Ladies, I wish I knew about Genepro during my first weeks post op. It is tasteless and a small spoonful packs 30 grams of protein. There is a thread somewhere on here that I kept reading. I finally went on Amazon and am kicking myself for not buying it earlier. #traveler60 sorry about the scrambled eggs. Not sure why they didn't settle well with you. Still happens to me sometimes on eggs n everything if I "mindless" eat my meal. I forget to chew sometimes... Lol. Boy does it hurt! I try to walk it off and that helps a little. Happy Friday everyone????????

Honest truth about genepro protein powder

The honest truth is that GENEPRO is a scam. There are 15 grams in a tablespoon. A tablespoon cannot contain 30 grams of Protein any more than one cup can hold two cups of Water. Genepro is sold to bariatric patients. Bariatric patients don't know any better. There is no regulation of protein or any other supplements. They are making lots of money by lying about their product and selling it to people who are naïve enough to believe.

Hi all, Is the Genepro Protien called "Musclepro Research Genepro Genetic Tri-Protien Peptide Powder"? That is what comes up on Amazon with a search. Thanks, Janet

Thanks for the welcome everyone! And the advise...I had read some reviews that Genepro produced less gas and bloating... @@Queen Good job with fasting and exercising...I really struggle with the exercise. I think I am the only physical therapist who hates to exercise! LOL Like you, I'm OK once I start but it is hard to overcome the inertia. I had my last required weight loss appointment and have completed all the other insurance requirements. It should all be faxed to my surgeon by the end of the day. I am hoping to have a surgery date soon. I am an educator and am hoping to have my surgery over spring break and return to work after only 1 week off. Perhaps I will need more time but we'll see. My surgeon mentioned using a liquid protein immediately after surgery. Has anyone had experience with these products? Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Genepro

Well their claim is a bit outlandish and clearly falls in the "too good to be true" category. I would imagine that no food has 100% full absorption / 100% bio-availability, so when they make outlandish claims the burden of responsibility to support those claims falls on them. Here is their "study" supporting their claims http://www.musclegen.net/documents/geneproClinicalTrial.pdf (note its a small short term, small sample size, poorly controlled clinical train paid for by them). Personally I think their claims are 100% bs and wildly exaggerated. That said I dont think the product is bad for you, it is very much a protein supplement. That said its very likely that youre really only getting somewhere in the 11-15g range of protein per serving and absolutely not 30g. The TLDR: is basically Genepro is very likely giving you substantially less than 30g of ACTUAL protein per serving, which makes it overpriced and difficult to accurately track your macros. But if you dont mind overpaying for an easy to dissolve flavorless protein its probably just as fine as any other protein powder as a protein source. Youll just have to make an educated guess on how much protein youre consuming, and probably double their dosages to get that actual amount

    Perfect mix!

Cream of wheat made with Water, once cooked (runny consistency) splash of almond coconut milk, 1 scoop GENEPRO unflavored Protein, drop of pure vanilla, tsp of light agave . This fills me up and gives me a good base to get my Vitamins in. Perfect breakfast! Try it! Used to eat steel cut oats all the time but this will work for now!

Type 2 Diabetic and Lactose Intolerant

That is a hard one fir sure. I found GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder. It has literally saved my life. I was on a 2 weeks of protein drinks before my RNY and then 4 weeks of protein drinks after my WLS. I am here to tell you, I had "THE BACK DOOR TROTS" the whole time I was drinking PREMUIR Protein drinks. I mean I coudn't hardly get out of the house. After all of that time my Surgeon told me that I was Lactose Intolerant. THANK YOU MISTER!! Now when I say that I couldn;t go out I mean I COULD NOT GO OUT without wearing a pad!! So I am now 3 and 1/2 years out and when I found GENEPRO I was so EXCITED!!! It is unflavored and I add it to my coffee every day. You can add it to anything. Just temper it in some warm water and then put it in the stuff and you can enjoy your drinks without any difference. It is a little more expensive but it is so worth it. I hope this helps you, I just wish I would have had it all along. BTWS it has 30grams of protein in 1 Tablespoon. Now there will be some that say it isn't 30 grams but I have used it with all of my labs coming out great!!

    Need Idea's

Got my Genepro in and have mixed it with orange juice and chicken broth so far. It mixes great and can't taste it. I think I'm in love
  12. @@ssourgirl Maybe try GENEPRO, found on Amazon.com. It is a tiny scoop (compared to most unflavored whey powders), and you hardly notice it is there. It can be mixed in hot or cold beverages, and has virtually no taste. It has different size packages it comes in, up to 3lbs. And I think it is very reasonable. As for being nauseous, try drinking tepid Water as opposed to cold, so it isn't such a shock to the new tummy. Use the Water Enhancer drops (SOOOOO many flavors to choose from, as well as different brands) to help get in the fluids she needs. This is a life-time thing we need to do for ourselves, so find something you really like. Try mixing different flavors, too. Good luck! OH! The GenePro has 30g of Protein per tiny scoop! Hurray!

