a couple of weeks ago, they seemed more than helpful, but there are so many horror stories out there about denial, appeals and the whole insurance hell process. Keeping fingers crossed and waiting for the phone call!!!!

    Expired band

I was banded in august of 2015. Surgery went well and I was out of the hospital by the end of the day. I followed all of the diet stages properly and lost about 10 pounds in my first 2 months. In the following months I began to not feel any restriction, I could eat almost whatever I wanted. Honestly, I couldn't even tell I had a lap band inside of me. I went for fills and told the doctor I wasn't feeling any restrictions. 3 fills later and nothing has changed. Fast forward to December 2016, I get a letter in the mail informing me that the band placed inside of me was expired at the time of surgery. ummm what?! I called the number on the letter and it turns out two men illegally bought and sold (at least) 8 expired lap bands to surgeons in south Florida. Lucky me! I immediately called my surgeon to find out the risks of having the expired band. The receptionist told me he would be calling me back by the end of the day. No word from my surgeon. I called back the next day and the same thing, he would call me back. It's been a MONTH and my surgeon will not take my calls. My primary care doctor has finally found a surgeon that will talk to me about the risks. At this point, I'm scared. I want this band out. I'm just looking for some words of encouragemet or if anyone has any info on expired lapbands I would greatly appreciate it!

Four Days to the BIG DAY

There are only four days to go, and lots of things to accomplish in that time. I am getting nervous, I am still in the prep stages for my Mom's arrival. I am so thankful for her, she is staying all of next week to help me with my 5 yr old daughter, as my husband works out of town during the week. But I just have sooooo much cleaning to finish before she gets here! It's funny, I am more worried about my finishing my house before my mom gets here, than I am for the surgery, go figure! I only have two more days of cleaning before she arrives!!!! Hopefully our new bed is delivered in time, so she has somewhere to sleep! Very short blog today. Enjoy your day everyone!