Syntrax Nectar taste - Clear liquid help

@@jas84047 I use TG's and GENEPRO. Genepro has 30g per scoop, which is half the amount of most unflavored powders, but there have been questions about whether or not it can truly offer such Protein value per 15g serving. So I alternate it with TG's, which has a hefty scoop, and not as high protein value (I believe it is 25g per scoop). Yes, there is a taste to unflavored protein, I liken it to coffee creamer flavor, but not as sweet. With the Water Enhancer drops, you hardly notice the protein flavor. Remember, unflavored does NOT mean there is no flavor, it is just that they don't ADD flavor. You can also add the powder to just about anything wet: Soups, V8, other juices (watch the carbs!), scrambled eggs, coffee/tea (try iced - I like chai-spice iced tea!!!) chili, stews..... You may have to mix it with a little cool water before adding it to hot foods (or it might clump). Be creative and when you find new ways to use it, please SHARE!!!!! I meant to say TWICE the protein of most powders, for GenePro. Not half. SORRY! It is half the scoop size.
  14. @@jas84047, I'm a big fan of the lemon tea, and using a shaker bottle fixed my foam and clump problems completely. Avoid GENEPRO - it's impossible to have 30 g of Protein in 15 g of powder, their labelling is misleading and no studies to date have shown their 15 g of protein to be better absorbed, etc, than other protein isolates. Another, savory option, is pho broth. It's rich, salty, savory, and packed with protein. Check out the recipe here if you like - this stuff kept me going post-op and had enough calories (more than Syntrax per volume) to give my body what it needed to heal quickly despite the minimal volumes I was able to consume. I also have a protein-packed jello-like recipe if you like here. Congrats, by the way, on your surgery choice - I'm so excited for you - this side of things is beautiful!

    Protein Shake Questions

Thanks for the ideas. I do like the way Bariatric Advantage chocolate tastes, think I will try a pudding when its time. I am pre-op, so trying to find something good, I will look up GENEPRO. I just got the chocolate jay robb and it does not taste much like anything, want to see what agrees with my stomach. Any other ideas are appreciated. Good luck to everyone
  16. I was this way also. I found genepro protein has no flavor at all and mixed with crystal light worked great. You can get it on amazon .

    Protein help

I was gonna buy some GENEPRO but I keep seeing bad reviews about it too.. Then the lady at gmc suggest the Isopure powder. The only thing I've managed to do that I can drink so far is mix it with some Water and put a squirt of watermelon flavoring in it. But still, I would like to find a much easier solution. The taller, thinner canister is Gen 2. I use it religiously in my morning coffee, like @Sai. I was wondering if a man can get his hand into the narrower canister? My first 2 rounds of Genepro came in the short, squat one.

@ShelterDog64 Ahh thank you! I didn't know how to tell between the two. My bottle is still the short, squat one, darn hehe.

  20. I already have 100 grams of protein in this morning...YEA! I stopped and got a Herbalife Chunky Monkey (35 grams) plus extra protein (5 grams)...added GenePro (30 grams) Herbalife tea ...added another scoop of GenePro (30 grams)....got it going this morning!!!!

  21. I have Unjury chicken flavor. I also use Genepro (unflavored) and I have mixed that with beef consume. You can't heat it to hot, but using tempering it gets hot enough. I am on day two of 10 of the pre-op diet, and so far it has not been as bad as I expected. Hoping that continues! [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Protein shakes.

@@vannababyy22 What are you allowed on your food stage at this point? I couldn't handle Protein shakes anymore either and once cleared for purees - I bought unflavored Protein powder and I'm adding it to my food. I bought GENEPRO but there are others out there too.

    No energy, five days out

My energy was very, very low for the first 2 weeks post-op. I didn't start drinking anything with Protein powder until after 2 weeks out. I couldn't stand any of the shakes anymore after the pre-op liquid diet, I burned myself out on them and nearly gagged every time so I just had to stay away. Now I take about 6oz of a juice (no HFCS juice) and mix a scoop of GENEPRO (30mg protein) and drink that on the days I get lower protein intake. I can definitely tell the difference on the days I get my protein levels up versus the ones that I get very little in. It's a balancing act and it takes time to master it. I wouldn't worry about exercise or walking ability right now. I don't think I gained the desire for any of that until I was on pureed foods because then I was getting actual sustenance to energize me.
  24. Unjury or Genepro Unflavored Protein Powder......Go!!!!!
  25. I'm so sorry to hear you are having so much trouble. I have not had any issues with protein, since I have not had surgery yet. I use a flavorless protein powder called genepro. It actually is tasteless. I blend it with my hot herbal tea and almond milk in the morning. Maybe it could work for you. I bought mine on Amazon and got it same day, since I have prime. I hope the Dr figures out what's going on and can help you.
